    Ice cold Sapporo Beer

My wife and I had lunch @ Sushi Ko. We both ordered the Sashimi & Tempura combination lunch, added in a Dragon Roll, and a Sapporo beer. The atmosphere was comfortable and relaxing. The dining area was clean and nicely organized with a nice bar and sushi bar. Brittany was our server, she was welcoming, friendly, and attentive. Regarding our orders, the sashimi was fresh and the Tempura was very good, and the Dragon Roll was delicious. Plenty of free parking and access is excellent. NOTE: it can be a little hard to spot Sushi Ko from the parking lot as it is tucked back in a courtyard next door to Chompie's and Club Pilates.

When someone mentions Sushi Ko, I get nostalgic. This used to be one of the main sushi places my friends and I would go to, back when we were still in middle school and high school and it's still here over fifteen years later. Someone recently suggested going there for lunch and I said, why not? After looking over the lunch menu, we ordered pan fried gyoza to share, an order of Sushi set B, nabeyaki udon, and tempura udon. The gyoza, a classic one can't go wrong with, was cooked to perfection; crispy on one side. The nigiri part of sushi set B was okay. The fish was of average quality. Unfortunately, neither of us were fans of their California roll. Now for their udon, the noodles themselves had a nice texture, bounce, and chew to them. However, the broth of both of our soups were overly salty for our liking. Overall, the nostalgia was nice but there wasn't anything outstanding about our meal that would make me go out of my way to return any time soon. Not much has changed about this place ambiance wise. The interior is still cozy, intimate and inviting. The service was okay, a bit brash at times.

This place is super cute environment! It is sort of hard to find in the shopping plaza - it's is tucked away in the back! The waitress was super helpful and sweet and I could tell she enjoyed making sure people had a good experience. The food was incredible! I was there for a meeting so the food was ordered for me. I'm not sure what all I ate off the menu but you can see the pictures! We were seated in the back of the restaurant, where there was a private, quiet area for us to have a great meeting!

This place has been around for over 25 years and it's still kickin! Very good pricing and the food quality is still up there. The staff is amazingly nice and the menu is huge. Obviously they have all the sushi. But they also have Ramen, udon, katsu, and so much more.

We've enjoyed Sushi Ko even back when previous owners ran it. It is even better now- the best, freshest and most delicious in town. The chefs are masters and make the experience even more enjoyable when seated at the bar. Their skill is as great as their friendliness. Everyone working there is fully at your service too, with smiles. We like to experiment with both new items we pick but especially 'omakase' style (ask the chef!). Today Chef Mo was at the bar. You'll enjoy all of their menu, especially if you're an adventurous eater.

Still going strong after many years! We've been coming for almost 20 years! Great neighborhood location!

    Crunchy roll and shrimp tempura.

Amazing food! The miso soup is so flavorful. We leave extremely satisfied every time! Also great service!

Sushi Ko has been here longer than I've been to Arizona and their food has been consistent for the past 20 years. While it may not be the best Japanese restaurant in the area, they offer comfort food. I come here to eat once every few years and I noticed their price went up in the past 20 years. (Well not that significantly much but cost of living went up too). Menu has changed a little over the year but some of them are still here. On this particular time, I came here for dinner and had tempura and sashimi dinner. The meal comes with miso soup and cucumber sunomono salad. They put generous amount of tofu, I like miso soup as they helps me feel relaxed. Tempura was cooked perfectly. It always did whenever I had tempura here. Perhaps they still have the same chef in the back? Sashimi was good too. They have nabe (hot pot) on the menu, something they always had from the beginning. When it gets colder outside, it will be a perfect season to enjoy hot pot and I should come back here to try.

Party tray filled with sushi of you choice. super affordable and CONVINIENT! give your party the life it's been waiting for!

They have a table or two outside but they're not setup for outdoor seating, fyi. The restaurant is nicely decorated and dark, which took some getting used to. We were greeted warmly and chose a booth towards the right. I had noticed their lunch specials offered M-F 11-2pm so we both ordered from that menu. I got the L/Cali+Shrimp Tempura Combo: California Roll (Half Size), Shrimp Tempura Roll (Half Size), Gyoga(3PCS), Miso Soup. My companion got the L/Rainbow+Dynamite Combo: Rainbow Roll (Half Size), Dynamite Roll (Half Size), 2PCS Nigiri (Chef Choice), Miso Soup. Our soups were brought out pretty quickly and our food not long after. For the price point ($12) and quantity, my lunch special was definitely worth it. It came with 10 California rolls, 5 shrimp tempura rolls, and 3 gyozas. I was pleased to see their gyozas have chicken in them, usually they have pork so I can't eat them. I love their purple rice - so unique. I don't think I'd tried it before and it was good. All of the items I tried were fresh and flavorful. Service was great and I was surprised it wasn't busier during their lunch hour. Maybe later on or dinner gets more of a crowd. I'm glad we tried out this spot and I'd love to come back!

I also ordered salmon skin and here is where the star deduction came into play. The salmon skin was served to me the way I asked - no rice, no sauce, no vegetables - BUT, it was burnt. So if I do go back, I would probably request them NOT to cook it so long. I ordered my husband a spicy tuna roll and a spicy salmon roll to go. He said the spicy tuna was good but the spicy salmon wasn't - it was as if the salmon quality that was used was poor.

We came in for a birthday party & got one of the Teppanyaki tables. Our waiter was awesome & the Chef for the table was well suited for the job! He was so fun and cracked a lot of jokes that everyone enjoyed. He kept everyone engaged throughout the entire experience. He made everyone at the table catch rice in their mouths- even if it took 5-6 tries per person The food was delicious - the portions were on point. The prices were fair. It's on expensive side, but part of the cost is definitely for the experience, which is well worth it. All in all, everyone had an amazing time. This is the perfect place to come with a group to share some laughs and create a memory that nobody will forget. The price was confusing. $30 service charge?? And that's not inclusive of tip? Our total bill was $178 so that would be a 16% service charge which is insane. Usually service charges are a few percent to help cover small costs like cc processing, to-go packaging, things like that. So then on top of that I had to tip of course as I don't want to not give the chef nothing. Just seems a bit extreme. Everything is already on the expensive side which is fine as it's a nice restaurant but the additional service charge was too much. Also the percentage options were incorrect. The amount it told me to tip to make it 18% was actually 26%. Probably an issue with their POS and not them but seems like a money grab and something they should prioritize fixing.
