Solid, casual spot for some Vietnamese food. My friend and I split grilled chicken and grilled pork banh mi sandwiches and they hit the spot. I liked the chicken slightly better but want to try the charsiu pork next time since they were out of it this visit. Prices are reasonable and service is fast. I'll definitely be back.
I've been meaning to try Vietshack for a while and finally made it in for dinner. We both ordered the pho and enjoyed it. While I'm not a pho expert, I've had it at many places, and like another reviewer mentioned, the broth didn't have the deepest flavor -- but it was still good and satisfying. Service was outstanding, and it's great to see a woman-owned, family-run spot delivering a welcoming experience. Definitely worth a visit.

Id say order take out.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] You also bus your own table and make sure tp place your empty bowls and plates in the grey bin above the trash right before you leave. [[HIGHLIGHT]]My only complaint is that I couldn't find the soap in the bathroom.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Excellent pho, I'll definitely come back!
I saw some real good reviews so I thought I give this place a try. Two different Pho place in one week, I think this is my record. OK, this review and my rating is based on Pho only. Ordered my usual special Pho with all the meat. Little over $19 after tax, seems like this is going rate of price around here. Little station where you can make your own dipping sauce was nice. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Now being I came right after it opened I was disappointed to see the station not the cleanest.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Nothing crazy to where I am going to nit pick every little thing, but enough for me to comment on it. So my bowl came and I don't know why but stainless bowl was little odd and because of the color of the bowl made the broth more watery.. Took my first sip of the broth and it was not too bad. I mixed my vegetables and started eating it. I alway eat my Pho with the spoon, I grab some noodles and put them on the spoon, then dip the spoon in the broth and eat it with broth and noodle. For me this is the best way since you are not just shoving noodle and tasting broth separately. As I started to eat more and more I couldn't help noticing that the broth lacked flavor more than I thought. I finished my bowl thinking man, what a disappointment. This place again is too far for me so I probably won't return. Again I am sure based on reviews other dishes are good, but Pho for me was a no go. Just for the record, I always try the broth before I add any side vegetables and or chillie/Saracha.

I will never stop praising this "hole in a wall" for their fresh ingredients and attractive menu. If they start opening at 6am just by selling their signature coffee, that would be amazing!! (Take my wallet!!) I am also happy to find out that they now offer pho. I hope to go back soon to try it out!
This place is Awesome. Had the pork Bahn Mi and it was delicious. Bread crunchiness and texture perfect. The sweetness of sauce was just right. It wasn't like swallowing a teaspoon of sugar. The ingredients were fresh. Sandwich was better than some in Little Saigon back home [[HIGHLIGHT]]Plus side, you walk in not greeted by Vietnamese smell wall and come out not smelling.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I'd come back.

It's cool to see that they have expanded over to the fish shop that was next door. I wish them continued success.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a small little spot with a counter to order on the left side of the space and then the dining area to the right. You order at the counter & take a number to your table cafeteria style.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I got the veggie spring rolls and the veggie tofu noodles. My friend got the number 8b (bun thit nuong vermicelli bowl) and an order of the shrimp spring rolls. The spring rolls are scrumptious with fresh crisp veggies inside, but the best part is the peanut sauce! It's noy spicy like other places I've been and it's just perfect compliment to the roll. I always ask for a second sauce (I want one for each roll). The veggie stir fried noodles were delicious. The veggies were super fresh and tender crisp (cooked perfectly) and the noodles were cooked well and not overly greasy. I absolutely love how they slice the tofu into thin square strips so the edges crisp perfectly in the fryer and you dont have a big soggy middle (as you would with a normal full cube). My friend also thoroughly enjoyed her meal and said she would totally go out of her way to come back here and that her mom would love it too. Highly recommend, whether dining in or to-go! Staff was super friendly and helpful as well. I'm glad I'm only 5mins away from here so I can stop by any time I have a hankering for the food!

Their new pho is a little salty for me but it was still really good, I would recommend their chicken plate dishes as those are amazing and you get a huge chicken which is amazing!

Delish! No frills spot w counter service. Order, take a number, and choose your seat in the adjacent dining area. Self-serve sauce station (soy sauce, homemade chili oil, etc), as well as a water jug. I find it easier to wait for my food and spoon the chili oil directly onto my food. Visited Vietshack while in Tempe. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere was casual and fast-casual in style, and the service was friendly and efficient.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I really wanted to like this spot, especially as a fan of a well-balanced bánh mì. The sandwich was generous and good value, loaded with meat, but the execution didn't quite come together. The vegetables were tucked toward the back of the bun, making it hard to enjoy that classic balance in each bite. The mayo was far too heavy and the meat leaned overly sweet, which threw off the overall flavor. It also could have used more jalapeños and cilantro to bring some freshness and contrast. The bread was crispy, which was nice, but it was much larger in size and shape than a traditional baguette, leaning more toward a big roll than that light, airy texture you'd expect. I was craving a banh mi today and was in the area and stopped by here due to the great reviews. It did not disappoint! The staff were super friendly. I ordered at the counter to eat in restaurant. My sandwich was absolutely delicious! I'm used to getting a firmer tofu on a banh mi but they serve theirs with a softer tofu- and I loved it. The pickled veggies were absolutely delicious! I've been seeing this place for many years since I go to Floor and Decor often. Not sure why I never tried it but now I realized I've been missing out. It's a hidden gem! It's a tiny place from the outside but inside there is plenty of seating. You order up at the counter and then they bring the food to you. Dishes are on disposable plates so it's more of a fast food joint which I don't mind at all. I had looked up the menu online prior to the visit and to my surprise the price has not changed in a few years. Their price is super affordable and portion size is perfect. We ordered the chicken fried rice plate and the lotus salad and they were both amazing. I even came back the next day but they weren't open eventhough the sign said 11am and I was there a few minutes after. Looking forward to trying other dishes at a later time. Happy to have found a Vietnamese restaurant that is actually good and affordable. read more

My history with Viet Shack goes way back. I remember ordering food from the owners when they were selling through Facebook, meeting up at the old Fry's Electronics on Baseline to pick up egg rolls and other delicious bites. Seeing them grow into their own restaurant and thrive has been amazing. The service, the warmth, and--most importantly--the food are all top-tier. Everything on the menu is incredible. I've catered Viet Shack for some of the biggest moments in my life--my engagement party, my wedding, and most recently, my son's birthday. Honestly, I don't know why it took me so long to write this review, but I owe it to them. They've been a part of my life for years, and I can't recommend them enough! read more

Usually come here when I'm in Phoenix, the Bun and Bahn Mi have been very good. This last time I had the Bun with grilled pork and egg roll with the coffee and egg roll special, so 2 egg rolls on the Bun. Every thing is fresh and a very good value for the price. We stopped for a light lunch which turned out to be not so light. We started with the fresh spring rolls which were really fresh tasting. We had the traditional roll spring roll with shrimp and pork but they had several varieties including a vegetarian option. My husband had the grilled pork banh mi and I had the tofu. They were much larger than we were expecting so I was only going to eat half. BUT, the tofu was crispy on the outside and soft and creamy on the inside and I finished the entire sandwich. We don't have chicken broth but yes our beef broth for Pho does have added sugar.
Are there plenty of vegetarian and vegan options and do they use fish sauce in the vegetarian dishes?
