Thai Recipe Bistro has been recommended by many friends, so I had to give it a try. The restaurant has both a modern and retro feel. The chandeliers really "pop" and are a cool feature. The jug with running water adds a feng shui touch. The service was fast, friendly and accurate (except for ice I didn't want in my drink). Be aware they close for a while mid afternoon, so check their hours before arriving. The Pad Thai (with chicken) and Fried Rice (with pork) were properly prepared and tasty. Portion sizes were ample and easily shareable. This is not a fast food restaurant (although service was fast). This is a sit down restaurant, so expect commensurate pricing. I have been here twice now and have enjoyed my food both times I came in. The portion size is huge so I get two meals out of my order. It always comes hot and has just the right amount of spice. I order a 2/5 spice chicken pad Thai. My friends who enjoy spice more usually order a 4/5 spice on their dishes. The service was great and they kept our waters full and brought us boxes quickly when we had asked. However, they do not tell you that there is an auto gratuity (not sure if this is because we had more than four in our party). The ambiance is nothing special. Casual sitdown. I wasn't expecting much from the outside, but the interior is incredibly spacious--definitely a great choice if you're coming with a large group. They use a robot to deliver the food, which is always a fun touch, but the human service was equally great. As for the food, we dove into their signature dishes, and here's the breakdown: Kao Soi Chicken: This was a win. Often, Thai places overdo it with sodium or MSG, but this version felt balanced and flavorful without that heavy salt "kick." House Roasted Duck: The duck itself was prepared well, though the house sauce was a bit too salty for my personal preference. Duck Curry: Between the two duck dishes, the Curry Sauce was the standout. It had a much better depth of flavor compared to the house sauce. They provided a high chair for our granddaughter and offered to pick up some things she'd dropped. The lunch menu provides a very good and varied selection of dishes priced by the protein you select. I had the drunken noodle medium spice. It was great! Just the right amount of noodles, veggies and chicken. My wife had the ginger on the lunch menu with chicken. We were in Phoenix on a business trip and went to another Thai restaurant, but without a reservation the wait was one hour and 20 minutes so we decided to try this restaurant. I'm so glad we did! The food was AMAZING. The menu was extensive. The food was fresh and the portions were large. We had plenty of leftovers. The restaurant had a steady stream of customers it was nicely decorated. The waitress was very friendly and funny. Once the food was ready, the server walks alongside a robot with a happy cat face that is carrying all the dishes and the server will take the dishes and put it on your table. It can get pretty busy at any time of the evening so be prepared for a wait and for them to take some time to check back around with you. However, the tom yum wings were a pleasant surprise. I'd recommend trying those out if you're a fan of tom yum. The fried tofu was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. We really enjoyed the crab fried rice. It had a good amount of crab mixed in and didn't feel skimpy at all. The tom kha soup was flavorful, filling and would recommend going back for. Certainly is a popular place, it was packed when we went. Colorful interior, friendly staff. We were seated next to a young family, two kids under maybe 8. One of which would scream as loud as possible whenever she apparently wanted to. Annoying to say the least. Staff came and took orders: Kao Soi, a noodle curry dish; Basil Chicken, a veggie dish and Panang Curry with chicken. Arrived rather quickly by a robot waiter. The portions were huge, really huge. The Kao Soi was apparently good. The Basil Chicken had lots of veggies, but lacked basil, but it was enjoyed although not hot enough. The Panang Curry was not so good. It seems, like the rest of the dishes also, was made for quantity not quality. The chicken was not cut into nice uniform strips. There were large chunks of fatty chicken that had no spice at all on or in them. The curry itself was more like a soup lacking both heat and spice, the veggies were good. And it was, as the others huge. None of the dishes were finished due to size, mine both for size, taste and presentation. They were all boxed for take away. I guess if you are looking for food by quantity, this is your place. For me, there are several other places where more care is given to prep and quality of what comes from the kitchen. read more

So decided to have a few entrees for family style at home: pad Thai chicken, Rama, pork pad see ew, chow mein, tofu avocado green curry and an order of vegetable rolls. Everything was so tasty! The four of us (plus an almost 2 yo) filled heaping plates and we still had enough food for a second dinner. Amazing! Pad Thai was spot on in flavor. I was surprised to really enjoy the chow mein and the avocado green curry. May need to try the pineapple curry in the future. Another surprise hit for me was the Rama! I Placed an order for pickup through door dash and it was ready within 20-30 minutes. Smaller parking lot, but some street parking could be available if needed. I happened to be in the area with my husband and we stumbled upon this AMAZING location. It was a great size, we were greeted and seated right away! The staff were friendly and quick! The menu had several options plus pictures to help decide! They start you off with a lite coconut soup which was a nice surprise. We then ordered the mango salad, and the duck curry and noodle boat from the specialty menu! Let me tell you - WOW! So full of flavor! It was so good, perfect heat (medium and hot), and the sauces were amazing. My mouth waters talking about it. This will have to be one of our fav Thai spots in the valley! Ugh it was so good and I had enough leftovers for another entire meal. It came out steaming hot and was packed with so much flavor. A win!! Also a bit oily than it should be also had to many green bell peppers. For a dish ordered with a protein it was more of a vegetable dish. Flavor wise it was good. I have had the massaman, panang, red, green, and yellow. The red and the parang being favorites of those. The spice is a bit inconsistent. I have gotten hot that tastes mild, medium that tastes like hot, and some on....so I usually side with whatever the hottest I am feeling that day, knowing that it will most likely be milder than I like.
