Tripping Animals / Fiden's Collab - Super Connected TIPA
Dave C.

My absolute favorite Vietnamese restaurant in Scottsdale, Arizona! Not only is the food phenomenal, their craft beer menu is second to none. The staff are very engaging and will make your experience world-class with their exceptional service. The ambiance is very cozy with an elegant decor. Great for a date night or meeting with friends. For their food, my favorite Spring Rolls are the Filet Mignon, Spider, Spicy Asian, Sunshine, and Bruce Lee. I love starting with their Vietnamese Wings and Spicy Bun Bo Edamame. For lunch or dinner, their Bahn Mi Sandwiches and Vietnamese Pho is super authentic and flavorful. Their craft beer menu rotate monthly and feature breweries of Monkish, Electric, Green Cheek, CLAG, Fiden's, & Russian River (yes, Pliney the Elder is sold here!). They also have a full bar and a great wine selection. If you have never visited Rice Paper- Shea, give them a shot. You will thank me later!!

Pho tai (beef)
Luna S.

I recommend the pho and soft spring rolls with peanut sauce. Very tasty! Best pho in Phoenix because it's fresh and mild in flavor. Beef was delicious and lots of noodles in the soup. However, the garlic noodles were dry and mediocre. The lemongrass chicken was also mediocre because it was only 4 small slices of chicken and it's marketed as a chicken dish and it has the same dry garlic noodles (yaki soba) so that is not a dish I recommend. Service is ok, the waiters are nice but the tables need more attention. The table setting was given to us in a disheveled way, the glass maybe used and sticky food spots that needed cleaning. Not a huge deal but inconvenient to ask for clean glass, cleaning rag, etc. I would go back again but during happy hour when pho is half off.

Food was fresh . Hot. Delicious. Our service was amazing! Fresh rolls are made fresh to order! So much to select from I wish I can order one of each thing to try The setting of the place was very calm & chilled . Beautiful decoration through out the restaurant. Seating for bar style & tables for dine in & dine out door available.

It's the Lunar New Year, so even in AZ, you would think they would be ramped up and prepared. It was rather substandard tonight though. Loooong wait and updated that meal would be out in a few. Another looooong wait and then told they lost our ticket. When meal finally arrived, one order of crispy rice had tofu instead of shrimp and had to be taken back. One order of ga pho was missing the spoon. Hard to eat pho with chopsticks...smh. Moving this from my Az Keeper collection to my Az Meh list.

Never disappointed! The service in here is top notch. Our server Enrique was amazing. The food is delicious. We got the braised pork, spring roll, and lobster puffs.

Bhan mi sandwich
Nancy S.

I stopped in for a bhan mi sandwich in the early afternoon and it was fine. It wasn't busy and I got served fairly quickly. There were only two other diners. The sandwich was fine but the pork meat seemed grisly and I had a hard time chewing it. This I one of those restaurants where you have to ask for salt; they don't put it on the table. Since it is a normal condiment that people use all the time, I think it's a problem that customers have to take time away from their food to get the attention of a server and wait for him/her to get something that should have been there to begin with. Also, as you can see in the photo, the salt shaker was dirty with someone's leftover food. Ick. I would not come back here.

Such a delicious meal! We love the rolls specifically and they have so many to choose from! Absolute amazing spices if you love spice! The crew is always amazing and the service is excellent. If you are up for a nice meal in a very fun cute place with great vibes - this is the one!

Add Shaking Beef to my accolades for the menu. Mane with sweet soy sauce which I don't believe I've had before. Use the rice to soak it up.

Such a cute little spot! The food is amazing, it's clean and fast service and we loved everything we tried. Great neighborhood spot.

The atmosphere inside is relaxed yet sophisticated with an overwhelming feeling of being in on a secret no one else knows, so cool! We happened to come early enough in the day to where getting a table wasn't an issue but I would say make a reservation when coming as it is limited seating and absolutely worth it. I came with my husband and my bestie for some birthday cocktails and bites. We were actually lucky enough to have our Uber driver point out the door on the way in, I don't want to give away any secrets but keep an eye out for a door marked with the goose silhouette. It was very back-door, hush hush The cocktails were fantastic! The Clover Club was by far my favorite but everything we got was wonderful! I definitely recommend getting some bites while you're there too, we got the charcuterie board and it was plenty for the three of us. Nick took great care of us, making excellent recommendations throughout our visit but the star of the show was Miss Bella! She was so sweet right off the bat, welcoming us in and wishing me a very happy birthday! She very clearly takes a lot of personal pride in her customer care and it shows! Plus, her nails?? Gorgeous! I had a reservation at 8 p.m. Located at…read moreThe Scottsdale Resort in McCormick Ranch, I had some initial issues with the parking situation. What looks like free parking in the self-parking area actually isn't. There's a sign that says you have to pay for parking with a QR code. Parking is only free for 30 minutes. I called the hotel to inquire about parking and they didn't answer. After walking to the front desk, we were told that valet is validated at the speakeasy. I'm not a fan of valet, but I'll take free valet service (minus the tip) over paying more for self parking. Now, let's get to the good stuff. As the self-appointed king of speakeasies, I'm back with another one. Ambiance: (4.5/5): I won't give all of the clues away, but walk to the third floor, look for a book shelf, and you're on the right track. Once you get inside, you'll find an intimate speakeasy. We're talking seating for 12 or so people or so, tops. I imagine getting a seat on a weekend is quite tough, so take that into account and make a reservation. When you do, you'll find out that there's a $25 cancellation fee per person if you cancel within 24 hours of your reservation. I understand that no shows negatively impact restaurants/bars, but I absolutely hate when the cost of doing business is passed off on customers. I'm reliable, but if I'm going with someone else, and they cancel, now I'm in a tough spot. Anyways, I loved the ambiance at The Madam. Think dark wood, sophistication, and some cowboy vibes. The seating was comfortable, too. Service (4.5/5): Minus the parking snafu, our bartender did an absolute awesome job taking care of us. She was friendly and attentive throughout. They were perfecting a new drink menu and even offered us two drinks on the house. Which was much appreciated! We were lucky, for sure. Food (N/A): While they do have food, I was on a liquid diet on this visit. Drinks (4/5): When I go to a speakeasy, I'm looking for creativity. You'll find that here for the most part, though I wish the list of craft cocktails was a little larger. There were only two or so cocktails that struck my fancy. I went with the one with green chartreuse, which is always a treat. But, when I'm at a speakeasy, I'm hoping that at least half of the selection intrigues me. Despite the limited selection, the cocktails are well made and have an interesting blend of flavors. The Madam is a true speakeasy (no signage and an ambiance which is true to the history of speakeasies), which makes them a winner in my book.

The speakeasy itself is small, cute, and cozy, with a very dark, intimate interior that instantly sets the mood. We commented that it would be an excellent spot for a date night. The bartender was especially impressive. She was very knowledgeable and attentive. He took the time to create a custom drink for my friend, and she absolutely loved it. I ordered an espresso martini made with rum, which was interesting and different from the usual vodka version. We didn't order food this time since we stopped in before our dinner reservation elsewhere, but other tables had food that looked great. I'd love to come back specifically to try their food along with more cocktails. Overall, a great little speakeasy with solid drinks, great service, and a cozy vibe. I'd definitely return.

My family and I came to check it out, and we all really enjoyed it. The menu is such a cool fusion of Asian and Mexican/Latin flavors -- definitely different, but in the best way. We ordered the pork carnitas board, and it was AWESOME. Calling it "carnitas" almost doesn't do it justice because the pork reminded me more of a super meaty pork belly -- tender, flavorful, and there was a TON of it. There were four of us sharing, and we still had leftovers! The homemade blue corn tortillas were amazing, and I loved all the different sauces. They had that Asian-fusion flavor with a Latin spin that somehow just worked. And give me ALL the pickled veggies! The pickled slaw and vegetables added that perfect tangy crunch to the rich pork and really balanced everything out. The kimchi rice on the side was another fun touch and went perfectly with the whole meal. It's a small, laid-back spot, and there was a one-man band playing acoustic guitar and singing some great classic songs while we were there, which made the atmosphere even better. Nothing stuffy or overdone -- just relaxed, good food, good music, and a really enjoyable night. Definitely glad TikTok led us to this little hidden gem. I'm happy we tried it, and I would absolutely go back!

Based on how this place is described and marketed, we were expecting an intimate, vintage-feeling evening where we could sit down, have a cocktail, listen to jazz, and enjoy the atmosphere. That was not our experience. There were definitely things we liked. The location was great, the overall theme and decor were beautiful, the lighting created a great atmosphere, and we enjoyed the food and drinks. The service was also very good. However, the entertainment was a huge miss and completely took us out of the experience. We walked in and the band was performing "Genie in a Bottle," followed by other current/recent pop songs, Backstreet Boys songs, and "Creep." The singer was repeatedly screaming into the microphone and encouraging everyone to scream and make noise. At one point, while sitting in what is supposed to be a speakeasy, we were literally listening to him sing "creep" which is one of the most depressing songs of all time. It felt much more like being at a loud dive bar or country bar than an intimate 1920s inspired speakeasy. My biggest issue is that the entertainment did not match the experience being advertised. You can decorate a room beautifully and make it look like the 1920s, but when the soundtrack is "Genie in a Bottle," "Creep," and Backstreet Boys songs being loudly belted into a microphone, the illusion disappears pretty quickly. The noise level also made it difficult to simply sit, have a drink, talk, and enjoy the space. We specifically chose this place because we wanted that relaxed jazz/speakeasy experience, and that simply wasn't what we got. The cocktail selection was another disappointment. For a speakeasy-style bar, I expected a stronger selection of specialty bourbon and whiskey cocktails. The prices also felt excessive for the overall experience. On top of the already-high prices, we paid a $20 entertainment cover ($10 per person) specifically for the band. I wouldn't have minded paying a cover for quality live entertainment that fit the advertised atmosphere, but the artist was not particularly impressive and, more importantly, the music didn't fit the theme at all. There is a lot of potential here. The space itself is beautiful, the service was good, and they nailed many of the visual details. Unfortunately, the entertainment is such a major part of a speakeasy experience that it overshadowed everything else for us. If you're specifically looking for jazz, flapper-era music, and an authentic-feeling 1920s speakeasy atmosphere, I would not recommend this place based on our experience.
