Come for their taco Tuesday fish taco special--$1.50 per taco! And they have a salsa bar with all the fixings. They have other items on their menu but we came for the fish tacos. Breading wasn't too thick, food was hot and fresh to order. Once you place your order they will give you a ticket with your number; once your order is ready they will call it over the intercom system. Only difficult thing here is parking. It's SUPER small, so you either have to park somewhere else or circle the block until space frees up. read more

Taco Tuesday! Fish tacos from this place on a Tuesday is easily the best deal in town. $1.50 per taco and they stuff each one with delightfully crispy fish that was fried just seconds before serving. They come plain but there is a bar where you can customize each taco to your liking with many sauces and toppings. The service was quick and couldn't have asked for anything more. The ambiance was awesome. Everyone's excitement for their food to come out was palpable. It was clean, well decorated, and cool enough to eat fried fish tacos despite the blazing sun outside. I got the shrimp soup and 2 shrimp tacos. I was bummed to hear grilled shrimp was not an option and the only shrimp avaliable in a taco was fried. The food was very good. After I saw my previous review, I was absolutely certain that I have not been here in three years. This place is still as fantastic as ever. The ceviche is perfectly marinated with the right amount of veggies, the shrimp is plentiful. The shrimp tacos are perfectly fried, and with enough shrimp to be able to make two tacos out of one serving. To top it off Thursdays are two for one shrimp tacos. You cannot get that anywhere else in town. It is located perfectly on the southside of Tucson on Irvington and 12th Ave. The heart of Our Mexican culture. The staff is very friendly, and your food comes out, fresh and very quickly. The flavors are phenomenal, they have a gray salsa/condiment bar that you're able to stock up and use on your food. The location is kept immaculate by the staff. It is very clean and very accommodating. The drink menu lacks a little in the sense that they only have refreshments like soda and Mexican juices. They too are also fantastic. But it would be fantastic to be able to have a drink while you eat this delicious food. Bottom line, if you want amazing Sonoran style seafood, with a local only touch. Came here for taco Tuesday... And for those who need to know as of August 2023 there is only one offering on the taco Tuesday list and that is a deep fat fried battered shrimp taco for $1.50 a pop. I was misled by some older reviews thinking that all the tacos were $.99 a piece but that's no longer the case. As a result, I ended up ordering a ceviche shrimp tostada for me and one for my friend. That along with a bottle of Sprite cost $17. The ceviche was awesome and it came with two fresh corn tortillas that were nice and crispy. I was able to make two tostadas out of it. That salsa's in the salsa bar are simple, but very tasty. I would come back here but I think I'm gonna try some other places first for taco Tuesday. read more

Different days of the week there are deals. I love this spot! Thursday's and Friday's are my fave days to go! Tacos super filled with fish. Extra tortillas means enough to make another taco. I first tried their amazing fish tacos 9 years ago at their food truck on Grant Ave. between 6th and 5th Ave. They have since sold the truck to a former employee who retained the recipes and renamed the truck to "El Barquito." So my review of the Taco Fish food truck no longer exists. Bottom line: Best fish tacos in Tucson, period. As my wife and I love fish tacos, I have tried everyone's fish tacos in town. I could go ahead and list all the places I've tried a fish taco, but I'm too lazy to type them all out. Just do a search here on Yelp for "fish tacos" and all the search hits you get is where I've had them, and then some. You can't beat Taco Fish for the flavor and you can't beat Taco fish for the price. The recipe, as I understand it (from a Tucson Foodie article?) is that the recipe is indigenous to the owner's home town in Mexico and has been a family recipe. It is perfect. The right kind of fish and the right kind of batter, and the right kind of frying makes this a non-greasy delight to eat. A fish taco consists of four to five pieces of fish and two tortillas. (Tip: If you order two tacos, they give you three tortillas, so either ask for a fourth tortilla or specify a fourth one when you order them.) This is enough fish and tortilla to make TWO tacos, which we always do. Each taco costs a mere $3.00, and if you do as I do, that's two tacos for $3.00. On taco Tuesday, the tacos are 99¢! That's 45¢ a taco! Then you go to the salsa bar for shredded cabbage or shredded slaw, pickled onions, pico de gallo, and limes. There are different sauces available: avocado, mayo, chipotle, hot sauce. I've had the shrimp tacos, too, and they are absolutely equally delish! The ceviche tostada is piled high. Piled high. You can have a cup of free biche soup as well. Everything on the menu is really good and reasonably priced. Go! Parking can be tight. The interior is really like an exterior. It feels like an expanded garage/patio. 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Tucson-top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. People don't mind double parking here either, so be aware that you might be temporarily blocked in, especially if you show up during the lunch rush. When you get inside, you order at the first window and pick up your food at the second window. While you wait for your order, you can assemble your limes, sauces (creamy avocado and/or creamy red), pico de gallo, pickled onions, etc, from the bar. There's a good amount of seating inside and a few outside. Super important note, they have some daily specials: Monday - 50% off cahuamanto tacos or plates; Tuesday - fish taco with 8oz bichi (soup) for $1.50; Thursday - 2 shrimp tacos and 8oz bichi for the price of 1. What you need to know up front is that you don't get the free 8oz bichi unless you specifically tell them that you want the special. So just ordering the shrimp tacos on Thursday does not mean they'll automatically add the soup. I tried a fish taco, bichi, and chili cheese taco (taco. I do not know if they'll make the fish or shrimp grilled, so hopefully you like breaded. These were the most simple yet delicious tacos that I've had. The taco comes with just the protein and two corn tortillas. It's up to you to add whatever you want from the bar. I chose lime, pickled onions, pico de gallo, and a little bit of creamy avocado. Depending on how packed you like your taco, you get enough fish or shrimp to fill two small corn tortillas. Although I assembled both of my tacos the same way, my favorite is the chili cheese taco - which comes with shrimp. The bichi is just a tomato based type broth with some shrimp. I added some cabbage and lime to 'spruce up' my bichi! This soup hits the spot, I think it's perfect for when you're not too hungry, but you're also a little under the weather and want something comforting; this soup is it. I really wanted good tacos, so I searched on Yelp for a suggestion on the south side. This little restaurant popped up, so we decided to try it out. We each ordered fish tacos, shrimp tacos, gordo tacos, and ceviche. The tacos were served with dressings, toppings, and add-ons on the side. The tacos themselves were good, but the add-ons really made the meal. Coleslaw and crema were a hit on top! The ceviche was perfect. Fantastic fish tacos. Went with a party of three, and we all enjoyed the food. I tried the fish and shrimp battered tacos. They were delicious with a generous amount of fish and sides. They gave us a side plate that had cabbage, salsa, three types of sauces and several limes. I was also offered a free cup of soup too. There were a couple tables outside and plenty of seating inside. The inside is a covered patio with cool air being circulated. It's a unique experience, and a nice place to take your friends or family for lunch. We accidentally stumbled upon Taco Fish while looking for another mexican seafood restaurant and got a pleasant surprise. Awesome food and fast service. We got fish tacos, shrimp and cheese taco and ceviFritos, Fresh lemonade for drink and we were offered a complimentary cup of shrimp soup. Tacos were pretty big, with 2 tortillas and 4 pieces of deep fried fish or shrimp. The best part is that they have a salad bar and you can assemble your own taco with veggies and sauces as per your liking. Lemonade was nice and refreshing. The shrimp soup was not bad. ceviFritos looked really tempting but we were disappointed that the seafood in it was cold which was intended I suppose, as it looked more like salad. But it did taste spicy and delicious. If you like eating cold meat, go for it. It had mixed seafood in it, shrimp and some fish, perhaps marlin. The restaurant was pretty busy but service was fast, we got our food pretty quick after placing the order. Although the location is not so great and the exterior looks old, the restaurant is cute and clean inside. The menu was up on the wall, you order at the counter and then go seat yourself wherever you like. Parking lot is small and this place does get busy, especially around lunch time. This place has limited parking and is usually busy so have some patience, it's worth it. The sauces and condiments are really what make these tacos great so be sure to dress them up any which way you'd like. The inside of this place is always clean and our orders are always right. Wow these fish tacos come out fresh and piping hot!! I really like how it's served naked, and I can dress my tacos however I like. I ended up actually splitting my tacos to have 4 so I can load up on more toppings. Loved the orange and green creamy sauces. The owners also gave us a sample of some shrimp, spicy but very comforting. There's a lot of space inside too if you have a larger group. Overall some great fresh options for seafood! BEST FISH TACOS IN TOWN I've been coming here from several years now and I still haven't found any place better. I've watch this literally hidden shop turn from outdoor stand, to "indoor" brick building with a garage door overhead covering with marble tables to eat on. Prices went from $1.50 to now ~$3.00/taco, but hey business is business and I'm happy to see that they are doing well. Although prices have risen, they still have NOT skimped on the meat thats given. Theres so much that I usually use that extra tortilla to split my one taco into 2!! I love it! Tacos come with no toppings but they have their own salsa bar where you can add your own lettuce/lime/salsa/sauces which sometimes is better if you a picky eater. I've pretty much tried all their different types of tacos now and I can't say I've had a bad one. It just depends on your mood of the day. The experience is fun too, as you can mix and add the ingredients to the "meat" of the taco with 1-2 tortillas or none of you want. Lost 1 star for the location/ambiance. We went at 6:30p on a Saturday and it was completely dark, no lights, could barely tell it was open. Unfortunately it seemed pretty sketchy. They closed at 7p (on Saturday!) so we couldn't even eat in our car as they had to lock the parking lot. Tl;dr - great food, and cheap.
