I haven't been here in a minute, but as a part of their rewards program, I received $10 off for my birthday so I decided to get lunch one day. I thought about ordering online but I didn't want any of their drink options and wasn't sure if they prepare them for you, so I ordered when I arrived at the counter. There were a few people dining in at the tables and a few that came by to pick up their orders. I got their daily special: the chicken fried rice combo ($11) which comes with an egg roll and drink. It took a few minutes to ring it up correctly but the cashier was so nice and helpful about it all. It's a good deal because the bowl itself is $11 so you get extra stuff for the same price. I ended up getting a drink because they have two iced tea options that aren't listed online (only the Coke options are, and I don't consumer those products). My food was prepared quickly and I took it home to eat. The egg roll has chicken and veggies and comes with a packet of sweet & sour sauce, more emphasis on the sweet. It's a nice addition to the meal: crispy and satisfying. The chicken fried rice was really good as well, and I got it with their spicy teriyaki sauce ($0.40). Everyone that works here is so nice:) They remember their regular's orders too which is something I've always thought is important in customer service. Honestly one of the worst spots I've been to. The food tasted bland and low quality, like no effort was put into it at all. Everything was overpriced for what you get they were really about to charge me almost $20 for just one bowl, which is insane. The portion wasn't even good either. This location has sunk to its lowest point. Once my absolute favorite Samurai Sams and teriyaki in general, it's now a mere shadow of its former self. Prices are higher, portions are smaller, and the quality is dismal. The chicken was dry (I didn't know you could make chicken that dry and gross), the rice undercooked or stale, and I nearly chipped a tooth on something hard (assuming a bone from my dry chicken?). I have ordered from here probably a hundred times over the years. This will be my final meal from this location, not sure if it's a new owner or what the heck happened, but I'm out. read more

Super bummed... I really enjoy the food here but right as I pulled up and could see into the storefront and there's an employee behind the counter / behind the door with the red flags and he's putting food into his mouth with his bare hands. Seeing a food handler eating behind the counter was a huge appetite killer. Then as I continued to watch he proceeded to take food orders and then also prepare meals without gloves or washing his hands. That's a huge food safety violation. I almost came in to mention it... but I think I'd rather just not eat here. Lots of good teriyaki places around. This one is just ok. It was 12:15 on a Tuesday and the place was dead. Should have been my first flag. I thought I had a digital coupon on Yelp, but apparently it was an old one that they never took down. Oh well, I was already here because of the coupon, might as well try it. I asked for extra sauce and it was .40 for a tiny tiny half ounce. I asked if maybe they could hook something up because of the bait and switch. No go. Fine, I'll get the dark meat chicken teriyaki bowl. The sauce was like water, it didn't cover the chicken at all. The rice to chicken ratio was so far off even with a large bowl that I had a whole cup of rice left at the end. Lol ‍ Also, it didn't really taste all that good. I was very disappointed with the food, and that they didn't take coupons. I ordered the shrimp soboba, looked nothing like the picture. Six lil shrimp when it shows more than that in the photo. My friends chicken teriyaki was dry and stringy. The veggies cut so thin you could see thru them. Well I will just go down the street a couple of miles and get PANDA EXPRESS. An absolute aberration of a business, they have pick your proteins but everything is seriously cheap quality ( frozen, as well as beef kept together by ligament ) they have a thai peanut sauce that is amazing but unfortunately you can only get it with one particular item and not the rice bowl Or the yakisoba bowl because it is already pre-flavored. I had checked out the reviews and I really should have believed them since there's 3 within a 10 mile radius of where I was and they all were about a 3 star average. What a bummer, 2 bowls cost 22$ also got upgraded to the cauliflower rice and it was extremely wet and bland as well as microwaved hotter than the vegetables they put on it . Terrible read more

Down the street from our house and a good alternative to pizza and burgers. Different options with white rice or brown rice, vegetables included if requested or just with the meat. Good flavor, quick service and friendly staff. Store is clean and there is plenty of parking as it is in the shopping center that use to have the Albertsons. This time I ordered a regular white meat teriyaki bowl on door dash and it came with so little chicken (see photo) that I'm a bit disappointed. I know restaurants are struggling due to COVID, but this is no way to keep a customer! Ordered 2 Teriyaki bowls last night, but not up to usual Samurai Sam standards. Large chicken bowl had zero sauce on bowl (ordered reg Teriyaki with a side of spicy) just had some spicy sauce containers included. Regular shrimp bowl had almost no sauce at all despite ordering ordering it with regular sauce. Veggies were kind of wilty as well, but major disappointment was in lack of sauce! read more

What a disappointing lunch! So I have gone to Samurai Sams in the past and I loved them! Then they slowly started closing them down in the Mesa area and they were just a old memory till I drove by one at lunch while at work. Without thinking I turned around super excited and stoked to have some of that delicious teriyaki sauce drenching chicken and white rice. The location was not very clean to begin with however I didn't really care, I already had my heart set on a bowl of teriyaki chicken... The staff was nice and was quick to get my order up. Now, one of the reason I gave 2 stars is because I remember they used to let you pour your own teriyaki sauce on your bowl.. You used to be able to load it up and even have it overflow... Not here. Nope, they give you the amount they think it should have and if you ask for more they charge 50 cents for a small cup of it. It was ridiculous. I wasn't going to pay more so I just dealt with what was given to me. 10 min after eating my co worker and I both got sudden stomach pains for a few hrs. The only thing we had eaten that was the same thing that day was Samurai Sams, so im no detective but I am guessing it was that. I personally have probably eaten my last samurai sams meal... Fast, affordable, healthy. I come to this location often and it's always consistent. I order White Chicken Teriyaki with Brown Rice and a Ginger Salad on the side. You can't go wrong there. It's funny to me when people get so frustrated with what it basically fast food service and gripe on Yelp about it like your 7.00 chicken bowl was supposed to be Maestro's epic. The Latino Gal that runs the lunch time is always quick and wonderful. Then again I'm not hard to please. I recommend this location and the one at 44th St and Jefferson as my favorites in the Valley. Example, on my way to work, in a hurry, call my order in and when I go to pay, not over the phone prior to the drive, he tells me they are only taking cash right now! Ok, next time ....same thing. I said you should prob tell people over the phone when they order. Today on my way to work, cash in hand. Trying to call in my order and the phones busy for 15 minutes!! When I arrive I ask the girl if the phone is off the hook, she says yeah well it was busy, I had a lady on hold, I dont know how to use this phone( a handset) she has been working there atleast 5 months. Try the spicy chicken bowl (my preference is dark meat, no veggies, and white rice). The people working at this location are the best. You'll get greeted with a cheery "How are you my friend?" and a big smile. (and for those of you complaining the prices have been going up...check the other restaurants around town - that $10 minimum wage is raising prices everywhere...and it's going to go up again in January - don't blame the restaurant!) read more
