Last Saturday, I tried to make reservations for a Sunday brunch, and was told no reservations day of and weekends only for parties of six or more. Okay, the four of us went on Sunday without reservations only to find we could have called ahead to be put on a waitlist. This would have been useful information. We basically went into our visit to teaspoon with low expectations. Thankfully, our experience went far better than we thought it might. We had a great server, Malia, I believe. She got our adult beverages to us quickly. The entrees were excellent! I had the filet mignon Eggs Benedict, and oh my gosh, it was amazing. My husband had the waffles with fresh fruit and vanilla sauce. He looked like he was in heaven. I tried a bite, and wow! Perfect. One of our friends had the mushroom omelette and was very happy with his choice. Another friend had the filet mignon entree and enjoyed it as well. We were all so thrilled with how good our food looked, that I totally forgot to take any photos, which tends to happen when I'm starving. Oops. I've been in this space for every restaurant that has been here. It's a pleasant light filled space with a lovely patio. I think they could consider getting a person with a touch more positivity and helpfulness to answer the phone, but other than that I wouldn't change a thing. This was my second time dining here and I wish the service was as great matched the taste of food. I had the savory crepe which I enjoyed and my wife had the loaded baked potato skillet which she thought was ok but would not order again. While I really enjoy sitting outside, our waiter was nonchalant at best, but probably more closely aligned to disinterested. If a customer has coffee, it would be nice if he came back and asked if I would like a refill. It states it on their menu and that seems like a common courtesy. Our waiter never checked on us until the end. I really want to like this place, but the service needs improvement. read more

What a gem for breakfast! Thanks to Yelp, I found Teaspoon for a working breakfast. You would never find it on your own, as it's hidden in the corner of a Whole Foods shopping center. First, the food and service are excellent. Best breakfast in the area, hands down! The indoor seating is loud, unfortunately, so we enjoyed the relative quiet on the outdoor patio: NOTE: I was surprised they don't have public WiFi, which was something one would expect at a coffee and breakfast hangout. As for drinks, my husband was impressed by the freshly squeezed grapefruit juice and loved their fruit smoothie. Wasn't impressed with my second visit to this place. I set at the bar and had a waiter that wouldn't smile or make any eye contact. That completely ruined the experience. I decided to try their bubble waffle....not for me...the English clotted cream was incredibly sweet and my waffle was not cooked evenly...big fail. Beautiful restaurant in a wonderful location -- perfect spot for a work luncheon. The ambiance is inviting and it definitely gets busy, so I recommend making reservations in advance. Most of the dishes were delicious, though several were on the heavier side. The loaded potato casserole had way too many potatoes and felt a bit overwhelming. The filet mignon was absolutely delicious and cooked perfectly, but the mashed potatoes were very rich -- something to keep in mind. The grilled shrimp were good, but nothing particularly impressive. The chicken chilaquiles had great flavor, though they were drenched in sauce, which made the dish feel a bit heavy. On a brighter note, the prickly pear mimosas were super refreshing and a standout at the table. Service was fantastic -- our waiter was attentive and consistently checked in on us, which made the experience even better. I absolutely love the simple, refined look of this place. The space feels clean and welcoming, with both indoor and outdoor seating available. The outdoor seating is mostly covered, which is a nice bonus no matter the weather. The service really stood out--our waitress, Jasmine, was outstanding. Friendly, attentive, and made sure we were well taken care of throughout our visit. We came specifically for the bubble pancakes, and they did not disappoint. They're definitely something different--slightly more dense than traditional pancakes, and you can add as much clotted cream as you like depending on how sweet you want them. It's very much a dessert-style pancake and a fun treat. One thing to note is parking. While the parking lot itself is large, it's shared with several other stores, which made finding a spot a bit challenging during breakfast hours. I've been a fan of Teaspoon for years and tried the new location and it did NOT disappoint! I often had to wait awhile at the original location, but this spot was bigger and I was pleasantly surprised to be seated right away on a Sunday morning. I loved the decor and the plaza it's located in is super cute. However, it was very loud, I'm not sure if there's a way to mitigate that but it felt like I had to talk very loud to my friend. Our server, John was awesome! We split the bubble waffle which is always amazing and I tried the southwestern skillet for the first time. It was my favorite item I've ever had at Teaspoon; huge portion and balanced flavors. For drinks they have a full bar, barista set up and smoothies which makes it an ideal brunch spot. Nice to have a Teaspoon closer than the one on Oracle. Food was good. We have tried to eat here before but the wait was too long- getting on the waiting list before leaving home was key. The breakfast bowl as tasty- the gravy, egg and potato were a terrific combo. My companion had the egg parfait which was beautiful but reminded me of something from one of the cooking competitions on TV where they talk about "deconstructed" food. She enjoyed it though! They have a huge outdoor seating area, longer wait for larger parties if you want to sit inside, but no surprise because it was a Sunday morning. We are from the Midwest, so biscuits and gravy is typically a milk gravy with sausage or bacon as flavoring. The gravy here has a cheese flavor to it, I enjoyed it but my husband did not. I had the veggie omelette, was a large portion and was big enough for two people, lots of mushrooms which I loved. Our bubble waffle was good. The clotted cream kind of tasted like cream cheese frosting. The southwestern skillet was huge and their herb French toast was very good. The drinks we ordered I didn't love. The soda was pretty flat and the girl said sorry our CO2 machine doesn't work well and the lemonade tasted more like lime aid so my kids didn't love it. I thought my apple spritz was just all right and the Vietnamese coffee was really good, but I just thought the way that they served wasn't great. It was kind of messy because there was no plate to put the drip on after it had gone through but you had to take it off in order to drink from the cup. They do not offer a children's menu, which is unfortunate because I feel like in this day and age kids menus are essential, especially at breakfast places. The bubble texture was tasty & cool looking with a very sweet cream butter it seemed topped with strawberries .Quite the opposite of the steak Benedict's more traditional flavors . It was quite rich , light yet very filling with the sweet cream butter & syrup almost didn't finish it all , unusual . No regrets tried something new ! Big creative & traditional menu choices with breakfast , brunch & lunch. Pictures of visiting pet dogs of the week were on the bulletin board in the back , fun & I assume allowed on patio didn't see pets inside. I was here with a group of friends this weekend to celebrate a birthday, and as expected, I had a delicious meal! I ordered the egg parfait which came with bread to eat with it, along with fruit as well (I got no melon). You may not expect the egg parfait, but it really is such a savory treat. With potatoes at the bottom, the poached, bacon, and green onion, it all just blended so beautifully and is really yummy. It is $15 which may seem kind of high for the small jar, but I'm glad it at least came with the fruit and the bread. Because I thought I might still be hungry. I also got the tomato soup. I usually would not order a tomato soup, however, I've tried it before a teaspoon, so I knew I liked it. This together was enough food and filled me up! I also got a tropical smoothie which I was disappointed in. The description states mango, peach, strawberry, pineapple, and orange juice. However, drinking it, it just tasted like thick orange juice.. I definitely think they need to lighten up on how much orange juice they're putting in it. The family had a nice breakfast here at Teaspoon but I will say there were a few hiccups. Service felt rough and tumble, but as we understood it some training was happening so that's to be expected. The food was also mostly good but there were areas that will hopefully improve. Here is the good: My Vietnamese drip coffee was very tasty (who can resist sweetened condensed milk) and I loved that they left the phin on top of the glass for presentation. My sister's gluten free French toast was delicious. Still not sure where they find GF bread that good. The not so good: My mushroom and avocado benny was, to be blunt, boring. It lacked flavor and I had to douse it in hot sauce to feel like eating it. My eggs were too runny as well. And that's saying something because I love a runny yolk. My dad ordered a chai latte that was somehow delivered at room temperature. We're not big complainers but we mentioned this to the waiter who explained the barista was in training. He said he would remake it himself and he clearly just went and microwaved it. I wouldn't be too bothered if he had been upfront about this but it felt deceitful to say he would be remaking it. Lastly, I asked for Cholula and was brought Tabasco. I get that slip ups happen but it took quite a while to flag someone down to get the right sauce. I still think this cafe has a lot to offer, and I do really enjoy the decor and the vibes. That being said, I wouldn't recommend my benny and I hope the staff gets their groove back. Came in for one thing and one thing only: the Hong Kong style bubble waffle! My spouse promised me poffertjes which are a favorite of mine and which this decidedly is not, but it's good on it's own merit. This is a waffle, a little denser than typical and bubbly shaped. Served with powdered sugar, clotted cream and strawberries. Our server put the clotted cream on the side, which was a good call. I wish we had double or more berries as that freshness helped balance the density of the waffle. I wish we could return, because the rest of the menu looked really good and the space was lovely, but we likely won't be back in Tucson for a while. read more

I brought my friend from NY here for the first time after hearing so many good things about this spot and I was satisfied. The restaurant itself is very clean and bright. Service was great. Our server was very attentive to our needs. We ordered SW skillet and sausage/egg skillet. Both tasted perfect. The food is very fresh and seasoned well. I got Vietnamese coffee and it's amazing. It tasted perfect like the legit Asian way and kept me pumping all day. Perks of eating here is that it is in the same plaza as wholefood market and petco. Wandered in with the aim of a filling brunch after a race. Staff, ambience, table/settings, were all terrific. We ordered the Loaded Potato Skillet $15, Dutch Baby $14, and Spanish Chorizo omelette $15. Based on photos the cast iron pancake (Dutch Baby) looked uber sweet with both honey drizzle and powdered sugar. The waitress said some folks get honey on the side and we so elected as well. The potato skillet was huge and very hot. However, the chorizo omelette was lukewarm, through-and-through. The chorizo is sliced sausage, fyi. It was delicious but don't expect crumbled meat (like in a Mx burrito). Eggs for both the skillet (scrambled) and omelette were moist and fluffy... just wish the omelette was hot/fresh from stove too. The Dutch Baby arrived with honey drizzle all over and the waitress apologized and promptly offered to have it remade before we even noticed. But that would take another 15 minutes so we just declined. Like the other skillet the Dutch was very hot and, yes, super sweet. Controlling the honey drizzle (and canceling the powdered sugar) is definitely the way to go. It's essentially sizzling in butter within the skillet so it's already nicely rich. Other than the couple of misses by the kitchen, the experience, venue, and staff were excellent. read more
