Well, well, well...It is hard to describe this place. A ramen version of Panda Express or Poke place maybe? I was looking for a place with clear shoyu broth instead of tonkatsu broth adding shoyu sauce, and Ramen Hood seems to be the only one that popped up in my short search for the North Phoenix. When we get there...my husband gave me a look that was filled with question mark. The ambience is more like a cafe or a fast food place even though they do have a great wall drawing. I like that you can have options to choose your own toppings with no extras other than the seasoned eggs. Our ramen bowls came rather quickly with a few mixed up in the toppings. The server brought up the food was very nice with proper disposable chopsticks and forks. I do wish the soup was a bit warmer for a ramen bowl. Honestly, there are some good things to say about the individual items. The flavor of the seasoned egg was on point, and the shoyu broth was clear as I wanted (although a little lacking in depth). The flavor of the chashu pork was also great, but way too fatty (like 90% fat). The teriyaki chicken however was a very odd protein option for ramen. Don't think I like how everything were put together though. It feels like some of the items were prepared ahead by someone who knows what they are doing, but the people who are there cooking the ramen and putting them together may never had a proper real Japanese ramen if you know what I mean. An update from older review: they've somewhat gone down in quality as of more recently in my opinion. The noodles and broth are still decent but the broth comes out lukewarm/cold-ish at best which was the most disappointing part. This was in the middle of normal dinnertime as well around 6pmish. Quality of ingredients are so so but they are generous in the amount, which is nice. Plenty of seating including single seating. Self order through iPads and you bring your receipt to the cashier. This Ramen restaurant is okay in a pinch. I was less than impressed with their egg, and their miso broth was nothing to write home about. If you are looking for more of an authentic, higher quality Ramen, this is not the spot for you. I was at this restaurant on January 10, 2023 around 4:00pm. Another customer sitting next to me had a heart attack. My partner and I immediately called 911 and provided CPR and aid to the customer. I came here and first off, you order at a kiosk, then take it to a cashier who's also cooking to pay. The service speed was acceptable but didn't have my name called except for one of the workers staring at me with a bag in their hand. I ordered a custom ramen bowl and the taste was disappointing compared to Silverlake. Worst of all I paid $4 for edamame that wasn't in the bag. I paid $42 for two bowls of ramen that were mid at best. Save your money and time and go anywhere else. read more

Delivery: The Ramen at Ramen Hood is adequate... nothing to write home about, but decent. The biggest issue is the meat... The pork they include is basically raw bacon. It's quite nasty - best to remove and toss it in the trash. Ramen restaurants that produce a higher quality / more authentic product use a thicker cut of pork (from a different part of the animal) so it's never slimy. Hood also ignores requests to include hot chili oil and garlic oil when ordering via app or delivery, no matter how you go about making sure they are included on the original order. They also don't pack the liquid portion of the order very carefully, despite using a ton of plastic. Seems like there's always something dripping by the time it gets to you. All that said, it's an enjoyable bowl of Ramen if you doctor it up a little when it arrives, and I've certainly had worse. Last note: the gyoza is hauntingly similar to what you get from a pack of frozen tossed in the microwave. Not worth the $8. read more

While you can opt for no noodles, I prefer the egg noodles and the gluten free ones aren't too bad. You also have options for your protein and they tend to be very generous in portion sizes.
