Thai Recipe Bistro has been recommended by many friends, so I had to give it a try. The restaurant has both a modern and retro feel. The chandeliers really "pop" and are a cool feature. The jug with running water adds a feng shui touch. The service was fast, friendly and accurate (except for ice I didn't want in my drink). Be aware they close for a while mid afternoon, so check their hours before arriving. The Pad Thai (with chicken) and Fried Rice (with pork) were properly prepared and tasty. Portion sizes were ample and easily shareable. This is not a fast food restaurant (although service was fast). This is a sit down restaurant, so expect commensurate pricing. I have been here twice now and have enjoyed my food both times I came in. The portion size is huge so I get two meals out of my order. It always comes hot and has just the right amount of spice. I order a 2/5 spice chicken pad Thai. My friends who enjoy spice more usually order a 4/5 spice on their dishes. The service was great and they kept our waters full and brought us boxes quickly when we had asked. After checking out the International Travel Show, we were ready for lunch. Fair warning on navigation: If you're coming from downtown, the Google Map GPS might send you in circles. Look for it right at the corner of 7th St and Oak. Also, keep in mind that parking directly in front is pretty limited. Often, Thai places overdo it with sodium or MSG, but this version felt balanced and flavorful without that heavy salt "kick." House Roasted Duck: The duck itself was prepared well, though the house sauce was a bit too salty for my personal preference. Duck Curry: Between the two duck dishes, the Curry Sauce was the standout. It had a much better depth of flavor compared to the house sauce. Certainly is a popular place, it was packed when we went. Colorful interior, friendly staff. We were seated next to a young family, two kids under maybe 8. One of which would scream as loud as possible whenever she apparently wanted to. Annoying to say the least. Staff came and took orders: Kao Soi, a noodle curry dish; Basil Chicken, a veggie dish and Panang Curry with chicken. Arrived rather quickly by a robot waiter. The portions were huge, really huge. The Kao Soi was apparently good. The Basil Chicken had lots of veggies, but lacked basil, but it was enjoyed although not hot enough. The Panang Curry was not so good. It seems, like the rest of the dishes also, was made for quantity not quality. The chicken was not cut into nice uniform strips. There were large chunks of fatty chicken that had no spice at all on or in them. The curry itself was more like a soup lacking both heat and spice, the veggies were good. And it was, as the others huge. None of the dishes were finished due to size, mine both for size, taste and presentation. They were all boxed for take away. I guess if you are looking for food by quantity, this is your place. For me, there are several other places where more care is given to prep and quality of what comes from the kitchen. read more

The food was AMAZING. The menu was extensive. The food was fresh and the portions were large. We had plenty of leftovers. The restaurant had a steady stream of customers it was nicely decorated. It can get pretty busy at any time of the evening so be prepared for a wait and for them to take some time to check back around with you. However, the tom yum wings were a pleasant surprise. Also a bit oily than it should be also had to many green bell peppers. For a dish ordered with a protein it was more of a vegetable dish. Flavor wise it was good.
