Favorite sizzling rice soup in the east valley. Love their menu and awesome customer service!

I had seen reviews and pictures about the garlic chicken and told my daughter about it so that is what we planned to order. I planned to place my order online and did not see the garlic chicken, just garlic shrimp. I was super disappointed. My daughter told me to just order whatever and I knew she had never had moo shu chicken and this is a dish I love so I decided to go with that. Needless to say, this restaurants moo shu chicken was not like any other moo shu I have ever had. I mean the crepe and plum sauce was the same but the chicken and veggies were different and not in a good way. The flavor was mild and the plum sauce that was spread on the crepe saved this dish. What was disappointing was they gave us one small condiment cup of plum sauce and it wasn't even filled to the top. It was enough for two crepes and we had 6 crepes and chicken and veggies to fill all the crepes. If the plum sauce was what saved this dish imagine my disappointment in not having enough plum sauce for the remaining crepes. They definitely need to give a larger portion of plum sauce. I have turned my daughter on to egg drop soup and she loves it from our usual Chinese restaurant so she wanted to try it here. This egg drop had corn and tofu (we think, but not sure) in it. It was very bland. She had to add soy sauce to it to spruce up the flavor. We always order wonton chips for egg drop soup and did this time too. Their wonton chips were bland as well. Lastly, we ordered crab puffs and the same wonton shells were used for the crab puffs. Just another item that was bland. If I could get the garlic chicken I would try this place again but since I can't I don't foresee us ordering from here again. We will drive a few miles down the street to get our favorite place. read more

Service was nice we ordered to go and waited inside. As shown in the photo the place settings were nice it was clean and our food was nice a hot didn't take too much time and was so good. I got vegetable lo mein, house chow mein, and order of the fried chicken skewers and BBQ ribs. All of it was delicious and worth a return visit to try other things. read more

Was greeted very warmly by the person at the desk-- walked in at around 730 on. Saturday and the place was completely empty. Anyways got the orange chicken, pan fried noodles with beef, and beef and broccoli. Orange chicken was overcooked and some pieces were burnt. Sauce was tasty however. Beer and broccoli was ok at best of course there was more broccoli than beef. What I really didn't like was their " pan fried noodles" dish. I basically got more beef and broccoli with some old looking semi-stale noodles that didn't look pan fried at all, maybe they were fried years ago. Not a fan of this place. read more

Alright place. Ordered a variety of dishes for dinner carry-out. The staff were friendly, if not a little bit confused. Young male cashier seemed to not know where his head was. Interior seems drab and musty, but not the worst dining room I've ever seen. Food was a mixed bag. Crab Puffs were 90% wrapper, very little crab. Pineapple Chicken was nice and crispy, good sauce if not a bit gloppy. Garlic Chicken was okay but came with no vegatables, and it comes fried so it tastes more like General Tso's than Garlic. Moo Shu Pork was fine but not the best we've had. Would I get it again? Maybe, since it's under a mile from our current home. read more

I ordered Sichuan beef several months ago and was very disappointed. The beef was in very large chunks, and the sauce was watery and bland. Definitely not Sichuan. Yesterday, I ordered garlic shrimp with vegetables. There was plenty of shrimp, but the light breading had completely dissolved in the watery sauce, and the vegetables were completely raw. It seems like the cook hadn't used corn starch in either dish. I am wondering if there is a new owner who isn't very familiar with Chinese cooking. Sorry, that's the last time I try to give Hong King Kitchen a chance. P.S., I have noticed that older reviews are, for the most part, positive. That was my experience in the past. I ordered regularly from Hong Kong Kitchen and was generally pleased. The negative reviews begin in early 2025. Something has changed at the restaurant. read more

This has been our go to Chinese restaurant since moving to AZ in 2012. Sadly, quality had regressed,portion reduced and price has Increased. Honey Walnut Shrimp with Mayo has now been reduced to low quality shrimp with no more any kind of nuts and barely any mayo flavor. It's no longer worth the 15m drive to pickup our take-out order. Wish the owners luck as it is a tough business environment these days. read more

To start this, we are transplants from the NY/NJ/PA area. In our quest for finding some comfort food we are continually searching for chow mein like you get at any Chinese restaurant back east. We have been trying for the last two years and are still looking. Our latest quest search took us to Hong Kong Kitchen II. Well the hot and sour soup hit the spot. My tong was nicely anesthetized by the end of the cup. It was very tasty. The wonton soup had vegetables in it which was a first. The wonton wasn't that good but the broth was tasty. The egg rolls were delicious. They come in an order of two. The pork fried rice tasted a bit on the old side. The Hunan shrimp had a great flavor and delicious veggies. The shrimp we just okay - not super fresh tasting. The pork chow mein came with a ton of crispy noodles on top. The noodles were crispy, the pork was disappointingly fatty and dry, veggies were cooked nicely, and the sauce was okay but not as tasty as it could have been. The freshest item we had were the fortune cookies The quest for a hood chow mein dish continues. read more

Portion size was good but wished food was better. Egg rolls were tasteless and somehow soggy and crispy at the same time. Orange chicken and General Tso chicken were also lacking in flavor. Chicken & broccoli was in a bland white sauce not the brown I expected. Roast pork and veggies was the best of what we had. Fried rice was literally just rice...no egg or veggie flavorings at all. Coming from NY I'm still in search of excellent Chinese take out. Probably would not order from here again. And seemed way too expensive! read more

Hands down my FAVORITE Chinese restaurant. The staff has been running this place for years and always greets me when I come in. My favorite fried rice, crispy teriyaki chicken, orange chicken, sweet and sticky ribs, beef and broccoli and delicious appetizers. Been coming to Hong Kong Kitchen for as longgg as I can remember! My dad used to pick up take out and bring it home for us and it was fresh everytime. I remember during COVID the owners gave my family free toilet paper haha. read more

Took our family last night and had a great experience! The service was fast and friendly and the food was amazing! We ordered Mongolian Beef, Hunan Beef, Kung Pow Chicken and Chicken Lo Mein. The Mongolian Beef had a deliciously spicy sauce and lots of beef with hardly any fillers! The Hunan Beef was delectably savory and also loaded with beef! Highly recommend! The ambiance was peaceful and old school Chinese bistro with everything you'd expect from a great Chinese restaurant! Portion sizes were amazing and enough to get full and bring home leftovers! We have frequented this place since about 2019. They have the best orange chicken and kung pap chicken. Their crab puffs are also a great app to get. Today we got the sliced bbq pork app and it was great as well, nicely seasoned. We have always purchased an order for pick up however they do have tables and seating. Usually your order is ready in 15-25 minutes. They have a few spaces for parking so no need to worry there. read more

We buy food from this spot regularly. Our favorites are the steam pot stickers, pork fried rice and sweet & sour chicken with sauce on the side. The Shrimp Egg rolls are great too. Chinese food is a personal choice on flavor and style. We enjoy this spot and recommend everyone to try it out. We have eaten at the restaurant once and service was great and place was clean and felt like a typical Chinese restaurant. Plenty of room for the family and kept our drinks full without asking for refills. Most of the time its take-out. I placed an order to go for almond chicken and fried rice. I asked if the chicken was fried as I like it fried. I was told it's not but then she asked me if I would like it fried. I said yes. The order was ready in less than 10 minutes, fresh and hot. It was the best almond fried chicken that I have had in years. Thank you for being so accommodating. Great place to eat. I love Hong Kong Kitchen! It is always 10/10 solid food when it comes to Chinese. The service is great, the pick up times are always very reasonable. I love the options and they can adjust to meet your allergy needs. We order the shrimp fried rice, wonton soup, orange chicken, noodles, and beef with broccoli. This food was not good at all. I ordered 4 items and it came out to over $60!!!. The chicken was nothing but gristle and had to spit out almost every bite. It was inedible. The garlic sauce tasted good, its just a shame the chicken itself has the consistency of leather. The Crab puffs literally tasted like they have been under a warmer for 2-3 days....absolutely no crisp, ice cold, and rubbery. Thankfully the fried rice was hot and fresh and tasted great, so out of the entire meal, that's all we were able to eat. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this restaurant at all. I will just have to stick with Pei Wei and Panda Express because not only are they WAY cheaper, they are WAY better quality. read more

We got the garlic chicken and orange chicken and fried rice about 30 minutes before closing. The fried rice was different than other fried rice we've had. It kinda looked like white rice with soy sauce in it and nothing else. Very dark colored, but bland without flavor and chunks of uncolored white rice in it. I didn't really like it, and looking at other reviews I actually wonder if it was just end of the night soy sauced rice or something. Can't imagine all the people raving about how yummy it is that we got the same thing. That said, my husband still liked it okay. We both enjoyed the chicken entrees--flavors were yummy! I probably liked the garlic chicken a little more, because some bites of the orange chicken had a weird texture. The food was really hot and ready fast! We ordered a lot of food and only one item was enjoyable. The chicken egg rolls, the crab appetizer, spring rolls, pot stickers and Mongolian beef and noodles were all very bland. The beef was bland but also spicy. There was an appetizer with cream cheese that was good but the sweet and sour sauce and the dipping sauce for the pot stickers were also very bland. The only problem with Hong Kong Kitchen is that it's so good, you will simply never be able to enjoy most other "normal" Chinese food/restaurants after eating here! You can see and taste the difference between inauthentic corporate places that cut corners and use MSG and cheap ingredients and Hong Kong Kitchen, which is family owned and operated from front to back by three generations of Chinese-Americans who have lived in the community for 20+ years. Gramma walks to the restaurant every morning to chop fresh vegetables and start preparing the rice for the day. Nothing, fancy, but just your traditional Chinese dishes and appetizers prepared hot and fresh to order with love and precision. I really noticed the difference when I ordered egg rolls, fried rice and Mongolian Beef from two different restaurants in Phoenix and was so disappointed and realized how much higher my expectations had become after eating at Hong Kong Kitchen! read more

Very solid food, have never been disappointed. Not that its thrilling, just good, solid food. We like to eat lunch combos and this is like 'all the others': they insist on including crab puffs and sprig rolls in the combos. We don't like either of them, and am stunned that they don't allow substitutions/upgrades to these items. i'd be happy to pay an up-charge for a real egg roll, but the only option allowed for spring rolls is to keep the spring roll and buy a separate item, which seems wasteful.
