Ok, my friends and I looooove meeting up at LA Crab Shack in Mesa, so while running errands today, we decided to check out the Ahwatukee location for lunch. From the moment we walked in, the vibes were great - our waitress was super friendly, the 90's playlist was hitting, and the food was DELICIOUS as always! We started with happy hour hurricanes, half a dozen raw oysters, and fried okra. First of all... they do NOT play with those hurricanes because that drink was STRONG!!! We almost ordered the jumbo platter, but ended up getting two pounds of live crawfish and shrimp with a few sides in their medium house blend. Perfect amount of spice - enough of a kick to satisfy, but still super flavorful and enjoyable. The ambiance was chill and relaxed, probably because they had just opened for lunch, which made it even better. Definitely recommend this spot if you're craving a good seafood boil! read more

Music playing sucked. Play Cajun music or something more towards the type of food you are serving. Over cooked crab so therefore boiled the meat out or it was stringy and rubbery. Fake butter and stuff was way too salty. The okra was overcooked also and had no taste. read more

While I enjoyed the shrimps (boiled) being from Louisiana I can share this is not Louisiana food. Additionally, the raw oysters at home would have been sent to the frying bin as they were the smallest I have ever been served. All this but I intend to return, but knowing I am there for the shrimp. We have frequented these crab boil places a lot lately but unfortunately this place was a disappointment. Our waiter Christopher happed to be a very nice guy but he was unable to change the events. We did have to change our seats because the music was blasting. When we asked if they could turn it down we were told no because "he" wants it loud. They then showed us to the corner of the restaurant where the music was not quite as loud. My biggest complaint is when we ordered we specifically asked if we order the garlic and butter there won't be any spices. He reassured us it was just garlic and butter. When our bag of food was brought to the table I knew immediately that there was no way it was just garlic and butter. All the other places we went to the juice in the bag was yellow. I took a bite of my corn and because I am so sensitive to spicy spice it got me right away. It was so spicy it was burning my lips. My cousin who actually likes spice was choking from the spice. Within about 15 minutes we all had headaches because we can't eat MSG without some reaction. What upset us was Christopher went to the cook to ask about the spice. He was told the garlic and butter has no spice but since everything is cooked in the same pot the Cajun spice soaks into everything. Our waiter did not know this and I find this very deceiving. If someone asks many times about spices common sense would tell you there is a reason. Shame on them!!!! read more

Crawfish were large and had great flavor. Sausage soaked up all the garlic and lemon pepper sauce in the crawfish boil, made it juicy. Oysters were moderate size, respectable for Arizona, and were very clean. Hush puppies and fried okra were very crunchy. Kids liked the salmon, though my wife had a taste and though it was slightly overcooked but not bad. The rest was great, enough we'll be adding this place to our Best of Phoenix list! read more

We love having a crab shack here in Ahwatukee. Great parking. Nice clean restaurant & very friendly staff. We have been here on the weekend and also during the week - service & food quality remains consistent. Personal Fav is the Cajun Garlic shrimp then add potato & sausage for a good mix of textures & taste. My ONLY "note"....eating is a multi sense experience. Eyes, nose, mouth & Ears. The music did not match the theme or vibe, at times it was a bit jarring. Try adding jazz or blues type background music to complete the Experience . The seasonings were on point and there was so much soft shell crab, other places like this usually give you two crabs cut in half, so four pieces total. Dropped in randomly one evening. The place was pretty sparse, not many customers on the evening we went. Wherever was polite and attentive but the food was not very good. We ate here for a belated Father's Day dinner and were not disappointed! This place is unassuming and is similar to other "crab shack" type places around the valley, but the food itself was pretty tasty. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meals, no complaints there. I was going to try either the shrimp pasta or the fish and chips, however their daily special was seasoned shrimp and a crab cluster, so I opted for that instead. Both were great, but the crab was really tender and flavorful! Since we went on a Monday, there were not a lot of people in the restaurant, I recommend going during the week as I can imagine this place probably gets pretty packed on the weekends. They had several televisions around the place, all were showing the World Cup, which gave it a sports bar vibe, they also played fantastic music! I joked that I would return just to hear the music they were playing. Finally, the service was really good, our waiter checked on us just enough times without feeling like he was trying to rush us out the door. They have a whole back page on the menu with happy hour specials, I recommend taking advantage of that if you are looking to save some money, they had fantastic appetizer and drink specials for happy hour. Was super excited to visit this new location, since we often go to the Mesa location. The restaurant is a okay size, a bit smaller than their other locations. The menu was really similar, but didn't have ramen on it like the other locations. The waitress was friendly, and our food was okay. It had a slight different taste, but it wasn't bad. Everything was going okay, until it came down to paying. We paid with our card, and when we got the booklet back our card was not in there. We looked for it everywhere before letting the waitress know it was missing in case it fell. She looked for it in the back and it was no where to be found. I walked in with low expectations. Not to name names, but I've been to a few other restaurants with the same theme, but the yelp reviews peaked my interest. I was pleasantly surprised; what I really liked is the menu was very diverse and offered plates if you're not interested in the "bag". I was told the most popular item was the "bag"so we decided to get it. We got the snow crab and the easy peel shrimp with mild house sauce. The sauce was amazing, I could not stop eating it. Our server wasn't real knowledgeable about where the seafood was from or the preparation. The place was clean and pretty quiet. It is just like the old Crab Shack restaurant. I thought the fried frog legs tasted like they were cooked in old oil. But it was my first experience having them, so maybe it was me. My partner had cajon fettuccine and really enjoyed it. Came in during Father's Day cause we had heard about the location opening up. Wow I'm so glad we came in! From the food to the service everything was great. The restaurant itself was clean and very cute. The kids loved the pirate theme. They also had a handwashing station which was super convenient. The bathrooms were also gorgeous and most of all clean! The wall tile is beautiful it made me feel like I was in a spa for a moment. L For food we opted to try the jumbo seafood platter since it had a bit of everything. We tried their new Cajun dizzle flavor and it was BOMB! The server explained it as a viet Cajun sauce So garlicky and tangy it was amazing. We also got their oysters and Cajun shrimp Alfredo. The oysters were superb and super fresh! And the Alfredo was great too definitely worth the risk as someone who's lactose intolerant lol. I ordered the 4 lb bag for take out for my mom's birthday. We had headless shrimp, mussels, and 2 orders of dungeness crab clusters. The bag also came with free sausage, corn, and boiled eggs.
