Amazing! Great value for the amount of food! Everything had amazing flavor! Easy order and sit down and the team brought out the food. Space is small but outdoor seating helps! Fast casual space for food. Green chili tamale 100/10 My only feedback is for myself that next time I should get a sweet Frybread! Will be back!

Spoiler Alert! I heard about the Fry Bread House on an episode of Guy's Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives a few years ago and I have been dying to try it ever since. I begged my executive chef to come try it while he was in the area visiting family, and then we heard our conference would be on the Phoenix area this year I was thrilled, after years of anticipation - it was finally my turn to try it! We arrived in the afternoon, and they wrre BUSY! We grabbed a table when it opened up and looked at the menu to decide what we wanted. As we were making some tough decisions, a women & her grandma joined us at our table - they were so sweet and made other food suggestions for us while we were in the area. We place our order and chatted with our are friends while we waited. The food was brought out quickly and MY GOD that thing is HUGE! It was as big as the plate! It was delicious & so filling. We split a dessert fry bread that was delicious - so good I wanted more even tho there was NO room left. This place is such a gem! We loved it so much we plan on stopping in again before we fly home!

Fry Bread House in Phoenix, Arizona, offers a delightful and unique dining experience with its delicious and innovative Native American cuisine. My manager, who highly recommended this place, was thrilled to introduce it to me. It's a popular spot among locals and even featured on Guy Fieri's TV show, "Diner's, Drive-Ins and Dives." The restaurant attracts a steady stream of customers eager to savor its fun and creative Native American dishes. Frye Bread holds a special place in culinary history as the first Native American restaurant in the United States to receive the prestigious James Beard Foundation's "America's Classics" award in 2012. Their signature Fry Bread is incredibly chewy and flavorful. During my visit, I joined my coworkers, manager, and a few friends for lunch. One of the unique features of Frye Bread is its outdoor mini farmers market, where native American vendors sell jewelry, cultural gifts, and all things Native American. It was a great opportunity to immerse myself in the local culture and experience one of the restaurant's beloved dishes. While Frye Bread offers a variety of savory protein options to accompany their Fry Bread, I personally preferred mine simply drizzled with butter and powdered sugar. The combination of flavors was simply irresistible. Frye Bread is a must-visit destination for anyone seeking an authentic and flavorful Native American dining experience. The restaurant's commitment to preserving and showcasing Native American culture, combined with its delectable Fry Bread and batter, makes it a memorable dining experience.

Outside seating in the shade with our pup under the table. One native and one red chile beef taco for lunch. Only had to drive 750 miles for lunch. Totally worth it! Fry bread was warm and soft with mild red chile beef plus lettuce and tomato. Seriously one of the best taste sensations on this giant blue ball we live on. Don't get to Phoenix too often but Fry Bread House is and always will be a must visit. If it wasn't so solar flare hot here we might visit more often. Order online or at the counter, dine inside or out. Inside is a mosh pit of servers, dine in and take away folks, dashers, bicycles (really go see for yourself) and wall art. T-shirts too. Got one this visit. Show your colors old man, yeah. Small parking lot and street parking. Shady seating for you and your pup. Enjoy!

We liked the green chili ultimate taco. The fry bread was really good warm and chewy. Never had anything like it before. It's a huge portion so I would just order 1 taco per adult person. You order at the counter and they bring food to your table. Service is very friendly. Indoor seating is limited but they have outdoor seating. Overall a good place to swing by for lunch or visiting Arizona.

The Fry Bread House is an unassuming restaurant in Central Phoenix that surged in popularity after receiving its well deserved James Beard award and appearing on the Food Networks Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. They serve a few different tacos in their delicious, fluffy Fry bread. If you're a saucy girl like me, I recommend ordering one with either the green or red "chili" in your taco. I ordered the Ultimate Taco with red chicken chili with salsa verde on the side. It was large and delicious. I got about halfway through before the warm chicken slathered in a rich red sauce broke through the bottom of the Fry bread. I finished up the rest with fork and knife. The restaurant offers both inside and outside seating. Food is ordered at the counter by a friendly member of the staff who will guide you through the menu if you need help. They do one thing and they do it very, very well. Well worth a visit if you're in Phoenix.

We ordered this to go as I wanted my kids to try fry bread. Not only was the service fast and friendly but the food was amazing. We were fighting over it because it was so good. I wasn't sure if they were going to enjoy it and I should have gotten everyone their own. Next time we come back we're coming in and wearing stretchy pants. I got the no meat taco. I've only ever had it this way so maybe next time we try with the meat. When we came it the place was hopping. Give it a try.

Driving in from Los Angeles we were looking forward to having dinner at this restaurant. The place was busy and we had to sit at a table outside which was fine because inside it was noisy. We ordered a combo Ultimate taco, Vegetarian taco, Honey fry bread and one Coke, this will set you back 45 bucks. These are not regular size tacos these are the size of a big burrito. The taco could have had more beans or meat to balance the bread. The food was really good and it was enough to fill up 3 hungry customers.

For a restaurant to be good, sometimes you just need that one thing you can do oh so well. For this restaurant, it's the fry bread, it is fluffy and amazing. Taste: 5/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 3/5 Value for money: 5/5

Honestly, every time we come home to Arizona, this is our first stop off the plane! It brings that true Southwest spice, with green chilis just like the ones I grew up roasting. Every tribe makes their bread differently, and while it's not my mom's, this comes so close. They never miss -- the consistency and flavor are always on point. James Beard Award-winning? The judges should consider themselves lucky to experience it!

My friend and I stopped by the Fry bread house after a visit to Curious Nature and seeing the sign on the street that says they are a James Beard Award winner (in 2012- I looked it up). The place was packed when we arrived which was a good sign. It is counter service so we placed our order. I am a vegetarian so I ordered the Vegetarian Taco which comes with refried beans, green chili, onions, sour cream, cheese and lettuce in a fry bread. My friend got the beef taco. We also ordered the sweet fry bread with honey and powdered sugar. There is no beer or wine here -- so I ordered an ice tea. The inside was full so we grabbed a picnic table outside. The food came out very quickly and we started digging in. Mine was really good but waaaaaaay too much sour cream (next time I would order on the side or just a little) because it made the fry bread a little soggy, especially by the end. But overall it was very good and I finished the whole thing (which is really quite large) -- but $14.00!!! Seems a bit pricey to me for just a taco -- also the beef taco is only $13 -- so wasn't sure why the meat taco was less (unless they were going by the number of ingredients but meat is surely more expensive than beans?) The sweet fry bread was good but a bit chewy and also not nearly enough honey -- I was actually even wondering if they put honey on it cause I couldn't see or taste it. Overall I was happy with my meal but I did think it was too expensive, and I wish they had at least beer and wine!

A very unassuming location, this James Beard-awarded restaurant provides a homely experience. After ordering at the front, I was so surprised by the efficiency of their service. I would have guessed I waited less than 5 minutes for my food on a busy Saturday evening. I ordered the beef taco with my choice of meat being green chili. it was a very large meal that you could potentially split in two. If you choose the green chili option, be warned it has a little kick to it. I would equate its potency to a 2 out of 10 on a Thai spice scale (I apologize, that's the only scale I know of). You can choose other options as well. Regardless, you'll be greeted with a juicy meat soaked in a rich sauce. The fry bread itself has the consistency of naan: a little crunchy on the outside but very soft on the inside. The whole dish was excellent, and for a good price, too. I would go out of my way to dine here again. Spent ~$15

I developed a taste for fry bread during my time at Pine Ridge, so when I heard of a restaurant that specializes in fry bread, and it won a James Beard award, I made a bee line to The Fry Bread House. This place is legit - owned and operated by Tohono O'odham Nation - you order at the counter and they bring out the food to your table. I got the Vegetarian Taco - a HUGE fry bread (the size of a small pizza) filled with refried beans, green chili strips, onions, sour cream, shredded cheese, and lettuce. Yummy! Each bite had a good chunk of chewy and crispy fry bread mixed with the cool lettuce and warm beans, a perfect mix of textures and flavors. When I opened up the wrapping, I thought I'll never finish it because it was so big. But I took bite after delicious bite, and before long, it was gone. We also got a grilled sweet corn from the daily specials menu - probably the sweetest, most delicious corn I've ever had. Finally, I had just enough room to share a honey fry bread - hot fry bread drizzled with honey - for dessert. The first bites are a little chewy, but after the fry bread cools, it becomes crispy so you get all the textures. No frills here, just excellent food. I'm not surprised that both James Beard and Guy Fieri both gave thumbs up to The Fry Bread House! It's awesome! If you haven't tried it yet, you are missing out. What are you waiting for? Give it a try! Next time I'm in Phoenix, this is the first place I'll visit!

The restaurant is inside of an old brick home with wood interior and warm colors. The service was good-- friendly and food came out at a good pace, we were checked on regularly. We ordered an appetizer and then entrees from the lunch menu. The aguachile appetizer is SO good. It's bright, fresh, and has a lot of flavor in the green sauce. It reminds me of a ceviche type dish due to its raw butterflied shrimp that is marinated in the house made chile serrano & cilantro citrus sauce. It was awesome. We were also given free chips & house made bean dip. I ordered the mixed two item plate with a chile rellano and taco corazon (grilled taco dipped in a red chile sauce, stuffed with shredded beef & melted cheese. Topped with grilled onions). The black beans and rice is also tasty. I tried a bite of the other dishes, and I also really liked the brightly colored spinach & cheese enchiladas with pink sauce ( signature beet sauce). I look forward to trying other items from the menu, I was eyeing the steak Mexicano or red snapper. Those dishes sound good for dinner.

One of my favorite salsas was hibiscus. We enjoyed our quick happy hour so much that we hope to come back for dinner as I see Mole is on the menu. The staff was super friendly and attentive. I hear that they have open a second venue not too far from the original place. They have an event venue. Their original place is in a former church. Out of all the restaurants I had before leaving Arizona, THIS ended up being one of the places I couldn't stop thinking about after I moved away. Ever since leaving, I've randomly craved these tacos constantly. I've tried other taco spots in Denver hoping something would compare, but honestly nothing really hit the same. So when I came back out to Phoenix recently to visit some friends, this was one of the first places I knew I needed to come back to because I had built it up so much in my head over time. And somehow... it was just as good again. The meat tastes incredibly fresh, flavorful, and well-seasoned, and you can literally watch them prepare everything right in front of you, which makes the whole experience even better. There's something so satisfying about seeing the tacos being made fresh instead of food just appearing from the kitchen. You can tell they care about quality and consistency. The servers were also super friendly and welcoming both times I came here, which honestly makes such a difference. Everyone had great energy, the service was quick, and the whole place just feels inviting and authentic. I honestly think the fact that I remembered this place so vividly for so long says everything. Usually when you revisit a restaurant after hyping it up in your head for years, it ends up disappointing you. But this place tasted exactly how I remembered it, fresh, flavorful, comforting, and absolutely worth the obsession. When it hits the table, you immediately feel good about the decision. El Pulpazo is technically an entrée, but we always order it as a shareable. The octopus is grilled perfectly and it comes with rice and beans, so everyone gets a little of everything. For entrées, my number one pick is the Lobster and Crab Enchiladas with green sauce. Our party arrived right on time for our reservation, but we were not seated until 15 min later because our table was not ready. It took about an additional 15 min to get tap water for the table (there was not enough provided anyways), and to place our orders too another ~20 min. The food did not arrive until 30 min later. For context, we eventually learned that the restaurant was short staffed and the bartender was also operating as our waiter. When the food finally arrived, there was a mix-up on what was delivered. We had checked with the staff who delivered one of the dishes: we ordered the "wild mushroom" side, but what we received did not look quite like it. We asked clarifying questions x2, but were assured, "no, it is the wild mushroom." Turned out, it was the mushroom empanada that was delivered to our table, which we originally did not order. The management did rectify the situation upon the conclusion of the event when we were paying the bill, but to us, it felt a bit accusatory as if we intentionally wanted to cause a huge fuss about the final total, which was absolutely not the case. The food in general was delicious. If this was a more standard dining experience, it would have been 4-5 stars just for the food. The service was very subpar, and really colored the entire experience negatively, therefore the two star review. I understand that staffing shortages happen -- fine. My family has worked in food service as wait staff for 25+ YEARS, so I am empathetic. But for management to ring up our bill and then come confront us in an inflammatory manner, making us feel like we were wrong, on an occasion to celebrate something special, was extremely disappointing.
