Had lunch here today since they were one of the few places open on a Sunday, which was nice. Despite what has been written in previous reviews, the lady that waited on me was not so friendly when I first arrived. She was kind of short and snippy when I told here I wanted to eat in and not take it to go. She warmed up and redeemed herself by the end of my visit. I ordered the lunch special Yu Shang Pork. The food came out piping hot and had clearly been made to order. All of the ingredients were fresh, but it was WAY too sweet. Like syrup sweet. I asked for some extra hot mustard, which helped a bit, but barely made it edible. The soup was good, the fried wonton and crab puff were pretty good too. The chicken eggroll I ordered was pretty dry and lacked flavor. I will try the veggie eggroll on a future visit. Finally, I had water to drink since they did not have any hot tea. I will certainly try again. I will be sure to pick something more familiar so that I can hopefully avoid the over sweet issue. read more

Amazing that it took us so long to find this place. It's a little hole in the wall in a strip mall. Plenty of convenient parking. You can sit and eat but I think most people take out. If you eat there it is styrofoam and plastic plates and utensils. The service is wonderful and they are so friendly. It's obvious as we sat there that they gave many loyal regulars. Food comes out quickly - and it's piping hot and very tasty. We started with hot and sour soup. The color was lighter than we were used too, but flavor, texture and spiciness were perfect. We had almond chicken and king pao chicken. Both were very good. We found our new Chinese food place. And I just want to reiterate that it's a BONUS to do business with nice people. It's a small business, they're not really busy when we came. so it was fast, they don't have a fountain drinks but they have bottles. the waiting time that we have was 15-20min it came out hot and fresh. The food was good and big portions serving one cup of rice every lunch specials you order comes with soap and crab puff. sadly there teriyaki chicken was not grilled, it's boiled but it's still good. they just give us too much sauce. the ambiance was good, they're not big restaurant so they only have like 4-5 tables available good for 5-6 people. read more

However, when I brought out of town guests to eat there the food was served on styrofoam plates by a fine server who was also the cashier. This was our first time trying Great Wok, and we're so glad we did! Having lived in the area for over 25 years, I can't believe we hadn't come sooner. The food was fantastic! If you are a native Ahwatukeeians, circa 1991ish, you'll remember Abacus Inn that was on Elliott and 48th in the Safeway plaza; Great Wok is comprobale to them and they were the bomb. We ordered 2 entrees, General Tso Chicken and Yu Shang Chicken. The woman who answered the phone was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. A great start. The food was ready quickly, great portions and served piping hot. The only knock on this place was that they only gave us one white rice for both entrées, would have preferred an order of rice each. But, the rice was good, steaming hot and lightly sticky. Both entrées tasted great, flavorful and clearly high-quality ingredients. Yu Shang chicken was sweet and spicy with lots of great vegetables and sauce. The General Tso chicken was also spicy and sweet with plenty of sauce, The chicken wasn't overly breaded, it was still somewhat crispy and was cut into bite-size pieces, which was nice. The broccoli was crispy although there wasn't enough of it. The portion sizes were great, we will both easily get a lunch out of our leftovers.
