This is one of those places you would have know to come eat here. Can't really see it driving down the street. Well came here for lunch, nice chilly day and light rain, hot noodle soup dish sounds awesome. Nice small restaurant with friendly staff. Ordered spicy beef with rice noodle. Bowl came out pretty fast and of course as I expected noodle was not "just boiled" chew to it. It was not soggy but it didn't have the chew I like in my noodle. Don't get me wrong it was not bad, I would have waited little longer for fresher noodle. Broth had pretty good flavor and it's not spicy hot but it did have a mouth numbing schezwan pepper spice to it. I think this is one of two Chinese place I came with dish this mouth numbing . Noodle bowl was pretty good over all with good portion of meat and some veggies. I would come here again and try some other dishes.

One word YES!!! I work in the area. I have to work in office one week of the month. After work I'm not feeling going home cooking, long drive, plus annoying drivers equals go sit relax and get dinner. Tempe native here and Tempe has always been a foodies paradise in the Valley. It consists of diverse cultures which means various ethnic foods. So yes Yelp to the rescue what to eat? Hmmm let's see Chinese the out of town review win me over. It has late night pickup; cute, quaint, and not fancy. Review photos did it for me the person went all in on how good it was in her review. Why not try it. They have buns and dumplings; I feel like a little kid Drooling. Yes I got both bomb. I'm going back very small parking but worth the drama to get there. Next time may Lyft or Waymo from work & then back to avoid the drama of Tempe traffic & parking. Fluffy Grandma recommends.

Great spot for a late night meal offering a lot of options such as noodles, rice and dumplings. I ordered the chow fun here usually and it's good. My most recent visit I ordered the spicy beef noodle soup with chili wontons and I would get that combo again. The noodles can be chosen as egg or rice. The beef was really tender and soft. I highly recommend this place.

They offer very authentic Taiwanese/Chinese food here. My husband and I love it! The flavor may be just a little bit too plain for average US taste, but it would be exactly what my taiwanese mom would like, The people here are so nice and welcoming, just like a family! The ambiance is a little old styled, but kept very clean. Absolutely a keeper!

Pretty decent noodles and wontons. The spicy wontons were more on the sweeter side. Portion is pretty big!

Chen's Noodles may be tucked away in a sketchy-looking plaza with limited parking, but don't let that fool you--this place is a hidden gem. The owners, who seem to have a Taiwanese background (you can tell by what's playing on the TV), run the restaurant with warmth and hospitality. My go-to order is the rice noodles and their signature dish: steamed chicken with chili sauce. The portions are generous--I can never finish everything in one sitting--so I always take half the chicken home and use their incredible chili sauce to make my own noodles later. The owners, a friendly Asian uncle and auntie, are always so kind. They go out of their way to offer extra soup for the rice noodles and greet every customer with the warmest smile. I've even spent holidays like New Year's and Chinese New Year here, and their food never fails to bring me comfort--it truly feels like home. By the way, don't forget to ask for a punch card from them!

Consistently great food at a solid price. I go for the braised beef noodle soup(order it spicy and get the chewy noodles) as well as the soup dumplings. The service is pretty fast and there's lots of seating. They are also perfect for night cravings as they do have late hours. It's a cute and clean little place.

Was craving some legit Chinese and had seen this place pop up online. Unlike most places that get featured on some foodie instagrams, this place didn't look like it was all about being cute and the food looked more my style. When you get there the menu is what you imagine at a legit Chinese place, written in both English and Chinese. It's kind of hard to picture a lot of the items if you're not already familiar because there's not many pictures or much of a description. With some help from the women working there I ended up choosing the spicy beef noodle soup, the soup dumplings, and chow fun in XO sauce and added chicken. When i got the soup I could smell the Szechuan peppercorn in there which I love and was exciting for the mouth numbing experience. The soup was tasty, and the beef was super soft. As first you might think it's going to be a bunch of tendons in the meat, but not at all. The dumplings were also delicious and done well. I unfortunately was not a huge fan of the chow fun but that's completely on me since I had no idea what I was really ordering. Knocking a place down because I didn't like it would be wrong. If you're not familiar, XO sauce is a bit seafoody in flavor and there was no way I was getting through that whole plate of it. Overall, great authentic food. You can tell that the family running the place works hard and I can appreciate that.

Friday night dinner spot! The place is easy to find and although the parking is limited, we were lucky to find a spot right away. The place itself is functional and has your condiments ready at your table. The staff were very friendly and the food came fast! The xiao long baos were delicious and the soup and the filling was so good. The lamb skewers were tender and well seasoned. I liked the fried rice a lot with a nice heat and strong flavors. The noodle soup was also great: the noodles were soft and chewy, the soup was awesome but very spicy. The kind of spice that builds up! The owner stopped by to say hi which was very nice of him to do so. Everyone made sure we had everything we needed.

    Kat V.

I should have been to this place sooner! I hear about them but I was worried about traffic/parking around the campus. I did delivery order and I wanted to do this every Friday. The fish is so tasty with some kinds of salt and pepper sauce with lots of chili. The pickled celery on top of rice is surprisingly good and addictive. The black rice porridge is tasty with a little bit of sweetness. I need more bowl please.

I stopped by Caldwell County BBQ for dinner on a Saturday evening. Located in Gilbert, I found…read morestreet parking right in front of the restaurant despite it being quite busy. I'll preface this review by saying I have very high standards when it comes to BBQ. I am from Houston after all. Caldwell County BBQ very much lived up to the hype. It's no surprise their reviews are so good. Ambiance (5/5): Caldwell County BBQ serves Texas-style BBQ. I felt right at home. There's a lot of Texan decor and the sort of ambiance you would expect at a BBQ joint. It's a spacious restaurant with plenty of seating outside and a decent amount of seating inside. We sat inside. One of the things they do well is keeping the A/C blasting both indoors and outdoors (while you're likely going to wait in line) along with misters. Definitely something you need in Phoenix! Service (4/5): I hate waiting in line. Though it's not unusual at popular BBQ spots, I still wish places like this would hire a couple of more people to make the line move faster (or even completely eliminate the lines). We probably waited in line for about 20 minutes. They have a water cooler along the route, but it was all out. Something the staff should check on a little more frequently. With all this being said, Caldwell County is well worth the wait. Drinks (5/5): Whenever I'm at a BBQ joint, I'm looking for sweet tea. Which they have here. Plus your standard assortment of soft drinks and alcohol, with a focus on beer. Food (5/5): BBQ joints typically have you pay by weight or by plates (one meat, two meats, three meats, etc.). Caldwell does it by the pound unless you go with a sandwich, loaded baked potato, etc. What's nice is they also have a family pack for 4 which comes with brisket, pulled pork, and your choice of ribs, sausage, or one other protein which is escaping me. Plus two large pint-size sides. We rolled with this option as it's a good deal (brisket, pulled pork, and St. Louis style ribs with corn casserole and mac and cheese). White bread, pickles, onions, and jalapenos are available free of charge. There are three BBQ sauces at each table: their classic BBQ, spicy, and AZ gold). We also added a quarter pound of the AZ burnt ends. Man, these are some quality meats. Brisket is the true test of Texas BBQ and the shining star. The brisket here isn't the best I've ever had but it's quite respectable. The sweet and spicy AZ burnt ends were delicious too. The ribs were tender and had a nice sweet glaze on them. The pulled pork was my least favorite, but still quite good. The sides are solid, though they could be a bit better. The mac and cheese was too peppery for my taste and the corn casserole was too sweet. Like pretty much all craft BBQ these days, Caldwell County BBQ isn't cheap. But the quality is there. This is the type of place that I would come back to again and again. They also have a location in Peoria though this one is the original. And I hear they don't run out of meats as other BBQ joints do (especially in Texas). That's a big plus! It's always a bummer when a BBQ joint is out of something you want. If you haven't been to Caldwell County BBQ, change that quick. Yeehaw!

Seating 15/5 Anyone familiar with Caldwells business model knows this is a wait inline to order, move over to the cashier then search for seatings which can be challenging at best during peak lunch & dinner hours. In our case the Caldwell's manager Torrin personally re-arranged tables so our group could be seated together and included one table for all the food and gifts. Food 10/5 This rating recognizes Caldwell's BBQ is wildly popular. Pushing it higher for this experience was how the food was delivered to the party. Once our party of 30 were seated together, four + large variety platters of protein, sides and fountain beverages were placed on a serving table family style. Atmosphere 5/5 The back patio was our celebration location and it was filling up quickly and we gathered for the celebration. During the course of our visit we enjoyed the transition from daylight to evening where the atmosphere of the back patio began to soften with a wonderful span of string patio lighting for outdoor ambiance. This quickly became an extremely fun place to move table to table visiting with everyone. As always, we love the BBQ here...we typically get the moist brisket, the smoked potatoes, the three bean salad...today I also added a couple of corns and their cole slaw. Here's where the customer service outshined previous visits...when I got there and started to order our to-go dinner, I was told the potatoes were gone and they were making more but it would be about 20-30 minutes before they were ready. I was told that someone previously had come in an purchased 30 potatoes, which I will always say...if you are going to order something that large from a restaurant, please be considerate and pre-order so they are prepared. You walking in and ordering that big of an order put the people behind you without some of their choices. No worries today...it's Mom's Day and I wasn't going to sway from getting BBQ for our dinner. I had some other things to do so left the store to take care of other business. Once back home (we live fairly close to the store), I called to ask if the potatoes were ready and after being placed on a brief hold, was told they had some ready but they were flying out the door! The young lady asked me if I wanted to place an order over the phone and decided to do that just so I could be sure we had their most wonderful smoked potatoes. I drove down to pick up our order and was met with some of the best staff, who laughed with me about the situation. They agreed about people calling beforehand when wanting that much food, apparently they also got about 30 lbs of meat as well. It's all good and we will be back when we need our Rudy's fix!

The brisket was further flavored choosing one or more of the three sauces: sweet hot ish BBQ, sweet mustard sauce and one more flavor. My top taste of the meal was prickly pear lemonade. Going back for a refill I found 2/3 lemonade and 1/3 prickly pear made my perfect BBQ beverage. The peppery beans with another serving of pulled meat mixed in improved on my palate with sweet sauce added. The mustard sauce was recommended for our sandwich. It was a good addition. Will the family return here to dine? I'll write another review when we come back.

If the server was overloaded with other tables we could understand. This was not the case. There were 3 other patrons in the restaurant. All the servers and other employees were at the hostess stand and there were 4 of them. A bartender could tell visually that our drinks at that point were almost empty. However, we were not her customers Fair enough! However, at 4:15 pm I would expect our server to have come back to check on us. Also, not begrudging employees working double shifts. But, 2 other employees eating wings in the bar. All things forgiven if I had gotten decent service. I was going to eat dinner. But, given the service climate. I decided to cut my losses and pay for my beverages and leave . I would have commented to the Manager on duty if one has been visible. I have been to other locations of BobbyQ's and had a great experience. It's just a shame the employee's and management at this location don't care. Even though this location is only 3.5 miles from my house. I doubt I will be back. It might be a while, but will go to the 27th ave location. Good luck with this location You might want to fix your service challenges or you might go the way of Zen Burger. People will only put up with so much even if the food is exceptional. Don't rest on your Laurel's.
