Pappadeaux never disappoints! We went for lunch. I ordered the crawfish and shrimp étouffée and hubby ordered the rainbow trout lunch special. They were delicious! The portions were also very nice. My étouffée definitely had lots of crawfish and shrimp in it. We both had to ask for boxes for our leftovers. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. We ordered a side of Caesar salad. We know their portion was big. So, I told our waitress that we would be sharing the salad. When she brought out our salad, she already split it in two smaller dishes. That made it so much easier for us! We love going to Pappadeaux, especially for lunch. Their lunch specials are definitely worth going for.
You start your walk in and the transformation begins into another place entirely. Not simply because your not at home Dorothy but because of the well done everything to help you feel as though your in a soulful part of something special. Despite all this I am usually not going to pick this place due to the fried food. However, a college picked and he was buying so I said I'll make it happen and thankfully so did Pappadeaux. The grilled seafood skewers were incredible each piece was cooked perfectly the Shrimp, Scallops, & Salmon all perfect nothing overdone with just a bit of grill char that adds so much flavor in my opinion. Surprisingly I would be thrilled to come back for those skewers and KD our waitress was awesome! We even were surprised with a birthday dessert a slice of Key Lime Pie.
Happy Hour For the win! This place is huge, fancy and popular. I love the garden area for photo ops and the fountain. Indoors the decor is really perfect for a Louisiana Cajun Fish Vibe. Well played. Here is the best plan. Go during Happy Hour sit at the bar and order ANY of the Happy Hour items for the win! You cannot lose! They are all delicious. My favorite has been the catfish. We had two appetizers and two drinks for 26.00! It was a great value and a perfect amount of food without spending big bucks. There is always super nice people to wait on you and it is fun to talk to new people at the bar. I don't drink alcohol but they have some real fancy drinks that were fun to watch being prepared. Try it out right off the 17 for easy off and back on the freeway.
I live right by this place for years and always pass it and never tried it !!! And I looked it up and it's a literal staple in Arizona state !!! My parents and I went here for dinner and we got mozzarella sticks and a sampler platter cause we wanted to try something different and it was all good !! I got a watermelon dream and tbh off the bat it was odd but it grew on me and was really good !! The court yard is super cute and ambience of the whole place is great !! The restaurant is also very clean for how old / long it's been open! Truly a great experience !! Server was nice too :) Will of course be back !!
Alo our server was great! She was so sweet, engaging, and attentive!! This was my 1st time here. The menu was overwhelming because how can you not want everything? Sitting outside was very nice and private, lovely ambiance for any event as long as the weather permits Clean bathrooms and enough mirrors to make anyone wonder why are you in here for so long?! Great size for moms and accessibility needs in a single stall. Food was really good as well as the drink. I could have had a little more seasoning on my fish but still really good. The shrimp were a very nice size and the grits were nice and creamy in this Cajun combo lunch! Pop in, sit in Alo's section and enjoy a great lunch, dinner, or even a snack! Took some dirty rice to go for the snack!
When I say it's been a minute, over 6 years since I've been to any Pappadeaux location. Stop in for lunch today to decompress and get some good food. Hade a peach side variety to start and the catfish ettoffee with Shrimp and dirty rice. Pappadeaux always hit the spot. My bartender was on point provided excellent service and providing a calming atmosphere. Love sitting at the bar to people watch and listen to the surroundings conversation. Make sure to come out between 11 AM & 3PM for lunch. You won't be disappointed.
Overall, the food, service, and atmosphere were all wonderful. The pricing also felt very reasonable for the quality. Definitely a place worth visiting for both small and large parties. I visited because I was searching for a steak place, and only later realized this is actually more of a seafood restaurant. The ribeye turned out truly excellent. The meat was fresh and you could really taste the quality. The steak was cooked well, nicely seared on the outside with a great crust, but not overly charred. We also ordered the seafood pasta and it was absolutely delicious. Both the sauce, chewy octopus legs and fresh seafoods. Although fries took too much of the portion of the fried fish platters and the fish was thin. What made the experience even better was the atmosphere. We had a fairly late reservation, they were still very patient and took great care of us until the end of the evening. They were also giving out bead necklaces as part of a New Orleans tradition on Tuesday, which made the experience feel festive and fun, and we felt very welcomed.
As a seafood lover I always wanted to try this place, and finally got the chance to do so when my friends decided to celebrate a birthday here. The restaurant has a beautiful patio dining area and a very spacious indoor dining hall, with marina/wharf decor appropriate for a seafood restaurant. I ordered the fried oyster platter (fried oysters with french fries) and found the fried oysters to be delicious and well seasoned, but the generously portioned fries were on the dry side. My dining companions all seemed to enjoy their orders. Service was efficient and friendly. The prices are not budget friendly, but the place is worth a visit for an occasional splurge or celebratory meal.
Food: This will be quick and easy! Loved it! This was not my first time and wont be my last time at Pappadeaux. The only problem is there is not one in California but when I run across them I make it my business to be in attendance. The food is always high quality, well seasoned and de-li-cious!! I had a house special loaded with perfectly cooked scallops, shrimp and crawfish in a creamy sauce with garlic and cheese mashed potatoes. Scallops can be had to cook as over cooking them makes them tough but these were perfect. I also had a cup of the seafood gumbo. Well, my family is part Cajun and while it was not just like home, it was quite good. So good, I will order on future trips. Ambiance: Gotta love it! Very spacious, well decorated and with a slight luxurious feeling yet a bit of New Orleans sass. Service: The service was great. Let me say this Arizona gets it right a lot for service. The food was served quickly and hot and fresh. The server was polite, helpful and professional. Parking: Plenty of parking available in the parking lot Overall: Pappadeaux features a nice menu of options from fried Cajun favorites to soups and salads and fresh fish options. The food is well seasoned and delicious with great service and good food portions. If you love a little Nawlins flavor this is for you.
We had a reservation at 4:45pm and got seated within 5 minutes of arrival. The place is intimate with low lighting for the dining area. Friendly service and our server Michael was a pleasure to have for our table. Very kid and family friendly restaurant even though it's a seafood focus place. They a nice selection for kids menu. My daughter loved her salmon and almost ate the whole entree size order. The Parmesan buttered noodles was tasty and meets my youngest daughter's expectation. The oysters were delicious with the New Orleans hot sauce. I could have eaten whole dozen but shared with rest of my family. My daughters tried raw oysters for the first time and liked it. The dirty rice was flavorful and unexpectedly good tasting. The cream sauce for the Atlantic Salmon Alexander was rich and creamy that it makes good a great bread dipping sauce. The grilled shrimp was tasty. My rainbow trout was done right and it was good. Overall, a great experience was had by all and this restaurant was recommended by our Airbnb owners.
Our first time here . Our daughter just moved to Scottsdale and wanted to try it during her birthday week. We loved the vibe ...large dining room very cool outside, courtyard and inside. We went for lunch but I'm guessing it's beautiful at night. Our waitress was awesome, she explained all the menus to use and its flexibility...which is always a positive. We started with the garlic bread and my wife and daughter got cocktails. We ordered a lot of different stuff being it was our first time. Fried shrimp great! Good cocktail and tartar sauce. Cajun chicken strips were mild but good. Could have been spicier. Shrimp E'touffee with andouille was what our daughter got and she really enjoyed it. We also got the pasta Marti gras which was just ok...a little sweet. I got a huge baked potato...awesome. I also added on a soft shell crab which was delicious but lukewarm. I should have sent it back to get a hot one. But I would order it again. We were too full for dessert but they sent our daughter home with free cheesecake for her birthday. Overall a great 1st visit. This company is based out of Dallas and has a rich history with pictures and story's in the men's room. Love the backstory. Any restaurant group that has been open for about 100 years has to be doing something right. They have other brands in Texas I see .

Great attitude, There was one problem, we don't have a server like the one we had in Phoenix..Jessie was everything...She was enthusiastic, attentive and made sure we were satisfied with our food. Incredible Food & Outstanding Service! We had a fantastic dining experience at Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen! The ambiance was incredibly inviting, featuring a large, open dining room and a beautiful full bar that immediately set the perfect tone for the evening. It is absolutely the kind of place I would love to revisit. The Service: Our server, Jackie, was phenomenal! Even though her section was packed and very busy, she was highly attentive to our needs and checked on us regularly. She was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and went above and beyond by suggesting interchangeable options to perfectly match our specific preferences. Outstanding service like hers really elevates the whole meal. The Food: Almost everything we ordered was excellent! With the minor exception of the gumbo, which just didn't quite hit the mark for our personal taste. Other than that, every single dish was absolutely delicious and perfectly prepared. Anytime I come to Arizona, I make sure to carve out time for dinner at Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen. It has easily become one of my favorite spots. Today was especially meaningful for my family as we celebrated my mother's 3-year anniversary of receiving her kidney transplant at the Mayo Clinic. From the moment we sat down, our waiter, Leandrew, welcomed us with such a warm and inviting smile. He immediately began offering recommendations and was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. To say he knew the dishes well would be an understatement -- he could explain every ingredient in detail for anything we asked about. We always start with the Lump Crab & Spinach Dip with crostinis, and as always, it was absolutely to die for. For our entrées, we each ordered the salmon topped with shrimp and lump crab meat, finished with a rich butter sauce and mashed potato purée. Despite how busy the restaurant was, everything came out quickly and tasted absolutely magical. While the food was phenomenal, the service is truly what made this experience unforgettable. Leandrew went above and beyond, and I genuinely hope he receives the recognition he deserves. We'll absolutely be back again. Until next time! read more

I heard so much about this place being the best Cajun restaurant in the valley and we happen to drive by so we came here for dinner. Saturday 5 P.M. I expected to be waiting but we got sat immediately, which was nice. Restaurant was pretty big and had large number of siting which was good.. But with that also came loud noises from people. Our server was friendly and very knowledgeable with the dinner menu. Started off with dozen oyster and server said it was half blue point and half Gulf. We love blue point and it's been a while since we had some.. Server said he would take care of us and make it dozen blue point.. Well he is off to a good start.. Oyster came and yup nice fresh chilled oyster and it was yummy... Ordered crispy skin red fish & jumbo crab with cup of seafood gumbo and pasta Mardi Gras. Presentation of the dishes were very nice. Plates looked yummy and pretty. My fish was pretty yummy with the skin being crispy added extra touch. But man, that toasted Chile harissa sauce was something else. I never had harissa and it was very unique, flavorful slight tangy definitely not spicy but full of flavor and went well with the fish. Spinach on the bottom was also pretty tasty and full of flavor. Now dish did say jumbo crab but I literally got 2 small snail size crab, very misleading and if the price was high because of the crabs, then I got robbed. Pasta Mardi gras also looked very presentable and yummy. Nice selection of seafood, shrimp was yummy and that andouli sasauge was something else.. Just packed with flavor. The food runner did forget my seafood gumbo so eventually it came out. Small 6 Oz cup full of flavor, good amount of shrimp and sasauge, probably one of the best gumbo I have had.. But when I saw the check and saw how much it was, it actually got me pretty pissed off. $15.95 for a cup of gumbo.. Really? It was pretty dang good but was it worth almost $16 for small cup? No. Maybe I'm getting too cheap as I get older.. I don't mind paying high dollar for amazing food but that cup of gumbo price was little too much. Finished off the dinner with creme brulee and sweet potato pecan pie/with ice cream. Creme brulee was pretty darn good with that slight burnt crisp top. Sweet pecan pie was also pretty darn good. Ice cream was a nice touch with the pie. Over all the food was awesome and service was excellent. But I still cried about the price of gumbo on my way home.. I would definitely come here again food was pretty darn good, but definitely special occasion for me since price is little up there. read more
So after a lovely evening watching the Scottsdale Philharmonic...I had a craving for some dessert. Unfortunately, they did not have what I was craving for and guess it has been some time that they haven't served it again..but I had my heart set on some ricotta cheesecake... But cheeeesseeee happens...lololol I ended up getting a crème brûlée. Which is always a delightful dessert. Service was tip top and vibe there was enjoyable. I will be back for food and hopefully a ricotta cheesecake finds its way back here on your dessert menu. Until I cheeeeesssseeee again Pappadeaux..Thank you. read more

This is a very popular seafood restaurant so I had high expectations especially since my cousin would tell me all the time that this is his favorite restaurant in Arizona. However, I thought the food was just mediocre and the prices were slightly overpriced Parking was easy since they have a big parking lot Inside was very spacious and had plenty of seating Service was friendly, attentive, and welcoming. They have lunch specials that are served daily 11am-3pm BUT seniors (62+) get to enjoy lunch prices all day! There is a good variety of lunch specials (salads, gumbo, fish, fried seafood, pasta, etc.). Pricing was slightly expensive so expect to pay $22-$30+ even for lunch specials! Got the Pasta Mardi Gras ($29.95) and it consisted of linguine with crawfish, sausage, mushrooms, shrimp, and tomato cream sauce. It came with a lot of linguine and a few chunks of crawfish and several shrimp. The tomato sauce was quite salty and overpowering so it was hard to enjoy the seafood. I tried to take off the cream on some of the seafood pieces and thought the crawfish and shrimp tasted quite bland and could have been more fresh. I felt this dish was overpriced and nothing special so this was 6/10 for me Fried Shrimp Combo ($22.95) was ok. It consisted of fried catfish, chicken tenders, shrimp, and French fries. The fried catfish was a little too fishy even though it was fried. The fried shrimp, chicken tenders, and French fries were nothing special and just tasted like typical fried food. It would have been enjoyable if it wasn't so salty and it was more fresh. This was 6/10. The garlic bread ($6.95) was delicious. It was crispy and topped with garlic butter. I really enjoyed how fresh the bread was and how it wasn't too salty or greasy. This was 8/10. The strawberry lemonade ($6.95) was way too sweet and not enjoyable at all. I had to wait for the ice to melt so the drink would be less sweet. This was definitely a pass for me so this was 6/10 Most likely won't recommend or return unfortunately. read more

I moved out of Phoenix 25 years ago and we come back about every 5 years to visit Pappadeaux's. The quality and standard is still amazing and the services excellent as well. I recommend you try one of their craft cocktails. They have lunch specials 7 days of the week, love that! Their French bread and butter is delicious and the service from Taylor was excellent. We were very happy with the sweet heat alligator and the pasta Mardi gras. You can substitute an extra shrimp for the crawfish. The octopus tagliatel and catfish is delicious as well. We will see you again soon! read more
Ashley's service was great and improved a disappointing lunch. I hadn't been there since my birthday party in February. So it was shocking to find out they no longer have shrimp and grits - my favorite dish for years. Tried the lunch trout instead. Trout and shrimp were good but the jasmine rice with crabmeat was not in league with dirty rice or their grits. Pappadeux has been one of our favorite restaurants for years so this change is heartbreaking. read more
Love it here. Only come for the crab cakes. It's our dinner. We order a bottle of wine and sometimes a salad and 2 crab cakes. Showed up tonight. Tuesday. No reservation. Get seated and not given any menus. Told that our server would bring them. ( I find that odd... and not sure if that's something new). So... there we sit... and sit... and sit. 7 minutes go by. Finally our server comes by drops off menus. We knew what we wanted but not sure what wine.. so needed to look at the menu. She mentioned the added items and items going away soon. One of them being the crab cakes. Why they are considered seasonal is beyond me. Told her we wanted 2 crab cakes for sure. Wine shows up and soon after the crab cakes. Really disappointing experience at Pappadeaux. Our stuffed shrimp was extremely salty, so we sent it back, and the replacement came out raw inside. My girlfriend had already bitten into and chewed before realizing. Pretty unacceptable, especially with seafood. read more

We took a drive and decided on lunch (actually an early dinner, wow) here. The blue point oysters were tasty! The crabcakes were awesome!! Generous portions of crab, seasoned and cooked to perfection. I opted for the Swordfish and my gosh it was some of the best prepared swordfish ever. Moist and tasty, with a nice lump of crab on top. Topped it with a Voodoo Ranger IPA on tap. Service was attentive, friendly and helpful with special requests. read more

I love a good happy hour. I like the smaller portions that happy hour offers it allows me to enjoy a few menu items without over indulging. The wait staff is always attentive and provides exceptional service. Happy hour is in the bar area 3pm - 6pm I arrive early to guarantee a seat. Overall a great place to dine. read more

Before I begin my review, just know this: I have a deep love for this restaurant, tied to countless childhood memories. I've been coming here since I was 8 years old -- family reunions, post-road trip dinners, you name it. The service has always been top-notch, and the staff are consistently kind and welcoming. The environment and vibes of this restaurant always give me good energy. Food: We started with the fresh oysters, and holy moly -- they tasted like they came straight from the ocean. In Arizona?! HELLO?!?!?! Wild. But let's talk about the real reason we keep coming back: the fried gator. Sadly, they recently changed the recipe. It's still good, but I seriously miss the old one. The new version puts more focus on the sauce than the gator itself. It's got a spicy kick (which I don't mind), but it takes away from the true flavor of the gator meat. Just doesn't hit the same. I had the Atlantic salmon, which was perfectly cooked and served with broccoli. A squeeze of lemon juice brought everything together beautifully. My friends ordered the fried oysters, the catfish dinner, and the shrimp platter -- all of which were absolutely delicious. I found myself wishing I had ordered the catfish or oysters because they were fried to perfection without drying out. Usually, fried fish loses all its juiciness, but somehow, Pappadeaux keeps it fresh and crispy. Magic. Now let me put you on to this drink: the Watermelon Mango Tango Margarita (blended). GUYS. YOU. HAVE. TO. GET. IT. So, so, SO good -- honestly the best drink I had all day, especially in this heat. We wrapped up the meal with a slice of key lime pie, which they comped for us since they had run out of guava and strawberry syrup for one of our drinks. Super kind gesture, and the pie was delicious. Overall: I love this restaurant deeply, but I'm giving it a 4/5. The change to the fried gator recipe really threw me off. As much as I cherish the memories and everything else on the menu, that gator was the reason I kept making the drive. Still a great spot -- just hoping they bring the old recipe back someday. read more
They're not a lot of seafood choices in the Phoenix area. At least I haven't seen many. This place is huge, but make a reservation if you come on the weekend, they can get pretty busy. The vibe of this place is pretty cool. Obviously, the nautical theme is present and it's really nice. The service is hit and miss, just like any chain restaurant. One time we came here and they were out of Tito's, and there was no one available to shuck oysters. I thought that was pretty peculiar, but that is just a sign of the times. One of our favorite Cajun spots in Arizona for special occasions. For appetizers, we had a dozen fresh oysters and the Hot Honey Glazed Gator Bites--definitely a must-try! The bread was softer than before but still delicious. For the main course, we had the Atlantic Salmon Alexander with shrimp, scallops, crawfish, and creamy white wine sauce--perfectly cooked. The Pappadeaux Platter was loaded with seafood, and we added extra fried shrimp and crawfish. The Shrimp & Crawfish Fondeaux was fantastic, especially with their garlic bread. We also tried the Seafood Tagliatelle Pasta and Pasta Mardi Gras, both generous portions packed with flavor. For dessert, we enjoyed the Key Lime Pie and Crème Brûlée, which had great caramelized sugar but could've been a bit smoother. Overall, fresh seafood, great flavors, and generous portions. read more

Living in a city without Pappadeaux's can be difficult . Having the chance to eat there while traveling for work was a special treat. Had a Caesar salad to start which was excellent as always with the right amount of dressing . Than followed that up with the fried shrimp plate and it did. It disappoint . The flavor of the shrimp was delicious and every bite made you want more . I changed out the fries for a loaded baked potato that was very good size and loaded with flavor . Pappadeaux's continued excellence will keep me going there on my travels . read more

They serve the oysters after 5:00PM and on Saturday and Sundays. By Sunday they might be all out.
When will banana pudding come back?
You will have to contact them directly. It was blamed on COVID and the halt in distribution of goods. Haven't been there for a few months and we have the lifted mandates so I hope it's back.
What is price range?
I would plan on $30 per person for lunch, at least $ 50 for dinner. Of course, depends on appetizer, cocktail, dessert!

They will start offering live music on Friday's beginning sometime in October. They don't offer live music during the summer months due to the heat. This comes directly from Pappadeaux as I called them to inquire today.
Does it have a Sunday brunch buffet like some of the others?
No I don't believe they offer a brunch
Is it expensive?
It was all in perspective. As far as good seafood restaurants I think it's on par as others have commented in it is a little bit more than Red Lobster.
