3.13.26 - We drove all the way to talking stick to eat after the Ostrich festival at Rawhide. Some wanted to gamble and Ocean Trails was still open. They were busy at around 10:15pm so we had to wait a bit for a table. We also had a large group of 8 but luckily we were able to get seated. Our server did an amazing job with our large group. Some in the group ordered pan roasts and some ordered crawfish etouffee. My friend also ordered clams. I always get the combo pan roast here. It's a mix of crawfish, shrimp and crab. Choose your spice level from 1-10. I forgot to specify a number and just said "hot" but it was not spicy enough for me. I normally get 7-8. I ended up adding in all the hot sauce options that were on the table plus some chili powder. Now that had a good kick to it. Ask for that! Price for the combo pan roast has doubled from before! It used to be $20, then it slowly increased to $30, and now it's $40! It's good, but I can also make it at home and get more for my money. read more

This place feels like someone at the casino ran out of ideas--and space--and decided, "Sure, let's cram a seafood restaurant into this random corner and call it a day." The result is a space so small and awkward it borders on absurd: a few tightly packed tables, a tiny circular bar, and just enough room to guarantee a wait time that feels wildly out of proportion to what's actually being offered. It's wedged at the end of a hallway off the casino floor, with all the ambiance of a service passage. Calling it a restaurant is generous; it's more like a seafood-themed afterthought. Honestly, it would make far more sense as a grab-and-go sandwich counter or coffee stand. As it is, it comes across as the fast-food version of seafood--minus the speed, convenience, or value. I was there with my 21-year-old daughter and we sat at the bar, which turned out to be a mistake. Instead of even the bare minimum of professionalism, the staff treated the space like their personal break room. We were subjected to loud singing, nonstop chatter, and unfiltered complaints about coworkers and management--all happening just a couple of feet away while we were trying to eat. It wasn't just distracting; it was genuinely uncomfortable. There's something uniquely off-putting about paying for a meal while being forced to listen to an impromptu staff gripe session. With so many legitimately good restaurants nearby, there's absolutely no reason to waste time--or money--here. It's the kind of place that makes you immediately regret not going literally anywhere else. I would have happily waited to dine at Orange Sky, where the setting and service actually match expectations. In hindsight, skipping this entirely wouldn't have just been the better option--it would have been the obvious one. read more

Ever since we had the oyster bar at the palace station in Vegas, we've been on a hunt for something similar! Nothing in Arizona has come close!!! Until we ate here... We each got the house pan roast and shrimp boil to share. Be careful with the spice level though...I wish I would've gotten a 1 instead of a 3. I'd say skip the shrimp boil if you're getting any of the specialties bc you'll have enough seafood..they don't skimp out on the portions! Gotta say of all the Talking Stick Casino and Resort restaurants we visited during our recent stay, Ocean Trail was the least favorite by far. From the food, to the service to the cost, all left something to be desired. I kinda blame myself for thinking I could get good Cajun/Creole food in AZ. Being from Texas and having direct decedent's from Louisiana, I should have known seafood gumbo and seafood dip Cajun stuff potato wasn't the move. I love their Louisiana Gumbo as well as the masses. So much so, I missed the last of it by 15 minutes. Tried their beer steamed clams. Not the biggest size but the garlic-beer broth with small bits of tasso ham swimming in it made it all the worth while. Bread basket is always delicious pillows of heaven. Met some freinds at Ocean Trail inside Talking Stick resort. Did not expect a lot being inside a casino, but I was wrong!! Very limited seating, 12 table at most. Not a huge menu, Not inexpensive, but Not overpriced, but what they do, they do well! Generous portions, pick your heat level and great balance of flavor. This tiny little gem is my favorite Caesar salad in the whole world. Ice cold romaine lettuce, crunchy croutons and dressing is a show stopper....all served on a chilled plate.... The sea food is so fresh and it feels like you are in your favorite aunts kitchen.... Nice little restaurant right in the middle of the casino. I thought it was a bar but it's a Cajun restaurant. I got the creole Cajun dish with the shrimp cocktail. You can order certain type of heat/spice to your dish. I got a 5 out of 10 and was kind of sweating. It was a great meal served in a bowl with rice. So delicious. They even have more hot sauce on the table for you to add if you want more heat. The shrimp cocktail was had 5 huge shrimp and they were meaty, fresh and tasty. We are a sucker for pan roast every time we go to Vegas, we need to stop by Palace Station. So when we saw Ocean Trail serving pan roast inside Talking Stick Casino, we had to try. Started out with half dozen Blue point oysters from Virginia ($27). The sizing was inconsistent. We sat at the bar to watch the chef make our combo pan roast with spice level 5. He adds five spice, shakes the Cajun spice jar 5 times which corresponds to the spice level we picked, adds White wine brandy, more Spices and lemon juice. The pan roast had crawfish, shrimp and crab meat for $39. Choice of white rice or dirty rice. We chose white and wished we tried dirty which is white rice with ground beef. Never seen this option any where else. We enjoyed the flavors but the pan roast here was pricer and I'm used to having sausage and more seafood for lesser price. The creamy stew was on the thinner runnier side not chunky. The portions were also smaller. Reasons for the overall 3 stars. If you're craving and want to spend your winnings, go for it. Otherwise, get it at the original pan roast at Palace Station. read more

Absolute homerun all around. My wife and I go to the casino maybe once a month. We almost always go to Ocean's Trail. Absolutely outstanding gumbo and etoufee, equal to the best I've had in New Orleans. 10 out of 10. About the only negative I've ever experienced is the oysters. Have to admit the oysters were only average. As to the outstanding gumbo, Caeser salads, soups. Just seriously spot on. Everything is cooked right in front of you; and the cooks (and foodservers) are very friendly, outgoing, etc. I normally don't tip the cooks, but here I do. Granted, I worked at a restaurant all through college so I get it. But, Yes Sir.... This place is the cat's meow. read more

Short version: AVOID this place if you have a shrimp allergy. Longer version: We ordered the steam P.E.I mussels, served in a creamy creole lemon herb sauce. It didn't exactly look like a creamy creole lemon herb sauce, but we thought maybe our definition of creamy and the chef's was different. Then... *half-way through the bowl, I saw a tiny shrimp in the broth. Problem! My dining companion is allergic to shrimp. *the manager and one of the cooks said we should have known it comes with shrimp because Seafood Creole, another dish on the menu, has shrimp. But, we didn't order that? *the manager says, "I got you!" which we took to mean we would not have to pay for the meal given the dangerous mistake they have made. Nope, it meant he was summoning the EMT to ask my companion to sign a form declaring she was declining medical treatment. A complete, CYA, of course. *the manager tells us that ANYTHING on the menu could be cross-contaminated with shrimp and he basically could not guarantee my friend's safety. Again, no mention of this on the menu. *also, the manager thought we should know he had "a lot going on." To top it all off, the only comped one of our drinks. We love eating here. We normally sit at the bar area but instead we decided to try one of the tables. That seemed to be a mistake since our server never came back to take our order. Much faster before. After ten minutes, I hailed him down and also noticed that people that sat at the bar were served immediately. We gave the server our order and it must have been 25 minutes before we received our meal. There used to be an Asian lady cooking all the meals, but not this time. We both had the Crab Pan Roast which was really good as normal. The server came up to us half way through our meal and apologized for being late with our food and comp us a Key Lime pie. We came here on a Tuesday, it's a very small dining room so our wait wasn't too bad so we got a drink at the bar. Our server wasn't the best- 2/5 as she forgot our drink and also our side orders - and it wasn't even busy or a weekend/dinner rush hour. But onto the food-- Food was amazing! The pan roast with dirty rice had so much creole flavor to it and the heat (level 6) was perfect! I just wished I would've gotten a side of rice cause you could easily feed 2 people with this 1 entree. The shrimp gumbo was also good and had that southern NOLA flare to it. Over the years I used to love this place because of their seafood pots. The staff ALWAYS gives 5 star service, even if you're miffed from gambling losses, this will cheer you up. However, since I moved back from vegas, it's just not...that great. The oysters are HUGE 75% of the time and they don't do mignonette sauce. If you ask for it, they'll make it but it is a blend of raw onion and quite pungent. Not the subtle chopped shallots in vinegar you think you're getting. I've come to find that each time I think it deserves a go again, it'll be different - but it isn't. It's a great option for seafood lovers, but I'd venture to send someone a recommendation in phoenix now for oysters. I went here for the first time and I am a big pan roast fan. I ordered crab only pan roast. When it arrived I swear it looked like vomit. It was thick like hot oatmeal. They work as a team where every guest is everyone's responsibility. This teamwork enhances the dining experience as you feel like you are the main and only guest. They are super friendly and attentive. The food was equally good. I had a shrimp Cobb salad and wanted a customized way. When it was prepared, it wasn't what I requested however, they quickly followed up and made it to my satisfaction. I ordered a special they had for $15. two stuffed ravioli and shrimp and crawfish in a red sauce, It was delivered to the cook, looked ok but it sat for maybe 5-7 min. when it was finally served, the shrimp were cold. my waitress asked if I wanted it remade and I said yes, second time it came out, appeared there were no shrimp, just a bunch of tiny overcooked crawfish which should have been tossed instead of served, and the sauce was much spicier than requested, i complained and they said there were shrimp and they were all the same size. well I found 3 tiny shrimp, inedible as in overcooked . i sent it back then my entree was delivered. a bowl of chicken gumbo, and I had asked how much more to add shrimp, I was told it would be $27 instead of $19, so I agreed when the food came out, the chicken was overcooked, and the shrimp a little better. later the manager came to speak to me about the special I returned, he was playing dumb and tried the CYA with me telling me all the shrimp are the same size, and he looked at the 3 shrimp that were provided. nothing worse than a liar when my bill came, they charged me $45 instead of $27 and still charged me $15 for the returned food and worse, this clown was trolling around like he thought I was going to run. yet for the first 30 min I was there, there was no sight of him he kept walking in circles. my waitress came back and I told her they overcharged me for the gumbo, which she took care of she was the only decent part of the meal on the bill I explained what I thought about her boss would I recommend this place not in this lifetime read more
