I've never had a porchetta sandwich before, so thanks to local chef, Jackie Tran for his post about Parkie's, because I don't think I would have tried a porchetta sandwich anytime soon. This porchetta was a little crispy, kind of briny from the caper aioli and tart from the pickled onion. Each bite was very tasty. My only wish was that there was one more layer of porchetta. My husband tried the veggie muffaletta, the Where's The Beef. The baguette was super juicy and stuffed with giardiniera and yuba. Hubby was not disappointed.

Oh man, I'm thankful I was able to catch them before they tool some time off for the holidays. I had really bad FOMO so I got there before they were supposed to start service. I had the porchetta sandwich and it was amazing. The sandwich had a good bread base, caper mayo, and arugula. This all went together well. The service was friendly and fast. My preference would be more meat on the sandwich and maybe crunchier bread. I haven't had porchetta before, but I loved what I had. It was crunchy, flavorful, and savory. I would suggest getting to them early as they've been selling out most nights.

Huge Rumbalo sandwich packed with meat

You better be hungry when getting a sandwich from Parkie 'cuz they are huge! Parkie came to my work today and offered three pre-selected meals to choose from for a group of employees we were honoring/celebrating. Since my department arranged for the lunch, we were able to grab a company paid lunch too. I had the Rumbalo sandwich which was full of Italian meats, cheese, lettuce, sliced pepperoncinis and a delicious, slightly spicy Italian dressing. I tell you that sandwich was packed! So much so that I had to remove the bread and even then, I was so full I could hardly work. LOL Also had a side of pasta salad with my sandwich and the pasta salad is great with sun dried tomatoes, Kalamata olives, peas and bow tie pasta. So flavorful! All my coworkers agreed - delicious and HUGE!!! Thanks, Parkie Sandwich.

Ashley and Nevin are the real deal! I've eaten at Parkie Sandwich around town a few times and I even booked them for an event. Food is spectacular. Not only are the sandwiches epic, but their sides and desserts are also! They are now doing dinners on the last Sunday of the month that aren't sandwiches at all, and they are selling out! Don't just wait to find this bus. Find out where they will be, make a plan and go get some!

I finally got around to trying Parkie! I caught the food bus at Crooked Tooth Brewery on a Monday night. If you're not sure where they are parked I would recommend checking their social media on Instagram for updates. I tried the Where's The Beef? sandwich and pesto pasta salad. It had a lot of flavor for a vegan sandwich (a lot of times places still don't get this right) and seasonings were on point, my only qualms were how soggy the sandwich bread got after a few minutes. I ended up having to eat the whole thing with a fork. It was great being able to sit on the crooked tooth outdoor patio and enjoy my food. If I see them parked, I would try another one of their sandwiches and I'd recommend this as a great casual take away.

Parkie's posted up outside of Dragoon Brewery today and I finally got to try their vegan "Where's the Beef?" Sandwich. I was super lucky to grab their last one and enjoy a beer while we waited. The sandwich is conceptually similar to a Chicago Italian Beef sandwich and they use tofu skins for the meat substitute. The olives they added also gave me muffaletta vibes. It was definitely delicious and I hope to pay them another visit in the near future!

We have family in Tucson, so when we're there I always pick up some of Kent's fresh Polish kielbasa. You are depriving yourself if you don't get some, and I would hate to see anyone deprive himself/herself of this delicious treat. Get over to Kent's Sausage Shop and get you some - all of his products are sedond to none, but this particular variety is uniquely exquisite. You will not be disappointed!

I stopped in and asked the lady behind the counter if they had Krakow. She said yes and pointed to a sausage in the case. I said no, that was not it as it was much smaller around than what I grew up eating, which (in the midwest) is around 6" across. The lady said they've been making Krakow for 40 years, and "that's the way people like it here", and that's that. I asked her if i could show her a picture of what I was talking about. She said it wouldn't do any good (to show a picture). She pretty much ignored me and went on to other tasks. I asked for a taste and she sliced off a piece. It's about 80% taste-wise of what I grew up eating, not nearly garlicky enough but close enough to buy a pound. As she was slicing it, she said "he" makes it once a year right after Thanksgiving and when it's gone, it's gone. So I asked for 2# and said I was going to freeze some. She said it would dry out when frozen so I only got 1#. Perhaps she was really busy, but she didn't seem to have time for me. She was pleasant enough with my requests but not very friendly. Not sure I'll go back.

Decades ago, Eegee's used to be one of my go-to spots. Over the years, however, the sandwiches became dry and started tasting like mostly bread. Slice and Ice did not disappoint. Their Italian three-meat and cheese hero was delicious. The sandwich was not dry at all, and you could really taste the meats and fillings. It paired perfectly with their fries dipped in the ranch sauce. I honestly cannot think of another combination that goes together so well. Service was friendly and fast. I hope this place becomes my new go-to spot, just like Eegee's was for me years ago.
