Cheaper AND better than the big name sushi places. Sushi is where this place really shines. Do yourself a favor too, and get a side of the rangoons. I've been coming here for over a decade. They used to be the cheapest sushi around by a large margin. They're not as cheap as they used to be, but their prices are still noticeably better than you'll find at any of the bigger name sushi places around for the "standard" sushi (specialty or fried rolls are probably still on the cheaper side of comparable price, but again, better tasting.) I haven't strayed from the sushi too many times, I mean they do offer a full normal menu though. The non-sushi items are good. The regular food is hit or miss, either they're *really* good or they're a mark above average, the prices aren't bad so whatever non-sushi item you get I think is worth the price. But it's not what I come here for. Service has always been great. I've never asked, but I think the lady that owns the place is often the one waiting tables, and she is very nice. Place is quite small, the outdoor seating is nice if the weather allows. Not a ton of seating and the place is always pretty full--not surprisingly. Omg, had the nicest server in my life. She was such a cute older Asian lady, and was so generous, she gave us free food to go since the restaurant was closing . We were the last people in the restaurant but she kind enough to not rush us, and even helped pack our leftovers. Besides the service, food was good, I liked the creativity of the rolls, especially the samurai sushi roll. It's one where they don't put too much rice, and wrapped in white seaweed. The name Iron Chef has a connotation that says food made with care, high quality ingredients , and service that makes you feel like you're valued, respected, and your experience matters. Unfortunately , Iron Chef doesn't seem to mean any of these things here. We were a party of 7. When we sat and they saw two of our party were children they stated that they didn't need a table, that they can squeeze. We said no and kept the table they wanted to take away. Some of us did the all you can eat, and others ordered from the regular menu. I ordered a Sake, which never came. Food started coming out and it was lightly tossed/dropped onto our table as our server passed by never actually breaking her stride, which made getting her attention impossible. I had to get up and find our server because about 4 of the things I ordered on my all you can eat ticket never came out, and then a flurry of plates started being dropped onto our table as she rushed by, once again never breaking her stride making it impossible to ask a question. The fish was low quality, it seemed like we were getting previously frozen and thawed fish. The fish was tough and had little taste. Other things seemed like it was the kind of thing you would get in a grocery store or COSTCO that is then microwaved to heat. I've never been here, I had to call ahead to make sure there's no dress code and there's not lol. I was hungry but not too too hungry. I was thrown off by how cheap everything is here! I ordered chicken katsu (no curry :( ). I wasn't expecting much for $14, until they came out with 2 large cutlets!! The wonton soup had 4 wontons in it and it was very tasty! The soups were our favorite! I really want to try the house wonton now! We got spring rolls, hoping for the healthier option we see lately, but got fried ones. The sashimi we ordered were so THICK!! We definitely ordered way too much food! The check was about $52 after taxes and we got a lot of food! This place is definitely worth it. And they have all you can eat sushi and sashimi for $34.95/person. I think I may have filled up on water when I drank 6 glasses. Oh, everything pretty much comes out all together, so there's no real break between soups and appetizer and main course. I have never had a bad experience here. I order to go usually and it's always delicious. Never had food poisoning from raw fish which I normally order. I love the Philly hand roll. They use slivers of salmon and not cubes thankfully and it's delicious. I even got a free drink which was very nice. And they always read my notes and super accommodating. Just finished an excellent meal at IRON CHEF!! I had the Mongolian Beef (slightly spicy) with white rice and my wife had the Sesame Chicken with chicken fried rice. Extra large portions. We have come here many times but it seems that things may have changed. The AYCE price is up to $31.99. The vegetable yaki udon is a lot smaller than it used to be although it still has great flavor to it. Although they list uni on the menu, they did not have any. Also after 5 salmon skin hand rolls, they ran out. Not really AYCE when you run out quickly and things are missing. We will see if this is a trend or a one off.
