SENTRY - WATCHING RESTAURANTS Lin's Grand Buffet 3955 E. Baseline Road Phoenix, 85042+ Companion and I wanted to try a new Chinese buffet, and Lin's came to mind. We had heard both positives and negatives about it so it was about time to make up my own mind. We arrived at 5:00 and were seated immediately. The buffet looked interesting with about 6 rows of items to peruse. Companion went first and when he returned I got a plate and began my tour. First item on my plate was the seafood boil. Crawdads, shrimp, mussels, corn on cob, potatoes and lots of cajun spice. If it had been hotter it would have been wonderful. Next I started down a row of hotel pans, picking those items that seemed interesting to me. Shrimp in various incarnations, beef and broccoli, pork egg roll, potsticker, sticky pork rib, velveted pepper steak with onions, and a couple of pieces of sushi. The shrimp was nicely cooked and the pepper steak was tender and properly cooked. The sushi was unremarkable and the egg roll was soggy and without merit. The potsticker was nice as was a piece of fried banana. Sanitation in the food areas was excellent with counters being wiped down as needed. I also noted one of the chefs in the Mongolian BBQ area wiping down the tiles on the wall, which was quite impressive. However, not all was great. Food was tepid at best and while I did not have a thermometer with me my estimate was that none of the food was over 100 degrees. The restrooms were a different story. The ladies room was properly clean and appointed with nothing but a few drops of water on the floor by the sink. However, companion went into the men's room and took a picture for me. It could not pass any type of inspection by any person. Normally I would have handed my companion my ultra violet light which I use when checking bathrooms, but why waste the batteries? The place was filthy and the toilets were terrible. No use to stand upon the seat, the crabs in here can jump six feet! Companion remarked that it was disgusting and he forgoed using the facility. Unfortunately, my experience at this buffet was extremely disappointing, particularly when it came to customer service and the way my party and I were treated. My party and I are seniors, and when we asked about the senior discount, we were told that the staff could not refund the difference or apply the discount to our purchase. What was especially frustrating was that the staff could clearly see that we qualified as seniors, even though we had not initially identified ourselves as such. I understand that businesses have policies regarding discounts, but the way this situation was handled felt very unprofessional and lacked basic consideration for the customer. The manager on duty at approximately 1:00 PM was also the same manager we encountered approximately five or six weeks ago during a previous visit. During that visit, we felt uncomfortable because of what appeared to be excessive staring and attention directed toward us. On this occasion, we experienced similar behavior, which made us feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. At one point, while we were eating, the manager walked past our table with a broom and began sweeping nearby, creating dust in the dining area while customers were eating. I found this to be inappropriate and unsanitary, particularly while people were actively dining. The service from our waitress was also disappointing. Dirty plates were left on our table for an extended period, even after we had finished eating and returned to the buffet. Although she was attending to several other tables, we felt that our table was being overlooked. Most concerning, however, was our perception that there was a noticeable difference in how Black and white customers were being treated. I cannot speak to the intentions of the staff, but based on what we personally experienced and observed, we felt that we were treated differently. That left us feeling uncomfortable, disrespected, and unwelcome. A restaurant should make every customer feel respected, valued, and comfortable regardless of age or race. Unfortunately, that was not our experience. Based on the overall customer service, management, cleanliness, and treatment we received, I would rate this establishment -0 stars if that were an option. My family will seek another establishment to din at on Sunday's after church services as it is not an option to din here anymore I sincerely hope management takes this feedback seriously and investigates these concerns. Nov, 2025. My husband really likes the variety of foods on buffets so, when we passed by Lin's Grand Buffet during a recent trip to Phoenix, I knew that we would be going there for lunch. (Looking on-line, Lin's Grand Buffet appears have multiple restaurants in the Phoenix area; we visited the location on E Baseline Rd). This is a gigantic buffet, both in terms of the quantity and variety of food. In addition to rows and rows of entrees, noodles/rice, soups, salads, desserts, etc., there's also a Mongolian BBQ station and a counter with sushi. There was even a tray with enchiladas! My husband and I agreed that Lin's had some of the best tasting Chinese buffet food that we've ever had. Plus, given the large number of patrons, the food was hot and trays were replenished regularly. I particularly liked the pork dumplings (with a hint of fresh ginger), pepper shrimp, and breaded and fried zucchini (just like mom used to make!). My husband's favorites were beef and broccoli, cream cheese rangoons, and apple pie topped with vanilla ice cream. Unfortunately, the Mongolian BBQ was a fail for me. I filled my plate with a great variety of vegetables (bean sprouts, zucchini, cabbage, peppers, onions, garlic, etc.), noodles, and some chicken and beef, and then turned it over to the chef at the grill. When I picked it up a few minutes later, my fresh stir-fry was close to black in color because the chef had added a huge amount of soya sauce during the grilling process. I've been to other Mongolian BBQ restaurants that allow you to add your own sauces to your bowl before giving it to the grill chef; that would've been preferable in this case. I don't believe in wasting food -- but the only way that I was able to eat this was by adding more noodles to lessen the per-bite overbearing salty taste. Service was excellent. Our waitress was attentive, even refilling our ice waters before we asked, and efficiently taking away used plates. The restaurant was tastefully decorated and clean. I had never heard of this place before my mom saying she wanted to go here on the 4th of July for lunch. The place is huge and has some really nice decor with plenty of seating. My party of 5 was sat in a higher vantage point area so we could really see the hustle and bustle of this place. They took our drinks down right away and we all walked off to grab our plates. I typically learn towards sushi at buffets so I grabbed a couple pieces of yellowtail rolls, cooked salmon and seafood casserole. All of it was super tasty and pretty fresh. When we got to the buffet originally around 12pm it was not very busy but by 1pm the place was filling up fast! Lin's is a Chinese Buffet...if you've been to a Chinese Buffet before you more or less know what to expect. With that said, they quite busy even on weekdays, so the food definitely is not sitting around on the steam table for too long. Service is fine for a Chinese buffet. they are very attentive in getting your drinks to you and the refills are automatic. Food-wise things are decent, it's not too greasy although they are heavy on sodium and MSG. There's plenty of seating here as it's a massive restaurant. Overall, this is one of the better Chinese Buffets around. Not the healthiest to eat often, but something to be enjoyed once in a long while. read more

It was really amazing. Beautifully decorated very helpful where the staff. The salmon was out of this world. I also had some of the bake seafood casserole. That was very delicious. I had some of the mushrooms and the fried shrimp that was very good. one of the ladies got some kind of chicken or something and she said it was really spicy but she ate it. We came to Lin's on July 31st around 5 p.m., and unfortunately, it was one of the worst restaurant experiences we've ever had. First, the restaurant was extremely hot inside. When it's nearly 117 degrees outside in Phoenix, having a properly climate-controlled restaurant is a basic expectation. The young hostess seated us toward the back of the restaurant. I politely asked if we could sit at the corner booth because my autistic daughter does much better when she is able to eat in a quieter area with fewer distractions. I explained the reason when she initially said no, and instead of responding professionally, she angrily tossed the napkins and silverware onto the table, walked away, and began mumbling something in Spanish. The entire interaction was incredibly rude and uncomfortable. As for the food, there was a decent variety, and some of it was okay for typical mass-produced buffet food. However, the dessert bar was extremely disappointing, with very limited options that consisted mostly of cookies and what appeared to be stale cakes. The soup was also terrible. The restaurant itself was filthy and uncomfortably hot, and to make matters worse, every toilet in both the men's and women's restrooms was clogged. That is completely unacceptable and raises serious concerns about the cleanliness and upkeep of the establishment. Overall, this was an absolutely terrible experience from start to finish. I took my family here two weeks ago, after seeing the place advertised on social media. The place is big and when you walk in there is a lot of variety for sure . The reason I'm giving 4 stars is some of the flavors were off, by that I mean the seasoning or lack there of. I noticed they had a lot of American food too, mostly geared towards kids I would guess, but I feel like this might have spread them too thin. We came in yesterday with my Grammy visiting from out of town. We can in at lunch for a party of 5 it cost around $87 and we left a cash tip. We were treated right away and sat very quickly. Tho it wasn't too busy, the food was nice, hot, and fresh like every time we come in. This is by far the best buffet we have been to in the area hands down. I had seen this place all over tik tok so I wanted to try it out. Let me say it is not the hype at all. People said there was a variety between asian, American and Mexican cuisine. The "Mexican" station consisted of only 1 dish- enchiladas. American there was only pizza, fries and chicken nuggets. The sushi station looked sad and disgusting and like the food had been sitting out for hours. On top of that, our server was a Latina woman. She came over to take our drink order and immediately started to speak Spanish. I said "I'm sorry what are you asking for, drinks? I don't speak Spanish." She just nodded and got the drinks. The steaks were really good--I got mine well done. My nephew enjoyed the noodles, ice cream, and cream puffs like before. The sushi, however, was still very dry, with the rice and seaweed being sticky and lacking freshness. Meat options were a bit limited, and some items, like the seafood and chicken bites, could use better preparation and heating. The ribs also didn't have much meat on them, making them not really worth grabbing. On the positive side, the wait time was short despite a decent number of people ahead of us. The staff was friendly and quick with refilling water. The restaurant itself was clean, but the bathrooms definitely need attention--there's a lot of graffiti and general messiness. I made the mistake of filling up my plate as I went. My plate was pretty full before I made it half way through their selections. I feel like the far majority of their options are super fresh and they are constantly re stocking because they are always super busy here. My absolute favs are the teriyaki chicken, jalepeno chicken, Kung pao, and the Mongolian grill station. These dishes are are hot and fresh and a lot of the chicken is actually crispy and flavorful. Don't sleep on the Mongolian grill station. They cook things up super nice and they got the steak nice and crispy from the grill. Price is great too. The menu offers a wide variety of Chinese dishes and some seafood, though the sushi was fairly basic and the dessert station consisted mostly of thawed frozen items and canned fruits. They do have a Mongolian grill and a steak station, but since both were manned by a single chef, the wait for a made-to-order steak was quite long and ultimately not worth the delay. While the pricing is fair for an "all you can eat" experience, the restrooms were in need of a deep cleaning and a serious upgrade. Overall, it's a decent, basic Chinese buffet if you are already in the neighborhood, but I wouldn't recommend driving out of your way for it when compared to other AYCE options. read more

I ate there yesterday, (Sat 11/1/25), and found a roach in my noodles. It was so disgusting I almost choked on my food. An older Asian woman at the front said "oh probably because we had an infestation problem and they had to spray", as if that explanation was suppose to make me feel better. The manager Robert was extremely rude about it. He acted as if he were annoyed with me for finding the roach, and when I took my phone to try to take a picture he literally snatched my plate up and ran with it. I went after him and he ran the plate to the back and said "sorry I threw it away already." Way to stand behind what you are serving people. I was with three other people who were disgusted and no longer wanted to eat their food. Shockingly Robert refused to refund the table. He said he would only refund my plate, even though no one wanted to eat their food anymore. Robert could have handled the situation much better considering the circumstances. Robert had the power to somewhat make it right but flat out refused and was rude. The people you have representing your business plays a crucial role in its success. Roberts lack of empathy and his unprofessionalism do not make him a good candidate to represent such a large establishment. Chinese food use to be one of my favorite types of food to eat, but now the thought of it disgusts me. This restaurant has ruined my love for Chinese food all together. As far as buffers go, this is the worst one I've ever been to, and I've been to a loooooot of buffets all over the country. The food is just awful. Very low quality. You get what you pay for, and $17 per diner is nothing considering how expensive food has become. If you're looking to fill your belly with decent food, skip this establishment. All the food offerings consist of American food: fried everything. Ten different iterations of the same Americanized sweet/sour/salty/spicy sauce. Zero variety. Zero seafood. We came here as a party of 13, but with only 12 eating, with me being the 1 not to eat. We mistakenly paid for 13 meals and let the server know before I even got settled in that we needed to amend the bill to 12 and they said ok it'll be handled after the group was done dining. Why did she come?" I'm fucking sorry? I'm not allowed to join my family for dinner because I have a disease? Who the hell are you to say I shouldn't come to dinner because I can't eat. Way to discriminate against disabilities, and 10/10 way to catch a lawsuit. Those two women should be fired. We were in plain view of the security cameras, I didn't eat, everyone saw, and the two bitches that said I shouldn't come to dinner with my family need to be checked. Why the hell would we try to scam a free meal if we're already paying for 12? A 13th breaks the bank and we need to lie about me? Jesus Christ. Lina grand buffet is generic Chinese food at best. Everything tastes the same no matter what the dish. The same sauce goes on ever thing they serve. Went once or twice and switched to pacific seafood buffet at Arizona ave or bell rd which are 100% better food hands down ever visit.
