I order a 2/5 spice chicken pad Thai. My friends who enjoy spice more usually order a 4/5 spice on their dishes. The service was great and they kept our waters full and brought us boxes quickly when we had asked. However, they do not tell you that there is an auto gratuity (not sure if this is because we had more than four in our party). The ambiance is nothing special. Casual sitdown. The jug with running water adds a feng shui touch. The service was fast, friendly and accurate (except for ice I didn't want in my drink). Be aware they close for a while mid afternoon, so check their hours before arriving. The Pad Thai (with chicken) and Fried Rice (with pork) were properly prepared and tasty. Thai Recipe Bistro is a modern restaurant with some of the best Thai food I've ever tasted. The service is outstanding. We came here for lunch with our daughter and granddaughter. They provided a high chair for our granddaughter and offered to pick up some things she'd dropped. The lunch menu provides a very good and varied selection of dishes priced by the protein you select. As for the food, we dove into their signature dishes, and here's the breakdown: Kao Soi Chicken: This was a win. Often, Thai places overdo it with sodium or MSG, but this version felt balanced and flavorful without that heavy salt "kick." House Roasted Duck: The duck itself was prepared well, though the house sauce was a bit too salty for my personal preference. Duck Curry: Between the two duck dishes, the Curry Sauce was the standout. It had a much better depth of flavor compared to the house sauce. I think some people flip for this place because it's right down the street from them. You prob won't see a ton of reviews of people coming from Mesa just to eat here repeatedly. We were in Phoenix on a business trip and went to another Thai restaurant, but without a reservation the wait was one hour and 20 minutes so we decided to try this restaurant. I'm so glad we did! The food was AMAZING. The menu was extensive. The food was fresh and the portions were large. We had plenty of leftovers. The restaurant had a steady stream of customers it was nicely decorated. The waitress was very friendly and funny. So decided to have a few entrees for family style at home: pad Thai chicken, Rama, pork pad see ew, chow mein, tofu avocado green curry and an order of vegetable rolls. Everything was so tasty! The four of us (plus an almost 2 yo) filled heaping plates and we still had enough food for a second dinner. Amazing! Pad Thai was spot on in flavor. The menu had several options plus pictures to help decide! They start you off with a lite coconut soup which was a nice surprise. I have gotten hot that tastes mild, medium that tastes like hot, and some on....so I usually side with whatever the hottest I am feeling that day, knowing that it will most likely be milder than I like. Sometimes the extra chicken makes up for a limited portion, and the price is higher than other Thai places around with similar taste, but the portion is fair for the price uncharge (most times).
