We came here on the recommendation of our hair stylist next door. She said that many of her customers love Happy Kitchen. We don't live close, but happed to be in the area so decided to give it a try. It was a "mixed" review for us. The place is cute and the gal helping us was friendly. We placed a large order to dine in so we would have plenty of leftovers. They brought out some eg drop to start (which we didn't expect). However, it was too gelatinous for us so we didn't each much of it. We started with the PuPu Platter. We loved the chicken on a stick and the honey chicken. The other items: egg rolls, fried shrimp and crab puffs were ok, but not exciting. We also ordered the Happy Family, Super Greens & Dragon & Phoenix (mix of Szechuan shimp and General Tso chicken. We are always on the hunt for the best General Tso chicken (the best we've found is in Reno). Happy Family was OK, but the pork was dry. Szechaun shrimp was pretty good but we had a ton of onions left over and the General Tso was about average; we didn't love the sauce. We did like that they used thigh meat for the chicken which made it moist. Our favorite was Super Greens (green beans, broccolli and zucchini). We would definitely order that again - maybe with the honey chicken or try the cashew chicken. read more

I got orange kitchen and we also got honey chicken - the servings were large enough we could easily get two meals out of them! I thought both dishes were very flavorful, and the orange and honey chicken weren't too sweet! I would only suggest a few more veggies with the orange chicken next time! Today for the first time I went there to eat lunch. Ordered Gen Tso's chicken off of their lunch menu. The portion size was okay, came with small bowl of soup, spring roll and I asked for fried rice. The chicken was deep fried and I asked the servers if this order can also be made with steamed chicken. She said that would be extra charge. Which, I thought was strange. I finished my meal and when she brought my check, I noticed that they had added an extra line item charge as 'Misc'. I paid my dues and walked out without asking about this misc charge or giving any tip. Overall the restaurant seemed to be nice and clean with pleasant decorum. I probably will not go back there just for extra charge and thats why I gave them 2 stars. read more

I have absolutely no negative things to say about this place. Great prices and lots of combo deals, great staff, amazing taste of food, quick wait times, kept very clean. Their online ordering makes for a fast, easy experience. Every time we have been here or have passed by it's always busy which is a good sign. We've been here twice now, ordered something different each time and I will say both experiences for food and good service were equally great. The food has amazing taste/flavor and the customer service makes it that much more worth it. I don't know the name of the lady up front (yet) but she was so sweet and helpful when ordering. Spectacular! The shrimp was plump and juicy! Cooked to perfection, I ordered the Kung Pao Shrimp! I love peanuts and it definitely did NOT leave me lacking! Their peanuts aren't those cheap half sized peanuts, they're the good fat, yummy, fresh peanuts - it's the little things that make all the difference! I got a drink to go. The fried rice didn't have any veggies in it, but my Kung Pao Shrimp was the ABSOLUTE BEST I've had in a while! Full of veggies AND water chestnuts too! What do people have against water chestnuts these days?? Usually they're soo small, you can't even see them! Don't you just love when you get those rough cut vegetables that didn't come out of a can??? The sauce was tasty and glistening, honestly - I could've just jumped right in there - it was gooooooodddddd!!! Egg roll, on point. Sweet and Sour sauce was thin, but flavorful and didn't seem like it would congeal into a jello! There's plenty of space and cute booths to enjoy with friends, and a good sized tv in case to need to catch up on sports lol (it was Sunday) Diner style booths, very comfortable! It was a very quiet, I prefer some noise honestly, so I asked the girl to turn on the tv. Just look at these shrimp!!! Omgeeee, give me more!!! I think I'm in love with this place! There's plenty of seating and I love that you can hear the people in the background cooking, the stirring of the wok and all the beautiful sounds from the kitchen. After reading such positive reviews, I was very disappointed with this restaurant. So I ordered a plate of Chicken with Yu Shan Sauce to go. Alas, there was no way to specify the level of spiciness. Regardless, the dish would have been more accurately labeled "Soy Sauce with Yu Shan Sauce," because it was drowned in sauce. Spiciness was the result of three hot chili peppers. While the chicken was decent, the serving of vegetables was sparse. Vegetables were mushy. All in all a total waste of money. I grew up in New York City and I have dined at the Chinatown there, and in San Francisco and other cities. I know what good Chinese food looks and tastes like. To contrast, I tried a similar dish at Ginger Zing in Mesad. The YuXiang chicken with similar ingredients was far superior. The chicken was tastier, and the liberal amount of vegetables were crunchy. The sauce was good, though I would have preferred to select one of the spicier options. It is something that I'd have again. Ditto for their Beef Chow Fun, which was as good as I had anywhere. read more

Portion size is great but that doesn't stop us from also getting the pu pu platter. Your food comes out hot and fresh pretty quickly. The ladies that run the front of house are very accommodating and always there to refill your drink or bring some sauce. They are so sweet and always have the best recommendations. I like the fact that they make a decent NY style chow mein. No other restaurant that I know around here makes it. But having said that, the white sauce is super garlicky. Way too much garlic. My friends ordered s/s chicken and orange chicken and they said it was awful. I didn't taste it so I can't say. The owners did comp my friend's check and brought out 2 different chicken meals but by then my friends were not wanting to eat their meals. I will say the service was very good. They were both 2 for 3.99 but we were charged for 2 individual egg rolls because we got 1 of each. I mentioned it and was told I had to order 2 of the same for that price even though they were priced the same. The egg rolls were small and had all cabbage and barely any pork or chicken, oh well we tried. The sweet and sour shrimp after the pineapple and onion was added to the carrots and sweet peppers, were good but the shrimps were small and all breading. I ended up,paying 30.00 for and order of sweet and sour shrimp, 2 cups of egg drop soup I think was not charged for, added pineapple and onion pieces, and substitute lo me in instead of rice. It was ok, but every little thing was 1, 2 , or 3 dollars more. We paid 31.00 with tip for 1 meal we shared. read more

Rarely leave reviews but had to. Grew up in New England and have never found a well rounded New York style Chinese restaurant that has a good menu with good tasting food, good price, and consistency. The pork fried rice is excellent. The pupu platter is very good. Chicken with broccoli is also excellent. Only thing I wish was that their chicken pieces (like the pieces in the orange chicken) were a little bigger but at least they have minimal batter on them. We order at least once a week. We didn't feel like cooking on a Monday and we decided to try Asian. We are also new to the area and this place had good reviews. It's very small in respect to seating but wowsa on the food. Yes it's pretty standard menu but the food came out piping hot and generous portions. Our servers were so friendly. I like supporting small businesses and I will be back to eat in or get a carry out. 6/23 Update: Still giving this tiny business high marks. My lady and I had been wanting to try Happy Kitchen and we finally did this past weekend. Celine (she was super friendly!) delivered our order to our place within 30 minutes and wow, was the food absolutely great! Our order was hot and fresh and consisted of Crab Puffs, Pan Fried Dumplings, Pork Eggrolls, Orange Chicken, Boneless Spareribs and Fried Rice. My lady enjoyed the freshly made Crab Puffs and we shared the super tasty Pan-Fried Dumplings which were my favorite.
