Pad Thai
Emma N.

This place took care of our Thai food craving tonight. Absolutely delicious! I ordered pad Thai and it was everything I could have asked for! So yummy. This place is local to me and will probably turn into my new Friday night spot. The waitress that took care of us was very nice and we had the entire dining room to ourselves this evening! 100% would recommended to anyone in the area craving Thai food!

One of the best Thai spots in all of Phoenix. This place is a must-find hole in the wall. Tucked into a shopping plaza close to a bar and an O'Reilly's, you'll find this hidden gem that serves amazing Thai food. The hostess, April, took my order promptly and showed excellent customer service. She was telling me about the restaurant and that her aunt is still the only cook - 20+ years later! The place is quiet and not busy most of the time, there's a lot of to-go happening. The food came out hot, looked great and was also very flavorful. Portions vs price point is absolutely phenomenal. I tried the Pad Thai at first (pictured below) but have gone back a few times for the drunken noodles too. Will absolutely keep this place in mind and recommend this restaurant for Thai food!

The food here is always amazing and fresh. The best part is the price is not bad at all.

Important to note that some of the prices on the menu are not correct. I decided to try out their snow peas vegetable stir fry and the pad see ew (thick noodles dish with broccoli). They have 4 different spice levels and the service was quite amiable. The food itself was above average. I ordered to-go so I was pretty sad to see that they don't include utensils or napkins.

Hands down the BEST Food Tasting Thai restaurant in town! It is Mom & Pop style venue -- the owner is The Chef in the kitchen -- the quality of the food is excellent! She cooks with passion and delivers each dish with intention -- delicious & wanting more! "A hole in the wall" is the best description, but the quality of the food is what we come here for. It's like coming home to Mamma's kitchen...say hello, take a seat, order your food (must try everything), enjoy your conversations with your companies, sip your non-alcoholic beverages (no alcohols here), and wait for your food to arrive, have patience (only the real Chef is cooking), and be polite! Warning: if you are into Fine-Dining, Wine, or Martini sipping -- this is NOT the place ! Tips: 1. Invite about 4-6 people to enjoy more delicious dishes. To order a few dishes at once: help the chef with better preps...the dining experience flows better. There is only one server, so it will take sometimes for next round to order (depends on how busy). 2. Don't split check when paying. 3. Tip them WELL !!! Enjoy your dining!!! For me, this place earns FIVE STARS for the quality food!

Spicy Squid

My hubby and I have been coming here for quite a while, mainly for takeout. April, the owner's niece already knows who we are just by our order over the phone, and it always feels welcoming when I order. The place is quiet but very very busy as far as takeout goes, and it blows my mind that perfection is mastered by one lady working alone in her kitchen. And the food is phenomenal, ranking amongst the best Thai food I've had in the Valley. I always get the Spicy Squid. The sauce is heavenly, a little sweet, a lot spicy. My husband gets the Pad-Prig Khing chicken and the level of flavor is beyond epic. This place is a gem on a platinum band, do NOT be put off by the location, it's not much to look at, but it's certainly hiding the best Thai experience out there!!

Spicy catfish

This is the best spicy catfish I've had. Nice and crispy and the sauce is delicious. We also ordered the panang curry that has amazing flavors. You can beat the portion sizes here, I highly recommend.

Truly the best Thai food in the Valley. The owner does all the cooking, and everything is amazing, especially the curries.

Does their Thai tea have coconut milk or whole milk?

Its made with half & half. I bet you could ask for coconut milk if you wanted to, might change the consistency/flavor though.

As a proud Yelp Elite, I decided to give this place a chance because the reviews were the best I saw in the city! The place was busy on a Sunday night and it is small but I never say customers waiting too long. There were two larger parties seated so the food took some time but nothing outrageous. We started with the calamari, spring rolls, and crab wontons. The calamari were the biggest I've ever seen and very delicious! Unfortunately, I did not enjoy the spring rolls or crab wontons. I feel like those are hard to get wrong but I was not a fan of the cream cheese that was used and it was a lot of it, barely any imitation crab. For entrees, I had the spicy basil and substituted ground chicken for chicken breast, my personal preference. I ordered level 2 spice but it was still a bit spicy for me. Trying a new Thai place is always hit or miss with spice levels so I actually thought I was being safe with 2. Additionally, the chicken was so bland. Some Thai places season their chicken, some do not and unfortunately Pad Thai Cafe missed that mark. My partner ordered the short rib curry dish and my goodness, it smelled like heaven and tasted just as good. I don't eat beef but had to taste it and it was divine! He also ordered spice level 2 and his dish was not as spicy as mine. Overall, the rest of the party enjoyed their food and there were good flavors there so I'd definitely recommend the entrees, not so much the starters.

Thai Chicken is moist with nice slight char to give you that depth of flavors. Can easily share this. Egg rolls were crispy on the outside and moist inside, served with a great orangish red sauce. I ordered the way I did on purpose. These are my go to Thai dishes. The staples. I wanted to taste everything I consider my personal favorites so I could really gauge the restaurant across the board. The vegetable egg rolls and chicken satay were good. Solid. The potstickers were good. The chicken larb was actually good, maybe a little too much sugar, it tasted slightly sweet, but still one of the stronger dishes. Mango sticky rice was enjoyable. The Thai iced tea, flavor was on point. That's actually my first indicator when I try a Thai restaurant. The only thing that would've made it better is crushed ice. Real Thai spots usually use crushed ice. It melts perfectly and dilutes the sweetness just right. When you use block ice, the tea stays too sweet longer. Crushed ice gives it that smooth balance. Small detail, but that's how I gauge authenticity. Now to the honest part. The pad Thai was mediocre. It was lacking. I've definitely had better and I wouldn't recommend that dish. The spicy fried rice was okay, nothing special. The lad na gravy was way too thick, and instead of using Chinese broccoli, they used regular American broccoli. That's usually my second give when I rate a Thai restaurant. Traditional lad na uses Chinese broccoli. That swap changes the texture and the authenticity of the dish. They also didn't have the typical sauce that usually complements lad na, which I found strange for a Thai restaurant. The Thai fried rice was decent. Overall, I'm giving this place four stars. Here's my why. First, they didn't have common condiments that are pretty standard at most Thai restaurants. That threw me off. Second, the service. They weren't rude at all. Everyone was friendly. But the attentiveness just wasn't there, especially considering we placed a large order and the restaurant wasn't that busy. Third, the flavor and authenticity details. It just didn't hit the way traditional Thai food usually does. I've eaten Thai food all my life, especially in Thai Town in California and throughout Orange County, and the flavor profile here wasn't on that level. If someone asked me if I would return, probably not. But don't let my review stop you. Be your own judge. My goal isn't to hurt the business. It's feedback. Tighten up the service, dial in the flavor, stick closer to traditional ingredients, and it could easily level up to five stars for my taste. And yes, expectations vary. I've eaten a lot of Thai food, so I may be grading on a different curve. One more tip, if you're a party of six or more, double check your receipt. Gratuity was already included in ours and I didn't realize until I got back to where I was staying since I'm out of town. I had to call and have the extra tip removed. Just keeping it real.

The restaurant seems to charge for every little thing and the staff is slow and forgetful. Having to get up so many times just to remind them about our order is simply not acceptable. The space feels inviting and has a pleasant atmosphere. Food The food was good. We ordered the catfish spring rolls and they were delicious once everything finally made it to the table. Service The service was the biggest issue and it was very disappointing, especially since my family has been coming here for 3 years. Parts of our order were missing, including several side dishes and even the sauce for the spring rolls. We asked for a cup of ice and that was missing too. We waited about 10 minutes after receiving the catfish before the vegetables were brought out and we had to keep asking for simple items. It's a shame because things taste best when the food is still hot, but the catfish was already cold once they brought out all the small dishes that came with the main dish. Because the staff was moving so slowly, we ended up walking to the counter (6 times) just to follow up on things that should have been brought to us without asking. It honestly felt like we were serving ourselves. There should be no excuse why service was so slow because there's two waitress and only one other table. The Vietnamese coffee tasted sickly sweet and burnt. After taking one sip, I asked to switch to a Thai tea, hoping it would be better, but that drink was also extremely sickenly sweet. I returned it after one sip as well. I was surprised to see that I was charged for both drinks and was told it was because I drank them, which did not feel fair at all. They even charged us for the lemon slices.

I thought the lo mein was really good and loved the bean sprouts that were included in the dish. The Mongolian beef was a little bit of a surprise for me. It was good, but very sweet. It tasted like it was heavily sauced Hoisin. But, a lot of Thai dishes are sweet, so this was an interesting twist. I thought everything was good and enjoyed our visit. I would definitely return to try the host of other dishes. Definitely a must try.
