This review is a long time coming. I wanted to make sure I wasn't being biased so I went and revisited two other pho places that had at one time satiated the pho craving. I am proud to announce that Pho Thuan Thanh is my 100% AZ dedicated Pho place. The service is amazing! We are always greeted with a smile and our servers never seem bothered to take our order. The broth is amazingly delicious and so flavorful, you can taste the spices used. The ambiance has always been very welcoming. It doesn't matter what time we go, there is always people dining in. There was one night we showed up 15 minutes before closing, we hadn't realized the time. It was around six bucks, and I remember thinking there had to be a catch. There wasn't. I got more fat then meat, one whole literal piece was nothing but fat. i had set it aside to take pics and then forget , my apologies. We came here in the afternoon, it was pretty quiet regarding the amount of customers. They had a large screen with a Vietnamese music game show on. Service was okay. It started out well but then he didn't bring the check, my oldest who had been there before said you had to go ask for the check and pay up front. Paying up front isn't that weird to me. I just thought that the odd part was having to go up and ask for the check was odd. Nothing says pho off to a cold day like a big bowl of pho. I had the pho tai Bo vien. It's beef and meatballs pho. The soup is very nicely flavored here. Light but warm and soothing if you're under the weather. It comes with the regular pho add-ins on the side: bean sprouts, sliced jalapenos, lime etc. I really liked the flavor. There was a good amount of sliced beef and beef meatballs in it. Biggest had the pho tai vien with no white onions. I thought the bowl was huge but she ate the entire thing. Oh my... Kiddo 2 had the chicken and rice plate. She loved it. Pho Thuan Thank located on 43rd and Northern in Phoenix. Amazing pho here. Be very careful with choosing your go-to pho spot. I have visited a handful of pho restaurants in and around Phoenix. This spot is one of the best pho restaurants I have visited and chowed down at in Phoenix. Online reviews are hit & miss because some restaurants offer free egg rolls for a good online rating. Incentivizing a good online rating undermines the online rating system because diners are coerced to give a restaurant five stars when in fact it's a two star operation. Don't feed into the online eating system because people lie, people mislead others, and some restaurants are really sneaky and offer free food in exchange for a five star rating. The soup was good 5/5, noodle was cooked right 5/5, decent toppings (they even have pork rinds-top mo, yay!) but the sauce was ok only at most. That's why I rated it 4 stars. Freaking love this place. I'm still so excited that this is literally within walking distance from my home. The food is fresh and fantastic. I do still believe their pho broth is too sweet for my liking but that's simply a personal presence. Their broken rice is great. All the appetizers I've had are fantastic too. I've had a lot of vietnamese food around the valley and this restaurant is a hidden gem in north phoenix. The food is delicious and authentic. The prices are fair as well, seeing that food in general is increasing in price. We ordered a lot and had to check twice to see if my order was correct because we had a lot of food for the price. They had THE CRISPIEST banh xeo (savory rice pancake with pork, bean sprouts and shrimp) it was AMAZING and it was stuffed with deliciousness...the best I've had in the valley! I love supporting great family restaurants like this. The staff there are so kind and attentive - even offered to help me bring my food to my car. It's nice to see a great restaurant like this. Wow. My Newest west side pho favorite. (They have other locations too) 1st - The pho was piping hot, plentiful in noodles and meat. Great tasting broth 2nd - banh mi nice crusty roll but soft roll, generous meat portions. For a flavor bomb get the BBQ pork one. 3rd - Spring rolls were good but the veggies had a little crunch, but very little they were either pickled too long, not refrigerated, or just old because they were somewhat limp and not as crispy as I would expect. They tasted fine just texture was off. Next time i am going to Try the BBQ pork version instead of pork/shrimp. The bbq pork i had in the banh mi was tasty and moist vs the other type of pork/shrimp that i always find flavorless and dry NO MATTER What Pho restaurant i visit) Warning: if you like the peanut sauce that traditionally comes with spring rolls you will be disappointed. Their sauce seemed like it was just slightly water down hoisin sauce with a few peanuts thrown on top. It cannot be considered a peanut sauce in any way! Which is a shame, because the peanut sauce is one of the reasons I get spring rolls. We had a nice talk with friendly owner, as we have been to one of their other restaurants. They have three or four restaurants in the valley 1 run by his wife. They have had a restaurant in under this name for many decades with the original location still open. This is now one of my favorite Pho spots! The owner was extremely kind while actively serving & ringing people up. His service on both was seamless. The Chicken Pho was super filling, flavorful and delicious. The standard bowl was a generous portion and only $12. They don't skimp on the noodles or meat either. (It is where Lucky King Wah used to be, a place that we frequented a couple of times a month because of the convenience.) My brother tried the Pho Tai not know what to expect, and he liked it. I had the beef stew noodle soup. I enjoyed it but was surprised that the beef and carrots were tender but skimpy, but also large in size to compensate. We will be returning to try other dishes. Tried Bun Rieu and it was good! Lots of toppings including the shrimp paste, shrimp, pork hock, bbq pork, and the fried tofu was really crispy and delicious. Che trai cay was pretty disappointing since the toppings were disproportionately heavy on the jelly and not much else. I'd probably take a look at the Che in the fridge case before ordering. This new Vietnamese restaurant is in the old King Wah location. Been trying to find pho restaurant close by and this one did not disappoint. I of course had to try the Pho Tai and the broth was phenomenal. It may be the best I've had so far. Also tried the potstickers and they were nice and crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Delicious! I also ordered a Bahn mi sandwich to go so I have not tried it yet. The dining room is open and has been repainted so it looks very nice. The man who took our order (I think was the owner) was very friendly and told us a little bit about the restaurant. They also serve some Chinese dishes as well. I've been down to the one in Mesa and honestly drive that far when I need that soul hugging broth. Anyways, they opened a location close to my home and it's just as good as the one in Mesa.
