Some co-workers were eating food from here last week & it looked good. I don't take a lunch so wherever I go to pick up food has to be close. This is not close to my work so I ordered Door Dash for delivery today. I really wanted to like it, but it was just okay. I ordered a lunch special. I got the sweet & sour chicken since it's my favorite. I paid 50 cents more for the vegetable fried rice. I also paid a little more because I wanted the crab Rangoon instead of soup. The chicken was good, but I didn't like love the sweet & sour sauce. It was runny & a little too sour. The crab Rangoon was really good. The fried rice looked good, but it fell flat for me. I'm not sure why, but even with the soy sauce it didn't have much of a taste. It had broccoli, peas, carrots & onions in it. I usually prefer crispy tofu, and the Ma Po Tofu didn't have any photos or a clear description that it was made with soft tofu. We ordered it anyway because we enjoy Szechuan flavors, so we knew we were taking a bit of a gamble. When it arrived (via DoorDash) and we saw it was soft tofu, we were a little disappointed, but we rolled with it. Overall, the food was decent. The lo mein noodles were al dente and very long. The Szechuan dish wasn't really spicy, so we added sriracha and soy sauce to adjust the flavor. It also came with white rice and fortune cookies. Portions were fairly generous--we ordered a regular Ma Po Tofu, a small lo mein, and rice, and still had enough leftovers for two people. A solid, average experience for us. Coming from the east coast (Allentown, PA) this is the closest I've found to home. The wonton soup without seafood in it(unless you prefer it that way), thick crispy egg rolls, and a great general Tsos chicken! This has become my go to Chinese spot and can vouch for all of the above as well as the fried wontons, sesame chicken, Mongolian beef, house special rice is solid, orange chicken is great. Portion to price ratio is fair in my opinion, I never feel like I overpaid here. The Americanized Chinese food we ordered included orange chicken, walnut chicken, and chow mein. The authentic Chinese food we ordered were two orders of dumplings, one fried and one steamed. The orange chicken was good- good size portions and nicely battered/fried. The orange sauce was fresher tasting than Panda's. Walnut chicken I feel like is hard to find and I was delighted to see Beijing Express has it! They were nice and big pieces of chicken, also battered and fried, then coated with mayo. Really, you can't go wrong! The walnuts offer a nice crunch. It reheats well the next day too! The chow mein was a disappointment; it was just the noodles, no meat, no veggies. I wonder if that was due to us subbing it for rice rather than ordering it as a side? Nonetheless you expect your chow mein to be more than just mein... I have mixed feelings about the dumplings. On one hand they are made in house and that says a lot! Making dumplings from scratch is a lot of work! They are big and they're good, not great. On the other hand they are filled with pork and cabbage which is NOT traditional; I would love to see them filled with pork and Chinese chives! The fried dumplings needed to be fried a bit longer; they were soggy on the bottoms. Overall I would still get them; they are still better than your average frozen dumplings. We purchased two lunch specials from Beijing Express. The price has gone up slightly yet still a great deal. Upon entering, I noticed their small dining area is now open for sit down. I asked staff how long the dining area had opened and he replied just a few days. I ordered the Broccoli chicken and the Cashew chicken. I was a walk in order and only waited about 5 minutes for our take out. We ate the Cashew chicken tonight and it was good with tender chicken pieces, cashews, carrots and mushrooms. A bit bland so we added the hot mustard and some duck sauce to it. The veggie egg roll was good after I heated it quickly in the pan. Ended up trashing the honey and glad I had some sauces at home I could out together to coat the chicken in. Super greasy, and saltless super pork egg foo young, tasteless eggdrop soup, disgusting tasting Kung Pao tofu, watered down sweet, and sour sauce - if that is what it was supposed to be. Ended up throwing most of it out due to it being super greasy (like drinking veggie oil straight greasy) Inedible, and left feeling sick with what i did eat.
