Super happy about my first visit. Like pretty darn happy. I love a solid, well made tuna sandwich.. or for that matter, a sold made sandwich. Who doesn't right? This tuna sandwich won me over. It's dairy free which is perfect and wow... the balance of ingredients is BALANCED. Crunchy, tangy, ever so subtly sweet, and creamy. The rye bitterness in the bread helps and wow! Those home made pickles.. dang.. they are good. Don't even get me started on the pure olive oil potato chips. Service was superb! Space so comfy, cute and local. I hate to write this review because I wanted to love it....but I will never go back. Parking sucks. Ambiance/Cleanliness-it's legit deli like and has a decent amount of seating. Filled with OLD people. Clean enough. 3 stars Service-Decent....but the sandwich took over 20 minutes. 2 stars Food- Got the Chopped Cheese Knish and ORDERED pastrami Reuben. The knish was decent...not terribly cheese-y but tasty...filled with cubed potatoes, green chile, ground beef...i liked it....but the sandwich? Awful. First if the rye was grilled it was the weakest grill ever...not crunchy at all....and soft enough to develop the consistency of a mushy sponge absorbing the wet sauerkraut, which was a good sauerkraut. I think i got corned beef...not pastrami. It was cut very thick, fatty in a gristle way, tough and virtually tasteless. The food was not the work of a competent professional. Not fit for consumption. Firstly let me preface the review with my background. I'm a 80 yr old Jewish male who's lived the first 70 yrs in NYC. I've eaten untold hundreds of meals in "delis" all across the 5 boroughs and America. I ordered a corned beef on rye. It was prepared as a reuben, which I didn't expect. The meat was not cut freshly from being kept warm on a steam table. It had none of the pink, sweet flavor and moisture you always expect. Instead it was brownish and over cooked. It also came with 2 small pickle spears which bore no resemblance to any flavor profile recognized as a pickle and were not eatable. Also tried their potato salad. It was bland and needed seasoning. The best part of my experience was a can of Dr. Browns Celray soda. Finally the portion of meat was about 1/3rd of what is normally provided. All in all not a worthwhile or enjoyable meal. read more

I met my friend (and boss) here for brunch today (Sunday Feb 15th, 2026). The deli is simple, but nice. I love the pictures on the wall from long ago...and there was a NYT news paper for people to read. We split a Matzah Ball Soup, my friend got a Lox and Cucumber Sandwich on a sesame seed bagel, and I decided to try the Lox TarTar on a Jalapeno bagel. It was hard to decide because the menu has so many options! They have a deli case with to go options, and a small cooler with drink options. In addition to the cooler there is water, coffee and tea to quench your thirst. I thought the Matzah Ball Soup was very salty, and the center of the Matzah Ball was quite hard. We split the soup, and my friend who is Jewish and eats this soup much more often then I do....agreed. Her Lox and Cucumber was on point, and must say the star of the show for me was my Lox TarTar. What a lovely combination of bright and delicious flavors. The fresh dill added an extra burst of flavor, and the capers were a perfect compliment to mouth watering lox. I would order that again in a heartbeat, but it is filling! I took the other half of my TarTar home. The prices are higher (relative to Tucson), however this is locally owned and run business, and I am willing to support local 100%! read more

I had lunch here yesterday with a friend. It was my first time here. We split two bagel sandwiches, Stewie's Breakfast (with whitefish) and one with cream cheese and lox. Each one was served as two open-faced sandwiches on half a bagel, which made splitting them very easy. They were good; I especially recommend the whitefish. Prices are high for a counter-service place. (My whitefish sandwich was $17.51 plus tax.) For some reason, they don't have chopped liver. read more

We were very much looking forward to this place for a while so today we got to try it. Honestly, I don't think I will go back. We ordered BLTS sandwich, Matza ball soup and potato knish to share. The sandwich was definitely worth the trip. A little more brisket would be nice but otherwise the flavor was amazing, the sour dough is fantastic, fresh heirloom tomato and avocado, just worked very well. Just add more brisket for goodness sake! The knish is not worth the calories. The dough or the potatoes were a bit sour. I am not sure if that's their recipe or the knish I got was a little old. Something went terribly wrong with the Matza ball. The broth was good but the ball was impossible to cut with the spoon. I had to utilize a fork and a knife to cut it and in the end I couldn't eat. It should be fluffy. Service was fine. The food for the whole party doesn't come out all together. The place is pretty casual. read more

First off, the sign on their front door says they do not cooperate with ICE or Border Patrol. Leave politics out of restaurants! The food was okay, except the corned beef sandwich. I paid $42 dollars for a corned beef sandwich, a small container of white fish salad and a soda. The corned beef was sliced so thin, it was greasy and had too much mustard on it. My husband and I finally went into Kneller's because we've heard so many positive things from friends. This east coast inspired deli in Tucson offers a huge variety of sandwiches, soups, bagels, desserts, fun merchandise and gifts to purchase. Also, I absolutely love the fun decor inspired by popular culture! (Seinfeld, Friends, and Anthony Bourdain!) Their space is a great deli vibe with both a counter to sit, and tables. I especially love their vegan and gluten free choices. The service was excellent and the owner, Jeremy, answered any questions we had. The challah bread we tried was some of the best we've had in town. I've always wanted to eat a knish, light, airy dough filled with meats, cheeses, and possibly onions. The one I bought was their house special of the day and it was warm, cheesy, and so delicious! I could eat them all day! Our bagel and lox was really delicious, with a large helping of fresh salmon, cream cheese, capers and butter lettuce. We could tell they craft everything meticulously, and do their own pickling. Their prices are a bit high (many people have pointed that out) but, in my opinion, it's worth it, and I'd rather support a locally owned family business with character. I'm going to give them an A for effort. Jeremiah I believe that was his name is the owner and it is his 1st deli he has opened. My Ruben was good but a little dry, and it was over 24 bucks, with no sides. Evidently to there is a cash discount that ends up looking like an extra charge for using a credit card. This is always one of my pet peeves the extra charge for credit. I asked about it and he told me cash is king and I know that, but it till bugs. He also told me that the same sandwich would be 35 to forty bucks in New York, of which I told him this is Tucson not New York. There is no meat counter and there are just a few items for sale. So it's not like a delicatessen in my mind. With a few tweaks I think it can be a real winner, I will be back. read more

This came as a recommendation of local friends while I was visiting town the week of July 4th. It's hidden in a little strip mall, so if you're driving down Speedway, it's easy to blend in. I admittedly missed my turn, but I chalk that up to not being around these parts and borrowing a car. I knew to take a number before ordering at the counter, but I saw a few people miss that part of the system. As someone who dines solo often, I appreciated the bar area to post up and enjoy a meal. I tend to order menu items that I can't make myself or get back home, so the brisket BLTA was the clear choice for a late lunch. It started off strong with a base of Barrio Bread's sourdough, and just enough aioli to keep things from being dry. The brisket itself was cooked wonderfully. If I lived in town, this would be a regular treat. It seems like a chill spot to bring your parents, since there were a lot of older folks. The soundtrack was solid, too, and ranged from some hip hop to Patsy Cline. You can tell the folks that work here enjoy what they're doing and have injected some personality into the joint. If I ever make it back to Tucson, I'll be stopping by to see how they're holding up. read more

I've seen this place pop up all over my social media so I decided to give it a try! The inside is a very cute deli vibe feel for sure. They have items that you can purchase outside of the normal deli food. They also have a fridge full of different types of beverages. I really enjoyed the selection. You do have to take a number to order and you order in that order just like how you would at the deli itself. The menu had a good array of options and I really appreciated the fact that they have bread from barrio bread it is one of my favorites. I came during a weekday so it wasn't super busy, but there was a lot of people there and I ordered the brisket sandwich. I didn't wait too long before they brought out the brisket sandwich. It was tender and juicy, but overall the flavor really wasn't there. There wasn't much to it. The bread itself and the entire sandwich was great but I think more could be done to the brisket I'm not sure if this is like a traditional sandwich where it's supposed to have Less of a flavor profile and just appreciate the ingredients that are in it but overall this place was ok definitely not something that stood out to me. For how much I paid for the sandwich I don't think that I will be returning as there are many other options in Tucson that have less pricey options. read more

When you first arrive, grab a number and then place your order at the register. They'll attach your number to the order and call it when it's ready - so don't forget your number or throw it away. My first visit to Kneller's was a success. I don't really know anything about the late Anthony Bourdain, but his breakfast sandwich creation is pretty delicious. The mortadella was nicely grilled with the edges a little crispy. The whole sandwich is savory, cheesy, eggy and soft. I wanted to order another one after taking my first bites. I hate to say it, I liked the Le Bourdain more than the Brisket BLTA. It's definitely not because the BBLTA was bad, it was a tasty sandwich. The tomato combined with the chipotle aioli brought a tartness and the bacon and brisket provided a savory smokiness. It was juicy and went well with the toasted sourdough. It's a solid sandwich. Yay! So excited Tucson has a Jewish deli. Great vibe. I absolutely loved the music in the background which kept it super lively. They serve Bubbe's bagels, which I got with their onion and chive cream cheese. We also tried their KNISH, the special of the day as well as the original. Both had a wonderful pastry surrounding them. The potatoes had a super good flavor too. Highly, highly recommended. a great cookbook selection as well! Kneller's is a great new restaurant, the classic deli vibe is a welcome addition to the food scene in town! So excited to have this locally owned spot open now. Like a classic deli, you take a number when you walk in. Not everyone seemed to understand this so you had some people lining up or trying to order ahead of others. It should be straightforward but I think for folks not used to a deli setup it is confusing. Maybe a sign when you walk in could help. It's clear to see when they're not busy, but when it gets crowded people seem to miss the ticketing system. Their team was kind and quick taking our order and bringing us our food. From breakfast and lunch sandwiches to knish and soup, there are so many great options. They use two Tucson classics to elevate their menu, Bubbe's for their bagels and Barrio Bread for their sandwiches. So glad to see that we have a Jewish deli in Tucson. We had our dog with us and sat in the tables outside, which are directly in the sun during the daytime. So I don't recommend that. But the inside was really cute. I had a bagel with salmon, which was really tiny. So I don't recommend that. But the pastrami sandwich was really good and had excellent bread. It is a little pricey, but it's also a nice little treat to have something like this in the Tucson area. read more

I finally tried Knellers and can say I absolutely loved what I ate. I ordered the pastrami sandwich, and I was lucky because I apparently got the last of the pastrami. It was hands down the best pastrami sandwich I've ever had. I've never had one in NYC, which I'm told is where you can get the best pastrami. I think they make their own and it did not let me down. My only complaint is the price. It was (if memory serves) $22.00. And that was just for the sandwich. It didn't even come with a pickle! lol. I know thanks to tariffs and other issues, prices of meat are skyrocketing, but that's pretty steep. I will likely go back, but it will not be a place I can afford to go to regularly, which I like to do with neighborhood restaurants. I live in the Palo Verde neighborhood and often like to patronize my neighbors. read more

Stopped to try a bite before book club today! The numbering system was a little confusing, we weren't sure whether to take a number or stand in line, and they weren't sure either lol. The knish of the day was delicious! They had a potato knish that was perfectly cooked. I tried to order another but they were sold out so do not miss out on this! The lox and "the works" was fantastic. Homemade cured lox with butter lettuce, heirloom tomato, capers, and dill heightened the flavors of the sandwich. I love that Kneller's pairs this sandwich with Bubbe's bagels. I am usually not a big fan of pickles but the homemade pickles paired with this sandwich was 10/10. I ended my meal with a black & white cookie, which was also pretty nostalgic for me, coming from NY. I love the casual vibe of this place. It feels very personal, with historical family photos scaling the walls of the place. I sat at the counter and they had copies of The NY Times. I finally got around to trying Knellers and it didn't disappoint! Very easy to find as it's right off the main drag on Speedway. When you walk in you should grab a deli number ticket so you can know when to order and when your food is ready. Look for the now serving sign behind the counter if you're confused about where your number is in line. This is old school deli style baby! Loved seeing the special menu and I ended up trying the house signature Lox Bagel and "the works". Serving size was enormous and bagel was great (Bubbes bagels). We went there to have lunch because my wife wanted matzo ball soup. We were very surprised by the limited menu for lunch. Have spend a lot of time in the Jewish delis in NYC and Chicago we were expecting many more choices of sandwiches. I ordered the brisket sandwich and it was a good size sandwich. It was tender but had no flavor. The rye bread that didn't have pickle juice on it was very tasty. One thing that really wrecked the sandwich was I ordered no pickles but they decided to add the pickles to my plate anyway (I worked in a pickle factory during summer break from college and just the smell gets me ill). The pickles were touching the bread so it ruined the taste of the sandwich. My wife eat the pickles (she loves pickles) and said they had no flavor. They were busy for lunch with a group of older Jewish women having an outing. They didn't have the staff to take care of the crowd. The couple in front of us and my wife both ordered the soup. It took over an hour to get and my wife had to get it to go because she had a doctor's appointment. The other couple was also disappointed and got the soup to go. My wife said that the soup was too salty and not very flavorful. Since this is her favorite soup, she was very disappointed. The only thing I can say about being like a NYC style deli is the prices. Two soups , one sandwich and a Dr Brown soda was $56.00. We didn't try their bagels because we already go to Bubba's to have their bagels, which are delicious but quite a bit less expensive than what they have here. We were so disappointed because we were hoping for a good deli in town. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more

Eagerly anticipating the opening of this business because Tucson has been without a Jewish deli for way too long! Lot of traditional Jewish delicacies are available. I saw a few tables with chicken soup and matzo balls, they looked delish. The soup is clear and sparkly just as it should be and the matzo balls are huge! They appeared to be light and fluffy (I know some folks are devoted to "sinkers," but I am not one of them!) Kneller's is Jewish style, as meat and dairy are not separated and bacon is available. The decision to appeal to a wider swatch of the population makes sense. We arrived at 11:30 and a few tables and some counter stools were available. Two men were in front of us at the ordering /cashier counter, which gave us time to peruse the menu of bagel specialties, sandwiches, salads, and sides (yay! knishes!) We decided to order and share so we could double our pleasure. My friend had the brisket sandwich, layered with tender and succulent brisket, butter lettuce, tomato, avocado, and a pickle. The brisket was a bit skimpy, though; all the veggies made it look substantial, but it could have used another slice or two of brisket. I had the lox and cream cheese, onions, tomato, lettuce, and capers on a jalapeño and cheddar bagel. Bagels are from Bubbe's, definitely the best bagels in our city. Smart decision! The lox was tender and beautiful; house made and wonderful. We also shared a knish because I hadn't had one in a very long time and my friend had never. The pastry is flaky and the filling is luscious and plentiful. The pickles are also house-made. I am partial to half-sour dills and these are crisp and bright green as they should be; the flavor differs from the ones I make: Kneller's are a bit spicy and have a sweet note. All the employees were helpful and friendly. The deli is spacious and immaculate. Located in a strip mall on Speedway , just east of Tucson Boulevard, parking is adequate. Additional tables are on the sidewalk and they were shaded. I found out the pastrami will be ready in a couple weeks; it is presently curing. We were both thrilled. I did neglect my duties in that I have no pictures to post. We were too excited and finished eating before we realized. However, the pastrami will be ready soon and we will be there to eat and photograph. The fifth rating star will be available post pastrami! read more
