    Drinks kiosk (5/2023)

Firehouse Subs does a lot of philanthropic work throughout the year - discount days to honor various professions and then periodic big donation days too where profits go to xyz. Today my son and I came after a hard day's yard work to enjoy a bogo for teacher appreciation day. Turns out it was yesterday! But the mgr, Aaron, immediately ok'd it anyway after I showed him my creds, salvaging my cool dad rep! Their hot subs are the way to go. We ordered a medium NY Steamer and Smokehouse beef/cheddar brisket. At 8 inches and about $10 each they're on the pricier side but - as so many others noted - the bread is better than most and the meats are lean and thinly shaved. Altogether a really good sub. I'd probably tackle a large next time though. Fountain drinks are self-serve and dispense via a digital kiosk where you can choose from two dozen various sodas and MinuteMaid juices (Coke products). I love those dispensers, even if deciding can be a bit daunting. Clean, gender specific bathrooms and ample private parking round out the experience. Oh and it's right next door to Cold Stone!

I love the concept behind the business and the influences it draws from fire departments. There are real fire jackets from the Tucson Fire Department hung up on the wall by the registers! As for the subs, there weren't any wow factors. I have nothing to critique on, besides for the price! It's a little pricey for what they are. They were still yummy though! Just an average sub place.

Was it the mood for something maybe a little bit healthier and so we went past firehouse subs and decided to give it a whirl. It was not a normal time to get food for there was virtually nobody in the place. It was nice and clean though. I liked the patio area. I tried the spicy Cajun chicken with the loaded soup. It was pretty good. The service was professional and nice. Price was alright. I like the idea of supporting emergency services. Overall it was good and I'd have it again. Not my top for sandwich places.

It speaks for itself. This is a ham sub. It comes with a moldy sandwich, lays, and a cookie.

There's mold on this sandwich and it was a work luncheon. Ew ew ew ew. Never again. I hope you can all see the picture. Other than that everything else is good but simple fact that they are not sanitary is insane.

Michael was the person who made my meal. I was in a hurry and he was just so fast and so nice. His customer service was everything especially during this time of the year. He went over my order and made sure it was to my liking and what I ordered. Love his professionalism. We need more ppl like him. Thank You Michael.

I had a medium sub ($7.69 normally, but I got it free for my birthday because I'm on their mailing list). Food and service were both good.

Noon, on our way out of town moving her home, I made it our final stop. Should've come here years earlier. I had no idea of the longevity of The Sausage Deli until entering this place. I read the framed articles on the wall and learned how beloved they are. They mainly have sandwiches and are made to order, old school style. The sides are prepackaged in the deli case at the counter. I had the Italian Grinder, my wife had the Salami Sub and my daughter had a make your own sandwich. I had the sides of macaroni salad and potato salad. These sides were bland but maybe that's to compliment the flavorful sandwiches? I loved my Italian grinder and all the items inside it. The prices are fairly reasonable here and the service was great. You order at the counter and they call out your number when it's ready. Thinking back on my experience here, I don't remember seeing sausages anywhere....Hmmmm......Wonder why?

I went during a lunch break and the food both myself and my coworkers got all ended up being incredible. There is seating in the back of the store but a massive selection of all kinds of Italian goods, both in freezers and in a deli-style section. The menu has all kinds of classic favorites and I tried a sandwich that had fresh burrata, which was the exact thing I was craving. The prices are decent for the size of the portions and I also ended up snagging a bag of Baci candies on my way out! The feast of the seven fishes is our yearly tradition during the holidays, and when it rolls around, Angie (I'm not making that up, that is her real name--I told you she was Italian) will grab stuff from Roma by the armful. I am of the opinion that the prepared foods from here can range from the, "Mama Mia!" (really really tasty) to the, "Eh, Cosi cosi" (you know, it passes) range. I'm a people-person and love to observe the patrons. Many of the customers appear to be of Italian descent and, like my bettah half seem to really-enjoy the traditional and authentic staples of, Il Bel Paese (The beautiful country). Food from many different regions of Italy are available. The decor is kinda fun. In my mind, when I think of what an Italian trattoria should look like, this place comes to mind... it's got the classic red and white checkered table clothes, maps and landscapes of Italy adorning the walls, and an energy of a place that is well cared for. A religious icon or two will also dot the interior landscape. The aroma of slowly simmering tomato gravy, cut garlic, roasted meats, chopped onions, and olive oil fills the air. It's an experience. Sometimes life imitates art, and hand to gawd, on my mutha's life... the last times I went, der was deeze tree guys sitt'n in dah corner. I swears, dey cou'da been cast members from the Sopranos. Ayhhyyee! Was'amatta, youse? The staff is generally warm and enthusiastic about their offerings. They generally have been super helpful, and if it's not too busy, are more than happy to make suggestions for new items or how best to prepare the items we have purchased. When we have visited, 90% of the time, the place was crack'n (meaning: super busy and full of life!). Sometimes, as we drive away and I take a peek at the receipt, I will exclaim, "Davvero! È così caro!" Loosely translated that means, "Really! That's so expensive!" My wife, who only knows a few words of Italian, has no idea that I was pooping my pantaloni over the cost... but, bless her heart, she seems to think the food here is worth every penny. Generally, I agree. So next time you go, remember to leave the gun, but take the cannoli. Mangiare!
