I have had a couple of outstanding lunches here and at the Campbell location but two different, recent breakfast visits cemented a "solid" 4-star evaluation. On a late-morning Saturday we put our name down (25 minute wait) and ran a couple of pre-planned errands knowing that would likely be the case. Returned on time and our name was next. We were disappointed to learn that their famous Liege waffle was sold out (and were advised they frequently sell out by 9-ish on weekends). We got their cinnabon french toast and the day's special which was a concoction of 4-5 different proteins, including pork, shrimp, beans, bacon, eggs plus several sauces. Food took nearly 20 minutes to be delivered on this crowded wknd visit. The french toast was disappointing - literally a cinnamon roll dipped (though just barely and just on one side?) in egg batter and than pan-fried. It was painfully sweet and lacking in that notable, delectable, fully-dunked batter. The special was at first intriguing but then absolutely overwhelming with just way too many random flavors... themeless, to find a fitting word. Staff was terrific despite the fullhouse and a bottomless $2 cup of joe is a wonderful throwback. Fast forward two weeks and we made it in for their weekday early morning breakfast menu (6-8am). That included the Wyatt Earp ($10.25) with layers consisting of eggs, hash, shredded pork, beans, rice. And (not on the early morning specials) we finally got the Liege berry waffle ($18.50). Both were delivered piping hot and tasted delicious. We each got the respective sauces on the side (Hollandaise for the Wyatt and fresh creme and agave syrup for the Liege) and we were immensely glad we did so! The Wyatt barely needed any of the rich Hollandaise and the Liege was itself nicely sweet that we barely needed to even graze the waffle in the whipped cream (and none of the agave) to enjoy it. The berries were of good quality as well. Bonus, during the time we were there (roughly 7:45-8:30a) the venue was never more than half full. read more

Food- thoughtless and sloppy in flavor and presentation. I don't know how one messes up a breakfast burrito but none of the flavors inside the burrito complimented each other. The bean puree was also a disappointment- tasted over seasoned and old. The only enjoyable thing on the plate was the hashbrowns. Old, bad-tasting coffee served in a mug that looked like it had been pulled out of a dumpster. Service- inattentive Value - poor, $60 for two plates of slop. Definitely would never return and am puzzled by all of the flattering reviews that convinced me to try this place. read more

It is a small place but the food is sooo delicious. We went here for the 1st time after my son's graduation. Although it was busy on a mid morning Tuesday, we were seated within 5 minutes of checking in. They sat us at a back table next to the window looking out towards the road. Service was fast and friendly. Everything we ordered was phenomenal. The flavors were on point and everything was cooked well. The only complaint on food was the snickerdoodle was too much sugar on top for us. There was only 1 issue when there and that was something my husband noticed because he was facing the window. They seem to have a fly problem. In one photo I took, there was a graveyard of flies just on the window. We also had some on the side of our table. I know flies can be hard to avoid and they get especially bad during summer but it was not something nice to look at (for my husband since he was facing them) while eating. Overall though the food was so good and I can see why it has the high stars. read more

Yum. What is not to like about Baja Cafe. The food portions are enormous. Everything I have ordered here has been amazing and delicious. The cinnamon roll pancake is the best thing I have ever had. Lol. I can't stress how good it it. ( Sugary but yum ) The place gets crowded on weekend mornings. The service has always been amazing. They are quick to your table and very attentive. I like that you can eat at the counter or a table. It is a nice sized space and the atmosphere is welcoming. I think this is a top 3 place for breakfast in Tucson. read more

Myself and my wife decided to come here for Easter breakfast. Surprisingly they were able to get us some really quickly. I ordered eggs Benedict, my wife ordered bacon, eggs, and the snickerdoodle pancake. Food was fantastic as well as the Service. The only thing I don't know if Bre should cost $60? I know people have to make money. It just seemed a little bit high for a casual breakfast place. It's definitely worth the visit. Absolutely give them a try. Maybe next time we'll go back and just get the pancake. It's very big and two people can share it easily. read more

We brought my hubby for his first visit to Baja. Short wait at 10:30am on a Monday for a table. The interior is colorful and cozy. Our server was terrific! Our breakfast was fast and so delicious! My hubby loved his train wreck dish. He enjoyed all the flavors. My daughter's monsoon egg Benedict was delicious. The avocado with arugula and balsamic glaze, chef's kiss! First time trying eggs Benedict and she truly enjoyed it. My son devoured his burro. It was filled with eggs potatoes, bacon, green chile and cheese. I had the pancake combo but shared the amazing pancake with my family. Eggs cooked perfectly, delicious hash browns but I don't use salt as much anymore so the bacon tasted pretty salty to me. The pancake was delicious, fluffy, sweet, crunchy. You all need to get one! read more

Went in recently on a Saturday morning to the broadway location and managed to secure a patio table quickly. It was quite nice out there actually all shaded and such. Great service and over all ambiance as usual, I never feel rushed. But the star of the show was the "Oops Alexis burnt the meat" Benedict! So many flavors, everything worked together so well! This is another review that is extremely simple. Good food good service but it's very loud and the chairs are not the most comfy, maybe they don't want you to sit there and talk because they are very very busy! Great fresh dishes they are what they say. They are as far as their menu. If you go to either location, expect a little bit of a wait if you are at peak times. read more

I stop by Baja Cafe a few times a year and recently went back to visit again. Still 5/5 for flavor and price. You can't beat the cinnamon roll pancake. I also love that their breakfast plates are huge and can easily be shared. We sat on the shaded patio with the mister which was perfect since we have a new baby. We took a day trip to Tucson on a whim and figured we eat some Mexican food out there ! Baja cafe is the perfect place for breakfast classic with a Mexican twist! The menu is so well thought out. They honor the simple classics like waffles and eggs Benedict but add a little something special. All the ingredients are home made, like sauces and the beef; which is seasoned perfectly then slow cooked for 20 hours + ...There's so much love put in their meals!! I also had a prickly pear mimosas; dude it was deeeeelicious!! oh and the juice is fresh squeezed. Everything was really tasty and satisfying ! Tiny hole in the wall breakfast cafe. Popular place, good thing we went early (9/5). Our waitress Angela was fantastic and gave my husband a run for his money with wisecracks. I loved it. When our food came, I totally forgot to take pictures. I had the pancake combo and you could choose from 6 different types of pancakes. The combo came with eggs, hash browns and your choice of meat and choice of pancake. My husband had the French toast combo with the difference being the french toast. He didnt realize that the French Toast was made using a cinnamon roll type bread. It ended up being too sweet. He couldnt finish it but he ate the rest. This place is off the charts!! Open until 2pm everyday. We had breakfast & they serve Bloody Mary's & Mimosas. (They do have a cocktail menu as well). Corned Beef & Eggs, Berry Danish French Toast, Sausage & Hash Browns. I'm not sure where to start. The Corned Beef Hash is cooked over 12hrs. The most delicious I've ever had!! Cinnamon sliced Broche bread for French Toast w/a creme, powdered sugar and loaded with fresh fruit & toppedcw/whipped cream too. Unbelievable!! Sausage perfect & top notch. But the Hash Browns were huge & again, perfectly cooked. Wash that down with a great mixed Bloody Mary's & you have all the touches on a fantastic Brunch!! Bill $67 + tip. Shoutout to our server, Samantha, for providing outstanding service from start to finish. The food here is subpar and either a hodge podge of southwestern type ingredients, grifting on the locality of the restaurant. Or an overly sugary "mess". The service here is hit or miss, 4 out of 5 times you will get bad service! The last time I visited I was treated terribly. I even wrote a detailed Google review and was responded to very rudely by the owner. They don't respect their clientele or honest reviews because they think they are just flawless. They will report and attempt to have any reviews that don't say they are great removed! So beware, their reviews are inflated! read more

A small local brunch spot with large portion. There's a reason why people will wait in 100 degree weather to eat here. It was my first time and it was worth the wait. I ordered the eggs and pancake combo with snickerdoodle pancake. My MIL ordered build your own omelette. We got a free pancake for the table because it was my first time and picked the lemon blueberry pancake. While my eggs and bacon were simple, the pancakes stole the show. I rarely, if ever, allow a second visit when on vacation, but this tiny,unassuming, breakfast joint earned it! The first day we had just finished a 5mile hike, so we thought it was heaven on a plate. The 2nd day we showed up less active, but with family members added and we all agreed, BEST BREAKFAST EVER! I will dream about the Alcatraz breakfast platter! Where to start. if this place was not a 30 min drive we would be new regulars. Our 1st visit was wonderful. Chance was our server and host. He was fantastic. People on yelped loved this place so off I went. They open at 6:00 am, so they were perfect for my traveling trip. The menu, though only a few pages, is somewhat overwhelming with what all appear to be life changing choices. A whole page of Benedicts! I chose the Yosemite & waited for what I expected to be a breakfast delight. I was not disappointed. It was really good & all the flavors went together to make my tummy very happy. As soon as it arrived, in case I thought I wasnt getting enough to eat, Nicolle, my server, informed me that first timers get a snickerdoodle pancake...wow. Wow! This amazing happiest, funnest and excellent server, Angela , and the great food with friends was just great. I got their avocado toast with arugula , so huge that one slice of two , went home with me for dinner that night. Tasty, fresh and overall presentation of that, one friend's lemon blueberry pancake( an entire plate was size!) and my other friends regular pancake (same dinner plate size) was nice. It was quite busy inside, but had plenty of space between tables. Honestly, felt like Angela was our own personal server. She was hilarious and found we joked with her too, she was passionate with being great at her job, she loves what she does and as you see by the picture she gave me permission to post - that she just exudes happiness. We know hers is one of the hardest roles in the job world- so we just were thrilled to be a part of her world for an hour. We need more Angela's in this world!
