Visited here on July 4th -- not too busy. This was our 2nd visit. Staff is friendly and welcoming. We both had the fish tacos and they are a generously stuffed 2 tacos. On a prior visit we had the poke bowl (amazing flavor and generous portion) and their fish and chips. Hubby said the fish taco was better than fish and chips. We also liked that he could get a beer. Join their rewards program -- we got a $5 off coupon via email! Great option for fast food with healthy options! read more

Recommend by a friend, we usually don't make a point to visit'fast food' counter ordering places and previous pics showed plastic baskets & paper plates. But after reading the reviews, it was clear we needed to try Maui. Definitely impressed, not just for the food, but the selection was fantastic and the staff were extremely attentive even after being served food, until we left. Whereas most places once you've paid and left a tip... deliver the food and ignore you. Inside is decorated brightly with various surfboards, haiwiian paintings and even wonderfully made custom shark fin tables. Food was brought out freah and quickly despite being 2/3rds full on Saturday lunchtime. Tuna was fresh and tasty, made to order. Tacos were huge, despite being touted as small bites, 1 per plate. Loaded with fresh fish and toppings. A variety of sauces are available by the drinks counter, teas, beers and sodas as normal. Even to the tail end of out meal, servers actively cleared away dishes and asked if we wanted to go containers. Definitely be back read more

Aloha! I most recently stopped by Maui Fish House on a Tuesday evening for dinner. Located in North Scottsdale, this Hawaiian establishment is in the same shopping center as Harkins and several other businesses. It's a busy shopping venter but you'll find a free spot. Ambiance (3/5): Relatively small restaurant. Casual yet comfortable. Mostly table seating along with a small patio. They have free WiFi which is always a nice touch. Service (4/5): Friendly service though it's not a big part of the experience. You order at the counter and then they bring your food to your table. Drinks (3.5/5): Solid soft drinks, more elevated than your typical Coca-Cola products. They also have a limited selection of beers, including Hawaiian beers, though they're a bit pricey. Food (3.5/5): On my most recent visit, I had the ahi tuna poke appetizer which comes with a pretty solid portion of ahi tuna with wonton chips. The rare tuna is marinated well and paired nicely with the chips. I added a side of fries to the mix. While they didn't have seasoning, the generous portion size was appreciated. Maui Fish House is a bit of a hit and a miss. I recommended going with the ahi tuna! read more

We came on a Saturday night before our movie- it was pretty busy! My husband ordered for us: for me the macadamia nut mahi mahi plate and for him the Baja fish tacos, and a basket of fries to share. When I saw he had accidentally subbed fresh veggies for the cole slaw so I went up to the register and they immediately went to fix with the kitchen and refund me the up charge (amazing!). Our food was hot, fresh and delicious- I especially loved the sauce on top of my fish. Walls are painted beautifully with Hawaii themed murals and the Hawaiian spirit throughout! read more

You're not in Hawaii, but the food captures the island's essence perfectly. The ambiance is inviting. If only you were gazing into the sparkling ocean, you'd feel as if you were at Mama's in Maui. read more

If you are use to eating a mahi mahi taco from the Islands and expecting to have a large piece of fish in your taco, this is not the place. Here you will get a taco with small 1/4" pieces of fish, smothered in coleslaw, mango and tomato salsa and I believe some grated cheese. Not Hawaiian style. read more

Not cheap. Probably the best Maui Maui tacos I've ever had. The coleslaw was awesome --with a nice pop-up horseradish. This salsa was just right. Highly recommended. They're doing a rebranding to Maui fish house. Will return if in the area again! read more

Restaurant is very clean. Love the little surf board tables. There were several sauce options (hot sauce, ketchup, soy sauce, etc) The coconut shrimp was delicious. Loved the sauce that came with it but also love dipping in tarter. The macadamia nut mahi was ok. Nothing to rave about. The veggies I got for an up charge were delicious Fish and chips were ok. read more

Wow. This place was impressive, not only were the fish tacos really good and delicious but the service was amazing and the owner was super friendly and helpful. The staff were very welcoming as well and paid a lot of attention to our needs and were proactive. We also had the fish and chips and this was so light and crispy and the fries were very good. We sat outdoors in the perfect Arizona spring weather. What really made the visit was the owner's friendliness and hospitality. I will be back to try more items on the menu as the fish was super fresh. This is a must visit!!! read more

A light rain on a breezy Scottsdale afternoon and lovely outdoor seating - reminds me of my 15 visits to Maui and dining at the Maui Fish House there as well! Great feeling. And the Mahi Mahi Fish & Chips are so fresh, tender, perfectly battered and lightly fired and delicious. This is the real deal. The fries are seasoned wonderfully with maybe a hint of paprika or Spike seasoning?! The portions are nice and the.coleslaw has a bit of a citrus flavor - so yum! I can't believe I ate the whole thing!! read more

5 stars without hesitation. I was in Phoenix visiting family and found this place while searching for an early dinner spot. Honestly, I'm shocked it doesn't already have a perfect rating because it definitely earned one from me. We shared the poke bowl and the fish tacos, and both were so good. Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and well made. You can tell they really care about the quality of the food. I'm already planning what to order next time, and the seafood pasta is at the top of my list. Highly recommend if you're in the area and looking for a great meal. read more

My partner and I stopped by Coconut's Fish Cafe for a quick lunch while out running errands. We went on a Thursday afternoon around 1:30pm and it wasn't busy at all - plenty of tables available. I ordered the Fish & Chips and my partner got the Poke Bowl. The food came out really quickly, within a matter of minutes. I thought my Fish & Chips were great; the fish was moist and flavorful and the fries were hot and crispy. My partner wasn't the biggest fan of his Poke Bowl. He said the poke was sort of mushy and the whole thing was pretty bland. He ended up asking for some poke sauce to put on. It definitely needs it, not sure why it doesn't automatically come with the dish. The employee at the counter was friendly and helpful. She also checked-in after the food arrived, which is excellent customer service for a counter-order restaurant. I would definitely come back for the Fish & Chips. I would also be interested in trying a grilled fish plate next time. Think we'll pass on the Poke. read more

I go here at least once a month for my grilled mahi platter! I get the blackened fish, but I always tell them to add the butter on top to keep it moist. Sometimes they overcook the fish so be sure to ask them to keep it moist. Tonight was excellent and it came out piping hot and perfect! The rice was nice and hot and had a perfect chewy texture - done just right. The fries never fail! They taste just like McDonald's fries; it's a true compliment not an insult!!! Aside from the food, I absolutely love the service! Every one of the staff is always, always friendly! They pay attention. They ask you if you need anything. They seem to care about what you think and how you like the food. Really great group of workers; management does a great job! read more

I've been going to "coconuts" now called Maui Fish House about 2 times a week for about 3 years It was always HOT FRESH and felt very CLEAN. Clean eating that is. I gave it one last chance yesterday a total of 3 times in a row of barely warm food, fishy fish where I almost couldn't swallow and once I left a few hours later, my tummy was upside down. I was so grossed out all night. I will NEVER go back. It was almost cold old and fishy tasting which was so gross. Not one person was the same worker as before. So the "name change" shows me EVERYTHING changed. YUCK I would rather stay hungry than give them another chance unfortunately. And again i gave them 3 chances as I loved that place and they failed every time. Goodbye to that quick fresh fast and clean option for meals! Coconuts you will be missed ! read more

I have eaten here a couple times, but this last time my wife and I both got horrible food poisoning. When we called to report the issue, the manager completely ignored our complaint and concern and told us we were crazy. I did not appreciate his tone or attitude towards us. Will not not be dining here again. read more

Like others have mentioned, I went to go to Coconuts and was very disappointed when it was gone, and I saw a sign for Maui Fish House where the Coconuts sign used to be... but I was happy again when I went inside and found out that it was exactly the same and they just changed the name... Odd business choice if you ask me... Anyhow, once I went inside, I was greeted by Erica and I was helped by Kyle... I was surprised when I asked if Kyle was the owner's son and I was told no... This young man certainly carries himself very well and is definitely a cut above when it comes to Customer service... You could say the same thing for Erica... These kids are wonderful ambassadors for the restaurant that they work for and in my opinion, they should be commended and given a raise... Customer service is dead nowadays, and the younger generation is usually completely clueless when it comes to service... These two are far above and beyond average and I hope they are being well taken care of by the business owner. especially Kyle, I think a lot of young men have egos, and it is pretty apparent to me that this young man was raised right... but bravo to both kids. read more

One of these days when cooking sounds like a total drag or your taste buds are all meh, just waltz on over to Coconuts. I can basically roll out of bed and get there. The vibe is adorbs, the spot is sparkling clean, the crew is always all smiles, the grub is on point, and the beer? Ice. Cold. read more

We came in at 7:30 and were forced to have Togo containers. Just not the same as the old coconuts. Food is still good.

Stopped by here after an appointment at Mayo. Owner was there and shared their story as it just opened. Food was great as was the service

Food was great, with more re than Mahi! Had the Ono fish plate with butter. Just like being in the islands

The family and i stopped in for a quick lunch on our first day of spring break. We were welcomed by a nice gentlemen who ended up being one of the owners of the location. He was very friendly and offered us a menu. The place was busy but handled the crowd well. The staff was friendly and it was clear that the team was working well together. The seafood dishes were excellent. My daughter let me sample her fish and chips and the breading was light and crunchy and the cut of mahi was excellent. i highly recommend. The portion size of the chicken pasta my other daughter had was huge so she'll have plenty of leftovers for our stay in Scottsdale. The sauce on the pasta was excellent. i highly recommend this place for lunch or dinner! read more

Unpretentious, quick, tasty. Although it's inexpensive, the food is miles above "fast food." My wife had the macadamia-crusted fish with mango salsa; I had grilled ono, and we split a piece of key lime pie. We were truly impressed by the freshness of the fish and side dishes, the emphasis on flavor and texture, and this isn't to leave out the very friendly helpful staff. The owner came around and checked in with us: a nice touch. We visit Scottsdale to see family a few times a year, and we will return and recommend this nice easy gratifying place. Rare to find a restaurant without self-importance where everything tastes and looks good . . . as advertised. Mahalo indeed. read more

Had a great lunch, mahi mahi with rice and veggies. Everything was well prepared and came out really fast. The fish was tasty and flaky with proper flavors the lemon added a great touch. We had a nice dinner for four on a Friday evening. The patio is a nice size so it accommodates a lot of people. We ordered the calamari, fish and a and a poke bowl salad. The calamari are heavily breaded and while crunchy the strips of calamari steak were still tender. The fish and chips are some of the best we've had, moist fish, flavorful batter and well cooked thin French fries. The poke bowl was the bomb however. Very fresh tuna with a nice kick of spice in my spicy version, plenty of pickled ginger, edamame, red onions, A few slices of avocado, fresh cucumbers, radishes, and chunks of mango. It was very flavorful and quite a large portion. Our friends ordered the fish plates and one suggestion would that be they get slightly larger plates as their food was falling off of them and hard to manage! read more

I have had a long history with Coconuts, starting with my first visit at the original Coconuts in Maui over 10 years ago. We enjoyed it tremendously and were very happy when we found out a second location opened in Scottsdale. It was very good. Today we tried their newest location on Mayo Blvd. The seafood pasta was always my favourite and it tasted just as good. We tried something new, the Taco mountain. The presentation didn't look as good as on the video screen, and the fish was rather on the dried side, which means it wasn't cooked to order like good taco places. The ratio of brown rice to the taco condiments needs adjusting in my opinion. Other than that, it was a good experience. read more
