Great news, they have replaced the lettuce with cucumber! Maybe chef got some negative feedback.

We asked about the fish of the day and special fish which happened to be the same, mackerel, the day we went. Interestingly, the servers had no idea about the fish aspects of the menu and everything was deferred to the sushi chefs. Ordered a few temaki (hand rolls) - yellowtail and spicy tuna- and they were tasty! All the nigiri we ordered were fresh without fishiness, and had generous portions for the price. Nice to have fresh wasabi which had a nice kick and sweetness. Thoroughly enjoyed these nigiri: seared black cod, ocean trout, hamachi/yellowtail, unagi. Yuzu & rainbow rolls had super appetizing sauces. Ordered the uni from Japan which was supposed to be sweeter than creamier but this one was very distasteful for me, had a strong scent like saliva, and I was unable to tolerate it.

I suggest going somewhere else that is actually worth the time and money. We arrived there on time but they weren't ready for us yet. It took over 30 minutes for us to get a chef to our table and cook. We sat at the table hungry. The quality of food was not worth the prices. We ordered the steak ($50, definitely not worth it) and they did not cook it right. It was overdone. We also ordered salmon. I couldn't believe my eyes... the salmon ($38, not worth it) they had brought to our table was still half frozen! I had mentioned this at the table. I was ignored. I had to ask many times for different things from the chef due to the food not being good. I should have not ate it and just said something at the time but the waiter was in a bad mood and the chef wasn't the friendliest. The workers seemed tired and wanting to be there to do the job. I'd rather stay silent because I know how it can be working at a restaurant that has been busy. Our service... the waiter wasn't patient and had an attitude from the very beginning. I looked over at my friends and we kind of went silent. The performance at the hibachi lacked. I know the chef was probably worn out but our reservation was at 5 pm. Not late at all. We were super let down because the restaurant itself was beautiful but so many bad things happened. The only thing I liked from the restaurant was the happy hour they had a few nice drinks. That's it. The place is not accessible. there are places you have to step up, watch wear you step, it has a lot of declines and inclines. Not a lot of accessible parking. The entrance is so far away from most of the parking. Not enough room at tables for wheelchairs or scooters. It was super loud, very smoky and irritated not only my eyes my almost everyone at our table and other tables.

Upon arrival, the place doesn't look like anything special. It's inside a strip mall, and looks mediocre. However, do not judge too soon. Once you get inside, everything is well laid out & it's very nice. It was busy when we went in on a Friday night, BUT we got seated quicker than estimated- which is always a win! I was not happy with where we were seated, as it was facing the wall in the small bar area. We are people watchers by nature, so it's always fun to be in a spot where we can look around the room effortlessly. However, it wasn't the end of the world and I certainly didn't want to wait any longer, the food looked wonderful & I was starving! I do not remember exactly which rolls we got, but... all of them were EXCELLENT!! Everything was undoubtedly fresh, and made with quality ingredients. I thought the black rice was really neat! I've never seen that before. The waitstaff were very friendly and accommodating. It took no time at all to get our orders out, which was impressive considering that the place was packed near capacity! As we left, all of the sushi pros behind the glass thanked us for coming in and wished us a great rest of our evening. I thought that was very kind. It's not very often that you find a whole line of people stopping what they are doing to wish you well on your way out of their establishment. All in all, 10/10 experience! I would recommend this place to anyone who loves Sushi!

I have a gluten sensitivity, and yes - I can't have wheat, or regular soy sauce. No problem, I know that, am am careful when eating out. What is less well known is that the fake crab mix tends to use wheat as a binding agent to keep all of the little fake crab meats mushed together, and that makes for a really gross (and frankly extremely unpleasant) aftermath once I've ingested said allergen. All this is to say, most sushi restaurants specify "krab mix" or "krab" or something like that to indicate that it's the cheaper version. Great! This restaurant uses the word "crabstick" - I also understand what that means. Fake crab without a GF notification - got it! I will pass on that. How is that their problem outside of this overthought review, you might also wonder? Well, it isn't their problem, it's mine, because I just had to throw my whole perceived dinner in the trash. We popped into the restaurant and didn't have a reservation. There were a few tables that were full, but it was definitely more empty at that time than packed. The hostess was not necessarily the nicest person and more focused on her phone. She greeted us, but went back to texting. We stood there for a minute and the restaurant phone rang, which she answered. After standing there for 5-7 minutes, she came back and seated us. As we approached the table, we noticed that it still had plates and bowls leftover from the previous customer. The busser quickly removed them and wiped the table down for us to take a seat. The server came over relatively quickly and was super nice and knowledgeable about the menu. Since it was two of us, we wanted to try a range of things but our main focus was ramen. We decided to order some edamame to start, which was okay. It wasn't super fresh, but overall it was decent. For our main course, we ordered the kaizen and the hafu sushi. We ordered the Obon ramen to split. Not long after ordering our food came out. The server was really attentive and placed our ramen in two separate bowls for us. As far as flavor goes, the Obon was extremely spicy. I'm a spicy girlie and I couldn't even eat it. I ate the noodles, but the broth was too much for me. I passed it on to my husband and to my surprise, he actually ate it (he doesn't like spice). I think his sore throat trumped the spice. The kaizen roll was really good. We actually loved that. The hafu, not so much. The cilantro flavor was a little too heavy on the roll itself. We would definitely give this place another try if ever in the area, but maybe order something different.
