I had been looking forward to trying Slice and Ice for a long time. I visited shortly after it first opened on the east side of Tucson, but I waited until my second visit to write a review to make sure it was truly as good as I remembered. Decades ago, Eegee's used to be one of my go-to spots. Over the years, however, the sandwiches became dry and started tasting like mostly bread. Slice and Ice did not disappoint. Their Italian three-meat and cheese hero was delicious. The sandwich was not dry at all, and you could really taste the meats and fillings. It paired perfectly with their fries dipped in the ranch sauce. I honestly cannot think of another combination that goes together so well. Service was friendly and fast. I hope this place becomes my new go-to spot, just like Eegee's was for me years ago. read more

Finally made it to the new location of Slice and Ice on Tanque Verde Rd. Drive thru was easy to order and pickup. The employees were helpful and kind. This was a take out and drive home so I did not go inside to check that out. But let's talk about the food! So happy, I am doing a quiet happy dance in my house because the Tuna was delightful and all the fresh veggies were crunchy and the bread!!! Thank you! Toasted sub that was crunchy and flavorful!! So happy. French fries were wonderful and crisp and delicious along with the homemade ranch! Wowsa! I love that my ice looks like ice ha ha! Came here for dinner on a Tuesday evening around 7:30. They were already mopping the inside of the lobby, and blocked off most of the seating area which was kind of annoying. I was hoping to sit and do some work on my laptop, but the only tables that had outlets were blocked off because of the mopping. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger pizza and the hot ranch fries, everything was delicious. I really liked the cheeseburger pizza, and the sauces for my food. Been here three times. First time food and experience was spectacular! Food and customer service way beyond expectation. Last couple of times not as much but, food quality still good and fries were hot perfect for the ride home. When done correctly their Italian meat sandwich is the best I've had. I appreciated that the service was quick and employees were friendly. There's a good variety of food options from hot links to chicken sandwiches which made it difficult to choose which to try because I was interested in a few. The price point is good as well, especially for the quality and quantity. I ate the Chicken Parmesan Round sandwich and it was good. My favorite part was the flavor. The ice was refreshing on this 100 degree day that was about it . 2 of 3 ice flavors were ok stay away from the ice tea one !!! The strawberry lemonade and watermelon were pleasant no dyes or flavorings added . The menus needs to clearly show what is on the pizza .As a first time costumer I had many questions non were answered with confidence .when I got my food I then asked if this was right trying to understand why I revived this blue chess's pizza . They weren't very helpful as I was blown away with the response while the 2 worker's turn start speaking a different language completely disregarding my experience with the awful food . It's a nice little shop on the Westside. I discovered it when the Tucson Foodie Facebook recommended it as an alternative to Eegee's. Not bad, but I still prefer Eegee's grinders. I ordered a slice of pepperoni, a grinder, and a drink. Total out the door was $16.85. I'll get the bad out of the way first. The pizza slice. While it's actually pretty good, it's the thinnest slice I've ever been served in my life. My first impression that this wasn't going to be very good but it actually had lots of good flavor. The other problem is the cornmeal (?) they use on the bottom. It turns black and you get it all over your hands. The crust isn't black, just the cornmeal. It's so messy that it actually got under my fingernails and I'm still trying to get it all out. They technically don't have a grinder but they have a 3-meat sandwich that acts like a grinder with the dressing and all that. It was pretty good. The bread is toasted by fresh and the ingredients tasted fresh. I got mine without olives because that's how I roll. Nice alternative to Eegee's, but, like I said, I think I still prefer Eegee's. The change was nice, tho. It's a free standing building which is easy to find. Plenty of parking. Friendly service. There's a soda dispenser so you get all the refills you want. The place is clean. Overall good atmosphere. I live on the Eastside and with traffic it took me about 45 minutes to get there. Would I do that again? Probably not. But if I were in the area I'd stop by again. As a frequent Tucson visitor I was really bummed when Eegees succumbed to corporate overlords and was not at all surprised when the quality went down and prices went up. So happy to find Slice & Ice and was very satisfied with my choices. No, the ice is not the same because I'm sure they had to sell their recipes with the restaurant. But it was still really good. I had the watermelon. Hubs had the meatball sammy and really enjoyed it. I do wish there were more gluten free options as all I could get was a salad. We tried the Italian three meat & cheese hero and the turkey ham and cheese with two small fries and two Italian ice drinks (watermelon and mango sweet tea). The sandwiches were so flavorful. Great amount of meat and cheese and generous fresh veggies on top. The bread had a great chew to it, and they were served slightly warm/toasty. The Italian ice drinks were delicious. The watermelon one tasted like a watermelon ice paleta! Not too sweet, but perfectly satisfying. The mango sweet tea was good as well but not as good as the watermelon! The (small) fries were generous and served with FREE sides of that delicious original ranch! This place was clean, easily accessed and great prompt service. PIZZA AND EEGEES COMBINED! So based on reading other reviews I found out that this is owned by the original owners and creators of Eegee's! I brought my Tucson native boyfriend to be the judge on the taste. Browsing the menu I saw that they have a few Italian ice flavors and a daily flavor that rotates! They also have a snack box which is half of a pizza and lots of fries for $6.50. Our total was only $11 and change for a snack box and a medium Italian ice! My boyfriend said that the ranch was absolutely delicious just like Eegee's ranch. The fries remind him of the old Eegee's fries which are sometimes too salty there now. The Italian ice is less sweet than the Eegee's formula now that they have changed it. I really liked it here because it wasn't too sweet or sugary. The outside was for the drive-through there was no fentanyl heads or crackheads hanging out so I know so I didn't think I'd get mugged walking in the Circle K Drive-through cashier was quick. She was friendly and confident. I ordered a tuna sub It was $8.70 with the tax total I got a toasted white bun. Small hoagie had lettuce I believe, bell peppers, tomatoes, and tuna salad however, they did add some sugar to the tuna salad, which I don't appreciate. Locals geek out over this place because it's a spinoff of Tucson's flagship sandwich chain, but in reality it's fast-casual pizza with some simple sandwiches and a drive-thru. The pizza is cheap and plentiful--I can't quite finish a whole one by myself--but it is not that good. All three I have tried had *way* too much cheese, to the extent it easily outweighed the razor-thin dough hiding underneath. They are still edible, and it is neat that for less than ten bucks you can get a 'snack box' with a 1/2 pizza and some fries. If you thought Eegee's was an above-average sandwich shop and you are upset that it changed ownership, you will be in heaven here. If you subscribe to the belief that "all pizza is good pizza" you will be in heaven here. If you are a drunk or stoned passenger in your friend's car, and they surprise you with a box of fries and gloopy slices, you will be in absolute paradise. We ordered a meat ball sub, and an Italian with ranch fries and pizza fries. Everything was perfect. I felt like a kid experiencing a long since forgotten meal. We live on the Eastside of Tucson and since we've given up on Eegee's I wanted to come support the original! My mom and I shared the Italian 3 meat hero, some fries with ranch and a lime and Orange pineapple ice. The bread was really good! Crispy crusty on the outside and soft on the inside. The sandwich was yummy as well as the fries with ranch. The drinks were good but the orange pineapple was a bit too chunky for me ( personal preference I guess) The service was good. Except the dining room had no music but the crew was very loud and had their music loud. Maybe if the music in the dining room was louder we wouldn't be able to hear the crew yelling back and forth. That doesn't bother me but the cleanliness of the dining room wasn't great. No one was in the restaurant but many of the tables were still dirty. The windows on the doors were super dirty and the trays felt like they hadn't been washed. It just seems as though everything in the dining room from signs to tables needs to be wiped down. Other than that we enjoyed our visit. We want our local businesses to succeed so we hope this is heard with an open mind. We will be back for sure read more

The pizzas were served quick. Both were thin crust pizzas slightly larger than. Personal size pizza. The ingredients seemed fresh and were ample to be flavorable.
