This is the second best place for a taste of home ever since Hong Kong Dining on Rural and Ray closed down. Good for a cozy family meal and also bigger party with a 10-top. I like that there is no hidden menu and we can speak in Chinese fluently with the servers. They were all very accommodating and even recommended a dish to us to complement the other dishes we ordered. The sort of bummer is that there is no free dessert soup or fruit at the end of the meal, not even a choice to pay for dessert. The food here is amazing. It's so good that I have no pictures of any food from here because the first thing I can think of when the food comes out is to devour it before thinking of taking pics. My go-to dishes here: Fish Fillet with Tofu and Vine Pepper Sauce, Hand Ripped Spicy Cabbage, Chong Qing Spicy Chicken, Chicken with Hot Chili Oil, and lastly Water-Boiled Fish Fillet w.Preserved Vegetable (if I'm feeling soupy). Service here is mid. Don't expect much in that sense. That being said, I still go here a few times a month. After a whole day of shopping, we were starving, so we decided to stop by Green Tea Bistro, which isn't too far from the Premium Outlet. This place serves real Cantonese food, and it was just what we needed! We ordered the hot and sour soup, fish fillet with bean sauce, A-choy with garlic sauce, beef stew noodle soup, intestine with preserved vegetables, and pan-fried beef noodles. Everything was tasty and satisfying, though the pan-fried noodles were a little on the sweet side for me. Overall, the food was solid, the portions were good, and we left happy and full. Family favorite tucked into a little corner sort of the size of a small diner. The service is astronomically quicker than I could've ever expected and really don't bother you at all. Not sure how I feel about this place. I would say it's pretty authentic with its flavoring, like the sweet and sour and the orange flavor are somewhat bland in flavor but making things real sweet I think is more of an American concept. But I think I like the sweet more sweet because it also adds flavor. Don't get me wrong, the food was ok but the orange wasn't real orangy and the sweet and sour just didn't really pop. The egg drop soup was ok but again, it wasn't super flavorful. The egg rolls were pretty good. Like a lot of genuine Chinese restaurants that I've found, the service is kind of "matter of fact" not super friendly but not bad either, if that makes sense. I always feel like the people working in this type of, what I would say is, pretty authentic restaurants always seem to act like your up to something when in there or like maybe you're spying (which I kinda was to get my yelp pics, lol) but to be honest, I think it's mostly because there is a real language barrier. I think they do a pretty good job of communicating but that suspicious feeling probably comes from them just really trying to concentrate on what I am saying and I probably talk to fast to make it very easy. The restaurant seemed clean and it was nicely decorated and that's always a plus. Anyway, not a bad place, just not very "Americanized" if that's what you're looking for. So I ordered delivery from Green Tea Bistro last night and it was **chefs kiss gesture**. I wish I had taken photos, but I was tired and honestly did not expect to enjoy this new chinese takeout spot so much that it'd warrant a review and pics. I was wrong. I often use dishes like hot and sour soup and potstickers (aka dumplings) as a metric to measure Chinese spots, so I picked up a bowl of hot and sour and an order of potstickers (pan fried, though they also offer steamed). I also grabbed an egg roll and an order of Singapore Mei Fun noodles. My god... I was so impressed with that first sip of the hot and sour that I knew I was going to be beaching myself on the couch after eating. The soup was perfect. I think I've been chasing after recapturing the perfect bowl of hot and sour soup I used to enjoy so much (from an establishment called Wangs which no longer exists) my whole life since trying it... Green Tea Bistro's recipe reminded me of that first perfect bowl I ever tried. Lots of bamboo, lots of wood mushroom, regular (button) mushroom, delicious tofu, gelatinous but not gloopy broth and, of course, perfectly measured hot and sour elements. I know soups are not very high on a lot of people's lists, but sometimes people don't appreciate how those seemingly small things can be so complicated (construction and flavor-wise). It's dishes like soup that people often can take or leave that can illustrate just how dedicated an establishment is to their food. Anyway, I was so happy with that soup I wished I had ordered the large. They gave me enough fried won-tons that I could have (still snacking on those too, btw ^_^). The potstickers were delightful, as well. Chewy, hot, nicely fried to a crisp on the outside, greasy just the way they should be (enough to pan fry but not dripping and saturated), and with a delicious filling. I was dunking them in the little dipping sauce container with gusto (as much as one can when trying to retain some self respect by continuing to use my chopsticks rather than my fingers like a hungry little hippo). My only con was the eggroll was just fine. And even then, there was nothing ostensibly wrong with it, it was tasty and perfectly constructed and such. It just didn't surprise and delight me the way all the other dishes did. It didn't stand out I guess. But if I'd had some spicy mustard mixed in with my sweet and sour dipping sauce, I'm sure I'd have felt differently. Just needed a tiny little additional "oomph" of flavor, if that makes any sense. The singapore noodles..... yum yum yum. So good! I loved the bbq pork bits, the shrimp was made with care, the curry was just right, and each and every julienned vegetable sauteed in (2 different colors of bell pepper and onion) was oh-so-crisp and fresh. Service is terrible. We sat at our table for 15 minutes without greeting or water. Food took forever and came out slowly, one at a time with about 10 minutes in between. Then they added $23 in tip to my bill. We were the only table there but there were some to-go orders. The food itself was pretty good, just don't go there to eat in person. Do take out. Previously we ordered dry beef chow fun but I wasn't sure what it was on the online menu. It can be so hard to find! I remember it having good wok hay. All entrees came with white rice or brown rice. Egg fried rice is a $2 up charge. Kung pao chicken, $12.29: It's marked as spicy on their menu but it was not spicy at all. Less "spicy"than Panda Express lol. The sauce was a touch sour (which was odd) but not overpowering. This was my least favorite dish we ordered and I would skip it next time. Pepper steak, $12.99: Standard black pepper beef with bell peppers and onions. Saucy enough to pour on my rice. I would order it again in the future. Double Sauteed Pork with Cabbage, $11.79: Think thin slices of pork almost like bacon but chewier in texture. Cooked with cabbage, bell peppers, onions, green onions, and soy bean slices. Overall 3.5/5 stars Partner was craving Americanized Chinese food, so we tried Green Tea Bistro out. Upon looking at reviews, it looks like their more authentic Chinese dishes are recommended more, so we may return to try out their authentic dishes later. We do not think we would return for the American style Chinese food. The food was serviceable, but we're always looking for a replacement for our last go to place. Online ordering for takeout was a little disorganized with repeats of certain categories like "poultry." The menu items offered were different despite the same category labeling. Prices are on the higher side. Our order was ready 20 minutes early (we were told 30 minute wait time). The restaurant is located in a plaza with plenty of parking. I ordered the scallion pancakes and sesame chicken combo with fried rice and egg drop soup. My partner got the orange chicken combo with wonton soup. The scallion pancakes were probably my favorite out of everything I've ordered. They're actually the best scallion pancakes I've tried so far in AZ, but not necessarily the best I've ever had. Their fried rice is golden egg fried rice style where the egg coats each grain of rice to give it a beautiful golden color. It does not contain vegetables, meat, or small individual pieces of fried egg. Their sesame and orange chicken tastes standard. If it is something you are craving, you can't go wrong with it. Our egg drop soup and wonton soup were only filled 70% of the way in their containers and were very light and watery in flavor. My partner said their egg roll and crab puffs were okay. Overall Green Tea Bistro is rather average in flavor, but isn't bad if you want to feel comforted by Americanized Chinese food. For takeout, everything was packaged cleanly. The food wasn't overly greasy, heavy, or salty. We just weren't necessarily wowed enough to want to return for the American style Chinese food, but based off my feelings for their scallion pancakes, their more authentic Chinese does seem like it would be better. read more

I came here for a lunch with a friend. We ate inside and no one else was in the restaurant. We were greeted with friendly service and 3 menus. We got a traditional Chinese menu and a regular menu along with a drink menu with smoothies, teas, etc. Everything looked really good on the menu. I've been trying to find my favorites that I had back home in MN here in AZ so I had to order the egg drop wonton soup and triple delight. Both items really hit the mark. The wonton egg drop soup was a bit thicker than I'm used too although it was flavorful, full of egg and 4 wontons. I would have thought more wontons would have been added for that much soup. The large order is huge (not pictured). The triple delight had meet that was juicy and great quality, especially the shrimp. And I was able to get ir with broccoli and mushroom only. It was so good. Green Tea Bistro is one of our families go to places for Chinese food. Tucked in a Safeway shopping center, it's visible via street view with a private parking lot. They are great for groups as they have large round tables that can accommodate. And they have high chairs for those with families. They also have a second menu in Chinese if you can read it and are interested in more options. They are also helpful with recommendations too if you can't read the Chinese menu. We haven't gone here for dine in since Covid, but continued to order take out and even delivery (via third party delivery) on a regular basis. I really appreciate how they separate the sauce in some of the dishes when it's a to go order to avoid being soggy, for example with the sweet and sour chicken. My kids really enjoy the chicken low mein, won ton soup, and house fried rice. Those are our staple order items with one additional entry such as sweet and sour chicken (or shrimp) or Mongolian beef. First time I ate here we ate off the Chinese menu family style with 8 other people In a Mensa dining out group about 2 years ago. I would rate the overall food 4 stars. The fried squid and salt and pepper pork chops were not as good as some places I've been to. Furthermore, I was the only Asian participant, who knew what REAL Chinese food was, and got handicapped by some Mensans who wanted to order the usual American dishes that they were familiar with, so I convinced some to order their gringo food, separately, and not combine their dish with our shared family dishes. Second time I ate here with one of those Mensans, just to two of us. She ordered a noodle dish, and I ordered Boiled Fish Fillets and Preserved (pickled) Vegetables . That was soooooo good, I was obsessing about the flavor and generous amount of fish fillets, that all tasted even better, at home, with leftovers. The pickled flavor of the soup and the fish was a delightful combination. That was probably two years ago. I've been wanting to come back to eat, but one time I came with her and another lady, specifically to eat at Green Tea Bistro (we all lived in Scottsdale), and when we arrived at the door, there was a sign that said they were closed and on a long vacation in Asia. I had in mind to order the Water Boiled Fish Fillets with Preserved Vegetables that I so liked last time, but when I got to the restaurant, the servers told me their most popular dish was the Water Boiled Fish Fillet in Chili Oil $17.99, which I had many times in other Szechuan restaurants, and IT IS GOOD! So we ordered that, and IT WAS GOOD! 5 STARS! We also ordered Shredded Pork with Garlic Sauce, Tooth pick Lamb $15.99, and eggplant with garlic sauce. but later, the server came back and (I guess the cook told them) that the garlic sauce in the eggplant is the same as in the shredded pork, just to make us aware, did we want to make it different by ordering something less redundant. I thought it was very nice to bring that redundancy to our attention, and we ended up ordering sauteed string beans and minced pork. Well the Shredded Pork with Garlic Sauce and the Toothpick Lamb were tied for our second favorite dishes, and the string beans did not have much intense taste, which i HAVE HAD at other restaurants serving this very popular veggie dish. Other restaurants cooked it more "smokey" and more flavorful. So "C" or 3 stars for that veggie dish. I give 4 stars for the shredded pork dish because the 5 star one is nearby at Chendu restaurant at Alma School and Elliot, S.W corner. There it is called Shredded pork w/Bamboo Shoots, but they give you so much pork, you can't find the bamboo shoots. It has a dark sweet sauce, so delicious, I take it home and add more bamboo shoots, etc to stretch the pork. That Chendu dish gets 5 stars, and is my favorite dish on the menu there. At Green Tea, a lot of the dish is shredded bell peppers, bamboo shoots, onion, veggie fillers and far less pork. The Toothpick Lamb looked hard and dry when server brought it out to the table, but one bite, it was soft and flavorful, not at all like the jerky it looked like. 4 stars. Even the oolong tea was good. 4 stars. Service was at least 4 stars. He came several times to fill our teapot. Later, some other people came in to sit down at a table, but that was all on a Sunday afternoon. Next time I come back, I am gonna get that fish fillet with preserved vegetables, for sure. read more

This was my first authentic Chinese restaurant food I tried. My dear husband took me here for a dinner and it turned out to be one of my favorite places to go to. The restaurant has a neat seating arrangement and you are seated immediately. Whenever we went there were quite a few dining in there. There are two menus - one for the Americans and the other authentic Chinese menu. We mostly stick to three items- the chamomile tea, chilli lamb and water boiled fish with preserve veggies. The tea is really soothing and goes well with the food. Chilli lamb is a little spicy but has a unique taste and I just love it in here. My most favorite is the water boiled fish. I just love it with rice and can keep eating it all day long. Overall a great place for food, price is average and I can't wait to revisit this place. This is definitely on my rotation. read more
