I have been in Surprise for four years and just tried this spot for the first time. It instantly became my favorite Chinese restaurant in Surprise. The food is flavorful looks delicious even before you start eating. It has nice size portions. They also packaged your food up so nicely it stays warm in the little bags that they provide. We had a good dinner last night at Good Fortune Chinese Restaurant. We were seated right away, service was very friendly, and our food came out piping hot and tasty. I like the large deep bowls filled with sizable entree portions. We ordered: - Steamed Dumplings to share (8) - pork meat wrapped. Eight big steaming dumplings. I love the sauce that they serve with this on the side. So yummy. - Sweet and Sour Chicken to share - classic fried and battered chicken dish with a bright red thick sweet-and-sour sauce. Good comfort food. - Moo Goo Gai Pan - sliced chicken,celery, carrots, zuccini and mushrooms in white sauce. Exactly what I was craving. Very good. Comes with a bowl of rice or you can upgrade to other types of rice or lo mein. - Kung Po Chicken (no peanuts requested) - another great classic. Hubs enjoyed it. I visited this place yesterday with my grandmother. She heard good things about it and wanted to try. She also just had a tooth surgery and needed to eat soft things so she thought Chinese would be the perfect cuisine. The staff were incredibly friendly and offered to cook the vegetables extra so they were super soft. They were so nice. Our server was beautiful by the way! Unfortunately, the food was not as good. Yes, they did cook the vegetable vegetables extra for her, and they were soft enough for her to eat, but the food was bland and flavorless. I ordered the Kung pow chicken, which came with very few pieces of chicken and a ridiculous amount of vegetables and peanuts on top. She ordered the mushroom dish with shrimp and received 4 to 5 shrimp and mostly vegetables as well. They definitely service the type of clientele in this area that would like very bland food. The best thing on my plate was the eggroll. Although the restaurant was very clean, and the staff were very nice, we will not be returning to this location for the food. read more

My wife and I moved today closer to this area which is a good thing. Now we have access to more shopping and restaurants. We were in need of dinner and I came apon Good Fortune Restaurant. We hadn't had Chinese food in awhile , so we gave it a try. My wife had the Vegetable Lo Mein. You can choose peanut butter sauce or brown sauce for your dish. My wife choose the brown sauce and thought it was lacking flavor . I had the Ho Fun ( wide noodles ) House special . The special is Chicken , Pork and Shirmp with noodles and veggies. I didn't want any celery or onions, so it was needing some sort of other veggie to enhance the dish. Each dish was pretty large . The service was friendly and informative. We ordered to-go. We ordered KungPow chicken, chicken egg foo young and chicken friend rice. When we ordered they said 15-20 min and it did take that long. The KungPow was great and would order again with subbing in friend rice and then skipping the extra order. It says that it is spicy but it didn't seem overly spicy to us. The egg foo young was good. While waiting inside for the order I observed that many of the tables were full and the ones that weren't had not been cleared, but as new people came for dine in, they cleared and cleaned a table pretty quickly. The staff seemed friendly, gracious and helpful. We will be coming back. The to-go packaging is amazing. read more

I picked it up early before noon to have for dinner later as we live in Sun City Festival and didn't want to drive for dinner. The place was empty except for one table of an adult and two children. Sesame beef: 2 stars - super soggy and the flavor wasn't quite what I'm used to for sesame beef. I wouldn't order again. Chicken fried rice: 3.5 stars (from mom) - was good but she's had better. Probably would t get it again. Happy Family: 5 (from my not picky dad) - good flavors and textures. Would order again. Spring rolls: 1 star (me and my mom) - not great, kind of fishy. We moved to Surprise recently and when we were moving we tried this place and it was good. When we were craving some Chinese for dinner and we ate in and it was delicious!! I had the beef and broccoli and mu husband had their Udon noodles. Both dishes were fantastic. I love their hot tea as well. The servers are so friendly and sweet! The service was quick and they kept our drinks full. But my absolutely favorite thing is the 90's piano covers they play! So funny. It's quiet and nice to be able to talk over dinner. Went against my better judgement and ordered from here when wanting Chinese food. Personal opinion is Chinese food is always over priced for what it is. Ordered take out. Service at take out counter was great. Fried rice was really just rice with soy sauce in it. Maybe I don't know real fried rice? Beef in the beef and broccoli tasted, well, different is how I'd describe it. Orange chicken had no flavor even asking for it "extra spicy". I'm sure the neighborhood where this is located probably can't handle a hint of spice in the food. Egg rolls tasted ok but still were really bland. Food was all around hot, even after getting home. We did take out when I was visiting in town. It was late in the evening and luckily they were still open. Place the order online and ask for a substitution. They called me to double check and verify the substitution and also tell me that they didn't have one ingredient which I appreciated. We ended up ordering the general TSO chicken, Kung pow, shrimp, dumplings, Szechuan pork, and eggrolls. Everything came in this adorable takeout bag that reminded me of Tiffany and Co. It was well packed, including all of the sauces. We enjoyed everything however the Szechuan pork was our least favorite item. Portions were generous for the value.
