Service & Atmosphere Our server, Marcos, seated us immediately and was prompt, attentive, sociable, and genuinely friendly throughout our visit. The rest of the staff we interacted with were very friendly as well. The interior is festive and well decorated, with lots of TVs and music playing. The music was almost loud, but not quite enough to bother us, and overall the place had a really fun, lively vibe. The menus were a little dirty, but honestly, that didn't matter much to us. More importantly, the tables were clean, and I was really impressed with their salsa and toppings bar. Everything looked clean and fresh, the ingredients were properly temperature controlled, and they even had grilled green onions being kept warm. Such a simple but GREAT idea! Food The food was awesome and on point. They cook their meats over mesquite wood, and you can absolutely taste it. Their carne asada tacos are INCREDIBLE and, in my opinion, the best in Tucson. My husband has raved about this place for years, and after this visit, I completely understand why. I also tried a fish taco and added some of their "pico de gallo coleslaw" from the toppings bar. I skipped the sauce that came on the side, and honestly didn't miss it--I loved the taco exactly how I made it. Next, I tried an adobada taco. This one was okay, but nothing particularly great compared with everything else we had. We also shared a Sonoran dog, and it came out steaming hot and absolutely stacked with ingredients. It was exactly what you'd expect from a good Tucson Sonoran dog. Then we had the Cabeza Carmelo, which has always been my favorite. It STILL has that WOW flavor! Whatever cheese they use on it, we love it. The combination of the cabeza, cheese, and mesquite flavor is just ridiculously good. The chunks of beef pulled apart as if they'd been braised for hours. Fantastic! We also ordered some toritos. They came out crispy and steaming hot with a creamy inside--very good. Their Michelada was nicely balanced and satisfying, too. Overall We had a really pleasant time. Great service, awesome food, friendly staff, and a fun atmosphere. One of my favorite things about BK is still that toppings and salsa bar. Having everything fresh, clean, and available so you can build your tacos exactly how you want them is such a good idea. And don't let the somewhat strange neighborhood or part of town scare you away. BK's is absolutely BOMB-DOT-COM! We'll definitely be back.
