We placed a pickup order for dinner last night and ordered two of our usual favorites: the shrimp ceviche and the Camarón Culichi. The staff was friendly and welcoming while we waited, and they made sure our order was complete except for a side of chips, which wasn't a big deal since they provided plenty of tostadas. The server even went the extra mile by including small containers of our favorite hot sauce, which we really appreciated. Unfortunately, once we got home, we noticed the Camarón Culichi wasn't quite up to the standard we've come to expect from Mariscos Chihuahua. The Culichi sauce was much thinner than usual, and the quality and portion of the shrimp seemed to have changed. There were only a few shrimp in the dish, and they were noticeably smaller than what we've received during previous visits. The shrimp ceviche was still enjoyable, although the flavor also seemed a little different than usual. Overall, it was still a delicious meal, and we'll definitely be back because we've always had great experiences here. We just hope this was an isolated experience and not a sign that the restaurant's quality is changing. read more

The food was delicious. I'm a HUGE pulpo fan and they do it beautifully here. Tucson not exactly located seaside but their pulpo was fresh and beautifully cooked and served. Our server was terrific and accommodating. We sat in their outdoor patio which was lovely. After a late afternoon monsoon rain it was clean, fresh so rejuvenating after such a brutally dry summer. This is the place to come for seafood done a la Sonoran style. House made chips and salsa, tortillas were great. The ambiance was homey, low key and colorful. Wow what a wonderful surprise here, a seafood lovers delight. The tortilla chips started the meal out right. Deliciously crispy light chips with a garlicky mildly spicy salsa dip. Then a great selection of entrees...only slightly disappointed with breading on tacos and the Camarones albani. But the shrimp rellenos and octopus were excellent. The horchata was also great. So a solid 5 for the 2 dishes with shrimp and octopus, a 4 for the saucy shrimp dish and a 3 for the tacos. read more

Food was amazing, so was the service. We had oysters on the half shell, really fresh and delicious. Then we had shrimp ceviche, really good! We got the medium size and there was enough to bring some home for tomorrow. The finale was deep fried whole snapper, so crispy on the outside and juicy tender meat. Loved it! One thing that I was not fond of, they serve French fries with everything. I wanted to sub for beans but they don't have them. Minor issue, but surprised. They did have rice but no beans, I love beans! I would definitely go back, really good and great service! BTW, margaritas were very good too! read more

We had an early dinner today about 2pm at MC and the restaurant was busy. That's the time for the La Comida del Dia for the Mexican community. Both my wife and I started with the guacamole and chips; then had small coctel de campechanas followed by the fish filet al mojo de ajo (they use Whitefish). The flagship location of Mariscos Chihuahua outshines many Mexican seafood spots around town. What I love: Tasty options, both raw and cooked. You should get the shrimp cocktail! You should also get the marlin tacos, with flavorful shredded fish. It's like the birria of the sea! If you're an oyster person (I'm not) they have those, and the rest of my party enjoyed them. Prices are good, service is great, and if you catch them on a busy weekend, you might get some surprise live music. I haven't had the best experience at other locations, but rest assured this one is legit. read more

I went for a Tucson Foodie R&D dinner and it was pretty good. We had five courses and they all had great bites. The best dish was the Culichi but let face it this sauce is great on anything protein. They had a shrimp ceviche and a garbanzo ceviche and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised how fresh and am the garbanzo ceviche was. I will order that again. Attended a gathering reception/wake in the patio tent ( heated on rare chilly rainy Sunday ) off the bar area north of the courtyard entry. The service for the large party was excellent and handled very professionally . The bar area was very comfortable with beautiful paintings Mayan / Aztec indigenous theme Pre Columbian. The tented patio was lined with many flags representing flags many other countries . Food was ordered and served as I left after a couple hours of celebration. I've been told by many this is their favorite restaurant with seafood as the staple . Parking is also available w on the n alley with an exit to speedway . Looking for a great Mexican restaurant. This one was rated nicely. I met a business friend here for dinner. I didn't know it was only sea food type of restaurant. So this was a nice break for me. The service was good and informative. I asked for recommendations and the waitress was quite helpful and directed us to some good meals. We ordered the ceviche to start off. We then ordered dinner. We were looking to recreate our San Carlos, Sonora seafood experience here in Tucson and decided to visit Mariscos Chihuahua for the first time. The parking lot is on the south side of the building, and the entrance is on the north, but there is plenty of signage to get you there. We were greeted promptly at the door and opted to sit at a table near the windows. We received water to drink plus chips, salsa, and fresh lime to nosh while we perused the menu and took in the amazing murals that line the walls of the space. My partner enjoys spicy food and decided to try the camarones endiablados (shrimp with a spicy chipotle sauce). The dish has ample shrimp and a flavorful sauce with plenty of kick to it. It's not an uncomfortable heat, but it's very forward in the dish. This also comes with rice. I opted for the camarones culichi (shrimp with house spices in a creamy green sauce), "the dish that made us famous!" This dish had ample, perfectly cooked shrimp, and the sauce was mild and flavorful. Once I finished the shrimp, I added the rice to the sauce because it was that tasty. This also comes with a small mixed green salad. The wait staff checked on us a few times during our meal, offered to box leftovers when we were done, and handled our check efficiently. They do take credit cards at this location. We definitely will return to Mariscos Chihuahua in the future to try other menu items. read more

The food was horrible!!! I ordered chicharrón de pescado and cóctel de camarón. The fish looked and tasted like cheap chicken nuggets, the rice was mush. Went due to the reviews and was disappointed. Firstly, the table salsa was so mild I couldn't taste any chile. It tasted of tomatoes and it had no flavor. I asked the waitress if they served a spicier salsa and she said no and handed me a bottle of Tapatío to spice it up I ordered the shrimp cocktail and my partner ordered chicken tacos. The shrimp cocktail was boring. It had tiny pieces of chopped cucumber and I couldn't recognize anything besides the shrimp. There wasn't any flavor and shrimp was so salty that I couldn't eat the cocktail The tacos were basic. The chicken was tender. The tacos came with pico de gallo, but lacked chile. I looked around and saw that the restaurant draws a Latino crowd so I thought they would have some jalepenos or Serranos to satisfy us chile eaters, but I saw others using bottled hot sauce to spice up their dishes. Lastly, their menu shows a frozen margarita, but they only have on the rocks, so I ordered it. It was just as boring as their food I suggest spicing up the food and offer condiments. For some reason they think all dishes need French fries which they don't. Rice is all you need and it's good. Great seafood, great service! I'm especially fond of the camarones culichi ( shrimp cooked in a mild creamy chile sauce). Nice size portions. The staff always makes me feel like a regular patron, even though I'm not due to work obligations. They are very warm and friendly there and the chef checks in with the patrons when he's not too busy in the galley. I immediately loved the ambiance of this location! They have a beautiful patio available for seating as well as indoor seating! We were seated right away and service was quick and friendly! Their iced tea was very good and the food was yummy and came out quickly. Unfortunately my son did not like his quesadilla so we did have to end up ordering chicken nuggets instead but no biggie and they brought it out quickly. The best location is the one on Grande. Great food and service! Definitely a go to place for mariscos! My fave thing to order here is a tostada de ceviche and a side of rice. Weird combo but their white rice has so much flavor I even cook my rice like that now! I personally stay away from the location on South 6th. I have a family member who works for Tucson Water that has told me one time they had to turn off the water at this location and they were still open for business. Not quite sure how they managed a full day of selling and making mariscos without water. Truly disgusting. I don't see how this one is still open. read more

Arrived early afternoon on a Saturday hoping to sit outside after the rain storm. We were greeted by the owner who sat us outside in a wonderful spot. He and all the servers have bright energy making the visit even better We found the "Camerones Celiche"(touted as the dish which made them famous). We also had the fresh-made guacamole and ceviche tostada appetizer. Everything perfectly cooked and spiced to perfection. We were not wild about the marlin tacos but the house salsa helped. Newbie tip: Order some French fries for dipping in the Camarones green sauce. The corn tortilla delish too and the rice? I want the recipe. Yum.
