Today I got to carne Asada tacos and a fish taco I'm not surprised the fish tacos made with tilapia from craploa China, but the Kearny Asada was terrible. They put plenty of meat and salsa, but the meat had no freaking taste whatsoever. They didn't even put any salt in the meat. It was gross whatever happened to going to Luke Ville Mexico, and getting those awesome fatty greasy tacos before you go to Rockypoint I mean come on tacos are pretty damn easy to make. Nico's has been here at this original location for approximately 30 years or so. It amuses me that they have 3 stars, yet they are always packed on Friday and Saturday nights and with a 10 to 20 plus minute wait in the drive through. For "fast food" style Mexican Food it is actually pretty good stuff. If you want "fine dining" you have an endless array to choose from around Tucson. But please do not compare Nico's with them, as that would simply not be fair to do nor would it make sense. Having said all of this, I personally like the Carne Asada burrito - add rice and beans. For the money, the meat is actually pretty tasty, the tortilla is light and fluffy with a slight grilled crispiness to it and the pico also tastes like it is made daily. If you are looking for someone to save your life 24 hours a day, after you leave the night club or the ER, there is no place in Tucson like Nico's to fill that bill for your growling tummy. read more

In Covid, the burrito shrink by about half the price went up astronomical, and then they charged you extra outside of the post cost for beef without declaring it I was kind enough not to report this to Attorney General and sue them for fraud Last month it was super late and I was coming home from work so it was open and I ordered a Carnitas Asada It was about all bread tortilla with a little tiny Schmear of meat and loaded with veggies and Sorrento and onions and once again it was about half to 60% the size as it was before Biden They did lower the price some, but I'll never go back . There's so many other taco shops you can go to. However, if they do return to their large huge burritos filled with meat, even if I have to pay $20, then I'll come But I'm not gonna pay for a wad of flower in the shape of a tortilla seasoned limited with beef Maybe it was my chef maybe they screwed up my order and just used what was on hand such as a taco roll But I just don't need to get screwed paying a price around $14. I literally had to go to McDonald's and eat their garbage to fill up since I finish work that evening. Nico's has been my go to breakfast burrito at various locations around town but this location can be inconsistent. They're currently charging $8.99 for a burrito, which is high compared to other places like Pacos or Barista del Barrio. They always add up charges.. but you don't find out until after you order and they have a random sign on the window. It'd be nice just to know up front what the cost will be. read more

Ordered a Breakfast Burrito; egg, chorizo, potato and cheese and horchata to drink. Not only was the burrito inedible, 90% of its content was potato. Absolutely UNSAT! The worst horchata I ever had. Stopped there today for an order of rolled tacos with guacamole and cheese. OMG they charge enough but when opened was surprised how much smaller the the tacos were! They used to be almost as long as the tray their served in. Now they're shorter than the forks they give you. Even the texture of the meat was chewy that also has so tough "nervy" pieces. Spouse ordered green chile combo with 2 tortillas. Said the chile was tasteless and the tortillas were like chewing on rubber. Ended up throwing away. Sad that consumers continue to get taken on the quality of their food. Use to enjoy now I won't go back again. If your going to raising the prices because of the "cost of food" at least make the portion sizes more suitable for those who go to your establishment. This review I fear may be longer than I want or my readers want. However, it's important to explain why they are getting two stars. Firstly, let me be up front I don't really care for the food from here but my Husband really likes the potato egg and cheese burrito. So, typically late nights, I'm sent to go get him his craving. So, when I arrived I noticed there was four cars in the drive through. So, I looked to the hours and there was a sign that said "dining room reopening" below that it said 24 Hours and below that it said drive-thru. The signage wasn't clear. I decided to jump out and try to get food in dining room. Sure enough it was locked. So, I jump back in my car and another car joined line but one one left; there was four cars a head of me. (The entire process took 35 minutes, not ok) Next, I finally get to ordering station and the speaker was basically shot. I could hardly hear the lady taking my order and she could hardly hear me. It reminded me of the old days when one would call over seas and you have to yell to be heard and then it then would go clear and you're like why is he yelling. I requested the burrito, loaded fries, and a large Coke. When I get to the window the first thing I notice is a sign requesting we have a mask on (no problem at all, I prefer being safe). However, what I notice is my drive-thru guy is wearing a mask, but not the workers behind him. I digress. Next, sign I see a sign basically saying if they make a mistake and you're missing an item you must tell them at the window or they will not refund or remake the food for you. This sign it's slightly rude to me because it makes it out there the majority of their customers are thiefs. They may have a few people who may take advantage, but the vast majority are good. I digress again. So, when the guy comes to the window I ask him to read me back my order. When he does the coke wasn't on the order. He said let me add that and gave me a total of 32 dollars and some change. I hand him my card and before he runs it, I request that he give me a receipt after he runs it (because math wasn't adding up). He said no problem. When he hands it to me it's just a transaction receipt for my credit card. I then asked him for a detailed receipt. When I received it the total was only $26.53 I didn't mention the discrepancy because he ran my card for the $26.53 and not the $32. It made me wonder if I wouldn't have requested this receipt if I would have been charged the $32 and not the correct amount. When I received my detailed receipt it was crumpled up like it was thrown in the trash. If this store is going to require its customers to go through the bag before leaving they should at least give a detailed receipt. It seems like every time I'm in a drive through my husband or someone else in the car will add something and by the time I get to the window I can't recall everyone's order. So, they must certainly should give a detailed receipt. Also, the receipt showed I paid cash but I paid with my credit card. However, again I believe the majority of people are good. So, I considered this a mistake and I did not consider this when I decided on two stars. The policy on the window (signage) is certainly considered in my rating, but not the "mistake". Next, the food I ordered the loaded fries with carne asada. This entire dish severely lacked seasoning. The cheese didn't really have a taste but it had consistency of melted rubber. The fries were good but again lacked salt. The Pico on the fries was ok, but wasn't special and again not seasoning. My husband enjoyed his burrito which is why they're getting two stars. However, I noticed he opened the burrito and seasoned it. (That says everything) The value for money doesn't match at all. Finally, I noticed the open sign laying on the ground next to the drive-thru which to me perfectly shows this restaurants commitment to what they're doing. Lackluster at best. read more

A 24-hour taco place on Campbell. Need I say more? Unfortunately, we came during dinner time, not for late-night munchies at midnight. Thus I did not appreciate much about this place. When we walked in, there was an overwhelmingly astringent cleaning product smell (note: this was before any concern of coronavirus). Our orders are also mediocre. I got the fish tacos, and though the fish itself was okay (surprisingly decent actually), I felt the salsa and tortilla itself could have been much better. Maybe I'm just spoiled from the excellent fresh ly made torillas other places have. Unless you have late night cravings, I wouldn't come here. I haven't been to a nicos in a very long time, ( 15+ years) went there last week pretty late at night, not too many places open late night here in town, ordered a Machaca burrito, it had a good portion of Machaca and vegies mixed with eggs, it was very tasty. Had the cravings again today and drove across town to get another Machaca burrito even tho there was one closer to where I live. This time I was very disappointed with the ratio of machaca to vegies to eggs. It was like 96% eggs to machaca compare to last time 75% eggs to machaca. It's like biting into an egg burrito. Nico's is perfect if you can't make it to spots like Maico, Anita's, or La Fresita. Standard burritos, nothing-special tortillas, big portions. Don't come here expecting a culinary experience, but if you have a hankering for Mexican fast food and nothing else is available, definitely make a stop at Nico's. read more

The food here is good. But I can't give a great review to any restaurant that is packaging their food in styrofoam and plastic. We had been to a Nico's elsewhere and the burritos were wrapped in foil and paper. Here we got plastic and styrofoam. Meanwhile, the ocean is flooded with plastic, just like the earth. I eat here all the time, you have the best burritos and super fries; however you changed the green salsa. The only salsa I get here. It's super liquidy now and there's no physical way to not make a mess when putting it on my burrito. Okay, so... actual rating is 3.25. Is there really anything that hasn't been said about Tucson's vast array of 24/7 taquerias? Once you've been to one, you've pretty much been to them all. Nico's is no exception other than the fact that they're one of the few that doesn't use the "Beto" or "Berto" suffix. This is the first time I've been to their Campbell location, though. You'll notice right of the bat that the sound coming from the horn-shaped speaker on the drive-thru ordering board is so weak and distorted, that the person taking your order is almost inaudible. They can hear you though, and the service is prompt, so that's good. Their horchata was pretty much beige, and in my experience, that's usually indicative of a flavorful example. It was indeed very flavorful. The al pastor burrito I had, while having nice flavor, was let down by a ridiculous amount of grease--like they made absolutely no effort to drain it, and it was clearly visible leaking through the wrapper. This area is what caused the bulk of the star deduction. On the whole, I would recommend this location for a bite to eat. Just be aware of meat not being well-drained. read more

I called this place six different times with only getting four answers on the other end and all I was trying to do was ask about if they use lard in their tortillas since I'm interested in ordering a vegetarian burrito. The guy kept hanging up on me and I had to keep calling back and then he would hang up on me again and I will call back and he would hang up and call back and then he would briefly answer my question, without much understanding of what I was asking and then he would hang up again! Way to go service worker. Tired calling again to ask " do you use lard in your flower burritos?" And with NO RESPONSE. I went out for some Nico's around 9:30pm and ordered a shrimp burrito. It was basic with no sauce inside. My major disappointment with Nicks is for a 24 hour Mexican joint why is there no salsa bar?? I could go to a variety of other Mexican places within one mile that all have salads bars. Nico's needs to step it up!! The WORST customer service. The cashier with the blue cowboy's hoodie had the most offensive and disgusting attitude towards us. For starters, he had gotten our order wrong and then proceeded to call us "nigga" repeatedly as he spoke and tried to get us to go around back in line in reorder our food. Unfortunately, that will not be happening as YOU (cashier)made the mistake so YOU need to fix your mistake. He refused to get us our California burrito and told us to "get the fuck out of here, I already turned off the speaker so I didn't get your order." This location is open 24 hours, which I appreciate. I often crave late night munchies, so it is a blessing that this place is very close and readily available. I love their super fries! It is the only item I order off their menu. The portions are large and they give you a good amount of pico, sour cream, cheese, and guac. I have tried carne asada fries from different restaurants around town and Nico's tops them all. It is a pretty decent Mexican fast food joint. read more

Nicos has the BESTTTTT breakfast burritos. Omg. I order the sausage and potatoes. They use French fry-cut potatoes. I absolutely love the taste texture inside the burrito.
