My family and I have been coming here for years, today we went to celebrate my sister's graduation, this is her favorite restaurant. Their house blend is the best sauce I've ever had, that alone is what keeps us coming back, I believe it is a Viet style Cajun sauce. We usually get the build your own combo, with crawfish, snow crab, and a few appetizers like french fries, garlic noodles, and onion rings. I believe they have changed management recently, or in the past few years. Although the sauce remains delicious, the food quality seems to be falling, and I see that they have a few food safety violations listed on their Yelp. The garlic noodles were swimming in the watery sauce, and the Cajun fries were not tossed, just sprinkled on top. The restaurant has never been that busy when we go, and there is usually is only one server doing all the hosting, food running, and waitressing. Ours seemed to be a little stressed today, and did not refill our drinks as much as we would've preferred, and forgot things like our salt and pepper. Well, this was my first time eating at the LA crab shack on Peoria. I spent $208.00 on their seafood broil, feeds four and I took it to go. I picked the garlic and lemon pepper. well unfortunately they use the garlic that is already crushed and cut and not fresh garlic in their food and they overcooked the crab and if you do get the lobster tail, they give you 1 whole lobster tail cut in half for two people and they give you lots of shrimp, I mean a lot of shrimp compared to anything else in that seafood broil bag had they overcooked all the sea food and they used a lot of that crushed already diced garlic. That did not make the food Taste good at all. They put way too much garlic in it, and the food was impossible to eat because it was overcooked and it was rubbery. I was very disappointed on how much money I spent . if I knew in advance that they had a family emergency and was closing 1 hour early I would've waited and come back the next day and maybe the food would've have tasted a lot better. It was the lobster seafood boil for two couples, and I bought two sets for four couples. Just beware that if they're in a hurry, try not to be in a hurry to eat here. You probably get a better experience than what my family did. I've been to crab shacks before that has seafood boil and they were way better and not so stingy for the price they charge you. when I was there, there was only one family sitting at a table. We've been to so many different places that do this same thing of seafood cooked in a bag with butter and spices. They are all good. So I was happy to come to this one. As I waited for our food to come I already noticed one difference. The service here was top notch. Not just attentive but just a 100% nice person. Our appetizer of a dozen oysters on the half shell were very fresh and well shucked. We all ordered the same combo that came with head on shrimp and snow crab with potatoes and corn. We just varied on the seasonings that went into our bags. My brother got the cali-Cajun, my hubby got the lemon pepper Cajun and I got the garlic butter with lemon pepper. I have to say that mine was better than any other that I have ever had before. The atmosphere is very fun and casual. There are lots of cute nautical and pirate furnishings and there was a Zoltar machine there. For those who don't remember that is the machine that the little boy used to wish to become bigger in the Tom Hanks movie "Big". I will definitely make this a must go when I am in Arizona. read more

This was hands down one of the most uncomfortable dining experiences I've ever had. I came in for lunch with my daughter. We ordered an appetizer and a crab boil. The food started off fine -- until we got into the crab legs. They were completely waterlogged and overcooked. Anyone who eats crab regularly knows the difference. It was disappointing, but we didn't make a scene. We calmly and politely asked if we could either get replacement crab legs or have them removed from the bill. What happened next was shocking. The owner came to our table with a pair of scissors, grabbed the crab legs, cut them open, pulled the meat out herself, and tried to insist my daughter eat it. Instead of listening to a customer concern, the situation became confrontational and uncomfortable. As a parent, that crossed a line for me. I made it clear I was willing to pay for everything we ate -- just not the crab legs. This should have been a simple, routine customer service issue. Instead, it escalated to the point where police were called over a food dispute. Initially, before even fully hearing my side, I was threatened with arrest. After everything was explained and it was clear I was not refusing to pay for what we consumed -- only disputing the crab legs -- I was told I wouldn't be arrested but would have to go to court if I refused to pay. After I left, police called me asking me to return because the owner decided to remove the crab legs from the bill and did not want to press charges. So in the end, the solution was exactly what I had politely asked for from the beginning. All of this over a simple request to correct overcooked crab. The waitress was kind and seemed to genuinely want to help, but the way management handled this situation was unnecessarily aggressive and unprofessional. If you're looking for a relaxing meal with your family, understand that this establishment is willing to escalate a basic food complaint into a police matter instead of resolving it calmly. I will never return, and I strongly encourage others to consider whether this is the type of environment they want to dine in. read more

We really enjoyed this place! Super delicious and worth every penny. Best flavor and freshness we've experienced at a crab boil in AZ. We ordered the deal of the week (crab, shrimp, corn, potato, and egg combo), butter noodles, and extra house sauce (hot). Servers are kind and efficient. Our servers made sure we knew food was on the way and set up our table fast, even though all tables were filled. It was reassuring that it was still packed on a rainy day 2 hours before closing. Spent $200 on a seafood boil that was old. I couldn't even peel the shrimp it was stuck to the shrimp. The crawfish tasted dirty and not washed properly. The lobster tail didn't even want to come out of the shell it was so dry and rubbery. We basically left it all behind. The service was mediocre, server forgot a drink which we had to remind. Everything was great here, I would say if you go to angry crab and read some of the reviews, I wouldn't say this place is better but I wouldn't say it's worse. They both have their unique taste and both are actually really good. To me angry crab sauce is a littler more runny and here the sauce is thicker like a rue. It is tasty but you can't compare it to the trifecta because it's a different taste: it is still very good, the medium heat to me felt like a low heat at angry crab so if you like stuff spicy definitely do the hot here. The service was great and the staff really took care of us. The restroom was clean and drinks were good. The only reason why I am giving them a 4 instead of a 5 is the shrimp was very over cooked. Took my husband for his birthday and we had so much fun digging through our 4 pound bag of Alaskan King crab, clams, snow crab, and Dungeness crab clusters. We have been going to the mesa location and decided to try out this location l. First of all we asked for one pound of shrimp and the portion was not it. We received a bag with 7 shrimps I know that is not a pound. I also had missing items and had to remind them to bring it to us and didn't receive it until we were done eating. There was only one server working so we also never received any refills on our drinks. And found out that extra lemons are charged. The flavor was there but the service was not. We had Jennifer as our server and she was absolutely horrible. We had other guests arrive after us and get served before us. And the excited sweet energetic personality she gave them, was completely different than the cold , rude, and nonchalant energy she gave my family and I. We waited for an hour for Jennifer to bring out our food! Again this is not my first time coming here, the servers have always been so amazing and above and beyond. I have always loved the Mesa location, but it always just too far of a drive. I'm so happy they finally opened up in the west side! The new location is beautiful and such a upgrade from the Mesa location. They have live seafood tanks now which is a first that I've seen. The food was great as always. The sauces were so rich and delicious. Definitely gotta get the house blend as always. Love the platter especially, so much food for everyone to share from. No live crawfish yet but hopefully next time I go there will be some. We also tried their new fajita options! I've never had seafood this way and it was so so good.
