Been meaning to try Ari out for a while and very happy to have remembered it this last weekend…read more First impressions.. wonderfully decorated inside, clean and we were greated by staff member as we walked in. I'm very sensitive to ceiling fans they are everywhere and probably great in the summer but the night was unusually cold. We told the staff member that I couldn't sit directly under the fan, she didn't hesitate to go turn it off. The menu is extensive, I love when Sushi restaurants have full descriptions of all ingredients so you aren't left to a surprise. Ari has a large selection of the usual sushi choices and an extremely impressive collection of unique creations. There was an ingredient we didnt want and they didnt hesitate to accommodate. Not only are the prices very reasonable for their high end rolls, but the size of the rolls were large too. Each roll was an artwork of perfection and amendments we made due to allergies were delivered correctly. Fresh Wasabi was definitely worth the price. Large alcohol selection and very decent prices. One big positive thing to note was that when the bill was delivered, their suggested % calculations were accurate (where some are not) and didnt include sales tax into the %.. which is the right thing to do. The restaurant was busy but that didnt really effect service or food timings. We will be back

The prices were very reasonable. When we first got in, we noticed that the tables that they had available were under a very powerful fan. We commented about the fan being too strong at the table, they wanted to seat us., and they quickly turned the fan off which was really nice. Our sushi rolls were excellent and the staff was pretty good. Before we ever received our rolls a server removed our empty appetizer dish and chop stick wrappers. The menu descriptions were very detailed, so we knew what the ingredients were. When we received to bill I was pleased to see the various tip percentages at the bottom were calculated based on pre tax total. You have watch that these days!

I have been so desperate to love this restaurant because I love Thai and this is a local location…read more Plus the people seem so very nice. But for some reason, I just haven't had a great food experience at this location and sadly will likely not go back. We have tried Z's on a few occasions. The last time was about a year ago (before most recent trip). We went with a group and two people in the group got sick afterwards. One was my husband. This followed another occasion of someone getting sick (in fact, someone else in the group said they didn't want to go there for this reason). So, after that incident, we said we weren't going back. Fast forward a year and I thought why not give it another try? The reviews seemed good recently and maybe this was a fluke. So last night, we returned for another try. They were very busy for a Monday night so they obviously don't need more customers. And the staff, though clearly overworked, is friendly and nice as usual. I ordered a larb salad (something I always get at every Thai restaurant). Unfortunately, the chicken in the salad was inedible. I kept trying to eat it because the dressing was on point, but the chicken tasted like something that someone heated up too long in the microwave. And I couldn't pick it out. So disappointing. You can see it looks bad in the images. I didn't say anything because I hate complaining at restaurants. I took it home and tried it again in case I was being sensitive but it was still bad and I threw it out. We also ordered green curry with tofu and pad Thai with pork. Both were enjoyable!! And the green curry had a nice heat kick though I added spice which they eventually brought when I asked. One note: I was not exactly sure how to eat the green curry because it was served in a small bowl place on a plate with the rice in the side. Adding the curry to the plate caused the sauce to run all around but there was not enough room in the bowl to add the rice. No big deal but just weird and messy plating experience. We didn't end up getting any alcoholic drinks. But do be aware that there must not be free refills because I was charged for two lemonades. All in all, I wish this restaurant well. Obviously people love it and keep returning. The owners/staff are very friendly and nice. I just love Thai too much to keep returning to mediocre experiences when there are other options in the area.

It…read morecould have easily passed as a Michelin restaurant in a New York Four Seasons hotel, or at the Aria in Vegas. It was simply.... cool AF. The food presentation and layout also delivers. Someone clearly spent time with the visual experience. This is what I call a restaurant designed for the 'Gram. However, a couple things that didn't quite full send. First, the service is incredibly slow. Staff was friendly, but "nice" doesn't equate to the textbook definition of hospitality. Things were slow, and unlike top end Korean restaurants I'm used to in NY and LA, where any floating staff can assist with cooking, things just took unnecessarily long. This is a pain point they really need to address, especially as a Korean restaurant. As a half-Korean, service and efficiency is part of our cultural pride, so this disappointed. The marinated beef ribs ("kalbi") were perfect. I grew up with this my whole life, and Sizzle's quality is right up there with kalbi royalty. If you've never had Korean bbq, and have only one chance to eat it THIS is the dish you want. The beef brisket ("chadol") was good too, but what makes this dish popular is the sauce. There are places in Korea and LA that people line up for specifically because of the chadol sauce. They didn't have a dedicated sauce, so if you've ordered and liked it, you're only getting half the picture. Dedicated chadol sauce is THE key, instead of the rudimentary salt or sesame oil. HUGELY disappointed! It's like trying pizza for the first time without tomato sauce, no matter HOW good the crust and cheese is. Other than that, like I said, they represented. However, I'd elevate on my 2 critical points, because someone could easily open up a competing restaurant, and wreck this place on service and sauce. Sizzle, you're very good, but you could be great!

@sizzle desert ridge mall…read more First, of all the Korean BBQ restaurants in Phoenix, their meat quality is the best. I applaud them for having good quality food, the prices reflect quality. On my last experience, Saturday March 28th, it was disappointing due to the way we were treated. We requested fish cake upon ordering and was told they just ran out, I commented/asked if that was truly the case as it is always out. At the very least, it's been the last 10 times they've been out of this side. We do go frequently, so it was surprising to hear him make this excuse. The remaining food service was average, it was busy so the server did the best he could under the circumstances. He attitude seemed fine and we moved on with our meal. Upon receiving our check, he decided to autograt our bill for a party of 5. I brought this up to our server and he stated it is managements decision to autograt parties of 5 or more (I call BS) and asked if it was because I seemed displeased at the ordering of our food due to the fish cake questions? I asked if I was profiled as someone who doesn't tip for any other reason? He insisted that all parties of 5 or more at the restaurant are autograt, at all Sizzles. At this point, if servers are now able to autograt any parties they feel a tip is not earned, it's no longer a tip and a restaurant charge. if I was profiled, it would seriously be disappointing. I'm happy to share all receipts showing a minimum of 20% at every restaurant, many cases even more, including at Sizzle. Deeply disappointing at this restaurant and may consider not going back. There are many options but to be treated this way is again, disappointing at best. I rated 2 stars due to the interaction and excuses for the autograt and will be writing a letter to the management but affirm the food/meat quality is very good, this was a very bad reflection of service and decision for the service staff to secure their tip this way. If they're out of fish cake, I do not blame the server and it is not their compensation that should be impacted but the action taken by the staff is questionable.

I let the guy at rhe counter know that I was looking for a dish with vegetables and he recommended one of their signature dishes that came with not only that, but chicken topped with chopped peanuts. Despite the rain I decided to check out their spacious patio that managed to have a few dry spots. I waited for my food, which did not take long to come out and it was pipping hot. Every bite of my dish had hints of sweetness and savory sauce. I like that it came with fluffy Jazmine rice which complemented the sauce and other ingredients well. It did have vegetables, but I just wish it had a few more, especially broccoli. When I am in the North Scottsdale area this will be my spot.

For a starter, we got the Korean cauliflower, which was pretty tasty. It was crispy and had the just the right kick, which balanced the sweet sesame -soy glaze. For my main, I ordered the pad thai. It wasn't the best I've had, but it was passable. My husband ordered the dan dan noodles and while not entirely traditional, I definitely enjoyed it way more than the pad thai and would get it again. We got our son the kids lo mein with chicken which comes with 2 sides - broccoli and brown rice. The kids meal was pretty substantial!!! Overall the food was pretty good so we may come back another time

Pure Sushi has solid and varied options for sushi, which is nice and dare I say uncommon in this area. The sushi is a solid 3.5 to 4. Not the best I ever had but not terrible. I always think we are going to grab cocktails while we are there but the cocktails are inconsistent and not the greatest. Somewhat disappointing and never good enough to order a second. Most notable on our last visit and something that needs to be addressed was zillions of fruit flies throughout the place. We were seated in the back by the bar. My son noticed something strange on the wall. I turned around and almost gagged because there were literally hundreds of fruit flies on the wall. It was disgusting and I can't believe they sat us there. We initially moved to another nearby table by the Bar but it was also fruit fly central. The waitress then moved us to the main dining room (it was obvious they knew it was an issue and she was embarrassed) but by that point I could not get over it and all I could think of was extreme concern for what was in the drinks at the bar. We finished our dinner and left quickly after that. Nothing was offered to us for the experience (and we are not the type of people to demand or ask). To be honest I cannot go back after this incident. Especially since they don't participate in posting their health violation scores on yelp (I just noticed this). How they can let customers sit by a horde of flies and not wipe down the walls or fix this is beyond me. Forcing the staff to deal with customers in this situation is also horrifying.

MY REVIEW (originally posted on Instagram @gigieats)…read more Found this sushi spot on Yelp and the SECOND my butt hit the chair, I devolved into a rabid pocket-gremlin with one functioning brain cell and that cell was screaming "SASHIMI!" The salmon sashimi didn't have enough time to melt in my mouth because I vacuumed it into my face like a Roomba with unresolved issues. The escolar slid down so fast even I was like "GiGi... slow DOWN... have some dignity," and then I didn't. That Naruto roll wrapped me tighter than my self-control ever could. And the salmonskin -- my personality trait, my reason for breathing, my emotional support crunch -- was a liiiiittle too crispy... like "touch it and it'll shatter into confetti"... but still good enough that I hunched over my plate like a territorial woodland creature protecting its newborn. I didn't dine. I made noises not approved by the FDA. But... If you need me, I'll be 6 minutes from home, perched in a corner booth, haunting this sushi place like a tiny unhinged gremlin with chopsticks and zero remorse.

After a long week, it was nice to unwind & sit outside at this beautiful restaurant…read more Visiting family in Scottsdale, our hotel suggested this restaurant for a nice Sunday dinner. We were sat immediately, and the restaurant was absolutely lovely. You could sit inside, outside or at the bar. We sat outside as it was a warm spring evening & we wanted to take advantage of the charming ambiance outside. Our server was very kind & patient, answering our many questions about the menu. We finally decided on the following: HOUSE MADE FOCCACIA BREAD - $5 Oddly, probably the best part of the meal. Soft, fluffy, delightfully flavorful! CLASSICO BEEF CARPACCIO - $24 This was okay. We prefer our beef slices a little thinner. It was a little on the extra-salty-side. We realize that capers do make things very salty, but for whatever reason, it was a wee bit too salty for our personal taste. (We also opted to have the mayonnaise based sauce that is usually drizzled on the bed of greens on the side, as neither my husband or I care for mayonnaise.) CHICKEN PARMESEAN - $29 Well tenderized breaded chicken, deep fried & drenched in a Swiss fondue & shaved grana padano, then topped with citrus-arugula, this dish was really yummy. I personally didn't care for the combination of the chicken parm with citrusy greens on top, so I just moved them to a side plate. Once removed, the dish improved in my opinion. SIDE OF TAGLIATELLE PASTA with MARINARA SAUCE - $10 We were told this pasta was made in house (upon asking). Apparently the penne & angel hair pasta are not made fresh in house. (Sides of these pastas are only $6.) So, wanting to try the restaurants fine offerings, we opted for this. The pasta was light & nice. You can choose the sauce of your choice. TAGLIATELLE ALLA BOLOGNESE - $28 A 24-hr braised combination of beef, pork & veal tossed in a San Marzano tomato Ragu. Portion was good & my husband said the dish was fine. They had an extensive wine list & plenty of beers to choose from as well. We had a few beers. No complaints there. All in all, I'd say the restaurant itself was beautiful & the ambiance was fantastic. The food was good, but not 100% how we like things, but I can't really fault the restaurant for that. Perhaps the chefs are mimicking Italian food from a region we are not familiar with. Therefore, 4 stars from us.

Also the bar is a very large U shape...and perfect for drinks AND dining. So we decided to eat at the bar. We started with the crispy calamari (1/5). The kitchen fried the calamari way too long. Consequently it was super chewy and inedible. The bartender/server removed the calamari from our bill. I question the QC in the kitchen at the pass. I could tell visually that it was forgotten in the fryer. So 2 people in the kitchen are at fault, the fry cook and the chef at the pass who allowed it to go out of the kitchen inedible. Not a good start. My entree was the rigatoni alla vodka (5/5). This dish was super tasty. The pasta was al dente, the bowl was packed with sausage, and the creamy tomato sauce was super flavorful. My friend had the Berkshire pork chop (3/5). He ordered it medium, but it was served well done. He liked the flavor, but once again, the pork chop was hammered by the chef and no QC at the pass. The well done chop was hard to cut and even chewier to eat. Really too bad...it was a nice thick Berkshire pork chop. Hopefully this restaurant will fix their kitchen problems. Until then, there are other dining choices in this area of Scottsdale to have a well prepared dinner. I would drive past Local Bistro.
