If you can accept this as a small, historic, open for 75 yrs, burger shop in downtown Phoenix you shouldn't come away disappointed. This place is so delicious and the prices are amazing. I can't believe a 1/4lb burger is only 7.99 WITH FRIES. I also got a chocolate malt and it's thick and perfect. The fries were perfect. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. McDonald's could honestly never. This is like the best burger joint I've ever been too. The inside is a little small so I wouldn't bring a ton of people due to the space. The burger was amazing. Not burnt and it's was juicy and the vegetables weren't old. They were fresh veggies. Second time here. Giving it a 4 because of the shake and fries. The shake was again perfect (chocolate and peanut butter) and the fries were hot and crispy. The burger was meh. The bun was not warm and with all the toppings, which made the burger lukewarm too fast. Plus they still don't have cheddar. The customer service was subpar, although the owner did let me go back in the kitchen and wash my hands since they don't have a restroom. If I come back, it would be to get another shake, but probably not for the burger. read more

I heard about this place so many times. Finally in the area I had to check it out while I was in the area and they did not disappoint. Everything was fresh off the grill nice and hot. I got a quarter pound thousand island burger with cheese and bacon. On it it has Lettuce onions I got no pickles or tomatoes. I did come with double patties man. This thing was as fresh as I could get. The fries were fresh, nice and hot. Unfortunately I was in the drive-through so I wouldn't have any info on the inside, but it is a small little place. Total reasonably priced the staff. There was good polite and I would highly recommend this if you feel like a good cheap quality burger old school style. This is a place. Imagine a classic, but perfect burger joint in your favorite movie.... That's essentially this place. There's something about this place to that just takes you back to the good ole days. The people maybe, the food, the design? Or probably a combination of everything. This is one of the most affordable and delicious burger joints I've been to in a while. We got the lucky burgers with mustard and ketchup, bbq, and ranch one. All were amazing, tasted homemade and cooked to perfection. Boom! 5 stars. No question. Why can't other burger joints get a burger right? The bun is too hard, or the meat is frozen, or the condiments are vinegary, or the cheese is cheap, or the sauce is from a restaurant supply bottle, or the vegetables are limp, or a thousand other things. Lucky Boy has got it right and it's such a pleasure. I've learned that a hamburger is the perfect meal, and this version is one of the best of the best. What matters here is the owners CARE. They are there, at the restaurant (instead of relying on a pimpled 17-year old to run things) and they care about their food. And the fact that this place has existed continuously since the 1950s should tell you something. This is not a corporate burger joint. This is all about freshness and real ingredients and hand-made sauces and caring about your food. And that makes this one of my top-3 burger joints in the western United States (I'm a pilot so I go everywhere and try hamburgers). Here is why: 1. The patty. It's a sirloin patty and fresh as a daisy. It's grilled to absolute perfection and not smashed so the juices run out. So instead of a dry, grey, meat-puck, you get a super-moist, perfectly cooked patty with a meaty, fresh flavor. 2. The sauce. Burgers are made by the sauce. Period. Crappy burger sauce=crappy burger. These guys make it themselves! Their thousand and their ranch are simply to die for. 3. Fries and onion rings- I think they cook them In peanut oil or tallow because they are that good. I do t get that truck-lubricant aftertaste of canola oil. And these guys change their oil regularly which is super rare. The result is you get these beautifully "blonde" fries and onion rings that are crisp and never taste like burnt chemicals. 4. Fried zucchini- I've tried it all across the United States, and this is some of the best fried zucchini I've ever had. One reason is the hand-made ranch dressing. Another is how it's cooked, for how long, and in what kind of oil. The end result is a hot, crispy, perfectly breaded zucchini dipped in a cool, herby, buttermilk-y ranch dipping sauce. Mmmmmmmm. It's heavenly. Yeah the shakes are good too, but I think you can't go wrong with the burgers. This is a classic burger grill like you'd find in 1950s America when burgers ruled the highways and cars were the keys to freedom. Don't expect some gourmet-ish burger with truffle oil and shiitake mushrooms. This is a burger the way God meant it. And, with absolute respect and reverence, if He were here, He'd eat at Lucky Boy. Only one thing (not so okay) they have NO public restroom! There are a fair amount of homeless in that area so I'm sure they don't want them hanging around. What a delicious burger! I used to go here back when I was a kid with my dad. I didn't know they were open., I walked in with my wife and kids on Saturday. The place was clean and Service was on point. We were able to order three burgers, three drinks and one banana shake all which were exceptionally delicious. Food is ok, service is ok, rules and payment is shit. First and last impression of this place has got me going elsewhere permanently. Dude at the counter charged me a dollar extra for using a card, so instead of $17.36 he charged me $18.36 for a 1/4 lb burger small fries and a shake. Not to mention they also have no restrooms for their customers that's a huge fail. I go use the restroom next door at circle k and come back with a drink, the same guy at counter taking the order says oh yeah and just for your information there's no outside drinks allowed so next time you know but I'm going to let it slide this time lol like really you just got me for an extra dollar and have no restrooms and charged me an arm and a leg for a burger and fries that shits wild my guy, y'all gotta do better. I'm so lucky to have tried this place. If you're in town make a stop here for some good luck. It's small but there's a good amount of inside seating. On top of that the two guys running it are super friendly and on top of things.
