Our friends have been on a mission to find the best Asian food in the East Valley for over the last year and discovered they were all basically the same until we found this restaurant. It is superior to the other places we have been! The 4 of us each ordered a separate dish to try and every dish was outstanding! We actually could not come up with any type of critique whatsoever. Who knew that Gilbert, AZ would be home to some of the most delicious Chinese food I've had in a while! This small spot may be unassuming from the outside, but they are cooking up delicious food. The environment is simple, but their menu is full of all the favorites. We were a party of 3 but couldn't help ourselves and ordered way too much food. The plates were gigantic and we had enough for a full second meal to take home. We stared with the crab cream cheese rangoons and they were very full of filling! We added on the kung pao chicken, sweet and sour chicken, honey walnut shrimp and noodles. The entrees came with a side of rice and we upgraded to the fried rice. Stopped in for a quick lunch on my way to the airport. There is a big parking lot and lots open seating. The dining area was moderately quiet and high back booths for privacy, as well as open tables. The hostess was very nice and told me about the portion sizing, as I was in the mood for some soup. I had a bowl of hot and sour soup and a bowl of egg flower soup. Was looking for nice Chinese restaurant to actually sit down at and came across Wild Ginger. As soon as we walked in the smell was amazing! We were seated right away. Service was 10/10. Started with Spicy Garlic Edamame which was amazing. Just the perfect amount of garlic and it was more on spicy side. There was two of us and we barely ate half of the portion. It was so much. For entrees we had the Orange Chicken and the Master Gees Chicken. The presentation and flavor were top notch. I am not sure which I enjoyed better. The orange chicken had an amazing flavor with a tint of orange it was so overwhelming that you find in a lot of places. Master Gees was more on the spicy side and had hints of black pepper. Maybe it was just a bad day, but after spending over $60 plus a $9 tip for take away that contained rancid food (pork egg rolls) and what looked like a string of cotton in the noddles, I'm not sure, we threw the food away. 5/17/25: Short version - Wild Ginger is a cute little place with tasty food, healthy servings, friendly staff (although we only met with the one woman), and colorful decor. Long version - This particular Saturday we arrived about an hour after opening and had the entire place to ourselves. A few people came in but only to pick up orders. The restaurant was spotless, well decorated, and the young gal who handled us was very friendly. All the dishes came out hot, and there was so much food, my leftovers fed me lunch for three workdays. The appetizer platter had a wide variety of items on it, crab rangoon being my fav. Although I don't like crab :-), I didn't really taste it because it had more cream cheese than crab, which was just the way I like it. Ha! The egg drop soup only had corn (most other places there are peas and carrots), and I wonder if they put too much yellow food coloring in it (?). It still tasted good, though, no complaints there. Two slight disappointments keep me from giving the 5-star rating. First, their Thai tea was a little weak, not so much in flavor but in consistency. It tasted more watery than milky, which I can only guess is attributed to the milk / creamer used. I like my tea creamier & sweeter, where WGAB's was thinner. Second, the cashew chicken needed more chicken and less celery. I know celery is cheap but there was waay too much in the dish -- and there was no water chestnuts. That was disappointing. My sister really enjoyed her butterscotch braised pork. I will say it had a very unique flavor to it, but it's not something I would order because it's too fatty for my liking. read more

I didn't want to be disappointed so I set the standard differently. I went in...expecting ok Mandarin food, what I received was well worth the anxiety of trying a new spot! $40.04 well spent on great food and very nice people working there( 2 people). I started with the lemongrass chicken, flavoring a little off from what I normally would enjoy. The lemongrass was a package, not fresh, can you taste the difference absolutely! Chicken moist and tender with lots of garlic, onions and lemongrass flavor. Honestly not the top of the list. But the Mongolian Beef tender juicy pieces of beef marinated in all the goodness top choice. They only have plates therefor if you want just the entrée unfortunately you can't. I was by myself and didn't want to order extra fried rice. Fried rice seasoned heavy on the soy sauce, delicious non the less! Absolutely no doubt this is a STAR in Gilbert rising up.. I did ask if the lemongrass was fresh or packaged. Looking for a new Chinese Food restaurant to try decided to place an order to go. We ordered the Mongolian beef, Master Gee chicken and the kids orange chicken meal. Mongolian beef - the texture of the beef was rubbery and weird. It had a very strong seafood taste. It was difficult to eat. Master Gee Chicken and Orange Chicken - were both ok but I probably wouldn't get it again. The fried rice was very bland and the egg drop soup was fine. Probably the best thing out of everything we ordered. It's a very run of the meal Chinese. I will say the lady at the counter was very friendly and my order was ready when I showed up. The main issue I have with Wild Ginger is that it's too far away from my home to be a regular destination. I have been there several times anyway and the food has always been excellent and the quantities always require a take out box. I particularly like their selection of noodle dishes. Cute, bright restaurant with a lovely server who was very helpful. We loved everything we ordered especially the shrimp egg foo young, it tends to be hit or miss and this place was definitely a hit. The patties were large and plump as were the shrimp, great texture and the gravy was also full of flavor. The walnut shrimp, a new favorite of mine, was so good, I loved the slightly sweet, creamy sauce and same juicy shrimp. I also really enjoyed the chili oil they brought out. We ordered Wild Ginger the other day because we were craving Chinese food and the menu and reviews sounded appealing. We ordered a wide array of dishes off of DoorDash. The food came relatively quickly and I was impressed that it was still hot. For Appetizers, we ordered Crab Rangoons & Crispy Roasted Pork. The Crab Rangoons were really good. It's hard to find "authentic" Crab Rangoon in Arizona but these came close. Crispy, sweet and stuffed with crab. The Crispy Roasted Pork was really fatty and not very flavorful. I would never get that again. For Entrees, we shared a bunch of different entrees. We got Wild Ginger Chicken, Sesame Chicken, Pad Thai, Curry Chicken, and Chicken Lo Mein with a cup of Wonton Soup. The Wild Ginger Chicken was really crispy and flavorful. I loved the contrast of the spiciness and sweetness. The Sesame Chicken was decent but I've definitely had better. The Pad Thai was strange because the noodles were pale yellow and had no sauce on them. They were surprisingly flavorful for being so dry but they could have used some sauce. The Curry Chicken was really bad. The chicken was full of gristle and fatty. We threw it out after a few bites because it was barely even edible. The Chicken in the Lo Mein was a bit better but the noodles tasted like old grease. The Wonton Soup was very bland. Overall, a mixed bag. I would not go back, at least in the near future. Definitely a bit underwhelming compared to most of these reviews. Also... 8 health code violations? read more

I have been to this place a couple times. It is my favorite place to go when I'm craving some food lo mein. During this visit, my boyfriend, daughter, and I ordered sesame chicken, bbq pork lo mein, and some potstickers. The food comes out really fast which is convenient when you're really hungry. The food is always fresh and pretty filling. It is served as share plates so you have to mutually agree in the food. But there is so many options. The place has never been crowded the times I have gone which is also nice but it means the place is quieter. This made it awkward when my toddler would outburst, so fair warning to other parents! My only complaint, and reason for the star drop, is that the staff can make you feel really rushed. My waitress basically brought out the check with our food which can be awkward when you're barely eating or if you wanted dessert.
