Lunch with my girlfriends is a highlight of my week. Today's adventure was Eclectic Cafe, at the corner of Sabino Canyon and Tanque Verde. Neither of us had been there in quite a while and were looking forward to it. The restaurant is clean and spacious and we were seated right away and given menus. Eclectic is a perfect name. Everyone should be able to find something that appeals: sandwiches, egg dishes, salads, Mexican, and more. I'd been craving a Rueben and my friend decided to try the taco salad, which is on the seasonal menu. The waiter complimented my choice, saying the Rueben is the best thing on the menu and likely the best Rueben I've ever had, so I was excited. He offered sweet potato fries as an add-on, and I took the offer. Our food arrived soon. I am a bit late on the photos, sorry. A couple bites are gone from my sandwich and the top layer of my friend's salad was already gone. The salad was billed as chicken, beans, cheese, and a host of others things, packed into a generously-sized bowl. She was sure the meat was pork based on taste and color and asked the waiter, but he said it was chicken. My sandwich was plump with corned beef, cheese and sauerkraut. It had lots of tasty sauce but the bottom bread was so soggy that it disintegrated and was difficult to eat. I ended up separating the breads, scraped all the good stuff onto the crispy side of bread, and it was good. I was getting full, so just ate the insides of the second half, so didn't deal with the other soggy toast. The sweet potato fries were lightly crispy and should have been served hot.they did taste good and came with a dipping sauce I enjoyed. All in all, it was a nice lunch out, great company, but the food was nothing special. My sandwich, fries, her salad, two soft drinks came to $54 plus tip.
We've been going to eclectic café for over 20 years. We consider it an extension of home. The quality is excellent. The service is fantastic. The guacamole is absolutely utterly delicious. My husband is convinced they make the best salsa and guacamole in the Southwest. When I get sick with a flu or a cold, their tortilla soup is an essential to go dish!
We had heard some good things about this place so we decided to give it a try. It's pretty casual, in fact, it wasn't quite what I expected it to be but that's a good thing, because I still found it quite enjoyable. The service was attentive and very good, with several members of the staff tending to our needs. The person at the front door was very friendly. The food and drink selection is very good. I was happy to see NA Beer on the menu. I had the Hacienda Salad and a cup of their soup du jour, which was a vegetable soup. Both were excellent and the salad was huge! I actually brought some home. Nice blend of flavors on the salad. My only observation was the particular booth we chose was quite close to the table, but we made it work. I thought we'd be able to move the table or slide the booth a smidge after the party behind us left, but everything was nailed to the floor. That's fine, it's just a bit close quarters. Opt for a table if you have a dad bod like me.
I made a reservation because I was not sure how busy they get at noon on Sunday, I also wanted to make sure to secure a table outside because it was a beautiful day. Even though my reservation was confirmed the hostess could not locate it. Luckily it wasn't that busy and we set outside. The service was very good. I ordered shrimp tacos on flour tortillas and they were very tasty.
One of best Rueben's I've ever had anywhere and the menu is loaded with fresh healthy dishes galore! The homemade soups are amazing and will cure what ails you! My wife's strawberry chicken salad with poppy seed dream dressing made her day. We can't complain about breakfast either, the Quiche Lorraine was off the hook, definitely going back! This place is going to be hard to beat. Can't forget the service, it was simply fantastic!
This restaurant has a wide variety of food options, so there should be something for everyone. I ordered the half corned beef sandwich on sourdough with a side salad. The meat was tender, plentiful, and flavorful. The salad was fresh and delicious. It was served to us quickly and our waiter took care of us throughout our lunch. The food looked so good that I started eating it right away and completely forgot to take pictures of it! We sat indoors at a comfortable booth. There weren't many people there when we started our lunch, but it filled up as time progressed. They also have outdoor seating for when the weather is cooler.
Very nice establishment. Well decorated. Friendly service and not trying to hurry you out the door. Had the chicken and chorizo pasta special and it was exactly as I expected. Enough for two to share. Highly recommended. The other customers were enjoying their meals so don't ship this place.

I have never been big on onions and I loved them in this. It was just utterly amazing. Have I peaked your interest? That should have! I'm totally going to return. The manager, sherry came over and thanked us for coming in. Told us that all the vegetables and ingredients are fresh and nothing other than the fries are frozen. we even got zucchini bread and it was moist and yummy! My tummy doesn't hurt like it does for fast food. It was a much healthier option. 100% will return. Pet friendly patio area. Oh and their prickly pear tea was glorious.
This was my first time at Eclectic. We were seated immediately and welcomed warmly! Server was attentive without being too much, and food service was QUICK! Most importantly everything was delicious! We had the tortilla soup, 100% recommend. I would come here ill just to have this soup. Then the BLTA sandwich was perfect and fries were addicting! And to top is off, desserts definitely did not disappoint. Overall ambiance was local cafe vibe all around, no fuss and all yum.

Okay shoutout to the vegan waiter at Eclectic Cafe who basically saved the day... I ended up with a really good vegan burrito. That said--can we PLEASE just get at least one clearly labeled vegan item on the menu? It would make life so much easier for anyone coming in with friends or groups instead of playing the "what can I modify" game. You've already got the ability to make solid vegan food... just label it. Tucson has a huge vegan crowd, and right now a lot of them probably don't even realize they can eat here. Feels like a missed opportunity.. read more

Wow!!! I've heard amazing things but never got the chance until recently. It is a cool, laid back very unassuming establishment. Service was consistent and attentive. My date got the stuffed French toast which I tried and it was great. I got the chilaquiles and that was fantastic. I really enjoyed it. I also got a partial order of the zuchinni French toast which I throughly enjoyed!!!!! I would come back just for that. I would definitely come back and try other things on the menu! read more

A bright, sunny, cheery cafe with friendly, warm, attentive staff. A massive menu full of fresh made soups, salad, sandwiches and entrees. The place was full of regulars known to the hosts and staff. Our food arrived promptly as ordered, drinks were filled and staff took time to chat and check in with us. Love it read more

Very nice establishment. Well decorated. Friendly service and not trying to hurry you out the door. Had the chicken and chorizo pasta special and it was exactly as I expected. This was my first time at Eclectic. We were seated immediately and welcomed warmly! Server was attentive without being too much, and food service was QUICK! Most importantly everything was delicious! We had the tortilla soup, 100% recommend. I would come here ill just to have this soup. Then the BLTA sandwich was perfect and fries were addicting! The food was amazing and it tasted so good. The dessert was amazing, too. They even have a special for each day of the week. Inside it was wonderful and everything was clean and neat. If you have a dog, you can eat outside. The staff was wonderful and was very kind to us. read more

Haven't been here in a long while but ordered to go from here for lunch this week while at work, and while my taste buds were happy, I felt the effort was lacking. For one, there was no utensils or napkins with the Togo order, which I feel is standard for a to go order. Secondly, I ordered the McGina pasta, an entree I've had many times from there and found there was an abnormal amount of fatty bacon in the dish. Never have I had to spit out a bite so many times...it was weird. It was super saucy and delivered in a bag in a way that you would be holding the container sideways, causing the pasta to be slumped on one side and messy. I feel like they can do better. read more

Seat yourself cafe that actually wasn't busy at 10 am Sunday. They also have outdoor seating on the side of the building. The service was good and food came out quickly. The Monte Cristo was good but only comes with a side of fruit. The 2-egg breakfast comes with potatoes and choice of meat. The potatoes were just okay. I really enjoyed the prickly pear tea. The "side order" of biscuits and gravy was a large portion for a side, but the biscuits were too dense, flavor bland and did not seem like a sausage gravy. Eclectic Cafe is outstanding! There are a LOT of things to like about it. First of all, the Mexican dishes are great. Now, don't get all huffy, but I think this is my favorite Mexican food in Tucson. Yes, it sounds sacrilegious to some but I love every Mexican dish I've had here, and I generally settle on the Banderas enchiladas. Love the sauces (ALL of them, red, green, and white even), love the beans, and love the rice, let alone the texture of the tortillas and great tasting chicken. And they have an incredibly large selection. For example, you can have grilled chicken, Leo's chicken, and at least one other type of chicken if you'd like. Tacos are great. Chimichanga is even excellent and I'm not a huge fan of them. But it hardly stops there. Because another thing this place has going for it is the really wide selection. Mexican food, sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs, salads, you name it. Even NY deli style sandwiches. But I had the turkey club last time I was here and it absolutely blew me away. I am still thinking about that sandwich! PERFECTLY toasted bread, with the toothpick and everything, delicious FRESH roasted turkey (not the deli turkey crap), excellent ham, great bacon, perfect amount of mayonnaise, cut in quarters, it was memorably excellent. And the steak fries that came with it were also great. Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and you can actually taste the potato (some fries you just experience texture but not really flavor - not the case here). Service? Incredibly warm and friendly, and usually very fast. I love that they bring your check on a mobile device. Great takeout containers, too. Great VALUE, the prices are very reasonable, and you even earn points. I love that! If we lived closer, it would be a regular go-to. But when we're in the area, we make an absolute point of dining here. It never disappoints. read more

Ambiance was vibrant yet cozy. We sat on outside patio and that was comfortable. The service was attentive. The variety of ice tea was wonderful and is served with lemon and fresh mint. I had apricot which was lovely. I had the grilled veggies that came out sizzling on a cast iron plate... smelled amazing! Broccoli, mushroom, asparagus, tomato, zucchini, onion with Parmesan cheese was absolutely delicious and cooked perfect! You can pick your protein and I had grilled chicken! I ordered the Vegan Gazpacho with a small side of guacamole. Service was fairly fast and our waiter was nice. I wasn't sure what I was expecting but the meal wasn't bad. I felt satisfied and it carried me for a few hours. The soup was simple, light, and refreshing, especially after being under the sun for a few hours. I probably could have gotten away with the smallest size (this was the medium size) and been ok; I struggled to finish up my bowl towards the end. Guac was decent too. Overall an ok meal, at a fairly reasonable price. Definitely a good serving size and people were nice. My one real critique is that it was a bit dark and stuffy/cramped feeling inside the cafe. read more
Had lunch here after a long hike. We got a table outside. Service was good. Our food was quite tasty. The ingredients were so fresh. I had way too many raw mushrooms on my salad and lots of stems of something I couldn't identify on my salad. And the carrot sticks on the side were dry. The bacon bits on my Sonoran dog were a little too crisp for me. Too hard to chew. I couldn't eat them. I loved my prickly pear ice tea. The tortilla soup was pretty good if you like salty soups. I do like salt. The French fries were really good. The chairs we sat on outside on the patio were very very uncomfortable. Plenty of parking in the plaza. read more
We met friends for breakfast this morning and what a delightful experience!! We found a comfortable table outside and appreciate the nice sun shades which allowed us to enjoy the outdoors without direct sun. Two of us arrived early and waited for the other two to arrive. I appreciate that we were seated immediately and ordered drinks while we waited for the rest of our party. There was no rush to order so we were able to enjoy our drinks. Tyler was our server and he was friendly and helpful. We ordered the following: 1.) chorizo omelet; 2.) zucchini French toast (only 10 orders available daily so we felt lucky); 3. Calabacitas omelet and 4.) chorizo enchiladas. Portions are generous and delicious! While we ate, Tyler was on top of our drinks! We will return soon and appreciate the great service and amazing food!! read more

I've been here many moons ago but I wasn't a Yelper back then. Today I came here for lunch and I must say, this place is a very well-oiled machine. There was no wait, the servers didn't waste time, my food (Hacienda Salad with Cilantro Chicken) was scrumptious, and the manager even opened the door for me as I exited the premises and thanked me for coming! The atmosphere was very casual and not so loud. It truly was a pleasant experience. I shall be back for more. read more
We have enjoyed coming here for over a decade - convenient spot for lunch or dinner when going up Catalina Highway or Sabino Canyon. The name is very descriptive - they indeed have an eclectic menu with something for everyone. I've always enjoyed their salads, so yesterday I ordered the Topopo salad with carne asada. FWIW, as the photo shows, they do not have the high-sided taco shells that some restaurants use for taco salads. You can't see the shell until you dig down to the bottom. This was the perfect lunch portion - enough to keep me from getting hungry mid-afternoon, but didn't weigh me down too much. The carne asada was nice and flavorful. I always sit outside here, weather permitting. They have a large shaded patio and accommodate outdoor diners very well. Can't recommend this place too much - never had a bad meal here. read more

Do you serve any fish? 🤞I swear I saw Seabass on the menu when I was there.
We serve salmon on Friday as our dinner special. No seabass. We have shrimp tacos and a shrimp salad on our regular menu.
Can you get an omelette?
Yes. We serve breakfast from 8 - 12 on Saturday and Sunday. You can build your own omelette all through the week.
