Pretty disappointed in our last several experiences it seems like for at least the last three times. I've ordered food to go. The quality and accuracy has declined. The first time we dined there we commented how large the portions were and how large the vegetables in the portions were. The last three times orders have been mixed up on the spiciness as well as extra protein. We usually order extra protein with one or two of the three dishes we order. The last time we ordered, it seemed like the container was not even 2/3 full when it used to be nearly overflowing. Additionally, they substituted some weird small round eggplant that was barely cooked for their usual soft, large pieces of eggplant. Another time I ordered the eggplant and there was literally only four pieces of eggplant in the entire container. We also got the crab wontons this time, and they were crispy, flavorful, and gone in seconds. The service is just as impressive as the food. When I walked in to pick up my order, I decided last minute to add a dish for my kids. I told them I was totally fine waiting and that they didn't need to rush--it was my fault for the late request. But in a wonderful surprise, the staff had one of those dishes already made for another takeout order. Since that customer hadn't arrived yet, she kindly gave me that one fresh and immediately started making a new one for the other person. It was so considerate and thoughtful, and just a great example of the amazing customer service they always deliver. The portions were very large, though! We tried the spring rolls, shrimp pineapple fried rice, and the pad Thai. None of the dishes were spicy at all. Neither the rice nor the pad Thai had any sauce on it. Both entrees were pretty dry. The pad Thai didn't have much flavor and the chicken was slightly over cooked. Decent Thai food, but the service was really slow. We had a reservation and got seated around 7 PM, but there was only one waitress! Because of this, we didn't get any food until 8 PM. A whole hour later. They close at 8 PM too, so we were really shocked. On the contrary, food was not bad. Nothing crazy unique. I tried the Tom Kha, which is a coconut soup. Lots of flavor, huge portions, creamy, and it's more on the sweet side. Not as sour as I normally like it though. The red curry is good! Rich and creamy curry flavor and packed with veggies. The Food is really tasty, the Panang Curry was delicious(although there were huge chunks of onion that really need to be chopped smaller, in fact there was way too much onion), the Beef Pad See Ew was solid, Chicken Fried Rice was good and the fried pot stickers were great. 4 stars for the awkward dining setup, we were from the other side of the valley so we couldn't do a to go order, so we elected to dine in. The spicy levels range from 1-5, so there is spiciness for every pallet. The staff members are nice, helpful, and quick to serve. I will note that on tonight's particular order, we were highly disappointed to get home and discover they've decided to start dying their sticky rice green. Our neighbors recommended this restaurant, so we got carry out and I was immediately impressed with the quality of the food. It was hot & fresh. I had the Pineapple Fried Rice, it was delicious! I'm also particular about my chicken and shrimp, both were so good! I don't eat over the top spicy food, the 1 was perfect. Flavorful, had heat but didn't burn my mouth. I loved how the pineapple complimented the heat of the dish without making it sweet. The portions are huge! I was able to make 4 meals out of it, I never eat leftovers so the fact that I ate leftovers 3 times definitely says something. We joked around with the table next to us that this is the "Live and Learn restaurant" because virtually everyone around us complained about their level of spiciness. My mom and I both got the Green Curry and love spicy foods (the type to enjoy Sriracha ya know? But not "Diablo sauce" or any of that crazy stuff). We would have both ordered a 3 on the spicy scale had we not heard the couple across from us complain about how hot it was. One man said it was simply inedible for him and the waiter had to comp the check. So we got 2s, thinking they would be better. It was still so spicy that both our mouths were really burning and had trouble enjoying it. I drank 2 glasses of water and 3 cups of tea during my meal. Our server did not warn anyone around us about how spicy the food truly is. When people complained, he did acknowledge it was very spicy, but he should at least warn people in the first place that hey, this is off the charts and if you can't handle biting into a raw Jalapeño you should probably get a 1. When we came in there was a large group of people in front of us so I am not going to comment about the wait time. With a group of 25 people next to us ordering a mountain of food, they got it out to us in 30 min. Which still isn't that bad all things considered. Then why am I giving this a 4 you might ask...? Because the ambiance is beautiful, this *is* real quality Thai food and with its freshness it does not deserve a 3 star. But something needs to be done about making their customer base aware that Thai food can be very spicy. We always get food at this restaurant. We order coconut soup, a curry, and we are so excited tonight the Mango Sticky Rice is back in season. We ordered and then sat to eat here, imagine our surprise when the sticky rice is GREEN. We asked the worker up front why it was green and he said it was dyed with pandan. Food: Everything was so, so sweet, to a point where we could not continue eating even though we were still hungry.. Ordered: Tomyum soup with fish - tilapia fish used. Nothing special but was $17. Soup was so sweet. Can't even remember anything else. Served in a large square bowl rather than the typical hotpot to keep it hot. Pineapple fried rice - doesn't taste much of pineapple. Flavor was good except again, SO SWEET. Drunken noodle - had some wok hei and not too salty but again, SO SWEET! Some noodles weren't even separated prior to stir frying, so they stuck together and had no sauce on them. Onions were so chunky. Green curry with tofu - tofu was good! Fried outside and soft inside. Flavor was not bad but again... SO freaking sweet! Chicken larb salad - ok this one doesn't taste anything Thai. Tasted like an amateur homecooked ground chicken with soy sauce. It lacked lime juice, fish sauce, chili, etc. that should've been in this dish. Service: Waitresses were nice and respectful but maybe one of them was new, the service was very slow. We sat down for 5-10 mins, then we got water after we ordered. Food took 30-40 mins to get out. Ambiance: The place had some mixed culture decors - some of Thai fabrics over the tables and walls which was nice. They used an artificial green/plant wall to block off the back side for cleaning (I assume). Overall, not the most intuitive but acceptable interior and dining environment. Will we ever return again? Unfortunately not. Their food is definitely more tailored to local tastes rather than keeping their true authentic flavors. That's ok! The waiter warned him it would be pretty spicy and we should have listened! I thought level 2 was spicy, a slow burn... but with level 3, I could only eat a few bites before I had to stop. We tried Reign of Thai for the first time tonight and were blown away specifically by the Pad See Ew and the Potstickers. Everything really sounded delish, so me and my friend ended up ordering way too much. We had the Tom Ka soup and spring rolls with shrimp. Then fried rice and glass noodles with chicken. Everything was wonderful and everything we didn't eat there we took home and finished later. They warn you, their base level of spice is a level above other restaurants.
