I ordered a dirty chai. I exchanged my dirty chai for drip coffee because it was too sweet and tasted like a sugar substitute. I love ordering dirty chai at coffee shops but I would avoid anything coffee related at the restaurant which is frustrating given their drink menu is mostly coffee drinks. My drip coffee tasted very watered down. The actual food was good and I could see the appeal. I went to brunch to a group of responsible older women at TEASPOON this morning. Although the food, prices and our server (Tito) were great we encountered a problem throughout the 1.5 hours we were there. We were seated at a table large enough for our group of 8, no problem. There was a door to the outdoors close by, PROBLEM!!! Every time a server went out or came in they would kick the doorstop which created a wind tunnel which was very uncomfortable. As a result our food didn't stay warm and several of us put on our jackets. We spoke to the servers most of whom were respectful of our dilemma but there was one server, TYLER, who was totally disrespectful and made sure to keep the door open as long as possible making no effort whatsoever to minimize our discomfort. It took more than 10 minutes for the manager, JASMINE, to come to our table after we asked for the manager. She was totally worthless. She had no authority whatsoever to rectify the situation. Excuse after excuse she finally offered to tape the doorstop up so the servers would be unable to keep the door open. She offered no other solution. When asked about giving the group a discount she responded that she didn't have the authority to do that and that she would have to talk to the owners. When encouraged to do so she responded that they were in New York and unavailable for 2 weeks. TWO WEEKS!!! This particular group of women meets at least twice a month for an activity usually going to a local restaurant that isn't a chain. TEASPOON has been visited before today without any issue. My friends and I went to Teaspoon for a birthday celebration. The food was delicious! I had the Three little pigs breakfast with eggs, bacon, ham, and sausage, and a side of toast. I also enjoyed a Bloody Mary that was perfectly made. My friends enjoyed the bubble waffle and avocado toast. We all enjoyed generous portions and tasty cocktails (Baileys coffee and Strawberry Mimosa). This was my first visit to Teaspoon. We made a rookie mistake and did not call ahead. The wait was around 40 to 50 mins for a table. The food is great as well as the service. We ordered the steak plate, turkey sandwich, crab cakes, bubble waffle and two adult beverages. This came out to a total of 100 dollars. This included our tip for the server. Teaspoon is a wonderful place to hang out and people watch. The bubble waffle was one of the main reasons why we came to visit. It is a waffle that is not crispy, but more on the fluffy side.
