Thank you Yelp for helping me locate a sushi restaurant that stays open between lunch and dinner with good rating and good reviews. I'm in town for work and was craving some sushi and glad that I took a chance on this place even though it seemed out of my way. The staff greeted me as soon as I walked through the door and I was seated quickly. It just so happened that they were having happy hour specials (it was around 2:00 or so on a Thurs). I got the crispy rice spicy tuna, sunomono and the house special roll all at a discount due to the happy hour and everything tasted great! The restaurant is clean the bathrooms are clean parking is easy. I would recommend this place!

Yelp SPAM scale Service - 3 / 10 Price - 2 / 10 Ambiance - 4 / 10 Meal - 3 / 10 Arrived and was immediately sat at our table. Great decorations and spacious for dining with options for indoor/outdoor as well at the sushi bar. 1st time trying this local eatery and not sure we'll be back. Appetizers -Squid salad was nice, but overpriced -Edamame was over cooked / steamed and the chili was seasoning tasted off -cucumber salad had hardly any seasoning Dinner (2) different sushi rolls (can't say we liked the sushi rolls). No offense but we've had better sushi from Sprouts and AJ's. 2 drinks (beer and wine) - beer was nice and cold. In this economy you want value for your money and for what we ordered I can't say we got that. 80$ plus tip

Lunch Special Poke Bowl! saw the reviews and wanted to try this place since me and my best friend moved down the street. Did not dissappoint! Everyones super sweet that works there and the food was amazing! Recommend.

Tried Kay Sushi today, super convenient to where I live. It has a lovely outdoor patio with water fountain and bamboo, so pretty. Inside the decor is nice, different shades of green walls and one unobtrusive Tv, which is nice . Some places have so many tvs and the sound is so loud, but at Kay Sushi only my and the sound is muted.. They have a nice variety of rolls and a pretty extensive menu. A nice touch, they serve water with a side of lemons in a small wooden box, little details like this are so nice. I ordered the cucumbers and they weee deckuckus, cold and crunchy. My lunch date ordered got miso soup with his order and it was served which kept the soup piping hot, it also had sliced mushrooms along with the seaweed. We ordered a variety's of rolls and they were quite good. The staff is really nice and attentive. The dress I wore was a slippery materiel and my napkin on my lap slipped onto the floor, the server noticed this and quickly brought me a new napkins. So thoughtful and I didn't even ask for one. I will definitely be back and it's literally less than a mile from home!!

CHICKEN KATSU

Got both the chicken and pork katsu from here. The atmosphere and service was amazing. Would definitely go back.

Nabeyaki Udon

Kay sushi has beautify dining room with separate drink bar and sushi bar. Hubby was in the mood for noodles so we ordered Nabeyaki udon. The picture doesn't show all the seafood included in this dish. It had large prawn, large scallop, lots of shrimps and squid. The broth was good but tad bit bland. The lunch combo unagi bowl and tempra was really good. Nice crispy veggies and prawns were tasty. The unagi bowl only had 3 pieces of unagi; wish it had more. Overall fun place to eat even though it was little out of the way for us. Enjoy. Would Recommend.

SUSHI MIX

Excellent food, made fresh and from the heart! I love the amount of care and love they put into every dish. The sushi is amazingly fresh, flavorful and the presentation is the cherry on top! They serve sushi, Thai, Chinese and several other dishes. The service is always kind, professional and attentive. This is definitely one of the cleanest restaurants in north Scottsdale. I highly recommend Kay Sushi to anyone!

The Goose - Bone Marrow

Just, wow!! The drinks, the vibe, the service? This place has it down!…read more The Goose is absolutely what you think of when it comes to a speakeasy! The atmosphere inside is relaxed yet sophisticated with an overwhelming feeling of being in on a secret no one else knows, so cool! We happened to come early enough in the day to where getting a table wasn't an issue but I would say make a reservation when coming as it is limited seating and absolutely worth it. I came with my husband and my bestie for some birthday cocktails and bites. We were actually lucky enough to have our Uber driver point out the door on the way in, I don't want to give away any secrets but keep an eye out for a door marked with the goose silhouette. It was very back-door, hush hush The cocktails were fantastic! The Clover Club was by far my favorite but everything we got was wonderful! I definitely recommend getting some bites while you're there too, we got the charcuterie board and it was plenty for the three of us. Nick took great care of us, making excellent recommendations throughout our visit but the star of the show was Miss Bella! She was so sweet right off the bat, welcoming us in and wishing me a very happy birthday! She very clearly takes a lot of personal pride in her customer care and it shows! Plus, her nails?? Gorgeous! We really had a great time and will definitely be back soon! Thank you The Goose for a wonderful birthday!

What we didn't realize at the time was that we had stumbled upon one of those dishes that would stick with us! So when Liquor Pig closed, we were genuinely sad to see it go, but then delighted to learn that the same chef was spearheading Wayward and, most importantly, that the legendary bone marrow poutine made its way onto the new menu. And thankfully, it's still just as memorable! The bone marrow is incredibly luscious, rich, and decadent, and the whole dish is the perfect indulgent pairing for Wayward's creative cocktails. The portion is also a great size for two people to share, especially since it's definitely a rich dish. We also tried the Jaew Chicken which was tasty and definitely a little different from what I'd normally order. It was a nice addition to the meal, but honestly, the poutine is the reason we'll keep coming back to this place! While walking through the restaurant, I noticed quite a few tables enjoying the bone in short rib taco board and those portions are serious. That platter could easily feed four people, so it's definitely something to keep in mind if you're dining with a group. All in all, I'm happy that Wayward has kept one of my favorite dishes from the Liquor Pig days alive. If you're looking for creative cocktails with something rich and indulgent to snack on, do yourself a favor and order the bone marrow poutine!

My family and I came to check it out, and we all really enjoyed it. The menu is such a cool fusion of Asian and Mexican/Latin flavors -- definitely different, but in the best way. We ordered the pork carnitas board, and it was AWESOME. Calling it "carnitas" almost doesn't do it justice because the pork reminded me more of a super meaty pork belly -- tender, flavorful, and there was a TON of it. There were four of us sharing, and we still had leftovers! The homemade blue corn tortillas were amazing, and I loved all the different sauces. They had that Asian-fusion flavor with a Latin spin that somehow just worked. And give me ALL the pickled veggies! The pickled slaw and vegetables added that perfect tangy crunch to the rich pork and really balanced everything out. The kimchi rice on the side was another fun touch and went perfectly with the whole meal. It's a small, laid-back spot, and there was a one-man band playing acoustic guitar and singing some great classic songs while we were there, which made the atmosphere even better. Nothing stuffy or overdone -- just relaxed, good food, good music, and a really enjoyable night. Definitely glad TikTok led us to this little hidden gem. I'm happy we tried it, and I would absolutely go back!

Based on how this place is described and marketed, we were expecting an intimate, vintage-feeling evening where we could sit down, have a cocktail, listen to jazz, and enjoy the atmosphere. That was not our experience. There were definitely things we liked. The location was great, the overall theme and decor were beautiful, the lighting created a great atmosphere, and we enjoyed the food and drinks. The service was also very good. However, the entertainment was a huge miss and completely took us out of the experience. We walked in and the band was performing "Genie in a Bottle," followed by other current/recent pop songs, Backstreet Boys songs, and "Creep." The singer was repeatedly screaming into the microphone and encouraging everyone to scream and make noise. At one point, while sitting in what is supposed to be a speakeasy, we were literally listening to him sing "creep" which is one of the most depressing songs of all time. It felt much more like being at a loud dive bar or country bar than an intimate 1920s inspired speakeasy. My biggest issue is that the entertainment did not match the experience being advertised. You can decorate a room beautifully and make it look like the 1920s, but when the soundtrack is "Genie in a Bottle," "Creep," and Backstreet Boys songs being loudly belted into a microphone, the illusion disappears pretty quickly. The noise level also made it difficult to simply sit, have a drink, talk, and enjoy the space. We specifically chose this place because we wanted that relaxed jazz/speakeasy experience, and that simply wasn't what we got. The cocktail selection was another disappointment. For a speakeasy-style bar, I expected a stronger selection of specialty bourbon and whiskey cocktails. The prices also felt excessive for the overall experience. On top of the already-high prices, we paid a $20 entertainment cover ($10 per person) specifically for the band. I wouldn't have minded paying a cover for quality live entertainment that fit the advertised atmosphere, but the artist was not particularly impressive and, more importantly, the music didn't fit the theme at all. There is a lot of potential here. The space itself is beautiful, the service was good, and they nailed many of the visual details. Unfortunately, the entertainment is such a major part of a speakeasy experience that it overshadowed everything else for us. If you're specifically looking for jazz, flapper-era music, and an authentic-feeling 1920s speakeasy atmosphere, I would not recommend this place based on our experience.

But, if you're looking for a really cool bar, KWSC is for you. I stopped by on a week day evening around 8:30 p.m. Located in Roosevelt Row, while there isn't parking, I found free parking on the street a few minutes away on foot. Ambiance (4.5/5): My type of spot. Dimly lit with a speakeasy vibe. There are eight or so seats at the bar, and the rest of your seating options consist of comfortable chairs and sofas. You'll see a lot of photos of people's bums on the walls lol. This is indeed part of the appeal. For free, if you would like, they will take a polaroid of your butt and memorialize you eternally on the walls. While I didn't do that, if that's up your alley, go for it. Service (2/5): This is the main area of improvement. After being seated, I was greeted promptly and got my first cocktail promptly. From there, things fell apart. I had to grab the bartender's attention to order my second drink and to close out. It was a week day and they weren't busy. And there were two bartenders. A lack of attentiveness. When I closed out, I noticed that the cocktails were both $2 more expensive than what was listed on the menu. When I inquired, I was told that the menus were outdated... umm what? If you're not going to re-print your menus, give people a heads-up when they arrive. I understand that most people won't notice, but this is deception. Food (N/A): I was on a liquid diet. If you're trying to eat here, all they have is snacks. The menu doesn't specify but I'm thinking it's probably chips or somethign like that. Drinks (4/5): A lengthy, and interesting, cocktail list. Similar to a speakeasy, you're going to see creativity and an interesting blend of flavors here. The most popular drink is Fuck Nazis. We're seeing a theme here. KWSC is an interesting spot. For various dollar amounts, you can get funny things outside of the polaroids of your bum. My first cocktail was great. My second one, a tiki drink, not so much. The menu said that there would be some flame action happening. It didn't. Just another example of the service falling short. If the service were better, Killer Whale Sex Club would easily be a five-star experience.

While the service from Armando was absolutely outstanding, unfortunately, the same cannot be said for management. Throughout our evening, we witnessed manager Brian repeatedly speaking to staff in an aggressive, condescending, and completely unprofessional manner. His behavior was so uncomfortable to watch that it genuinely took away from what should have been an enjoyable dining experience. We were so taken aback by his conduct that we actually asked the hostess for his name. In all our years of dining out, we have never witnessed a manager display such a blatant lack of respect toward employees in front of guests. Fine dining is about more than exceptional food and polished service. It is also about professionalism, leadership, and creating an atmosphere where both guests and employees feel respected. Unfortunately, Brian's behavior undermined all of that. Armando deserves recognition for delivering wonderful service despite the environment we witnessed. As for management, perhaps a reminder is needed that the way you treat your staff speaks volumes about the standards of your establishment. Treat your employees with dignity and respect. They are the very people responsible for creating the guest experience. What a disappointing display of leadership. We will not be returning.
