Pho Thanh is an amazing Vietnamese restaurant, the pho is super rich and I've had so many pho restaurants not just in the valley but all over the west coast and to me nothing else compares. You can really taste the deep bone broth that is so rare to find as most restaurants skimp out for cost cutting measures. Price wise is very affordable and portions are quite generous as well. Situated closely to a church and after mass it gets PACKED, so be aware when coming on sundays. The owners are very friendly and always hit me with the "Con." and with my broken Vietnamese we can always have a fun small conversation. read more

I've been coming here since I moved to Arizona in 2010. Being from Washington state, where there are pho noodle spots all over this was a nice replacement for me. The food here is always consistent. I order the spring rolls, crispy egg rolls and a beef pho every time I go. The staff aren't particularly talkative but they are quick to greet you and food hits the table fast. The same guy that served me my first time is still here and doesn't look like he's aged these last 16 years. I also believe I'm the first guest he's smiled at. LolThis is my favorite pho spot in Arizona and trust me I've been to plenty. The dining room is rather quiet, no music just light talking amongst tables. It's usually busy everyday. Not a huge fan. First of all, there were 5 people in my party. 4 out of 5 were served immediately and one person had to wait about 5 minutes for his food while all of us started inhaling. I think that was a bit rude to withhold just the one order. It made it a bit awkward at the table. A couple tables that ordered after us were still served before the last guy in our party. My food was fine. However, their bahn mi has a giant cucumber slice that ruined the sandwich a bit. We're used to cucumber slices instead of a whole cucumber spear in the sandwich, but I guess that is just personal preference. The plate I ordered is probably not popular (#64) since she had to re-check the menu when I ordered. All of it tasted fine, though. No one ever came to refill our water or check in if we needed anything else. I'll probably pass on this place next time there is an invite. Maybe I'll try the other Vietnamese spot down the street near Popeye's the next time I get a hankering for some Pho or Bahn Mi. read more

This is my first time visiting the restaurant on the corner of 17th to pick up my call-in order of vermicelli with grilled pork sausages. The meal only has 7 small pieces of meat and doesn't match the amount of noodles shown in the photo. The service is quick; they probably just microwave pre-made ingredients and reheat them. I have lived in Arizona my whole life and I can confidently say this is the best Pho in town. I frequented the boba place next door and finally decided to give them a try and I was not disappointed! I got some egg rolls to start off and they absolutely blew my mind away. Egg rolls are something you can get just about anywhere but I can't really tell you I had a good one until I tried the ones at Pho Thanh. They are something crispy but not overly crunchy. The greens they provide are nice and fresh and the sauce is perfect. I also got the Banh Mi Bo Kho and it was so good I didn't take a picture until the end haha. I love having something to dip into a soup and the bread they use here is pretty good. I respect a place that isn't super flashy and just lets you enjoy your food. Absolutely love this place! The perfect hole in the wall that I've been searching for. Growing up Vietnamese, I always crave authentic Viet food that my mom cooked for me growing up. Her pho is definitely the best (I may be biased here), however the pho at Pho Thanh comes very VERY close. I came here with a party of 4 on New Year's Day for lunch, and it was packed. However, we were still seated immediately. The server speaks both Vietnamese and English, so communication shouldn't be an issue. There was a little bit of a wait to get our order in since it seemed as if there was only one person taking orders, but after our orders were placed the food came out quickly. I also get their shrimp and pork spring rolls as a side occasionally. They are good on their own, even before dipping them in the sauce. It's usually quite busy at this location, especially on weekends during lunch time. Even so, I haven't waited particularly long to receive my order once it's placed. Staff has always been helpful with good attention to detail. One of my friends who I usually go with to Pho Thanh doesn't like green onions inside her Pho, and they are always accommodating. (Yes, some places don't always listen and add everything anyway!) Another great thing about this location is their fresh beverages. You can get pennywort juice and sugarcane juice at the counter by the register, which are great refreshments for the hot weather starting up. read more

Located ina little no frills strip mall of Asian business's, dont expect any banter these folks show no emotion, and customer service is essentially non existant, I went outside my typical comfort zone and chose the Bon Bo Hue, which had Pigs blood and other unusual items in it. It was ok nothing special. So the reason i give this a 4 star is because the portion size's are huge enough for 2, which creates a savings, and the eggs rolls were delicious. The best beef pho that I've tried in Phoenix. I'm so happy that I stumbled upon this place. I love the open seating and the table options for carry out items and forks if you need to utilize them. I chose the Seasoned Shredded Pork Spring Rolls and the Beef Rib in Spicy Beef Soup. The Spring Rolls weren't my favorite but the soup was delicious. The ribs were flavorful and suited the soup well. I was expecting a bit more sickness but with the hot sauces on the table, that was an easy fix. The restaurant has plenty of seating but my one complaint is that a line forms at the pickup and pay counter which is right by some of the tables.
