    Vegan Death Free Sandwich

I've been thinking about this Death Free Foodie sandwich ever since I had it several months ago. The tofu is perfectly marinated! Flavorful and delicious. Will come again more often!

Stopped in for lunch and met the owner at the register. Very friendly and fun to chat with. I opted for the Sheila and a Mexican Coca Cola. Great sammy, but it was not tender enough to pull apart just biting it, so it fell apart and became awkward to finish without utensils. Otherwise the flavor and quality of the components were transforming me back to The City. I'll keep coming back.

Went back again because I loved it so much the first time and I know I'll be back again soon. The space I comfy and has the 'neighborhood' deli vibe, great people I've interacted with and the food is just wonderful. Thanks again to them.

What a great deli and the owner was very friendly. I grabbed some challah for the best French toast Sunday morning. They had babka muffins and some great bagels with awesome spreads. Give them a try.

I had lunch here yesterday with a friend. It was my first time here. We split two bagel sandwiches, Stewie's Breakfast (with whitefish) and one with cream cheese and lox. Each one was served as two open-faced sandwiches on half a bagel, which made splitting them very easy. They were good; I especially recommend the whitefish. Prices are high for a counter-service place. (My whitefish sandwich was $17.51 plus tax.) For some reason, they don't have chopped liver.

We were very much looking forward to this place for a while so today we got to try it. Honestly, I don't think I will go back. We ordered BLTS sandwich, Matza ball soup and potato knish to share. The sandwich was definitely worth the trip. A little more brisket would be nice but otherwise the flavor was amazing, the sour dough is fantastic, fresh heirloom tomato and avocado, just worked very well. Just add more brisket for goodness sake! The knish is not worth the calories. The dough or the potatoes were a bit sour. I am not sure if that's their recipe or the knish I got was a little old. Something went terribly wrong with the Matza ball. The broth was good but the ball was impossible to cut with the spoon. I had to utilize a fork and a knife to cut it and in the end I couldn't eat. It should be fluffy. Service was fine. The food for the whole party doesn't come out all together. The place is pretty casual.

Ordered their pastrami sandwich. Took a long time to come out. But once it came out I was very pleased. The pastrami had a wonderful smoke. Suppose to be house smoked. I really enjoyed it. Definitely worth another visit. Everyone was friendly. Will have to try some other items.

I'm going to give them an A for effort. Jeremiah I believe that was his name is the owner and it is his 1st deli he has opened. My Ruben was good but a little dry, and it was over 24 bucks, with no sides. Evidently to there is a cash discount that ends up looking like an extra charge for using a credit card. This is always one of my pet peeves the extra charge for credit. I asked about it and he told me cash is king and I know that, but it till bugs. He also told me that the same sandwich would be 35 to forty bucks in New York, of which I told him this is Tucson not New York. There is no meat counter and there are just a few items for sale. So it's not like a delicatessen in my mind. With a few tweaks I think it can be a real winner, I will be back.

    Matzah Ball Soup.

I met my friend (and boss) here for brunch today (Sunday Feb 15th, 2026). The deli is simple, but nice. I love the pictures on the wall from long ago...and there was a NYT news paper for people to read. We split a Matzah Ball Soup, my friend got a Lox and Cucumber Sandwich on a sesame seed bagel, and I decided to try the Lox TarTar on a Jalapeno bagel. It was hard to decide because the menu has so many options! They have a deli case with to go options, and a small cooler with drink options. In addition to the cooler there is water, coffee and tea to quench your thirst. I thought the Matzah Ball Soup was very salty, and the center of the Matzah Ball was quite hard. We split the soup, and my friend who is Jewish and eats this soup much more often then I do....agreed. Her Lox and Cucumber was on point, and must say the star of the show for me was my Lox TarTar. What a lovely combination of bright and delicious flavors. The fresh dill added an extra burst of flavor, and the capers were a perfect compliment to mouth watering lox. I would order that again in a heartbeat, but it is filling! I took the other half of my TarTar home. The prices are higher (relative to Tucson), however this is locally owned and run business, and I am willing to support local 100%!

This came as a recommendation of local friends while I was visiting town the week of July 4th. It's hidden in a little strip mall, so if you're driving down Speedway, it's easy to blend in. I admittedly missed my turn, but I chalk that up to not being around these parts and borrowing a car. I knew to take a number before ordering at the counter, but I saw a few people miss that part of the system. As someone who dines solo often, I appreciated the bar area to post up and enjoy a meal. I tend to order menu items that I can't make myself or get back home, so the brisket BLTA was the clear choice for a late lunch. It started off strong with a base of Barrio Bread's sourdough, and just enough aioli to keep things from being dry. The brisket itself was cooked wonderfully. If I lived in town, this would be a regular treat. It seems like a chill spot to bring your parents, since there were a lot of older folks. The soundtrack was solid, too, and ranged from some hip hop to Patsy Cline. You can tell the folks that work here enjoy what they're doing and have injected some personality into the joint. If I ever make it back to Tucson, I'll be stopping by to see how they're holding up.

It's hard to find a good NY style deli in Tucson. The Reuben was outstanding, but with NYC prices to match. They run out of pastrami, so go early or call ahead.

I've seen this place pop up all over my social media so I decided to give it a try! The inside is a very cute deli vibe feel for sure. They have items that you can purchase outside of the normal deli food. They also have a fridge full of different types of beverages. I really enjoyed the selection. You do have to take a number to order and you order in that order just like how you would at the deli itself. The menu had a good array of options and I really appreciated the fact that they have bread from barrio bread it is one of my favorites. I came during a weekday so it wasn't super busy, but there was a lot of people there and I ordered the brisket sandwich. I didn't wait too long before they brought out the brisket sandwich. It was tender and juicy, but overall the flavor really wasn't there. There wasn't much to it. The bread itself and the entire sandwich was great but I think more could be done to the brisket I'm not sure if this is like a traditional sandwich where it's supposed to have Less of a flavor profile and just appreciate the ingredients that are in it but overall this place was ok definitely not something that stood out to me. For how much I paid for the sandwich I don't think that I will be returning as there are many other options in Tucson that have less pricey options.

    Le Bourdain
    Joann B.

When you first arrive, grab a number and then place your order at the register. They'll attach your number to the order and call it when it's ready - so don't forget your number or throw it away. My first visit to Kneller's was a success. I don't really know anything about the late Anthony Bourdain, but his breakfast sandwich creation is pretty delicious. The mortadella was nicely grilled with the edges a little crispy. The whole sandwich is savory, cheesy, eggy and soft. I wanted to order another one after taking my first bites. I hate to say it, I liked the Le Bourdain more than the Brisket BLTA. It's definitely not because the BBLTA was bad, it was a tasty sandwich. The tomato combined with the chipotle aioli brought a tartness and the bacon and brisket provided a savory smokiness. It was juicy and went well with the toasted sourdough. It's a solid sandwich. I just prefer the comfort of Le Bourdain. :)

However, I have to give 3 stars for the overall execution of my meal. I had a half of a Hammer sandwich which was about $8. It's ham, soppressata, cheese, lettuce, tomato, banana peppers, dijon, vinegar, oil, garlic sauce. Unfortunately, I felt that my sandwich came with skimpy toppings. I got a pretty thinly stacked layer of ham and 2 little ovals of soppressata. The cheese was barely present. I also would have loved more tomato. I got a good amount of lettuce and banana peppers, though! Unfortunately, I just couldn't taste the meat and cheese toppings super well due to their being not much of them on the sandwich. The flavor of all the other ingredients were good, though. My friend got the Scramwich on Foccacia for $14. Looking at it, I could also tell it had not much proscuitto. Upon further inspection opening one of the halves of the sandwich... it was definitely only a few little smaller pieces of proscuitto. (The other toppings were on the other piece of bread, don't worry, those were fine) Sorry for the ugly photo - hard to really capture it without dissecting the thing. I also just noticed while looking at the photo again that one of the pieces of arugula also had black spots on it... Definitely not very fresh. My friend still enjoyed the foccacia, sundried tomatoes, and other toppings, but also felt there wasn't enough proscuitto. For the price, I would hope for a sufficient amount of meat. Heard a lot of hype about Quisty's and I see great potential in their quality and concepts! With better execution I'd definitely consider coming back. It's just hard to justify paying as much as we did for sandwiches that were skimpy on arguably one of the most important toppings!

This place is located in an artsy / entertainment district close to downtown. When we went, there was road construction nearby that made getting here more challenging. Once we located it, the next challenge was parking. We visited around noon on a Saturday. There are no large parking lots, so you have to find something on-street. We ventured a couple of blocks off the main street and found something. However, the signage wasn't really clear on whether you had to pay on weekends or not. We accessed the parking app via a QR code, but it told us that our space 'was not available', despite the fact that we were in the space. A guy leaving the space next to us confirmed that parking *was* free on weekends, so we trusted that and walked to the restaurant. In retrospect, I think the app meant that we did not need to pay, but 'not available' seems a bit vague for that... The restaurant is located on a strip of old storefronts that now house restaurants, record shops, etc. There was a lot of pedestrian traffic out front, including a homeless guy asking for change. The atmosphere was sort of a loud, slightly cramped dive bar. I don't mean that in a bad way, but that was the vibe. The music was loud - none of it was familiar but I didn't hate it. I guess my point is that if you are looking for a quiet spot for lunch, this is probably not it. We initially were offered a table on their covered patio. We left one person there while sorting out parking, but when we came back they had a booth inside so we grabbed that instead. The patio seemed shaded and semi-comfortable, other than a loud barking dog. We browsed the menus and ordered our food. We all got half-and-half combos (soup/salad or sandwich/soup). The only issue was that the soups came in a bread bowl. I was able to finish my soup, but felt bad about not eating more of the bowl. If I'd had the option, I would have gotten a plastic bowl. The salad was pretty big, despite being only half. I finished most of it. We ended up having sufficient leftovers from others such that we took them back to our hotel (a relatively short drive) and finished them the next evening. All the food was tasty. This wasn't what I was expecting, but I'd consider eating here again given the right circumstances / group.
