I ordered their special beef pho, and the broth was seriously delicious--rich, flavorful, and exactly what you want in a good bowl of pho. I did ask about oxtail pho, but it wasn't on the menu. The sweet surprise was our waitress telling me her dad was planning to bring it in next week just for me, which honestly made the whole visit even more memorable. Unfortunately, we were leaving the next day, so I couldn't take her up on that, but I really hope they add it to the menu!!! I'm Vietnamese and I am very particular about my pho broth. It's one of the first things I try when I visit a Vietnamese place I've never been to. This place definitely got my 5 stars for their pho! The broth was perfectly spiced - I did not need to add any flavoring except the typical mint leaves and jalapeños. The noodles were not overcooked. The brisket and rare steak were tender. And they were good size pieces. We also ordered the crispy noodles, which was a first for me. And they were very good, especially the sauce that was on it. The pho broth is perfectly seasoned without adding any sauces. The service is very quick and they answered my questions about the beef skillet to make sure I ordered the right one. The bread the skillet was served with was warm and fresh. Debating whether to go DoorDash something to the hotel or try venturing, I chose to walk to Pho Noodles and get my bowl of pho piping hot. This is a little dingy hole-in-the-wall. It was a little confusing placing the order because there was no one at the front of the restaurant but the worker looked confused when I told them I wanted to stay to have the pho. But there were a few people already eating inside on a fairly early Monday night, so it seemed promising. The pho was brought out after a little while. There was a sizable amount of food in the bowl. Unfortunately, that was the high point of this experience. The soup was bland and seemed like someone was trying to make up for the lack of flavor with some MSG and sugar, but did not succeed. The noodles were overcooked, like they'd been sitting a long time. This made the texture very poor. But there was a good amount of veggies for the pho, and the meat tasted ok. The water they gave us tasted funny. My partner and I ordered the shrimp&pork spring rolls and 2 Bun Bo Hues. The server brought out our soups. Few minutes pass and I wondered if they forgot our spring rolls. Which he did since I saw him bring out other table's appetizers and entrees. I wanted to get his attention so I waited and watched him for a good solid 15 minutes. I could tell he was avoiding eye contact and kept hiding in the kitchen. I gave up on the rolls. The Bun Bo Hue barely had any protein in it. Maybe a few slices of meat. The soup base wasn't even Bun Bo Hue. They didn't give us much garnishes either. No point in trying to flag him down since he was avoiding us. The service was nonexistent. It wasn't just my table. I looked around and the other tables needed their water refilled and other services. Not once did he check on any of us. I couldn't even finish my food because the food was so bland. I had high hopes based on reviews and was left disappointed. I went up to pay the bill. I told the lady at the register that we didn't get our spring rolls and she said "sorry" in an unapologetic tone. But because I'm a server myself in a different Vietnamese restaurant, I still left a tip. I left a 10% tip, wasn't much but honestly they didn't deserve a few bucks in my opinion. The high Yelp ratings brought me to this restaurant for dinner. My own experience will keep me away. We excitedly ordered 1. Spring Rolls with Shrimp and Pork, 2. Rice Noodles with Seafood, 3. Rice Noodles with Chicken Shrimp and Beef, and 4. Special Combination Fried Rice. The chicken in the noodle dishes arrived tough and dry. The fried rice was over-fried, the beef and chicken in the fried rice were inedible. Bean sprouts provided with the noodle dishes were wilted and brownish in color. Regrettably this is the worse meal at a Vietnamese restaurant for us in 20 years. After paying the $54 dinner bill, we went to have another dinner at a nearby IHOP! The restaurant is located within a huge, but mostly deserted (vacant) shopping center. Lots of parking. The interior restaurant setting was comfortable, quiet, and clean. I made a mistake here and did not order pho noodles, so this may be on me. However, I did order a standard dish of com thit nuong, which should be very typical, however the meat was a pork chop (thit suong), and it was not marinated at all, which should be the standard. The egg rolls were good though, and the only saving grace to the meal. The stir-fried egg noodle dish that my partner was too oily, unfortunately. So I am a vegetarian so that will help orient those reading this review. Salted tofu (Tofu rang muoi) is amazing slightly salted. It comes with fresh tomatoes and cucumbers on the side with picked cabbage and carrots and optional rice (which I don't think costed more). The tofu was fried with grilled jalapeños and white onions, which gave spicy and sweet respectively. Very light and tasty meal that had spicy, salty, sweet, and sour all in one. On a separate time, I had the vegetarian pho. I have noticed a difference between vegetarian restaurants that serve pho (such as Veggie Village and Loving Hut) - these substitute the meat with mushroom and tofu with meat-like textures and typical vegetables found in pho - while Vietnamese restaurants that serve vegetarian pho use tofu that would be soft (though fried first to have some texture) and add vegetables like broccoli, carrots, or cabbage to fill it in. In all, the experiences are quite different and Pho Noodles fall in the latter category. Overall, good, but for the readers of this review, it is good to know what to expect. I will certainly be returning. Next time, I have my eye on the banh mi tofu. read more
