The best place for Hong Kong-style roast meats, hands down. I've been coming here for over a decade and the quality is almost always consistent -- and the recent switch from cabbage to bok choy on the side has made the roast meat plates even better. They even offer a variety of dipping sauces when dining in now. During my latest visit, we ordered roast pork and roast duck rice plates. Both had wonderfully crispy skin and tasted fresh. I love that the duck here is never too gamey or salty like at other locations. I also love the soup! The west lake beef soup was the right level of thickness, with a solid amount of meat and mushrooms. It's perfect with white pepper added from the table. Bingo! Yahtzee! Having spent much time in Hong Kong I'm always on the hunt for Hong Kong-style eateries like Kam Po Kitchen in San Francisco or May May Hong Kong in Seattle-Tacoma area. Best Hong Kong Dining scratched my partner's and my itch. We ordered Chicken in black bean sauce, orange chicken, green beans with minced pork and House Fried rice. All was great, plentiful and nicely priced, especially when compared to San Francisco and Seattle. Our server was attentive, accommodating and served all with a smile. Took my mom here tonight as she is visiting from the East Coast and she enjoyed our dinner! My mom is an excellent cook, so she's a pretty picky eater because she makes most dishes better than most restaurants, so to have my mom say this place was good is a pretty high accolade. Tonight we had very authentic Cantonese dishes and you have to know what regional foods to order to get the most of your experience. Analogous to the US is that you would go to Texas or Tennessee for BBQ and NYC for pizza and bagels and the Southwest for good Mexican. Same philosophy with Chinese food. My mother likes duck, I will eat it only occasionally with her. We ordered a half roasted duck, my mom enjoyed but did mention it was a bit wetter than she liked. It was moist and had a good flavor is my critique. We also ordered beef chow fun and also a seafood hot pot. Seafood hot pot was delicious and very good! Lots of seafood and veggies and my mom and I both really liked this dish. Beef chow fun unfortunately was a let down, it lacked flavor and wasnt salty or tasty enough for me. There were a few workers there and not many patrons. I went to the register and waited. Eventually, a lady employee came up to me and I was able to get my take out order from her. The food tastes alright. I think it doesn't taste unusual. No exotic sauces or flavors. Everything seems to be cooked fine. The noodles are not overdone. The broccoli is cooked fine as well. I dined in today, usually I just pick up their roast duck and porks togo, but everything was very yummy. I ordered the hot and sour soup, beef chow fun, and the pork chop with seasoned salt. I loved the soup - it was so delicious. The pork chop was light, crispy, and flavorful. The beef chow fun was good as well; a bit on the oily side, but still very tasty. Just a heads-up: rice isn't included with the dishes, so you'll need to order it separately. Service was quick. I went around 3 PM and the place was empty, so I was seated right away. They took our orders promptly, and the food came out within 10 minutes. The servers were very nice one of them even poured our soup into small bowls for us, which was a thoughtful touch. Hands down the best pot stickers I have found in Phoenix! I was surprised by how filling they were. My husband and I had never had Peking Duck before, so we choose here for the new experience. Love the bbq pork slices, they were very classic Hong Kong style bbq pork, tender and juicy, but maybe someone who loves fatty meat might not like it, it's more on the lean side. House special pan friend chow mein - this is one of my favorite dish growing up and it is now my daughter's favorite too! The noodles are crispy and soft with the sauce on top. The house special has seafood in there (shrimp and squid). Must try! 4. Peking pork chop - explosion of saucy flavor! 5. Black pepper beef - meat is soft and sauce is delicious! Not as spicy as some people would think due to the name being black pepper. It is well balanced! 6. Fresh tilapia - always excited when they have fresh tilapia in their fish tank! It's steamed and so good! The green onions on top goes well with the fish. 7. Red bean sauce with fish filet - another great fish to try. The sauce combined with the fish is delightful! There are a few really authentic Chinese restaurants in the valley and fortunately I found another one of them - this one. The dining area is spacious with an old-school Chinese restaurant look, service is very friendly, and the menu lists a wide variety of offerings. On two visits with friends, I was able to try the Chinese beef stew, fried tofu, bok choy with black mushrooms, egg foo young, bean shoots with straw mushrooms, and a fried fish dish that was a Chinese New Year special. All were very good, with authentic Cantonese flavors you would not experience with Americanized Chinese food. Prices are good, given the quality and quantity of the food. Food was mediocre at best. I got beef and broccoli which had little to no sauce and very bland flavoring. My friend got hunan? Beef which is typically spicy and this had more flavor than mine however not spicy at all. We had asked for spicy sauce and they gave us chili oil that tasted 3 weeks old. We were sat next to the fish tank and we had to tell the waitress they had 3 dead fish in there pretty gross. I also watched a service guy take an entire cut open pig and while walking the space is so small it hit the wall that is honestly disgusting and not safe food handling. Service was like a waitress being sat 10x in 3 seconds so obviously lacking. Was invited to dinner by a friend who hosted a lot of competitors in a local competition. At first look it seemed like a small restaurant with a few customers. As we walked in, I saw the roast duck in the glass display. The dining room was very clean, the tables were neat and had a well stocked lazy susan in the center. The group had three large tables and one more for the over flow. Must have had 50 people attending this dinner. First came the shrimp fried rice. Full of flavor and didn't have to add anything. The crispy roast pork was done very well with the tender meat and crispy skin. Honey walnut shrimp was tasty, noodles with beef was excellent, the red pork was nice and the bok choy with mushrooms were perfectly done. We ordered a whole pig for lunar new year. It was supposed to be the center of attention, but ended up being the wrong kind of attention. Roasted pork is supposed to be crispy and crunchy. It was neither. It was so chewy no one was able to eat the skin and the meat had an off putting smell. This cost $500+ and most of it went to trash cuz no one wanted to eat it. Just terrible. While the atmosphere of the restaurant is a bit on the older and worn side, the food is anything but that. A wonderful diverse menu loaded with outstanding dishes. The kitchen is more than willing to make dishes to your liking, and while they will make dishes spicy if you like, they will also allow you to bring in your own Szechuan pepper corns and cook dishes with them if you wish. I brought my own to the restaurant and had them make Ma Po Tofu with them. It was amazing flavor. I love their roast duck and their roast pork is wonderful. So I decided to try their roast & bbq meat items, so I ordered their 1/2 roasted duck, roast pork, bbq pork & bbq ribs for to go. Everything was well seasoned and cooked to perfection. The wait time was very long with no acknowledgment to the crowd of people standing in line. A group of 10 walked in and was seated before us. Eventually we were sat down but then forgotten about. At some point a server came to ask if we were ready and although we responded yes she immediately walked away without taking our order and did not return. Another 15 minutes had passed by and we were becoming impatient so we pulled a server to the side and ask if we could order, it had been over an hour at this point. Food was bland, server forgot to put in our order for soup, and it was a little more expensive than anticipated but you do get a decent amount of food. Decided we wouldn't mind not returning for the amount of money that was spent. Also, about an hour after eating all our tummies began to hurt and got the bubble guts. read more

TLDR; hole in the wall traditional Cantonese stuff While it may not look like much from the outside, they have some pretty great food. The plastic chairs with the metal frames and the tables with the lazy susans are pretty nostalgic even if the interior isn't the prettiest. The BBQ pork and char siu was super rich and flavorful, and since we came on a Saturday morning, the meat had just been cooked. Their congee was nicely flavored and the texture was also good. Their beef chow fun was on the greasy side, but it had bean sprouts and they were generous with the beef. The mapo tofu and yuotiao (I apologize for my lack of pinyin skills) weren't the best, but it was definitely edible. The fried rice was okay, but I wouldn't get it because it's something you can easily make at home. Our server was really nice and gave us containers that perfectly fit our leftovers. read more

By far the best Chinese restaurant we've found so far. Our daughter had practice in the area and we wanted to pick up Chinese food to celebrate the New Year. I called in an order and woman told me 30min. We arrived before pick up time just to make sure we would pick our daughter up on time. Anyway, the place was filled and the woman at the counter told me it was because of Chinese New Year which I figured. She was definitely handling her business! She was answering phones, putting orders together, taking payments and seating people. She was definitely doing a great job, not looking stressed at all. She kept looking at the clock to make sure orders were ready at time she quoted. She was triple checking orders that when we left I asked my husband if he seen if she had a certain item. He told me there was no doubt that he had that she did it right. I agreed and then we went home. We enjoyed everything! The beef broccoli over Hong Kong noodles were delicious, the honey walnut shrimp was filled, my girls loved the pot stickers, but the star of show was the roast pork and bbq pork combination. Best Hong King Dining place in AZ! Been coming here for roughly 20 years and the quality has not changed! Since I was a little kid, I always loved the duck and after trying various places across multiple states, I can still say the duck here is the best. The flavors from the duck are unmatched and the plum sauce they serve on the side is a perfect match. Most of their other items on the menu are equally as great!
