MY REVIEW (originally posted on Instagram @gigieats) Found this sushi spot on Yelp and the SECOND my butt hit the chair, I devolved into a rabid pocket-gremlin with one functioning brain cell and that cell was screaming "SASHIMI!" The salmon sashimi didn't have enough time to melt in my mouth because I vacuumed it into my face like a Roomba with unresolved issues. The escolar slid down so fast even I was like "GiGi... slow DOWN... have some dignity," and then I didn't. That Naruto roll wrapped me tighter than my self-control ever could. And the salmonskin -- my personality trait, my reason for breathing, my emotional support crunch -- was a liiiiittle too crispy... like "touch it and it'll shatter into confetti"... but still good enough that I hunched over my plate like a territorial woodland creature protecting its newborn. I didn't dine. I made noises not approved by the FDA. But... If you need me, I'll be 6 minutes from home, perched in a corner booth, haunting this sushi place like a tiny unhinged gremlin with chopsticks and zero remorse.

I went to Pure Sushi with a friend on a Saturday night for dinner. We were seated at the bar which I always enjoy at a sushi restaurant. The staff was really nice and welcoming. We ordered miso soup and some sushi rolls. It did take some time to receive our sushi as the restaurant was slightly busy. Overall had a good experience and this is a good sushi spot for the area.

I've come here quite often with my family. Although I wouldn't say they make the prettiest, most perfectly rolled sushi, I will say that they get the orders out quickly and they still taste great. They offer happy hour prices on a few rolls and cocktails as well, just be careful since it can get quite busy around 5:30 or so. Plenty of seating indoor along with outdoor available when it's not deathly hot in the dessert

This is how my to go sushi looked after a 5 min ride home (barely moved at all) I feel like the chefs here could just put in a tiny bit more effort. The servers though are always super nice.

Pure is my sushi happy place. Granted it's busy. Make a reservation. Love the ambiance. Had the best waitress, super friendly, I apologize for forgetting her name. She had long black hair, she served the tables to the left from the entrance. The Pure Asian Pear. A drink drowned in alcohol. Be careful if you are a light drinker. Just saying

What a great spot for sushi! The ambiance was great and the space uniquely designed. I love a poke bowl and went for the tuna poke - perfect and full of flavor! Of course I had to try the miso soup - which was great with thick slices of mushroom in it.

I would expect to see this type of restraunt in a suburban strip mall, rather than a higher scale shopping mall. Took easily 10 min to get our drinks to us. Twice we were offered other people's food, so there is a need to update POS systems or front of house management. The cheese puffs are very good. The orange chicken was more sweet than spicy. No presentation, just put on a plate and take it out. I felt like I was at someone's home, rather than a restaurant. Maybe that is the vibe they are going for. The dish was more like opening up a bag of chicken fingers then dump a sweet orange sauce. If anyone has had a frozen orange chicken meal, made by a company that is famous for their pies. A meal that can be purchased at your local grocery store...well, that is close to what we are talking about. It came out without any serving utensil. WTH? The Mongolian beef was more like pot roast and fatty. It certainly was not what I would consider spicy. Ambiance is VERY casual. There are regulars and they seem to be like family, so that is cool, once you have been accepted in the circle of trust. Maybe I am spoiled, because we tend to get very good Chinese in Las Vegas, due to the "Whales" coming in to gamble. Maybe this considered fabulous for Scottsdale, but certainly not what I was raised to expect. Now, it has been few weeks since my nephew and I tried this place. I wanted to let it breathe before posting "hot". To be fair. We were offered some dumplings to apologize for the wait. We declined, because I was afraid of what they may taste like. I asked for the check and the lady resisted saying that we hardly touched the food and she did not want to charge. This also was nice, but my ENTIRE working life has been in the hospitality/customer service/food service industry. They have bills to pay. They prepared the meal. They provided the service. They deserved to be paid. She apologized once again and said that they were using a new cook. I thought that I might be unusually over-critical however, my nephew, who resembles a trash compactor went away saying that there would be way he would ever get food from there. I wish this place well. Maybe there needs to be a better front of house/back of house dynamic. I can think of many things that would help.

Some things have changed, like prices and some stayed the same, like the clunky order tablet. Sushi: Rolls used to be mostly under $10, but still a pretty good option @ $12 for most. The quality is on par with Whole Foods, which actually charges a bit more. Spicy Tuna @ $10.99 though doesnt make sense. Bulgogi: Our son's go to order, chicken was chewy and he just gave up after a few bites. Wings: They completely bungled this item. First of all the wings are miniscule for $12. Then you dont actually get any wings, we had all drums. Ordered Buffalo Spicy, came with sauce on the side? So I am supposed to dunk these? That's nuts! All pieces had more breading than actual chicken and one drum was so small, probably off a pigeon(joke). I brought three home and you can see the size relative to a Tic Tac box(one of the larger ones) Overall: They expanded the overall dining space by adding an outdoor area since we came here last. This place used to be packed and wait times were off the charts for the small crew of 3. Unfortunately on this Sat night, there were a few take out orders and we were the only ones dining in. But for some reason, I just haven't had a great food experience at this location and sadly will likely not go back. We have tried Z's on a few occasions. The last time was about a year ago (before most recent trip). We went with a group and two people in the group got sick afterwards. One was my husband. This followed another occasion of someone getting sick (in fact, someone else in the group said they didn't want to go there for this reason). So, after that incident, we said we weren't going back. Fast forward a year and I thought why not give it another try? The reviews seemed good recently and maybe this was a fluke. So last night, we returned for another try. They were very busy for a Monday night so they obviously don't need more customers. And the staff, though clearly overworked, is friendly and nice as usual. I ordered a larb salad (something I always get at every Thai restaurant). Unfortunately, the chicken in the salad was inedible. I kept trying to eat it because the dressing was on point, but the chicken tasted like something that someone heated up too long in the microwave. And I couldn't pick it out. So disappointing. You can see it looks bad in the images. I didn't say anything because I hate complaining at restaurants. I took it home and tried it again in case I was being sensitive but it was still bad and I threw it out. We also ordered green curry with tofu and pad Thai with pork. Both were enjoyable!! And the green curry had a nice heat kick though I added spice which they eventually brought when I asked. One note: I was not exactly sure how to eat the green curry because it was served in a small bowl place on a plate with the rice in the side. Adding the curry to the plate caused the sauce to run all around but there was not enough room in the bowl to add the rice. No big deal but just weird and messy plating experience. We didn't end up getting any alcoholic drinks. But do be aware that there must not be free refills because I was charged for two lemonades. All in all, I wish this restaurant well. Obviously people love it and keep returning. The owners/staff are very friendly and nice. I just love Thai too much to keep returning to mediocre experiences when there are other options in the area.

Someone clearly spent time with the visual experience. This is what I call a restaurant designed for the 'Gram. However, a couple things that didn't quite full send. First, the service is incredibly slow. Staff was friendly, but "nice" doesn't equate to the textbook definition of hospitality. Things were slow, and unlike top end Korean restaurants I'm used to in NY and LA, where any floating staff can assist with cooking, things just took unnecessarily long. This is a pain point they really need to address, especially as a Korean restaurant. As a half-Korean, service and efficiency is part of our cultural pride, so this disappointed. The marinated beef ribs ("kalbi") were perfect. I grew up with this my whole life, and Sizzle's quality is right up there with kalbi royalty. If you've never had Korean bbq, and have only one chance to eat it THIS is the dish you want. The beef brisket ("chadol") was good too, but what makes this dish popular is the sauce. There are places in Korea and LA that people line up for specifically because of the chadol sauce. They didn't have a dedicated sauce, so if you've ordered and liked it, you're only getting half the picture. Dedicated chadol sauce is THE key, instead of the rudimentary salt or sesame oil. HUGELY disappointed! It's like trying pizza for the first time without tomato sauce, no matter HOW good the crust and cheese is. Other than that, like I said, they represented. However, I'd elevate on my 2 critical points, because someone could easily open up a competing restaurant, and wreck this place on service and sauce. Sizzle, you're very good, but you could be great!

@sizzle desert ridge mall…read more First, of all the Korean BBQ restaurants in Phoenix, their meat quality is the best. I applaud them for having good quality food, the prices reflect quality. On my last experience, Saturday March 28th, it was disappointing due to the way we were treated. We requested fish cake upon ordering and was told they just ran out, I commented/asked if that was truly the case as it is always out. At the very least, it's been the last 10 times they've been out of this side. We do go frequently, so it was surprising to hear him make this excuse. The remaining food service was average, it was busy so the server did the best he could under the circumstances. He attitude seemed fine and we moved on with our meal. Upon receiving our check, he decided to autograt our bill for a party of 5. I brought this up to our server and he stated it is managements decision to autograt parties of 5 or more (I call BS) and asked if it was because I seemed displeased at the ordering of our food due to the fish cake questions? I asked if I was profiled as someone who doesn't tip for any other reason? He insisted that all parties of 5 or more at the restaurant are autograt, at all Sizzles. At this point, if servers are now able to autograt any parties they feel a tip is not earned, it's no longer a tip and a restaurant charge. if I was profiled, it would seriously be disappointing. I'm happy to share all receipts showing a minimum of 20% at every restaurant, many cases even more, including at Sizzle. Deeply disappointing at this restaurant and may consider not going back. There are many options but to be treated this way is again, disappointing at best. I rated 2 stars due to the interaction and excuses for the autograt and will be writing a letter to the management but affirm the food/meat quality is very good, this was a very bad reflection of service and decision for the service staff to secure their tip this way. If they're out of fish cake, I do not blame the server and it is not their compensation that should be impacted but the action taken by the staff is questionable.
