Every time I go here the food is amazing and the service is fast and it's reasonable priced

I applied for a server position and was contacted by the employer. I was asked the hours I could NOT work during the week and I provided my availability. The representative proceeded to ask "Why would you apply to this job when you can't work the required hours. You are wasting everyone's time". Their ad indicates working hours are Mon-Sat 11:30am-8pm, 51 hours per week. I misread this information and mistook it as they may need workers during this time frame since full time hours are typically capped at 40. I'm available after 4pm M-Th, after 12pm Fri and all day Sat bc I already work a full time job. I hung up on the gentleman because he was being rude even after I admitted that I wouldn't be a good fit for this position. Instead of letting this go, this person proceeded to TEXT ME on my personal cell phone. No wonder the restaurant is looking for employees. If this is the representation they currently have, I could only imagine how they treat their employees. read more

They always say you can find some of the best food at "hole in the wall" places. This restaurant doesn't even have it's own sign out front, it's combined with another restaurant. I'm not entirely sure how it works, but they are two separate businesses operating at the same location? So that makes the Golden Egg Roll a hole in the wall in a hole in the wall! Don't think you are going to the wrong place. Another tip, do pick up, not delivery. Our order was $75 for delivery, not including tip, but only $40 for pick up including tip. I ordered 2 Pork Egg Rolls, 2 Shrimp Egg Rolls, Shrimp Fried Rice and a Large order of Barbecue Pork with Vegetables. My order taker explained that the Pork Egg Rolls, had Shredded Pork in them. As a very first time Customer, I did not see or taste any pork in them. The Shrimp Egg Rolls had a rice wrap on them, yet had the very same fillings as the pork rolls. Both tasted fair, but was nothing to recommend. The Shrimp Fried Rice had miniature shrimp in them, along with peas and carrots. The rice itself, had a decent yet plastic texture. Maybe could have used a fresh batch and more distinctive seasoning. The Barbecue Pork with Vegetables had various vegetables in it from snow peas to mini corns. The Barbecue Pork slices had great flavor and was prepared in a dark brown sauce. The one truly great experience for my first time ordering here, was how inviting the Golden Egg Roll Staff Member was. Although I may not order Egg Rolls or Fried Rice again here, I will make an effort to return for something different on the menu. I've been going to this hole in the wall place for decades and is my all time favorite Chinese food restaurant. Food is always excellent the only bummer is my wife finding out she had to be gluten free after I got her addicted to them. Not faulting them on not having GF option as I don't find many outside a chain restaurant that does. Always get an egg roll (they are amazing). I have been coming to Golden Egg roll for years! When my brother used to live out here this was the place we went for lunch. It is a great lunch spot! I haven't been during dinner time. I took my daughter there for lunch, it was 12pm on a Thursday, and it wasn't packed, we placed our order, I had the orange chicken combo, extra spicy! Omg so delish!! What you have to know before going here is that it's not a sit-down restaurant. Once you get that expectation out of the way, you'll avoid awkwardly standing at the front wondering why no one is seating you. Think of this place like a Samurai Sam's. You go in, walk up to the counter to order, find yourself a seat, then the food is made and brought out to your table, but you're responsible for throwing out your trash and placing the tray on the shelf above the trash can. The food was delicious and came out freshly cooked. However I would only order it again as take-out. Although the interior is clean, it's not very well kept. There was an overflowing closet of supplies and overall seems to be meant most for take out orders. Card is accepted, the receipt has a tip line, and there is plenty of parking including a few designated parking spots right out front just for Golden Egg Roll customers. read more

So I've been trying to find a place that closely resembles a restaurant I was a patron of for 30 years, Sing High, whom recently closed there door permanently. In search of the perfect bowl of Pork Fried Rice. This is the first time I've ever tried this place as CoWorkers have always ordered but I never had a desire to try. I love anything I get there whether it's chicken, shrimp or beef and I LOVE their sweet and sour sauce, it's not as heavy as most. The reason I rate it 3 stars is because of the rice! I wish it was more fried rice-y? It's fully cooked and all I just want more flavor. And I just hate water chestnuts and forget they put it in like all of their sides and that's it. I can't believe that this place is still in business. A few years ago, I got sick with food poisoning and spent 7 days in the hospital. The salmonella was so bad in my system that my colon was bleeding and I had a temperature of 102. With several rounds of antibiotics I recovered. I called The Board of Health to complain about this place and they told me they didn't have enough workers to investigate them. That's scary. A co-worker from work ordered the food and we had it delivered. So I had no idea what this place was about. My co-worker didn't get sick. All her food was fried. I ordered the cashew chicken with white rice. I read that if they cut the chicken and chop the veggies on the same cutting board this is cross contamination that could cause salmonella. Also, the white rice might have been sitting around for days. Since 2013, I have avoided eating at any Chinese restaurants. When I was in the hospital there was a mother and daughter on the same floor who also ate at a Chinese restaurant and got food poisoning. I don't know what restaurant they ate at. Beware of this place. You can die from food poisoning. read more

I've been coming here since I was a kid, I always loved the "house chicken" but will not be back. Went here yesterday and my family and I all got food poisoning! I know it was from this place because we just had granola bars for breakfast and came here for lunch. After lunch the burps began and we've been sick since. I pass by here everyday coming from work and I decided to stop in for lunch. I heard a lady come out the restroom and say, "It's scary in there." As soon as I heard that I thought I should be prepared for a trip to the restroom after eating because if the restroom is scary then the food must be horrible. Nope! Very reasonably priced, huge portions, fast service, friendly people, good food. This place is definitely no frills and I doubt much of anyone eats in the restaurant. However, if you are looking for a good, quick Chinese fix, it's worth checking out. I had vegetable Singapore noodles. Food is a great value, no complaints in that department. I like the orange chicken a lot, it tastes like something you'd pay a lot more for in a sit down restaurant. Online ordering is apparently a gamble. Today I ordered, received a confirmation email and 90 minutes later hadn't received my food. Gave them a call and they claim they didn't get the order. They said I could wait another hour if I still wanted food. I ordered online at 6pm and had my food by 6:30. Cons: The chicken in the chicken fried rice. As far as the rice went, it was great. Full of flavor. The chicken was meh. Lots of dark marks and lots of pieces attached by a thin string of fat. Watery sweet and sour sauce. Bad crab puffs. I really hate when Chinese places put "Crab Puff" on their menu, and when you get it its just a wonton filled w/ cream cheese. Its very disappointing. And thats what youll get if you order the crab puffs here. Lastly, and this for me is one of the biggest factors in choosing a Chinese restaurant, their hot mustard. They only serve the faux "hot mustard" in packets, the stuff that when you taste it tastes more sweet than hot. Boo. Overall, a meh experience. read more

The Golden Egg Roll is convenient as it's right near where I live. For the food and the price, I have to say they offer a good value. However, it's not the most flavorful Chinese food I've had. Great food, friendly staff - got takeout for my Mom's birthday because she loves this place - and they gave us a free liter of Diet Coke as a birthday gift! Just a very thoughtful gesture. Their wonton soup (and wor wonton soup) is EXCELLENT - get extra tofu added in!! The lettuce wraps are great (they have green peppers, just FYI, they removed them per my request and the wraps were perfect for us), honey walnut shrimp was great (it has pineapple chunks - unexpectedly different, but yummy), and the crab puffs are to die for. My Mom and her coworkers order lunch from here all the time and have never disliked anything. Give it a try! read more

This place is pretty bad. I got the orange chicken extra spicy and it was so bland. No flavor at all. The fried rice wasnt good either. Nothing was in it is it looked and tasted like brown rice. The only reason I gave it two stars and not one is because the egg roll was good- but it's hard to screw up an egg roll as long as its warm. I don't recommend this place at all. read more
