What a cute restaurant. We arrived and had almost no wait. The hard part is that we arrived at almost noon, so the difficult decision of breakfast or lunch began. I thought I knew what I was having, the southwestern skillet and then realized there was another side to the menu. Oh no, now what to choose! We decided to start with the Crabcake appetizer. Let me preface this input with the information that I lived in Maryland for years, so crabcakes anywhere else don't usually stand a chance. We decided to give them a shot after our waitress said they are not frozen, and made in-house. Four little round crab cakes arrived and they were tasty. They were not lump crab, but the drizzle of sauce and salad balanced them nicely. My dad was on a seafood in the desert kick, so he did the lobster and crab omelette. My mom tried the bubble waffle, and that was the winner of fun and yummy for the day! The waffle was crispy on the edges and the clotted cream was divine. How can bubbles, waffles and creamy frosty topping go wrong! Dad's omelette was a nice combination and he was very happy. I did end up with the southwestern skillet and it was a great way to start the day. The crispy edges of cheesy potatoes was my favorite part. Wandered in with the aim of a filling brunch after a race. Staff, ambience, table/settings, were all terrific. We ordered the Loaded Potato Skillet $15, Dutch Baby $14, and Spanish Chorizo omelette $15. Based on photos the cast iron pancake (Dutch Baby) looked uber sweet with both honey drizzle and powdered sugar. The waitress said some folks get honey on the side and we so elected as well. The potato skillet was huge and very hot. However, the chorizo omelette was lukewarm, through-and-through. The chorizo is sliced sausage, fyi. It was delicious but don't expect crumbled meat (like in a Mx burrito). Eggs for both the skillet (scrambled) and omelette were moist and fluffy... just wish the omelette was hot/fresh from stove too. The Dutch Baby arrived with honey drizzle all over and the waitress apologized and promptly offered to have it remade before we even noticed. But that would take another 15 minutes so we just declined. Like the other skillet the Dutch was very hot and, yes, super sweet. Controlling the honey drizzle (and canceling the powdered sugar) is definitely the way to go. It's essentially sizzling in butter within the skillet so it's already nicely rich. I was very excited to try teaspoon's new location on River. Ambiance was nice and servers were great. The food was unfortunately less exciting. I ordered the chilaquiles. The dish was served without the eggs (on the menu just forgotten) and it was a little onion-y for my preference. The bubble waffle wasn't anything special and had a minimal amount of fruit. The pancakes and drinks were yummy. I wanted to try out the viral cookie-croissants. They took awhile to come out but definitely lived up to the hype. Overall, some parts were great, others were not. Once we were sat, Service was delightful and very attentive. We enjoyed a couple of bloody Mary's... Mine was spicy and fantastic. We also enjoyed the Chilaquiles and a southwestern bowl... Both were off the charts. The interior is beautiful, the service is very friendly, and the vibe is super cool. We were able to sign up in advance for wait list and we were seated when we arrived. They have a huge outdoor seating area, longer wait for larger parties if you want to sit inside, but no surprise because it was a Sunday morning. We are from the Midwest, so biscuits and gravy is typically a milk gravy with sausage or bacon as flavoring. The gravy here has a cheese flavor to it, I enjoyed it but my husband did not. I had the veggie omelette, was a large portion and was big enough for two people, lots of mushrooms which I loved. I decided to try the new restaurant location for teaspoon. I met some friends today for brunch to try it out. I have to say that this location is super Chic. I love the soft tones and the warm inviting atmosphere within this restaurant. I had the lobster and crab omelette and it was excellent. I also had The chocolate chip croissant which was very good as well. The service was excellent and my coffee was always topped off. I love Teaspoons! I've gone to the original since they first opened. I'm excited that there is a new location. The restaurant has a wonderful vibe, and it's right next to Whole Foods, so you can drop by after to do your shopping. Parking is also easy since there's a large parking lot. Absolutely delicious! We are big fans of the other location and we were really excited to try this new foothills spot. First off, sensational patio! The area is an easy one to find parking because it's in the Whole Foods parking lot. We were able to easily add our name to an on-line waiting list (we had a large party of 6) and were able to get in almost immediately. All of the staff were really friendly, attentive and answered all of our questions. Our friend's visiting from LA were so impressed and loved their dishes. Our table split the Dutch baby pancake and the bubble waffle and they were perfectly cooked, and so delicious. I enjoyed every bite of my crab Benedict, with amazing poached eggs. My husband had a filet mignon omelette and said it was one of the best he'd had. All the lattes, coffee's, and cocktails were on point! We wanted to order a turkey sandwich, which comes on whole wheat bread, but my sister cannot eat whole wheat. We simply asked if it could be made on sourdough instead, and were surprised to be told there would be a $4 upcharge just to switch the bread. That felt unreasonable, so we decided not to order the sandwich and chose a hamburger instead. Unfortunately, the burger was disappointing and not very good. Overall, it was a frustrating experience. A small accommodation like changing bread shouldn't come with such a steep charge, and the quality of the food didn't make up for it. read more
