Corned beef in hash browns, scrambled eggs topped with Gouda sauce.

10:30 Thursday. 3 big parties waiting. Staff scrambling, sweating and serving sweetly. Energetic breakfast crowd, upbeat, sunny dining room. Food was piping hot, savory and succulent. Corned beef was perfectly seasoned and cooked. Finally, the pecan roll pancake was heaped with cinnamon roll goodness and a pecan in every bite!

A bit of a wait today, but worth it! Staff was pleasant. Strawberry pancake was absolutely delicious! And the corned beef hash was cooked perfect

I went here for breakfast on a Sunday morning and although there was a wait it went by pretty quickly. We sat outside, but inside options were available. The menu was mostly egg Benedict pancakes and waffles. The food was plenty full and I did enjoy the flavor. The price was very decent as well for the food and value that you get. Overall, I would return here to try other items. The service was great. The ambience was chill and casual.

I'm surprised the wait time wasn't longer after trying the food. I get why it made the Top 100 list! They have a great balcony area where pets are allowed and staff was very nice. Sadly, they were out of Prickly Pear mimosas, so I got a Wild Berry Mimosa without OJ and my guy got the same with OJ. We both agreed it was way better without the OJ. The wild berry mix they use was tasty and not overly sweet. Foodwise, we got the Berry Danish French Toast and the Southwest Smoked Brisket Tots (cheese sauce on side, no chipotle aioli). They brought the tots wrong the first time, but quickly brought us a correct version. It was really good! We actually preferred it without the cheese sauce since it made it feel much heavier. The brisket was cooked wonderfully and had great texture and the bacon was nice and crispy. The tots themselves were a bit disappointing and needed to be crispier. The french toast was soo good! It was honestly unbelievable how amazing this dish was. The french toast itself was perfect texture and delicious on it's own. The creme an-glaise was soo tasty and really elevated the dish. They gave a good amount of a variety of berries and didn't overuse the agave syrup. The whipped cream arrived already partially melted, but it's made in-house so we weren't upset. That's the only acceptable form of whipped cream in my opinion. 4.5 rounded to 5

If you can get past the long wait times then Baja is going to be your favorite brunch place in Tucson. I love Baja so much and recommend it to everyone I can. The food is amazing and the servers are all so nice. It can get a little crowded but that's only because everybody loves it! I recommend getting the Alcatraz, its insanely good.

Shared a great BLT and some tater tots here for a light lunch. Looks like they are busy all the time ' came highly recommended.

Wow! Popular diner with quality food and big portions Went here last weekend and was very impressed. It was pretty crowded and we were quoted about a 30 min wait time but luckily were seated in about 15 minutes. It's a large location but definitely recommend coming early if you have a large group. Food was delicious. Prices are high for a diner but cheaper than other brunch spots and are justified through the large portions. My favorite was the hash browns. The shredded potatoes were cooked perfectly with a crispy exterior and smooth creamy interior. The cinnamon roll pancake was also a huge standout. The portions are so large so they're great for sharing. The service was attentive and friendly. We got constant refills of coffee and were offered a free coffee to go. Sometimes they offer some extra food too but didn't this time. Definitely a spot worth the hype.

This spice is really busy, and we had to wait for our table, but it was worth it. He sat at the bar overlooking the kitchen, so we got to see all the delicious food, but the kitchen was cranking out. Anthony is a perfect server. He is so friendly and helpful. I wish all servers had his personality. I started with a fantastic Bloody Mary and ice water with lemon. We decided to build our omelette with crispy bacon, American cheese, mushrooms, and peppers for food. The portions are large, and we could have just eaten all of it, but we were hungry, so we also got the avocado toast. We devoured both meals. If we revisited the area, we would be tempted to return because the food was delectable and the staff was friendly.

Baja Cafe is one of my favorite breakfast spots in Tucson. It's a great place if you're looking for a solid breakfast with a mix of traditional dishes and Southwestern flavors. The service is great too. On my last visit, my girlfriend and I saw how busy it was and decided to leave because we didn't feel like waiting. As we were walking out, an employee actually ran after us to let us know they could seat us at the bar. That small gesture really stood out. It showed they genuinely care about their customers, instead of just letting us go. The vibe of the restaurant feels very Tucson, with lots of U of A decor on the walls. I ordered the Huevos Rancheros, which were tasty but honestly you can't go wrong with their Snickerdoodle Pancakes or Scooby Snacks. Those always hit the spot.

The cinnamon roll pancakes really are that good. Sweet, but not cloying! The omelets are delicious if a bit simple, but they do simple very well. Expect longer waits on the weekend, but even still the service is pretty fast.

One word- AMAZING! This place is definitely a gem. I had brunch here with colleagues and enjoyed every bit of my first visit to Baja Cafe. Our waiter was friendly and attentive + he took time to explain the menu to us. I ordered the Corned Beef and Eggs. The corned beef was tender and full of flavor. It paired nice with my poached eggs and cheese sauce. All of those ingredients were on top of a hash brown. It was divine! I highly recommend this menu item. I also ordered the S'mores latte. The iced, sweet concoction was delicious. It's a must try for any s'more and/or chocolate lover. This place hit all things for me-great service, flavor, and a great vibe. I'll be sure to stop by the next time I am in Tucson.

Finally headed over to try out Baja Cafe on Campbell and 10/10 glad we did! It was packed - always a good sign - but we were seated right away. Our server was also the "bartender" but he stayed on top of it and we were happy with our service. I ordered a iced caramel latte- the menu did say that it had whipped cream and caramel on top and mine did not come with that. But when I asked for whipped cream as a side to add, they took care of that right away. We ordered the lemon blueberry pancake as well as one of the benedicts (Roadrunner) and breakfast sandwich aka Skooby Snak. The pancake was insane, it was so big an incredibly filling. The blueberries were so fresh and the lemon curd was perfectly tarp, and the crispy edges on the pancake were heavenly. This may be the best pancake I have ever eaten. The breakfast sandwich was small, but mighty, and I slammed that down so fast I probably could have eaten three more of them!! The benedict was massive and also very filling - while it was big and very tasty, the price comparison in relation to the other menu items and their size and taste had me struggling. It would absolutely be perfect to share. And that would justify the cost. Otherwise, I would definitely be back for a pancake and a sandwich any day of the week. It's a hustling and bustling kind of place. They turn over the tables quickly and the vibes are chill.

    King Kong

The food was incredible, the lemon pancakes were a perfect combination of sweet and not too rich. The burrito was phenomenal, packed full and the cheese crust was a nice touch. The King Kong was a very pleasant surprise and all the flavors meshed together very well. While the food was awesome, the service was even better. In the midst of SLAMMED graduation weekend Sunday morning Chance was AMAZING and will be the reason I came back!

That whole St. Philip's area always has a great energy, and UPH is a big part of that. There's usually a crowd, live music or sports on, and it feels like one of those places where you can bring friends from out of town and know it'll be a fun time. Food is consistently solid. The grilled chicken sandwich is my go-to and it's good every time. We both usually get one, and a lot of the time we'll add buffalo wings, which are some of our favorites in Tucson. Good flavor, good texture, and always reliable. If anything, the wings could always use a little more sauce, but they're still one of the better orders on the menu. The only real issue, and it happens pretty often, is the service speed. Everyone there is friendly, but the place always feels understaffed, especially when it's busy. We've had multiple times sitting outside in the Arizona heat where it takes 15-20 minutes just to get water to the table, and you start wondering if you should go up to the bar yourself to get things moving. Once service gets going everything is fine, but getting that first round of attention can take longer than it should for how often this place fills up. Even with that, we keep coming back. The food is consistent, the atmosphere is great, and the plaza has a real sense of community that makes it easy to hang out there for a while. It's one of our go-to spots in Tucson, and it's still somewhere we bring friends when they're visiting. Food 7.5 Ambience 8 Service 7 Price 7 7.4 overall C Great place to spend time, just don't expect everything to happen quickly when it's busy.

What I also enjoy: The breakfast food sticks to the basics, but is done well. They make surprisingly decent pizzas, if you're in the mood for that. Suffice to say she absolutely raved - placing it on par with many of the Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurants she has sampled back east. And, we agreed, when Michelin publishes its first-ever SouthWest U.S. edition later this year (2026) I recognize getting a star is a mighty fete but if Tito/Pep does not at least make its S.W. Bib list I will know the fix is in. We started with the Queso Fundido ($13) - with chewy cheese, sauteed mushrooms, and beef chorizo it was a perfect blend of meaty/savory/fatty. We also ordered the Grilled Octopus ($17). What a surprise this was, the crunchy roasted pepper flakes and unusually soft grilled octopus it kicked the pants off of "calamari-style." We inquired and the way they remove the typical rubberiness is by poaching the octopus tentacles for 5(!) hours before grilling. You Go chef Martinez! For our entree we opted for the day's special: deep fried whole Red Snapper for two ($85)... as did about a half-dozen other tables in this intimate 20-tabled venue. See pics as a written description is inadequate. The crisp was excellent and the tender moist fish just beneath, exquisite. The roasted jalapenos were other worldly - somehow only mild heat and with a subtle sweet/acid presence... totally and entirely edible. As fantastic as the vinegar slaw was atop our self-made fish tacos, the tomatillo puree was ridiculous - so fresh and not sour that its scent was nearly as strong as its flavor. We asked again, how?! and were told they first cook the tomatillos for 3 hours. Folks, the effort involved to present this kind of meal would be nearly impossible to do at home for even double the cost. We concluded with the ganache dessert ($12). While so richly decadent it was possibly too rich, only by virtue of its size... it needs to be shared! We were deeply torn over that or the olive oil cake and will opt for the latter... next year, Lol. For drinks we ordered two glasses of their "red blend" (really good for a simple blend) and then the Pie Allen after dinner cocktail ($13) - an interesting combination of prickly pear liquor and port. The staff were amazing - not just in timely attentiveness (a minimum requirement at this level) but especially in terms of being able to field our deep curiosities about several of the dishes. Due to our "layers" of ordering we stayed an easy 2+ hours and were never rushed. Parking will get tight at peak times but everyone will be accommodated. Pre-tip we were at $165 - a special occasion outing for sure but, we both agreed, an (almost) bargain. At this level of quality and degree of effort in Chicago or Miami (places she recently lived) would be closer to $250 for two. Small note: three years ago this began, now it's the norm - restaurants are calculating the tip based upon a total that's After the tax has been added. It's a minor but, nonetheless, unconsented-to, inflation of the tip. Just an fyi :)
