We discovered this place online while searching for shrimp tacos since Lent had just started and we were avoiding meat today. Overall, our experience landed somewhere in the middle, there were definite highlights along with a few areas that could use some improvement. We started with the calamari, which unfortunately seemed a bit overcooked and had a slightly rubbery texture. The chips and salsa, however, were a strong start, the salsa tasted fresh and flavorful. The shrimp tacos were well prepared, juicy, and nicely seasoned. The rice also stood out with really good flavor. On the other hand, the crab in the siete mares soup didn't taste as fresh as expected and had a slightly off note to it. The aguas frescas were refreshing and enjoyable. One small surprise was that refills are not offered (unlike many similar spots), which we only realized when the bill arrived. Service was a highlight of the visit. Our waitress was warm, attentive, and consistently checked in to make sure we had everything we needed. She offered helpful suggestions and created a welcoming experience from the moment we walked in. The classic cultural décor and overall ambiance gave the space a pleasant, comfortable vibe. While the food experience was mixed for us this visit, the excellent service and inviting atmosphere made the experience enjoyable overall, and we hope to see some refinements in the future. read more

The seafood is so fresh here! Usually, I go somewhere and get a cocktail de camaron and I have to add everything to it, but not here. It was absolutely perfect.! The agua chile was nothing but lime NO chile at all. I got four bites in and my teeth started hurting from the acidity. Nothing special about this restaurant. I've been to this place about 3 times, each time the food was very salty. But I gave it one last chance thinking that it was just me tasting the food too salty. There was a few other people with me this time, and out of the 8 people that ordered food, 4 of them got their food to be very salty to the point where they couldn't eat it. I don't mind paying the price for good food but when the food is not that great it's unfortunate. The server was ok, there was an issue with some cash left on the table that the server said was missing so had to give her more money once we had already walked out. Seriously devastated after going here.... High hopes crushed by salty food yet weak flavor food. Seafood soup was so salty it was inedible, literally only ate the octopus and shrimp. Came here on a Sunday for lunch. We were seated right away and the service was pretty decent. I'm not an expert on seafood by any means, but I did grow up in Cali and we crossed the boarder quit a bit for mariscos. The food was just okay. Nothing we ordered really stood out as fantastic. Although a friend of mine ordered the Molcajete, now that was tasty. Also, we did have a couple of banda trios stop by our table to convince us to have them play a song, but that was a big fat negative. In fact no one in the restaurant bought a song. They steal your money... we were a party of six and mind you we were given our menus and knew what we were going to pay and when our bill was given to us it was over $200 and they added there $36 on top of that. We order 4 ceviche tostadas 1 agua chile that had the price of $19.99 and on the ticket was $30, 2 michelada 4 rice waters and 3 shrimp tacos that were burned and came out to the total of $236. The server brought 2 of the drinks late and extra avocado once we were almost done. We asked to speak to the manager and did not come up to us to review our ticket. Our girlfriend Genesis is allergic to shellfish so we asked if they could make a separate ceviche de pescado for her and they did!! The waitress we had made sure to tell them to not let shellfish touch ANYTHING on that ceviche and it was sooooo fresh!!! Rally good Mexican food!! They bring you complementary chips and salsa to start. We started with an appetizer which was the queso fundido with mushrooms. It was good but a little too runny for me. We ordered flour tortillas as it didn't come with any and the chips just didn't do it lol. We had the caldo de siete mares which is a seafood stew. So appropriate for lunch in a cold afternoon. Came in for date night and we wanted to try something new and this place is right around the corner from us. We got in and we're seated right away. Drinks ordered right away. The water they serve is so fresh and crisp definitely filtered water and not tap water so I appreciate that. I opted for something with shrimp, but the waitress told me what I wanted was spicy so I went with her recommendation of a molcajete plate with cheese and a yummy white sauce mixed with carne asada, chicken, and shrimp with some onions and bell peppers. It was AMAZING! The sauce was so good and the different meats were just what I wanted. My man got the "la torre China" I believe which was a small tower of seafood. It had fish on top, onions, ocotopus, shellfish, and 2 types of shrimp with avocado. It was so good we switched dishes midway through. Lol. I also ordered a Clamato preparado which was so refreshing and yummy! This place was just a nice touch to something new. It was kinda pricey, but seafood is always pricey. It's a nice restaurant but not in the best area. For the area that it's in and the amount of food they give the prices are outrageous honestly. You can go to a much nicer Mexican restaurant or even steakhouse in Westgate. They apparently just went up on prices which is ridiculous. They don't have daily deals or happy hours that I know of and that can definitely hurt a small business. The food is good but it also depends on who cooks it. My girlfriend and I used to go here a lot but we stopped because it was always such a hit or miss and due to price it just was not worth it when spending $75 for two people on a meal.
