I forgot to take a picture of my Carne Asada combo plate. lol It was delicious though and I was hungry. Cute little place on 22nd close to my office. Service was always good, very helpful.

Menu - A menu board outside Maico in Tucson lists Mexican dishes including tacos, combination plates, side orders, and breakfast burritos.

This place is great! If it weren't for the price keep goin up we would give it a five! It's a small whole in the wall place that is attached to someone's house! Burritos are nice & fat! One is definitely enough to share. No seating inside altho they do have a few tables outside. Only thing about that is that sometimes they have homeless ppl sittin there stinkin up the place. We alwaya get it to go now because of this. Otherwise it's great food & definitely worth a try!

I definitely love the prices here 5 tacos, quesadilla, and 2 drinks were less than $25. Double corn tortillas with a healthy amount of carne asada street taco style. Great service, outside seating area.

Exterior - The image shows the exterior of Maico Restaurant, a Mexican food establishment with a brick facade, outdoor seating area, and string lights hanging overhead.

We were in the area and decided to check out this unassuming little place. You order at the window and can get food to go, or can sit down in their outdoor dining area, which we decided to do. I ordered the veggie burrito, which was tasty and as expected, with beans, rice, guacamole etc. It was good and did the trick. The service was great, prompt and friendly. The little patio, despite being on noisy 22nd, had lovely music playing and festive lights. The tables were clean and monitored. We enjoyed our experience and hope to be back soon.

Oh so good darn good relleno Fun old fashioned- old order at the window, super sweet and friendly service, I couldn't decide what to drink and she suggested a very tasty option. Loved sitting on the covered patio, complete with festive lights and other classic Mexican decorations.

This is the bone. I'd actually be more understanding if the lady hadn't been so rude. $12 bucks for a burrito I'd love to not break off my t

I really like this place. Until this morning. The lady was not very friendly but that's not even the issue. I just almost broke my tooth on this big bone that was in my california burrito.

Starving after visit to the Zoo, saw this spot on way home and decided Mexican sounds good. Glad we did, super friendly greeting and service as we walked up, clear menu with wide selection, and a nice seating area with plenty of tables in the shade. Our food came out quick, hot and delicious. My Mom saw my taco salad and I thought I was going to have to fight her - "You only wanted a taco Mom" I did share (a little). My taco salad (beef) was fresh on the inside, full of flavor with a crispy shell on the outside - perfect. Wife & Mom loved the taco plate, and completely clean plates will show u better than I can tell u that it was delicious. Reasonable prices, great taste and the future exploring of the menu will bring us back. Last, but not least - Ice Cold Coke in a bottle- it tasted so good after a morning at the Zoo.

We just landed at the TUS airport and the first thing on our mind was breakfast. We stopped by this hole in the wall neighborhood joint and ordered two different breakfast burritos with the hottest chili. The cashier is very friendly and throws in a few jokes. We sat at the outdoor tables and he was kind enough to bring the food out instead having to go back to the order window. The burritos are big and one of the two tasted better than the other. The chili is not super hot like we enjoy it but overall a good choice for inexpensive fast food.

Chicken enchilada platter

This was my first visit. My meal was actually quite good. My dining experience not so much. I stopped by here late Sunday afternoon, after a 10-mile walk along the Santa Cruz river walk. I was tired and hungry and so was my dog. She was resting in my truck while I walked up to the service window. I ordered a chicken enchilada combination platter with a medium Diet Coke (Diet Pepsi is what they have;I really don't care). The woman taking my order said their diet soda was not working (huh? That means all the sodas weren't working) so I opted not to have anything to drink as I don't like the overly-sweet Mexican drinks. This was the first ding. I intended to sit outside as the weather was nice. But I was tired, hungry and now thirsty and decided I'd use the bathroom. Wrong. The unisex room is kept locked and one must ask for the key. Keeping the door locked prevents the vagrants who hang out at the convenience store next door from using and abusing this room. This was the second ding. Asking for a bathroom key from the same person who is busy taking orders is frustrating for both the employee and the person needing to pee and wash her hands after sweating for four hours. My third disappointment was being told that I couldn't have my dog on the patio. I had taken her out of the truck so that she could relax on the cool cement while I waited for my food. The same woman who took my order came up to me and politely told me that dogs were not allowed. I asked her where it was posted. "On the website!" was her retort. Well, who's always online reading websites? I happened to drive by and was impressed with the warm layout and wanted to try this place out. I knew nothing about Maico and don't (and won't) follow them on Facebook. There were no signs posted saying no dogs allowed. THAT was my gripe. Any kind of ban should be posted at the establishment and not just on the website. Some of us really don't follow websites or have 24/7 access to them while traveling. The woman said an offleash dog attacked another dog and that's why there's a ban on dogs. Why not just ban the felonous dog and its owner instead? I'm ok with my dog staying in my truck while I'm eating and the weather is cooperative but I like to know ahead of time if dogs are banned as so many other diners with patios allow friendly dogs. Those are the places I will frequent first. There was only one other table used on the patio while I was there and my dog was too tired to care. My chicken enchilada combo was quite tasty so that made my visit OK. And I would stop by here again, but will park next door as the eight-car lot up front is too tight for pick-ups and this way my hungry and tired dog can bark away at the vagrants next door.

Chorizo Cheese Potatoes and Egg Burrito and Carnitas Taco - Three tacos with different toppings and lime wedges on a paper-lined tray, a burrito held in a hand, and a Coca-Cola bottle on a marble table.

The cashier was super nice and the patio they have is really clean for being outside Mexican food is always amazing and this place didn't let me down I will be back for more burritos

Delicioussssssss. I absolutely loved the food here. My group got a variety of burritos, tacos, enchiladas, and more. We all enjoyed our food and the pricing is reasonable. The staff were really friendly and helped us make decisions. I will definitely be back for cheap, quality food. They have lots of seating too if you want to eat there.

Huevos Rancheros burrito

Insofar as connecting the burrito dots here in The Old Pueblo Maico is one of the primary spots. The menu has some interesting options. Huevos Rancheros, and Chile relleno burritos. The potato taco plate, standout. This is a review for the vegetarian option- The Huevos Rancheros Burrito. We opted out of the beans because they're cooked with lard. The burrito was still pretty awesome sans beans and the potatoes made up for it. Tortilla had a good texture and the Huevos Rancheros ingredients were fresh, tasty, and there was some kick. Definitely worth checking out. The total lack of ambiance is the ambiance here. It's to go or outdoors seating. I can imagine parking being annoying if it's busy. It's a tight parking lot which is a breeze if you're there when it's not a rush. The service is super friendly and helpful. It's a busy road and comes up quick so be mindful if it's your first time going.

Delicious breakfast burritos. They've increased their prices quite a bit though so I don't go as often. Love their red salsa and chorizo!

Unfortunately, Guadalajara is one of these places. What I like: This restaurant can accommodate well over 100 diners without sacrificing service. Food only took 20 minutes during a dinner rush. I appreciate a well-oiled machine. I will admit, the salsa gimmick is charming. What needs work: Just because there's tableside salsa does not mean it's good. I have never seen anyone use so much cilantro! The drinks are mid--the jalapeno margarita uses the mildest peppers in the universe, and surprise! It's somehow also loaded with cilantro. I excitedly went for the biggest, most famous burrito on the menu and it just has too many ingredients (beans, rice, bacon, shrimp, carne asada) to work. They were too ambitious with this one. My bad. I can see this as a really fun place to take a large group from out of town. I bet if you come from the Midwest (it is full of snowbirds from the Midwest), this is mind-blowingly good. By Arizona standards, however, there are just too many old-timey places that simply do everything better.

You walk in and it's alive. Busy, a little loud, full of energy, and it smells incredible before you even sit down. The food delivers in a big way. I went with a mix just to cover some ground. The carne seca plate stood out right away, deep, rich flavor without being heavy. I also tried a chimichanga that came out perfectly crisp, packed with filling, and somehow not greasy. That's a fine line and they nailed it. The enchiladas were exactly what you want too, saucy, flavorful, and clearly made with care rather than rushed out of the kitchen. Everything felt intentional, from the seasoning to the portions. You're not leaving hungry, that's for sure. Service kept pace with the chaos in the best way. Friendly, efficient, and they didn't miss a beat even with the place packed. It felt like controlled motion, not disorder. The atmosphere is part of the experience. It's not quiet or polished, and it shouldn't be. It feels real. Families, locals, people who clearly come back again and again. That kind of place. If you're visiting Tucson, this is a must. No question. It's the kind of spot that defines a trip, not just fills a meal.

The entire restaurant was packed with energy, music, and people enjoying the celebration, but it still managed to keep that classic Tucson charm and authentic Sonoran feel that has made El Charro such an iconic spot for over 100 years. The ambience downtown was fantastic, especially with the historic setting and the excitement throughout the evening. Cinco de Mayo brought an extra level of energy to the restaurant, with a lively crowd, great music, and a fun atmosphere that made the night feel like a true celebration. Even with how busy it was, the staff worked hard to keep things moving and remained friendly throughout the night. The food was excellent and full of flavor. Everything tasted fresh and authentic, and you can tell why El Charro has become such a Tucson staple over the years. The carne seca continues to stand out as one of the signature dishes in the city, and the traditional Sonoran-style flavors really make the experience unique. The margaritas and drinks were also a highlight and paired perfectly with the festive Cinco de Mayo atmosphere. Between the food, drinks, music, and the energy of downtown Tucson, it felt like one of the best places in the city to celebrate the holiday. Overall, El Charro Cafe delivered a memorable Cinco de Mayo experience with great food, a lively atmosphere, and the kind of Tucson history and culture that keeps people coming back year after year.

Honestly, I wish I could give Yaquesita a little more, maybe half a star more, because this place definitely has potential. Their flavors are good, but compared to similar restaurants the menu feels a bit overpriced. For a party of three we ended up paying around $100, which felt like a bit much for what we got. The restaurant itself is pretty small with only about 3-4 tables inside, but the patio is a decent size and has a cute vibe. It's actually a nice option on cooler days if you don't mind sitting outside. Some items were better than others. The wet-style burrito was delicious and definitely a highlight. The quesabirrias were good, however the birria felt more like fancier shredded beef. It was missing that rich, spicy, slightly acidic, earthy flavor that usually sets birria apart from barbacoa or traditional shredded beef dishes. The bowl was just okay and had lots of lettuce. It felt more like a salad with a bit of meat, rice, and beans. Honestly, Chipotle does bowls better, and that says a lot considering the price. The nachos were good, but I've had better. Seis Kitchen has amazing nachos to share. That said, it's definitely a place I'd come back to mainly out of convenience, not because one particular item on the menu won my heart. I really do hope they continue refining the menu because the flavors are there and this place could easily become a standout spot. Personally I just think at the total price of my ticket other restaurants should not even have room in my mind during my meal.
